I'm never up this late, so it's rare I would see any television. But I just scanned over to Saturday Night Live, and wow. What a joke, it's not even funny. It was appointment TV when I was a kid! Chevy Chase, Dan Akroyd, Jim Belushi, Eddie Murphy, Chris Farley, Chris Kattan, Molly Shannon, Daman Wayans, Will Ferrell, Mike Myers, Adam Sandler..I could go on an on...sigh. Comedy isn't what it used to be..
From what I hear (which isn't much), and which most people can agree with, is that, the top four performers in Saturday Night Live history are Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrell, Dan Ackroyd, and Phil Hartman. Who can disagree? HOWEVER, my first two picks would be Fred Armisen, who can play anyone from Barack Obama to Lawrence Welk, and Maya Rudolph, who can go from dumb blonde model to Oprah. Give them the right wig, they can do anything.
you all know i scroll alot..well i thought id put anew twist on it scrolling with the remote instead of the mouse. .my first channel was a lady having a channel congress and finally an old rerun of Saturday Night Live,, Love Eddie Murphy and Robin Williams together

Comedian, actor Chris Rock was born on this day in 1965 in Andrews, South Carolina. Rock is the eldest son of Julius Rock, a truck driver, and Rose Rock, a teacher. When Rock was a toddler his family relocated to Brooklyn, New York. He spent the remainder of his childhood in Brooklyn's notoriously tough Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. He attended a nearly all-white public school and, as a result, was subjected to discrimination at an early age. Rock's early bouts with racism greatly influenced his comedic material. At age 18, Rock was discovered by Eddie Murphy at New York's Comedy Strip. A small role in Murphy's Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) was Rock's film debut. Rock also starred in Keenan Ivory Wayans' I'm Gonna Get You Sucka (1988). In 1990, Rock followed the footsteps of his idol, Eddie Murphy, by joining the cast of Saturday Night Live. A year later, he released his first comedy album, Born Suspect (1991). He also undertook the more dramatic role of playing Pookie, a drug addicted informant, in Mari ...

Watching the English Invasion on CNN...amazing how many great bands there were in that short time frame. Also wonderful to see how the British helped us appreciate the incredible musical heritage we had in this country with blues and soul music. The clip with James Brown is priceless...reminds me of the great parody by Eddie Murphy on Saturday Night Live.
Okay. a hmmm.. 1.) Buffy The Vampire Slayer - I just loved this show 2.) Angel TV show - spin off with Angel in t and later Spike. woot 3.) American Horror Story years 1 and 3. (2 was just okay) 4.) But with comments. First 4 years (with John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Dan Ackroyd, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, Steve Martin, etc..). Anything with Eddie Murphy, the Adam Sandler - Chris Farley years, anything with Will Ferrell, Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, and ...

