Satchel Paige & Babe Ruth

Leroy Robert Satchel Paige (July 7, 1906 – June 8, 1982) was an American baseball player whose pitching in the Negro leagues and in Major League Baseball made him a legend in his own lifetime. George Herman Ruth, Jr. (February 6, 1895 – August 16, 1948), best known as Babe Ruth and nicknamed the Bambino and the Sultan of Swat , was an American baseball player who spent 22 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) playing for three teams (1914–1935). 5.0/5

God Bless Ernie Banks! One of the greatest players that I've ever watched. He's a Southside of Chicago legend! I know when he laces up his cleats up in heaven, he'll be telling Babe Ruth, Satchel Paige and everyone else "Let's play two!" RIP Ernie!
I can't wait for the class action suit of Turkey Stearns, Satchel Paige, Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, and Ty Cobb against Acclaim.
What's better than baseball? How about FREE Vintage base ball on Fathers Day on the same field where some of the greats have played? How about a movie set? HOW ABOUT BOTH! That's right; TaoVBB will be hosting a free double-header on Fathers Day at Historic Engel Stadium in Chattanooga. Come see your favorite vintage ballists play at the same stadium where "42 - The Jackie Robinson Story" was filmed and the same dirt that baseball greats like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Hank Aaron, Satchel Paige, Willie Mays, Harmon Killebrew, Ferguson Jenkins, Kiki Cuyler, and Rogers Hornsby once played. RSVP below and let us know you're coming and PASS IT ALONG!
the other night, I cried myself to sleep after one of my bad moments, as I drifted off to sleep I had a vision. When you shut your eyes, sometimes you get spots of light. Well this is how mine vision started, but the light grew brighter like the north star, beacon light shining bright, then the light parted, revealing this beautiful place. As I stood in amazement, angels moved around me through the mist of the clouds, then as I moved forward, in the distance there stood a man in a long gown looking at me, I smiled for he was smiling, the man was an angel, my dad!!! He looked so wonderful and he looked peaceful. He is suffering no more, he came to me to let me know that he is alright and that we will be alright too, for he will always be near and watching over us, for he is our newest angel guiding us.love you dad!! We all love you and miss you!!! You must be playing ball with Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle along with Satchel Paige and Jackie Robinson and all the other greats!!. L ...

At work I got the honor to stand in the old locker rooms at League Park where some pretty famous people played ( Cy Young, Babe Ruth, Bob Feller, Ty Cobb, Satchel Paige) AND best of all where the Cleveland Indians played the 1920 World Series!! This is what I love about my job, getting to see Clevelands history brought back to life
Spent this afternoon debating the merits of Babe Ruth vs. Josh Gibson and who the better pitcher was, Satchel Paige vs. Walter Johnson. I love finding other baseball history nuts!
Started reading the Satchel Paige bio, & this fact in its preface got me. There are 14 full-length bios on Babe Ruth, 11 on Mickey Mantle.
“Babe Ruth was buried in a Joe Vott jersey” ...and neither one could hit Satchel Paige.
Visited Both the *** Baseball Museum and the Kansas City American Jazz Museum this weekend. Babe Ruth and all those other slackers should be glad that the tenor of the times , pure unadulterated racism , did not allow them to compete against the likes of Cool Papa Bell , Satchel Paige,Josh Gibson , Buck Leonard and countless others .
How would history be different if Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig had to face Smokey Joe Williams and Satchel Paige on a regular basis???
Craig please, Babe Ruth would have put Satchel Paige on the Deegan!
if Barry Bonds has an asterisk by his name? why does Babe Ruth not have one by his name? I mean in all reality some of the best pitchers were in the *** league! Did not have Satchel Paige or equivalent pitching to him all the time..
Stats were incredible and pitched for a very long time. Once dominated an All-Star lineup of players including Babe Ruth and many others.
Great day again at the Tomasek family reunion. I always knew my Grampa played baseball against Babe Ruth, but I found out he also played with Satchel Paige. Not sure about the spelling. He had An opportunity to turn pro, but declined because of family reasons. He played for 25 years with just one recorded error. Had he turned pro he would have certainly been a legend, but he will always be a hero to me because he chose his family over fame.
Played on the same field that Dizzy Dean, Babe Ruth, Shoeless Joe Jackson, Ty Cobb, Satchel Paige, Hank Aaro
Nobody will ever be better than the greats. Satchel Paige and Yogi Berra, Josh Gibson and Babe Ruth... Man.. I love baseball lol.
Today In Baseball History: 1891 In front of 10,000 fans, Cy Young beats Cincinnati, 12-3 in the first game ever played in Cleveland's League Park. 1920 At the Polo Grounds, Babe Ruth hits his 50th career home run which is his first as a Yankee. 1920 The longest game ever played ends after 26 innings in a 1-1 tie. Brooklyn Robin Leon Cadore and Brave Joe Oeschger both go the distance for their respective clubs. Braves' Charlie Pick establishes the major league record for hitless at-bats in one game as he goes 0-for-11 in the marathon.(Talk about lowering your BA by 50 points in a single swoop!!) 1926 The legendary Satchel Paige makes his pitching debut in *** Southern League. 1951 In a 8-3 loss to the Yankees at Comiskey Park, White Sox hurler Randy Gumpert gives up the first of Mickey Mantle's 536 major league home runs. The Mother’s Day blast, which will be worth $165,000 at Sotheby’s auction in 2004, is inscribed on by the future Hall of Famer own hand which includes the following detail on t . ...
