Can the Philadelphia Eagles beat good teams? One of the common refrains following Philadelphia's brutal loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday seemed to echo the sentiment in the title of this post: that the Eagles can't beat a good team. It's easy to see why some people feel this way. Three of the Eagles' losses this season have come on the road to teams with winning records: the San Francisco 49ers, the Arizona Cardinals, and now the Green Bay Packers. But is really true? Are the Eagles incapable of beating good teams? Let's take a closer look. Let's start by looking at this season alone. Despite Philadelphia's losses to the 49ers, Cardinals, and Packers, Philadelphia did beat the Indianapolis Colts on the road in Week 2. It was the first time that Andrew Luck had ever lost back to back games... dating back to his freshman year at Stanford in 2009. One could try to say the Eagles didn't "deserve" to win that game due to a debatable non-call on Brandon Boykin, but what's done is done. Now, a comparison ...
If the season ended today, the Atlanta Falcons would get a home playoff game against the Green Bay Packers while the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks would be sitting on the couch eating popcorn. Is it time to change the playoff qualifications?

America's favorite football team is the Denver Broncos. Since 2007, the Dallas Cowboys have topped this Harris Poll as the favorite team of adults who follow professional football. The Cowboys have not only been unseated by the Broncos for the top spot, but also were sacked to fourth place. Coming in at number two in the 2015 rankings are the New York Giants, followed by the Green Bay Packers, according to the Harris Poll of 2,543 adults. All 32 NFL teams, ranked by favorite: 1. Crimson Tide in the NFL: The Alabama Crimson Tide is well-represented at the next level with several former players making a name for themselves in the National Football League. 1. WR Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons. Jones put together another impressive performance this season, catching nine passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns in the Falcons 56-14 blowout win over Tampa Bay Thursday night. Jones, who is in his fourth season, has already caught 23 balls for 365 yards and three scores in only three games. 2. DB Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Green Bay Packers. The rookie safety recorded his first interception of his pro career, picking off Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford in the Packers 19-7 loss to the Lions. Clinton-Dix also contributed one tackle and defended one pass. 3. DB Rashad Johnson, Arizona Cardinals. Rashad Johnson finished second in total tackles with eight in the Cardinals 23-14 win over the San Francisco 49ers. All eight of Johnson’s tackles were solo tackles. The sixth-year safety also tacked on ...
Let's go San Francisco 49ers even if I am a Green Bay Packers but I go for the 49ers in this game
What time of the year is it? Yes football season. You know what that means? Football predictions from yours truly. Again some know but if not I will not make predictions on Green Bay Packers games because the thing is when I make my predictions I do not want to be biased and Green Bay I would be. Plus since its week 1 I will explain who I think will be good and who will suck. Sorry its late but here we go 1. New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons: Now remember last year first game of season was in New Orleans for these opponents and there were High hopes for both teams but as you saw last year the falcons flopped. To me Matt Ryan and the Falcons in general are a very inconsistent team. One year they may win the division and then the next in last place. I just have zero faith in them. As for the Saints they will be great. They will take NFC South. They got a great team with great qb Drew Brees and one of the best tight ends in the league Jimmy Graham signing a new deal. They will be in the pl ...

1998 Garrison Hearst was the first player to ever be featured on a Madden cover, appearing on Madden NFL 99. Hearst's 1998 season was the best of his career, rushing for 1,570 yards and seven touchdowns. He led the San Francisco 49ers to the playoffs and a Wild Card win over the Green Bay Packers, but on the first play of the divisional game versus the Atlanta Falcons, he suffered a bad ankle break and his team would go on to lose the game. He was never the same and did not play again until 2001. 1999 Barry Sanders shared the cover with the then-customary picture of John Madden on Madden NFL 2000. However, a week before training camp began in 1999, Sanders abruptly retired - ending his career and leaving the Detroit Lions without their star running back of the previous 10 years. Because of his retirement, Barry Sanders is the only player not to be injured after appearing on the cover. 2000 Eddie George, then of the Tennessee Titans, who graced the Madden NFL 2001 box, is the next 'cursed' player. Last year's Super Bowl winner had to start the season on the road due to scheduling conflicts with the Baltimore Orioles. But there is no problem for Seattle in 2014. Their Home Games: Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, St. Louis Rams, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders I doubt the league would start the season with Seattle hosting St. Louis or Oakland, but the other 6 are all good candidates. Who do think will be the Seahawks' opponent to ring in the new season??? And why???

CHICAGO -- Aaron Rodgers and Randall Cobb came back just in time to lift the Green Bay Packers to the NFC North championship. Rodgers fired a 48-yard touchdown pass to Cobb in the final minute, and the Packers beat the Chicago Bears 33-28 to capture the division title. Back after missing seven games with a broken left collarbone, Rodgers found a wide-open Cobb on fourth-and-8 to wipe out a one-point deficit with 38 seconds left. Green Bay will host San Francisco next weekend in the wild-card round. The Bears had one final drive, but Jay Cutler's deep pass to Alshon Jeffery was intercepted by Sam Shields on the final play. That gave the Packers (8-7-1) their third straight division title and fifth postseason appearance in a row. It also kept the Bears (8-8) out of the playoffs for the sixth time in seven years. Things weren't looking great for the Packers after Chicago's Brandon Marshall spun away from Tramon Williams in the end zone on the first play of the fourth quarter to make it 28-20. But the Packers ...