WHO WINS THIS BATTLE? To me, the 3 best casts of Saturday Night Live was the original few seasons (Chevy Chase, Dan Akroyd, Gilda Radner, Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Garrett Morris), early 90's cast (Chris Rock, Dennis Miller, Dana Carvey, Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, David Spade, Rob Schneider) and the mid to late 90's cast (Will Ferrell, Tracy Morgan, Chris Kattan, Molly Shannon, Tim Meadows, Norm McDonald, Cheri Oteri, Ana Gasteyer, Darrell Hammond). Who wins in those 3 eras? I would love to put the Eddie Murphy era but during that time he was the funniest on there by far! There was also Martin Short and Julia Louis-Dryfuss. FYI: Did you know that Damon Waynes and Anthony Michael Hall was on SNL for a season?
I love the original Saturday Night Live episodes with like Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin, Eddie Murphy, Molly Shannon, all those OG ones 😂
Chris Broussard look like Eddie Murphy when he dressed up like a white man on Saturday Night Live
ok James Brown/Eddie Murphy from Saturday Night Live. "Gotta get in da Hot Tub! Owww!"
Movie Review: 48 Hrs (1982): This is the film turned a young 21 year old Eddie Murphy into star. Beverley Hills Cop made him into the biggest star in the planet, but without 48 Hrs, the world wouldnt have endeared themselves into Murphy's style of humour. It's easy to dismiss this film as another knockabout action film from the eighties, but then that doesnt really tell the whole story about how this film came about. Originally written as a vehicle for Clint Eastwood and then Richard Pryor (Imagine what that combination would've been like.), Nick Nolte who eventually played Jack Cates was an established actor already, but by the time Pryor passed on this film the production needed to find someone and someone fast. Eddie Murphy was burning the small screen on Saturday Night Live (The place where Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, John Belushi made it...) and he aced his audition.then Paramount saw some early rushes and wanted to fire Eddie Murphy for get this not being funny enough.well thankfully Paramount let dir ... far Saturday Night Live is funny in a Saturday Night Live "minus" Eddie Murphy kind of way. After the Steve Harvey spoof, I was a little let down. Thankfully theres more show left. Lets see.
Who died on FEBRUARY 27? CLUES: He was an American educator, Presbyterian minister, songwriter, author and television host. He created and hosted his own TV show from 1968-2001. He was the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He held over 40 honorary degrees. He was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame and is ranked among TV Guide’s Fifty Greatest Stars of All Time. He once played a preacher on one episode of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman”. He was imitated by Eddie Murphy on Saturday Night Live. While fighting cancer, he was the grand marshall of the Tournament of Roses Parade with Art Linkletter and Bill Cosby. When he died at the age of 75, more than 2,700 people attended his memorial at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh. His sweater is displayed in the Smithsonian Institute as one of the “Treasures of American History”. Who is he?
Chris Rock was born in 1965. He would go on to be one of the funniest comedians of our generation and one of two funny black people to ever star on Saturday Night Live - the other being Eddie Murphy, who coincidentally gave him his first movie role in Beverly Hills Cop III. (Sorry Keenan and Mr. Ladies Man.) He summarized the feeling of so many black folks and of folks in general with his classic line, "I LOVE BLACK PEOPLE... BUT I HATE N!GGAS." This day in Black History. Brought to you by Pookie.
Today's Black History fact: Acknowledges the Black Pioneers of American Comedy. Black comedians have evolved from performances on the small stage to the big screen with comedians such as Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, Jamie Fox, Chris Rock and now Kevin Hart, and Mike Epps. And like so many others they stand on the shoulders of legendary comedians like Richard Pryor, Redd Fox, *** Greg Chard, Nipsey Russell, Bill Cosby, Danitra Vance, Flip Wilson, and Mom Mabley who broke racial stereotypes and division. Richard Pryor was the first recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor from the Kennedy Center in 1998. Redd Foxx, one of the first Black comedian to headline in Las Vegas and appeal to a white audience. Danitra Vance became the first Black woman to appear as a cast member on Saturday Night Live and in 1970. Flip Wilson became the first African-American to host his own weekly variety series, The Flip Wilson Show.
takes a bit... it's an old Saturday Night Live riff on Ebony & Ivory with Joe Piscopo and Eddie Murphy.
I'm watching the Saturday Night Live special on NBC, focusing on the first 5 years, and the original Not Ready for Prime Time Players (Dan Ackroyd, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Garrett Morris, Larraine Newman, Gilda Radner, and later Bill Murray and Eddie Murphy). Their humor then was very avant garde for TV--still is, when you think about it. Only on SNL could they get away with a skit, featuring Chevy and Richard Pryor, were they do word association in a job interview--and the words get increasingly racial. And at the end it went: Chase: "Spearchucker." Pryor (getting increasingly angry): "Honky!" Chase: *** " Pryor: "Honky honky!" Chase: *** " Pryor: "DEAD HONKY!"
Joe Piscopo, Actor: Saturday Night Live. Joe Piscopo was cast on Saturday Night Live in 1980 as part of an overall replacement of the original cast. However, his team of players were not up to par in comedy and all were quickly replaced, except for he and Eddie Murphy. Together they dominated the sh...
This clip almost resembles watching an Eddie Murphy sketch on Saturday Night Live from about 1983.
The 50 greatest Saturday Night Live skits…where do we even begin? Eddie Murphy might have once been a hit on "Saturday Night Live" and "Beverly Hills Cop," but these days the actor's claim to fame is landing the title of "Most Overpaid Actor in Hollywood."
so I watched the tribute to Eddie Murphy 30 years in the business. Hands down he is our King of Comedy. Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx was my parents King. But for my generation hands down Eddie. He was the first ROCK STAR comedian. Not to mentioned he loaded!! Two thumbs up to Eddie Murphy. Those Saturday Night Live clips were FUNNY!! "Wont you be my neighbor" "Buck Wheat has been shot" "Hot Tub, can't get in, the water too hot" just amazing all they he has done.and what was interesting is that he was like, why yall here? That's the look he had but when all those other comedians got on stage to say THANK YOU, I think Eddie himself got why everyone was there.

