It also had not presented to the select committee, had not initiated and helped to run the very first Spring River Festival, and had not built many of the constructive relationships that it has worked so *** building this year. It has achieved so much in the past year - a lot of it behind-the-scenes relationship building and groundwork for what is yet to come. Wendy Matthews ( ANZMES committee member) and Doctor Ros Vallings ( ANZMES Medical adviser)met with the Parliamentary select committee on September 20th. They got an excellent reception and were asked a lot of questions. Ros said they couldn’t have asked for a greater group of MPs as they made them feel very welcomed, relaxed and at home. There was a very positive feedback from the select committee. They had half an hour instead of the 20 minutes they were initially given. The petition etc is now going back to the Ministry of Health for their recommendations and then back to the select committee. Wendy said we can be cautiously optimistic.