Joe Montana, Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott just to name a few. So many fantastic games vs teams like the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers of the 90's...The Christmas Day game vs Houston Oilers and Warren Moon...these are only a few. I have taken thousands of photographs including the ones I took today vs the Seattle Seahawks. as I drove away from Candlestick Park tonight. I drove away with mixed emotions. I was elated to see that my Niners beat the Seahawks but saddened that I may never see this place again..,... I did leave my heart in San Francisco.

NFL Highlights (Sean version): The Cincinnati Bengals (9-4) improved to 6-0 at home as they took care of business against the visiting Indianapolis Colts (8-5) with the final score reading 28-42. The Cleveland Browns (4-9) ran into Foxborough Stadium a little too fast, as they fell short of a victory against the New England Patriots (10-3) as Browns K Billy Cundiff missed a 58 yd field goal attempt with no time remaining, 26-27. Kansas City (10-3) got back into their early season rhythm by snapping a 3 game losing streak against the Washington Redskins (3-10), as the final score read 45-10. The visiting Atlanta Falcons (3-10) attempted to extend the Green Bay Packers' losing streak as the Pack started without QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) yet again, but the Falcons were unable to do so as the Packers (6-6-1) snapped their 5 game losing streak, 21-22. The power ranking Seattle Seahawks (11-2) entered Candlestick Park in hopes on exiting with a big divisional win. However, San Francisco (9-4) managed to hol ...

Ok so all is not lost this weekend. Hearts, West Ham and the Green Bay Packers all lost but I can always rely on the San Francisco 49ers to cheer me up. I hate the niners almost as much as I love the packers. So thank you Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.
By Troy Sparks Green Bay – If the Green Bay Packers could erase what happened to them in San Francisco in Week 1, they would. But in the NFL, the players and coaches must have a short term memory because the next opponent is waiting. The Pack thought that 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick would leave the pocket and take off running, but he had a secret weapon in receiver Anquan Boldin. Kaepernick hurt Green Bay with his feet in last year’s playoffs and he beat them again, this time with his arm. Last year, Robert Griffin III did a lot of running when the pass protection broke down for the Washington Redskins in their read option offense. He suffered that horrible knee injury in the playoffs. None of that would be the case when Griffin III and his Redskins came to Lambeau Field, Sept. 15, to play the Packers. His thought process was changed, thanks to his head coach, Mike Shanahan, to stay in the pocket instead of scrambling. The Packers didn’t want to start the season 0-2. Before entering their fi ...
-- The price for hitting an NFL quarterback late is $15,000. That's what Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Clay Matthews found out Friday. In the second quarter of the Packers' Week 1 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, Colin Kaepernick scrambled and stepped out of bounds when Matthews leaped at him at a fully horizontal angle and tackled him after the whistle. The technical reason that Matthews was fined, according to an NFL spokesperson, was for "striking an opponent late." Matthews was not fined for anything that went on in the post-play scuffle. Matthews and 49ers offensive tackle Joe Staley fought briefly, with Staley being flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh thought Matthews threw "two punches to Joe's head; well, one punch and one open slap." Harbaugh criticized Matthews that both shots weren't punches. "If you're going to go to the face, come with some knuckles, not an open slap," Harbaugh told reporters Monday in San Francisco. "That young man (Matthews) wor ...
Mike McCarthy: Packers will stay above Jim Harbaugh’s comments Posted by Michael David Smith on September 10, 2013, 7:14 AM EDT San Francisco 49ers coach Harbaugh talks with Green Bay Packers coach McCarthy after they defeated the Packers in their NFL NFC Divisional playoff football game in San Francisco Reuters San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh got riled up about the sideline melee that erupted in Sunday’s game with the Packers. Green Bay Coach Mike McCarthy is taking a more mild-mannered approach. Harbaugh ripped Packers linebacker Clay Matthews for a “cheap shot” on 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and told Matthews that if he wants to be a “tough guy” he should have “come with some knuckles” instead of slapping 49ers offensive lineman Joe Staley. McCarthy said he talked to his team about Harbaugh’s comments, but that he won’t respond to Harbaugh publicly. “Clay Matthews is not a dirty player, by no means,” McCarthy said. “I addressed Harbaugh’s comments in the team meeting ...

In a high tension game, San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick threw for a whopping 412 yards including three touchdown passes in his 34-28 win over the Green Bay Packers.
NFL PRE SEASON RANKINGS 1) Seattle Seahawks- The Seahawks have dynamic playmakers on both sides of the ball along with a tremendous home field advantage. If there is an area of concern it could be at quarterback where there will be a tremendous amount of pressure on Russell Wilson. The second year signal caller will not be catching anyone by surprise this year. 2) Denver Broncos- Denver went 13-3 in Peyton Manning’s “knock the rust off” year. The addition of Wes Welker and running back Montee Ball to the offense will keep Defensive Coordinators up at night. 3) San Francisco 49ers- The Michael Crabtree injury was a huge blow to the offense and will put a lot of pressure on receivers like Kyle Williams and A.J. Jenkins. Colin Kaepernick better keep his track shoes ready. 4) Green Bay Packers- Aaron Rodgers being supported by a very productive running game (drafted rbs Eddie Lacy and Jonathan Franklin) could mean big things in Green Bay. 5) Atlanta Falcons- The Falcons are built to win on offense, but ...