I watched The Campaign. It wasn't bad not as funny as Talladega Nights but I give it two thumbs up. I'm not a Will Ferrell fan. I think he's a no talent hack that was only given a chance like so many other actors that were on Saturday Night Live because Hollywood was looking for the next Eddie Murphy. Every now and then he makes a funny movie but you have to surround Will Ferrell with a lot of great supporting actors for him to make a good movie, he's not funny by himself. It was pretty funny when Cam Brady's wife told the kids put their earphones in because she was about to use TV mature words. Aparently, the kid's song, *** n titties is a real song. I've been listening to it, the chorus is kinda catchy and the lyrics are hilarious
Do you think my TV provider needs to update their info on the Saturday Night Live listing? It has the cast credited as John Belushi, Phil Hartman, Eddie Murphy, Darrell Hammon...
I just saw a comment that said "Saturday Night Live hasn't been funny in years." Maybe I'm losing touch with reality, but I have been watching SNL since back in the days of John Belushi, Eddie Murphy, Chevy Chase, etc. and I maintain that the shows in the past four or five years have been much BETTER, more consistent and funnier (scene for scene) than any previous years. Of coursejust as with great radio stations of the past, we only remember the good stuff; same with those great scenes from the supposed "Golden Age" of SNL. How soon we forgot that most of the scenes from those shows which did not work at all. It seems to me that in recent years, more than 70% of SNL shows are funny compared to the 40% or so from the Belushi up through the Jimmy Fallon era. What's your opinion? (Please don't comment if you still think Dennis Miller is funny, Three Dog Night was a great band and if you only watch two or three SNL shows a year- you will only skew the poll we're taking). Also, trolls who just wanna see thei ...
*** ! The programing guide for TV states John Belushi, Eddie Murphy and Phil Hartman are making a appearance on Saturday Night Live... What kind of crap is this. Phil Hartman dies almost a decade ago... how can this be a new episode?
My online cable guide lists tonights guests on Saturday Night Live with original air date today as John Belushi, Phil Hartman, Eddie Murphy, and Darrell Hammond. Now that would be something to see.
the DVR info page for "Saturday Night Live" tonight listed the show's cast members as John Belushi, Eddie Murphy, and Phil Hartman. I know we are turning the clocks back tonight, but I didn't think THAT far
Just watched a comedian by the name of Bill Burr. He's not one of those politically correct types, if you know what I mean. He just says what's on his mind. Some hilarious stuff, similar to the old Eddie Murphy stand up routine after his time on Saturday Night Live. never knew Murphy didn't write his own material like some of the popular singers out there. They call them "performers" not singers/songwriters anymore. But this comedian writes his own material and has two specials on Netflix called Let It Go and All You People Are The Same! Sometime you just need a good laugh and let the remnants of a day roll off your back. Sometimes a good but foul word needs to be said in correspondence to what type of day you had. Sometimes you just want to pull the pin of that F-Bomb and let it scatter like schrapnel across a page. Than other times, you keep a tight upper lip and say nothing at all. But it is not in the make up of a poet to keep silent, he needs to get whatever is bothering him out and plaster it where ...
In honor of the 37th anniversary of the debut of Saturday Night Live, I offer the following quiz: 1) Who was the first host? 2) Who has hosted the most times? 3) Which former cast member has the second-highest box office grosses of all time, behind Eddie Murphy?
I've laughed harder tonight than I did when I use to watch Eddie Murphy play Buckwheat on Saturday Night Lol ROMP is the Best!
The Saturday Night Live in the infant stage has some great comedians that done a lot of skits. All were equally talented. Two Guys come to mind from that great cast that went on to to tour and make a movie called the Blues Brothers. Aretha Franklin guest starred in that movie as the owner of the cafe and the two Blues Brother their band together. Well while Aretha sang her classic song Respect her husband took off with the band. It was classic. Dan Ankyrod and John Belush creativity that made that movie come alive. Chevy Chase, Gilda R., Eddie Murphy, and John Candy all talented and World Famous.
Boomerang is a 1992 American romantic comedy film directed by Reginald Hudlin. The film stars Eddie Murphy as Marcus Graham, a hotshot advertising executive who also happens to be an insatiable womanizer and male chauvinist. When he meets his new boss, Jacqueline Broyer (Robin Givens), Marcus discovers that she is essentially a female version of himself, and realizes he is receiving the same treatment that he delivers to others. The film features supporting performances by Halle Berry, David Alan Grier, and Martin Lawrence. Murphy assisted in developing the story with writers Barry W. Blaustein and David Sheffield, having worked with the writing duo since his days on Saturday Night Live. Murphy hired Hudlin to direct Boomerang, following the latter's success with his debut film House Party (1990). Hudlin and the writers aimed to create a romantic comedy that differed strongly from Murphy's previous comic efforts. Filming took place mainly in New York City, while other scenes were filmed in Washington, D.C ...
This year, a "Saturday Night Live" actor has been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. That actor is 34-year-old comedian, Bill Hader. He is the first SNL male cast member to be nominated for an Emmy since Eddie Murphy in 1983.
When Saturday Night Live returns on Saturday, it's a safe bet the show will open Jason Sudeikis doing his Romney impersonation across from an Obama. But things are different this year. Fred Armisen is out. Jay Pharoah is the new impersonator-in-chief.
Tim Curry and Eddie Murphy on Saturday Night Live. For all the Tim Curry fans out there!
Eddie Murphy is an Academy and Emmy Award-nominated American actor and comedian who is best known for being a cast member on 'Saturday Night Live' and his roles as Reggie Hammond in '48 Hrs.,' Det.

