In a press release put out Thursday, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's department revealed that they did know about Elliot Rodger's misogynistic videos before he went on a shooting rampage, but they hadn't watched them.

(Friday 01-04-13 at 1:30 PM) Santa Barbara County Sheriff's officials say the two burglary suspects who led the authorities on a high speed chase from Carpinteria to Oxnard Thursday morning have bailed out of jail. 25-year-old Justin Tyler Steele of Santa Paula, and, 22-year-old Ryan Anthony Ramos of Santa Paula, were tracked down and captured by Oxnard police after their vehicle crashed into a tree in an Oxnard neighborhood south of Oxnard Airport. Santa Barbara deputies say they recovered a large amount of stolen property, including the vehicle the suspects were driving. It's believed some of that property comes from Santa Barbara. They believe some of it was stolen Thursday morning. Anyone wanting to inquire about the property or who has information on the suspects is asked to call Detective Mike Scherbarth at (805) 684-5405 ext 423.