Are you ready for some football?!  I know a small town in the state of Wisconsin certainly is.  the Green Bay Packers kickoff their 2013 season, at San Francisco, on September 8th.  “Opening Day is always exciting” Coach Mike McCarthy said.  Well, when your Opening Day is going on the road, to face the team who was your biggest barrier to the Super Bowl, I could think of a few more adjectives to describe that day.  Some may say the 49ers were the Packers’ “Achille’s Heel” in 2012, when they squared off on Opening Day (ironic?) AND in the NFC Divisional, in which they fell victim to Colin Kaepernick and lost 45-31.  The Packers ended their season with an overall record of 12-6 (technically it should’ve been 13-5) because of the now famous Russell Wilson “Fail Mary”, in which Seattle stole a 14-12 victory in week three.  I’m sure Green Bay would like to get their revenge on the Seahawks this season, but they will have to settle for an August 23rd preseason game that will be tel ...
Looks like Woodson might not be in our plans. From Matt Maiocco: Safety Charles Woodson, a veteran free agent, no longer views the 49ers as an option. Since Woodson visited the 49ers on March 13 -- a month after the Green Bay Packers released him -- the club signed former St. Louis Rams safety Craig Dahl to a three-year, $5.25 million contract on March 16 and traded up 13 spots in the first round to select LSU safety Eric Reid. Meanwhile, Woodson remains a free agent and has attracted very little attention and no contract offers. "Everyone knows I still want to play," Woodson said Thursday on a podcast with the NFL Network's Rich Eisen. "We really haven't heard from anyone at this point, really, much after visiting San Francisco. I left there and then they ended up signing another safety, a guy from St. Louis. And they got the young kid in the draft. So that's pretty much out the door." A week before the draft, the 49ers publicly kept the door open for Woodson. But general manager Trent Baalke made it cle ...
The Kansas City Chiefs preseason schedule is out: at New Orleans Saints (Aug. 8-11), San Francisco 49ers (Aug. 15-19), at Pittsburgh Steelers (Aug. 22-25) and the Green Bay Packers (Aug. 29-30). The regular season schedule is on its way.
I'll say it again: The NFC team the Green Bay Packers should fear most is Jim Harbaugh's reborn San Francisco 49ers.
Huge Selection of Helmets at Low Prices
Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins is scheduled to visit the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers next week, according to ESPN. Jenkins, 32, was released by the Eagles last Monday. He is reportedly meeting with Seattle this Monday and San Francisco on Tuesday. Jenkins already met with the New York Giants and reportedly has interest in returning to the Green Bay Packers, where he spent seven seasons earlier in his career. Jenkins started every game for Philadelphia in the last two years. He had four sacks last year. Do you think he would be a good fit? -JM
The Pittsburgh Steelers have won the most Super Bowls with six championships (record 6–2), while both the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers have five wins each (Cowboys 5–3; 49ers 5–1). Dallas and Pittsburgh have the most Super Bowl appearances with eight, while the Buffalo Bills have the most consecutive appearances with four losses in a row from 1991 to 1994. The New England Patriots, Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings have also lost a record four Super Bowls. Buffalo and Minnesota are both 0–4, Denver is 2–4 and New England is 3–4. The record for consecutive wins is two and is shared by seven franchises: the 1967-68 Green Bay Packers, the 1973-74 Miami Dolphins, the 1975-76 and 1979-80 Pittsburgh Steelers (the only team to accomplish this feat twice), the 1989-90 San Francisco 49ers, the 1993-94 Dallas Cowboys, the 1998-99 Denver Broncos, and the 2004-05 New England Patriots. Four current NFL teams have never appeared in a Super Bowl, including franchise relocations and renaming: the ...
So I saw Dave Dameshek post what he thinks which teams will be in the playoffs next year and he had teams like the Rams and Dolphins in there. So after pondering for just a few minutes I have come up with my own list: AFC: 1. Denver Broncos(13-3) 2. Houston Texans(12-4) 3. New England Patriots(10-6) 4. Pittsburgh Steelers(10-6) 5. Cincinnati Bengals(10-6) 6. Baltimore Ravens(9-7) (Close but no cigar(in order from best to worst): Colts, Bills, Chargers) NFC: 1. Seattle Seahawks(15-1) 2. Atlanta Falcons(12-4) 3. Green Bay Packers(12-4) 4. Washington Redskins(10-6) 5. San Francisco 49ners(11-5) 6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers(10-6) (Close but no cigar(" "): Saints, Vikings, Cowboys, Bears)
Favre returns to Super Bowl for NFL Network By BARRY WILNER Associated Press New Orleans — (AP) — Brett Favre is returning to the NFL — to work for the NFL Network. The retired three-time Super Bowl MVP quarterback will join the network’s crew for daylong coverage of Sunday’s NFL Championship Game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. Favre hasn’t been heard from much since retiring after the 2010 season. He returns to the city where he led the Green Bay Packers to a 35-21 win over New England in the 1997 Super Bowl. “I don’t miss the grind and stress of day-to-day football, but I do miss my teammates and coaches,” Favre said in an email to The Associated Press. He chose to appear on “NFL GameDay Morning” because he could work with friends such as Steve Mariucci, Deion Sanders and Warren Sapp, and because the game is in New Orleans. “Players and coaches who I have great memories of, and to do it from the field where I won a Super Bowl was a tough combination to pass ...