Eddie Murphy was only 19 years old when he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live, in 1975
In 1980, Joe Piscopo was chosen to join a newly formed ensemble (along with Eddie Murphy!) and charged with one of the most difficult tasks in TV history, replacing the original cast of Saturday Night Live.  By the time he left the show in 1985, Joe had left his mark on the program, thanks to his wi...

This is from Saturday Night Live, when Eddie Murphy does a Velvet Jones skit. PLEASE feel free to comment or rate, AND check out my other impressions...THX
Earlier today I posted on my wall what I'd do if I had my own self-titled variety show, but I'd really just like to be part of a variety show where the cast is pretty much treated equally, as in credited in alphabetical order (which unfortunately means I'd be among the last credited), and I'd like to end up the break-out star, like Chevy Chase and Eddie Murphy on Saturday Night Live, John Candy on SCTV, or Jim Carrey on In Living Color.
Bill Hader, the first male performer on "Saturday Night Live" to be nominated as an actor on a Comedy Series since Eddie Murphy in 1983, talks about this rare feat - or perhaps learns about it for the first time.
This was a bit before my time, but I remember the Little Rascals. Remeber when Eddie Murphy did Buckwheat on Saturday Night Live! : D

Eddie Murphy is in desperate need of some career rehab. The Saturday Night Live alum used to be a sure thing in Hollywood. His family-friendly comedies like Dr.
Fun fact about Fred Rogers from Wikipedia: While he objected to a spoof of his show on Burger King ads, feeling it would confuse children (given the advertising context), "Fred Rogers found Eddie Murphy's parody of his show on Saturday Night Live, "Mister Robinson's Neighborhood," amusing and affectionate, which was also initially broadcast at a time of night when his own child audience was not likely to see it" ("Well it's one *** of a day in the neighborhood, would you be my? Could you be my? I have always wanted to live in a house like yours my friend/Maybe someday when you're away, I'll break in...")
Everything is so different now. It's like that Eddie Murphy skit, but upside down.
years ago Eddie Murphy did this sketch on Saturday Night Live where he dressed up as a white person to experience how white people live, it was called 'White Like Me', a spoof on a 60s era book called 'Black like Me'. And what he found out was that white people give each other money. And it was funny except -- well it's true! How many people of colour, or women, in the US Federal Reserve? The ECB? It's just a bunch of pencil necked WASP *** who read a bit of Ayn Rand and think they know something. And it's the same moral cowards who prattle on about the price of freedom, of democracy. Like every 20 years they have to roll back everyone's civil rights and tear gas people engaging in lawful assembly. Well the price of democracy is merely this: that the son of the Chinese guy who used to do your laundry is marrying your daughter, and your golf partner is someone like George Jefferson. And that is a price these white anglo saxon protestant stiffs will do anything to avoid paying. Well I got a news flash ...

Not so long ago, we had comedians like Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, Redd Foxx, and Eddie Murphy. We had funny shows like Def Comedy Jam and In Living Color. It's 2012, and what do we have today? Saturday Night Live being afraid of making fun of Obama, Tracy Morgan being persecuted for making fun of *** and black people behaving like retarded minstrels on Cartoon Network' s Adult Swim (looking at YOU Loiter Squad). Black people can't even be funny under Obama.. *** ??

Even though many consider the 1980-1981 season of Saturday Night Live to be the lowest point in the show, I find it quite amusing. Depictions of Carter and Reagan are telling of the political climate, Charles Rocket drops the F bomb live (about one decade before he played the bad guy on Dumb and Dumber, and about two decades before that unfortunate suicide), seeing a 19 year old Eddie Murphy play Bill Cosby, Gilbert Gottfried before he adopted the annoying voice, and Gail Matthius: way better than Tina Fey or Amy Poehler at Weekend Update. If only she wasn't going on 60...
