Rio to Buenos Aires (& Points Between) The clash of times. I’m a morning person, but Buenos Aires (Argentina) is a nite town, a late town. Ah, the Tango . . . After 3 weeks, my pidgeon Spanish has officially advanced from novice to intermediate. The nites of BA . . . Classic, Italian-inspired culture. Lots of Fiats, love of wine, cheese, and old-style restaurants with proper waiters in bow ties . . . “Portenos” are the proud residents of Buenes Aires (3 million, city; 13 million in the greater area], which is the capital & cultural center of Argentina. Argentina has 40 million people—larger than Canada, and land wise, its almost the size of India. But no nightlife til after midnite? I can’t be up that late generally, certainly not consistently. Dinner at 2 am? Kinda cool, and that’s when it cools down if you want to sit outside. Here in the states, only 20 something revelers and cocaine partiers stay out that late. Ah, the clash of cultures. Museums don’t eve open til 11 am or no ...