ELROY'S EXAM ANSWER: Four! The San Francisco 49ers won Super Bowl XVI (1981), Super Bowl XIX (1984), Super Bowl XXIII (1988), and Super Bowl XXIV (1989). This impressive string of championships earned them the title "Team of the 80s." They would also go on to win Super Bowl XXIX (1994), making them the first team in NFL history to win five Super Bowls. The Super Bowl teams were led by Hall of Famers Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, Steve Young, and coach Bill Walsh. With five Super Bowl wins, in 2012 the 49ers are tied with the Dallas Cowboys for the second-most Super Bowl wins. Including 2012, the Pittsburgh Steelers are in first place with six Super Bowl wins; however, the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears and New York Giants have more total NFL league championships. The 49ers remain the only team in NFL history to appear in more than one Super Bowl without ever losing. LET'S GO 49ERS!!
Michael Crabtree avoids charges Associated Press | January 26, 2013 San FranCISCO -- Criminal charges won't be filed against 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree after an alleged sexual assault in a hotel after the team's playoff victory over the Green Bay Packers, San Francisco's district attorney said Friday. After examining information submitted by police, district attorney George Gascon said his office determined that no charges would be filed "at this time." Sando: Repercussions Still Apparent The lack of charges against Michael Crabtree isn't a surprise, but the receiver and the Niners must deal with the fallout, Mike Sando writes. Blog "The San Francisco Police Department -- Special Victims Unit completed and submitted a thorough investigation of the allegations against Michael Crabtree," Gascon said. Crabtree's attorney, Joshua Bentley, didn't immediately return a call seeking comment. San Francisco police said Crabtree was never detained or arrested in the matter, and that he cooperated fully wit ...
Reports indicate that the Philadelphia Eagles will be giving Ed Donatell, who is currently the San Francisco 49ers secondary coach and very hard look to land the Defensive Coordinator job. Donatell was the Defensive Coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, and the University of Washington Huskies. He also was a special assistant to the New York Jets. He is currently serving as the secondary coach for the NFC champion 49ers, and held the same position with the Denver Broncos while Dawkins was on the team. -DB.
The Patriots and 49ers have the best early odds to win Super Bowl XLVIII, as released by LVH (Las Vegas Hotel & Casino) on Jan. 14. New England (6-1) Another offseason with a sour taste in their mouths after a playoff exit. San Francisco (8-1) Heading to the Super Bowl for first time in 18 years with a great young QB, defense. Denver Broncos (8-1) Won’t question Peyton in 2013, but Denver figures to have tougher schedule. Green Bay Packers (10-1) Loss to 49ers puts offseason focus on improving the defense. Seattle Seahawks (10-1) Ahead of most teams with their talent at QB, RB and in the secondary. Houston Texans (12-1) Have made great strides, but Patriots showed how far away Houston is. Atlanta Falcons (15-1) Like the 2012 season, Falcons not getting a ton of early respect from Vegas. Pittsburgh Steelers (15-1) Could be a much different Steelers team after disappointing 2012. New Orleans Saints (15-1) With Sean Payton back, bounty stuff over, Saints are on the upswing. Baltimore Ravens (20-1) A new Ra ...
San Francisco 49ers vs. Green Bay Packers, after our National Anthem! @ Candlestick Park
And to the Green Bay Packers and their fans. I was in San Francisco yesterday and there were cheese heads every where strutting around and sporting their Packer jerseys. They even had the Hard Rock Cafe rented out for a private party all day to Packer fans. I gotta say, wearing your Packer jerseys to the game is one thing, strutting around the city all day with puffed chests is a bit much. Well, glad to see the Packer fans in the city had their moment that was BEFORE the game.bye, bye Packers and especially Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has to be one of the dumbest QB's in the league...
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver met with reporters in the locker room following the team's playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Driver talked about what his future holds.
Apprehensive? Relax enjoy the game... ATLANTA - After the Seahawks dropped their season opener to the Cardinals in Arizona, you had to wonder how this team could ever make it to the postseason. But here they are, on the eve of playing the Falcons in a divisional playoff game at the Georgia Dome on Sunday - with the winner advancing to next week's NFC Championship Game against the winner of Saturday Night's game between the Green Bay Packers and 49ers in San Francisco. How is this possible? How did that team that lost to the Cardinals by four points manage to win 11 games, including five in a row to close the regular season, and then knock off a Redskins team that was riding a seven-game winning streak in last week's wild-card game in Washington? The simple answer? These Seahawks are not those Seahawks. "I think about that first Arizona game and the team that's getting ready to play the Falcons, it's like night-and-day different," said Chris Maragos, a backup safety and special teams standout. "There are s ...
Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers go at each other in a Divisional Playoff game tonight at Candlestick Park. 7 PM CST on FOX-TV.
2012 Green Bay Packers 2013 NFC Divisional Playoff Preview: For the Green Bay Packers a win tonight would get them in the NFC Championship Game for the 2nd time in 3 years and it would exact revenge on a home opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers at Lambeau Field in week 1 of the regular season. In contrast these two teams are very different from when they faced each other in week 1 The 49ers have gone with QB Colin Kapernick instead of Alex Smith and the 49ers defense isnt as healthy with a banged up DE Justin Smith. The Packers on the other hand have gotten their running game going with RB’s DuJuan Harris and Ryan Grant and now coming back from injury RB James Starks also all 4 Packers premier WR’s are healthy on the defensive side Charles Woodson has re-energized a somewhat young secondary and rookie CB Casey Hayward as step-up huge throughout the season. So it all comes down to tonight from Candlestick Park in San Francisco,CA. In order for the Packers to win tonight’s game their offensive lin ...
Packer Nation - For all you Packer Fans, enjoy the stories below and for those that are not, this will convert you When the Green Bay Packers meet the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL playoffs Saturday Night, the hopes and dreams of a nation will be riding on the outcome. Packer Nation. On Guernsey Island, off the coast of Normandy in the English Channel, Paul De La Mare will cheer for the team he adopted in the 1980s, when he discovered American football on the Armed Forces Radio Network. In Rome, orthopedic surgeon Stefano Ruzzini, 61, will be as emotionally involved as any Packers fan in Appleton or Little Chute. Why? Ruzzini lived in Wauwatosa as an AFS student in 1967-'68, the tail end of the Glory Years in Green Bay. He's been a die-hard ever since. In Montreal, Hugues Bertrand, who teaches a high school leadership class and refers often to the example of Vince Lombardi - the iconic coach he read about as a teenager - will be glued to the television. And, of course, in living rooms across Wisconsin, . ...
The Mind Of A Mad Dog has made predictions for this weekend's NFL Divisional Round matchups: Saturday's matchups: Denver Broncos 21 Baltimore Ravens 17 The cold weather and possible snow fall may play a huge role in the inconsistencies of this game. Manning does poorly in colder postseason games but defeating the Ravens in every meeting since 2002 bodes well for the Broncos chances of winning this game. Green Bay Packers 29 San Francisco 49ers 23 The 49ers defense's only chance of stopping the Packers offense is by their impressive pass rush led by Aldon Smith. But in the end, the Packers have the better (and more experienced) quarterback in Aaron Rodgers, who leads his team to victory in the 4th quarter. Sunday's matchups: Seattle Seahawks 34 Atlanta Falcons 18 Falcons receivers Julio Jones and Roddy White will have to put up a big fight in order to get open on the Seahawks big and fast secondary. The Seahawks Pro Bowl running back Marshawn Lynch will carry the load and his team towards victory on the ro ...
Divisional Playoff Picks of the Week: - 49ers over Packers - Patriots over Texans - Ravens over Broncos - Seahawks over Falcons Three of the four games this weekend could go either way, and in my opinion, these are as tough as playoff predicitons get. First, the Green Bay Packers visiting the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park is the Game of the Week with the highly touted Rodgers-led offense challenging the balance of a San Fran team that I have going to New Orleans. I like the 49ers in primteime Saturday Night and look for the Kapernick-Crabtree duo to continue as the 9'ers make enough plays to aid their defense and get the W. Second, the Seattle Seahawks have been on fire and proved their legitmiacy last week beating RG III, Morris, and the Redskins on the road, yet now they head to Atlanta to face the number one seeded Falcons who have something to prove following a few years of playoff disappointment. This will be a close one and could also be the Game of the Week, but I like the Seattle defense ...
I'm feeling like the San Francisco 49er's are going to have their hands full with the Green Bay Packers. At least they don't have to go to Lambeau Field. Hope Justin Smith can play. Colin Kaepernick has to play his best, with no mistakes.
"We are bringing our brand of football with us to San Francisco" - Coach Mike McCarthy, Green Bay Packers
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -- The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for next week's divisional-round playoff game as if they already know their opponent. With a first-round bye and the weekend off, a trio of San Francisco scout teamers wore the jerseys numbers of key Green Bay Packers targets during Friday's practice. They simulated top Green Bay wide receivers Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson along with tight end Jermichael Finley as third-string 49ers quarterback Scott Tolzien tossed passes. Let's prove them WRONG tonight!
With the NFL playoffs beginning this weekend, WB&A Market Research asked people nationwide who they believe will end up playing in the Super Bowl. Coming in strong for the AFC are the New England Patriots (27%) and Denver Broncos (24%). Topping the list for the NFC are the San Francisco 49ers (18%), Green Bay Packers (13%) and Atlanta Falcons (11%). While the odds of a Battle of the Beltways are slim, 8% believe the Redskins will be the NFC contender and 4% are backing the AFC Ravens. Our national survey was conducted by telephone from December 18th to January 3rd. Stay tuned for additional predictions leading up to the big game!
2013 schedule: "...will not be released until the spring. But the Redskins know that they will host the Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers. The Redskins also will play road games against the Denver Broncos, whom Shanahan coached from 1995-2008, the Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders, Green Bay Packers and at Dallas, Philadelphia and New York."
Power Rankings Week 17 1. Denver Broncos - 10 game winning streak, who can cool off Manning? Nobody. 2. Atlanta Falcons - 2 WR's over 1000 yds, but a average to poor running game. What happens when this team meets a top 5 secondary? 3. Seattle Seahawks - Nobody in the NFL is wrecking teams on both sides of the ball like Seattle is. Russell Wilson is the real deal. 4. Green Bay Packers - They've won 9 of 10, and just starting to get healthy. Does this team have a ceiling? 5. San Francisco 49ers - They got blown out in Seattle, but they have 5 Super Bowl Rings, so apparently it doesn't matter. =) 6. New England Patriots - Brady leads a 4th ranked passing game, complimented by a 8th ranked rushing attack. Secondary has issues though. 7. Washington Redskins - If they can start playing defense, the sky is the limit. 8. Houston Texans - This team is getting less impressive by the week. Barely beat the Bears and Jason Campbell, Jags took them to OT, and have lost 2 of the last 3. hmmm.. 9. Indianapolis Colts - L ...
The best team in football is the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers,
The NFL Playoff Picture got clearer after yesterday as the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans won big, while the San Francisco 49ers survived a rally to defeat the Patriots at home. With two weeks left, who will punch their ticket to the postseason next? And after last night's WWE TLC, how will John Cena - WWE Universe and Dolph Ziggler - WWE Universe react to the shocking betrayal of A.J Lee - WWE Universe...and will Ziggler now make good on his guarantee to end 2012 as World Heavyweight Champion?
The Week 15 Game of the Week is going to be a little bit different this week. There are 5 pretty great games out there and hard to choose just one. What we are going to offer this week only are multiple games. The prize is $130 and again the exact result still needs to be guessed to win. However, you can only choose one of the five games to pick and guess, so choose the most confident. We could have multiple winners or a carry over but it should be fun! The five to choose from: Indianapolis Colts vs Houston Texans. - Denver Broncos vs Baltimore Ravens. - Green Bay Packers vs Chicago Bears. - New York Giants vs Atlanta Falcons. - San Francisco 49ers vs New England Patriots. Predictions will close 5 minutes prior to each game and same rules apply. Again, only one pick per person will count. Good Luck!
The top 10 teams in the Power Rankings for week 15 are: 1. New England Patriots (10-3) 2. Denver Broncos (10-3) 3. Houston Texans (11-2) 4. San Francisco 49ers (9-3-1) 5. Atlanta Falcons (11-2) 6. Green Bay Packers (9-4) 7. New York Giants (8-5) 8. Baltimore Ravens (9-4) 9. Indianapolis Colts (9-4) 10. Seattle Seahawks (8-5) The Washington Redskins are ranked number 12 moving up 2 spots from 14th. The biggest jump in the rankings goes to the Cleveland Browns who moved up 4 spots from 24th to 20th. The biggest drop in the rankings is a tie between the New Orleans Saints dropping 4 spots from 18th to 22nd and the Detroit Lions dropping 4 spots from 21st to 25th.
The final Week 14 and Week 15 NFL schedules were announced today with the originally scheduled Week 14 Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers and Week 15 San Francisco 49ers at New England Patriots games remaining in place on NBC's Sunday Night Football.
What a great football weekend. First, Notre Dame wins a berth in the BCS National Championship in early January, then the Bears recover from an embarrassing loss in San Francisco with a beat-down of the Minnesota Vikings, and the Green Bay Packers get pummeled by the New York Giants. It's weekends like this that make me love football...now if only I married a woman who loved football just the same. Oh well...can't please everybody.
These are all my NFL predication picks for week 12 of this 2012 season: *Bye weeks for all 32 teams are over* Chicago Bears over Minnesota Vikings: 24-21 Cincinnati Bengals over Oakland Raiders: 28-14 Pittsburgh Steelers over Cleveland Browns: 17-14 Indianapolis Colts over Buffalo Bills: 32-24 Denver Broncos over Kansas City Chiefs: 31-12 Seattle Seahawks over Miami Dolphins: 28-21 Tampa Bay Buccaneers over Atlanta Falcons: 35-27 Jacksonville Jaguars over Tennessee Titans: 25-22 Baltimore Ravens over San Diego Chargers: 23-19 New Orleans Saints over San Francisco 49ers: 31-23 Arizona Cardinals over St. Louis Rams: 24-21 Green Bay Packers over New York Giants: 38-31 Carolina Panthers over Philadelphia Eagles: 31-16 My record was 10-4 for week 11 of this 2012 NFL season:) If you have any questions about my NFL picks just asked and I will answer them for you:)

Legendary players that Notre Dame has produce in the last 125 years a few to mention Joe Theisman of the Washington Redskins, Joe Montana of the San Francisco 49ers, Paul Hornung of the Green Bay Packers, Rocket Ismail of the Dallas Cowboys, Mark Bavaro of the New York Giants, Dave Casper and Tim brown of the Oakland Raiders and Rocky Blere and Jerome Bettis of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Chicago Bears must really suck because the San Francisco 49ers beats Chicago 32-7 tonight on Monday Night Football. Minnesota Vikings are a game behind the Chicago Bears and the hated Green Bay Packers.
Ballot and comments from AP Pro 32 panel voter Clifton Brown of Sporting News: Week 11 Clifton Brown (Sporting News) 1. Houston Texans -- Tough victory at Soldier Field earns Texans the No. 1 spot. 2. San Francisco 49ers -- If they have to play longer without Alex Smith, they will miss him. 3. Atlanta Falcons -- We knew they were not going undefeated, but they are still very good. 4. Denver Broncos -- The more you see, the more you realize the Broncos are dangerous. 5. Chicago Bears -- Jason Campbell must step up if the Bears have to go without Jay Cutler. 6. New England Patriots -- The defense still needs to improve, but the offense is just fine. 7. Green Bay Packers -- Having Aaron Rodgers makes their injuries easier to deal with. 8. Pittsburgh Steelers -- Big Ben's injury is a big concern. They can only go so far without him. 9. Baltimore Ravens -- Two games vs. Pittsburgh in three weeks could decide AFC North. 10. New Orleans Saints -- If defense can hold up, the offense could carry Saints to playoffs ...
Top five NFL teams at this moment for this week. If you agree like. If not, comment. 5. New York Giants 4. Green Bay Packers 3. Chicago Bears 2. Houston Texans 1. Atlanta Falcons (Close sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth: New England Patriots and Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens, and San Francisco 49ers)
My bad peoples.I found a mistake. My spreadsheet had a mistake in it and didn't add in a win for the 49ers, so let's try this again. Since tomorrow night will not have an impact on my version of the NFL Top 12 then we can start the debate early. 1,2 and 3 should be no-brainers. Starting at I will probably get grief, but keep in mind that the Seahawks have beaten more teams that were in the top 10 when they played them than anyone else on this list. I absolutely can't wait to see battle next Sunday Night. 1. Atlanta Falcons 2. Houston Texans 3. Chicago Bears 4. San Francisco 49ers 5. Seattle Seahawks 6. Green Bay Packers 7. Baltimore Ravens 8. New York Giants 9. Denver Broncos 10. Pittsburgh Steelers 11. Indianapolis Colts 12. Minnesota Vikings
It is time for the good, the bad and the ugly. The good: Aaron Rodgers threw 6 touchdowns to give Green Bay Packers 42-24 win over the Houston Texans. The bad: The New York Giants destroyed the San Francisco 49ers 26-3. Alex Smith is not an elite quarterback. The ugly: Ray Lewis and Lardarius Webb of the Baltimore Ravens are out for the season due to injuries. They can kiss their trip to the Super Bowl this year goodbye. Have a great day everybody!
Alright these are my Top 7 NFL teams regardless of tonights results 1. San Francisco 49ers (They have all the tools but, I'm not an Alex Smith believer) 2. New York Giants (They're still the Champs) 3. New England (Tom Brady Nuff Said) 4. Green Bay Packers (Better for them to lose early in the season rather than late) 5. Houston Texans (Not a believer yet but they have earned my respect) 6. Atlanta Falcons ( Don't see them winning it all) 7. Washington Redskins (As a Redskin Hater, I love everything about them this year :\)
I can't decide who my favorite NFL team should be. Every year I choose a different team. So I'm going to let my friends vote for me. Out of these teams who should be my favorite permanently. 1. New York Giants 2. New Orleans Saints 3. Green Bay Packers 4. Denver Broncos 5. Minnesota Vikings 6. Indianapolis Colts 7. San Francisco 49ers
A little grass roots NFL Power Rankings thing. What a week. The Saints finally won, the Packers look ordinary and the Texans and Falcons continue to chase perfection. Here's this week's stuff: 1) Houston Texans - Still on top, still getting the job done. 2) Atlanta Falcons - Now 3-0 on the road, the Falcons are becoming scary good. 3) New England Patriots - 200+ yards on the ground in back to back weeks. Too many weapons. 4) San Francisco 49ers - This week hosting the Giants, a win could move this team up to Minnesota Vikings - Yes, I'm still shocked. Holding Fast: Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, Chicago Bears. On the Rise: Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams, Indianapolis Colts. Falling: Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins. Stink Ahoy: Kansas City Chiefs, Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders. Game of the week: St. Louis Rams at Miami Dolphins (PICK: Dolphins 21, Rams 20) Yours?
Miami Dolphins or Cincinnati Bengals: Bengals Score: 14-17 Bengals will win by a Field goal Green Bay Packers or Indianapolis Colts: Packers Score: 24-10 Baltimore Ravens or Kansas City Chiefs: Ravens Score: 28-3 Blow out Cleveland Browns or New York Giants: Giants Score: 6-21 Philadelphia Eagles or Pittsburgh Steelers: Eagles Score: 35-28 It will be a tight game but the Eagles will win in the end. Atlanta Falcons or Washington Redskins: Falcons Score: 24-17 Seattle Seahawks or Carolina Panthers: Seahawks Score: 20-17 I Think it will go in overtime and the Seahawks are gonna pull it off. Chicago Bears or Jacksonville Jaguars: Bears Score: 21-14 Tennessee Titans or Minnesota Vikings: Vikings Score: 12-28 Denver Broncos or New England Patriots: Patriots Score: 13-35 Buffalo Bills or San Francisco 49ers: 49ers Score: 21-31 San Diego Chargers or New Orleans Saints: Chargers Score: 16-10 Game of the Week, Monday Night Football New York Jets or Houston Texans: Texans Score: 10-35 Player to Watch: Halfback Arian ...
Its be been years since I have been in the Bay Area at this time of year to experience the spectator sport scene. This year local teams have been very successful and most of the teams have played very well and provided very exciting times for all their fans. I just got back from watching the San Francisco Giants clinch the National League West Pennant. We were able to witness many exciting wins, including some against their biggest rivals the Dodgers at beautiful sold-out AT&T Park overlooking San Francisco Bay. While Candlestick Park is an old and much criticized venue the San Francisco 49ers make it seem very beautiful when you can get out to witness this well coached undefeated team handily beat the Detroit Lions. Fans have been super excited and supportive and the energy level very high at all the games. On television we were also able to watch the underdog 49ers open their season by beating the favored Green Bay Packers at hostile Lambeau Field in Wisconsin, and in college football we were able to w ...
Packers-Seahawks: "The first two weeks of the season didn't go quite as smoothly as the Green Bay Packers probably hoped given that they didn't have to leave Lambeau Field. Spending four of the next five weekends on the road may not make things much easier. That stretch begins Monday night at one of the NFL's tougher venues for visitors as the Seattle. Seahawks look to build on an impressive win in their home opener. The Packers (1-1) recovered from their season-opening loss to San Francisco by beating rival Chicago 23-10 last Thursday night, forcing Jay Cutler into four interceptions and limiting the Bears to 168 total yards. This week, though, they were still dealing with questions about an incident between Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver James Jones, who accepted blame for the interception that led Rodgers to voice his displeasure with his teammate." He apologized, said he's sorry for showing his emotions," Jones said. "But I was like, (there's) no need to apologize. We're trying to win. I messed up. F ...
The NFL Power Rankings are in, here are the top 5 teams thus far, Im sure yall already know who is.5. Philadelphia Eagles (2-0): Philly will eventually stop giving the ball away four times a game...right? 4. Green Bay Packers (1-1): Looks like Aaron Rodgers and company will be just fine. Clay Matthews is an early POTY candidate. 3. Houston Texans (2-0): Houston is very good, and they currently have the best pass defense in the league. I still want to see how they play against teams other than Miami and Jacksonville, though. 2. Atlanta Falcons (2-0): The Georgia Dome continues to be a fortress for Matty Ice. The Atlanta defense won Monday's game in the first quarter. 1. San Francisco 49ers (2-0): Don't think anybody would argue that the Niners are kings of all NFL Power Rankings. I DO NOT LIKE THIS AT ALL! Green Bay, Wis.—Donald Driver played three snaps against San Francisco, losing snaps mostly to second-year receiver Randall Cobb. Driver is clearly the fifth receiver on one of the best units in the NFL, but it probably wouldn’t be smart to count him out when it comes to playing time. He has always come through when others struggle and it won’t be long before James Jones or Cobb go through some kind of slump. Driver will be there to pick up the slack and when he does, it’s likely the coaches will have a hard time keeping him off the field. Green Bay Packers report: Donald Driver, 37, one of 36 players in NFL history with 10,000 yards receiving, played three snaps in the opener and did not have a reception. (AP Photo)For now, however, he’s going to have to wait for an opportunity.
The Green Bay Packers opened the 2012 season with a disappointing 30-22 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, but inside the box score was the story of a rookie making his NFL debut. Here is the journey of linebacker Dezman Moses from warm ups to the post game locker room.

On Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers marched into Lambeau Field and put a beat down on the favored Green Bay Packers 30-22. The score is not necessarily indicative of the direction of the game, as the 49ers led 23-7 in the 4th quarter. Jim Harbaugh's offense hit on all cylinders while Green ...
Jay Cutler tells Green Bay Packers DBs: 'Good Luck' Jay Cutler has beaten the Green Bay Packers just once in six tries during his time with the Chicago Bears . The Packers have found success disrupting Cutler's rhythm by playing physical against smaller Bears wide receivers. That won't be nearly as easy with Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery lining up Thursday night . The fresh blood has Cutler feeling confident. "Good Luck," Cutler said, via CSNChicago.com . "We invite press coverage. We invite man." "It's all about matchups," Marshall said. "I'm 6-5, 230 pounds and there's not too many DBs walking around that big. "If they want to get physical, I do welcome that." The Packers will be in a nasty mood after their stinker against the San Francisco 49ers . The Bears are looking to make a statement in the NFC North. Football is back. Everything in its right place .
San Francisco 49ets linebacker Ahmad Brooks. Leaps up to sack Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and thwart the packers final drive on Sunday 30/22
In what will likely be the best game of Week 1, the San Francisco 49ers earned their first win at Lambeau Field since 1990 with a 30-22 victory over the Green Bay Packers. With more physical play and great defense when it came to limiting big plays downfield by Aaron Rodgers, the 49ers played an all...

Via Wikipedia "The Green Bay Packers rivalry emerged in the mid 1990s when the Packers upset the 49ers in the 1995 NFC Divisional game at Candlestick Park, ending any chance of a Super Bowl repeat. From that point the Packers beat the 49ers 4 more times including 2 post-season games. San Francisco was finally able to exact revenge in the 1998 NFC Wild Card Round, a game that is remembered by a dramatic 25-yard game winning touchdown reception by Terrell Owens off a Steve Young pass (referred to by many as The Catch II) lifting the 49ers over the Packers 30–27. Since that game the Packers have beaten the 49ers eight straight times including once in the 2001 post-season. The 49ers trail the all-time series with a record of 26–34–1, which includes a postseason record of 1–4." Let's make it 9 in a row!

Former Raider Ben Davidson dies at 72 ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — Ben Davidson, the hulking defensive end who starred for the Oakland Raiders in the 1960s before becoming a famous television pitch man, has died. He was 72. Davidson died Monday night. He was being treated for prostate cancer. Former Raiders coach John Madden first reported Davidson's death Tuesday on KCBS radio in San Francisco. Davidson spent 11 years in pro football, starting with the Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins in the NFL before joining the Raiders in the AFL in 1964. That's where the 6-foot-8 Davidson became famous. With his distinctive handlebar mustache, raspy voice and physical play, Davidson helped personify Al Davis' renegade Raiders on the 1960s. "He was a tough, gutsy ballplayer, team oriented with enough meanness in him to be feared and enough talent to be effective," former Raiders teammate Tom Flores said. Flores, who recently played golf with Davidson, got the news while in Las Vegas for a celebration of Davis, wh ...
