For those of you that see "American Sniper", you're gonna leave thinking that it was depressing, horrible and downright messed up. But guess what, it's real. Messed up stuff like that really happened in places like Fallujah, Tikrit, Baghdad, and Mosul. It straight up *** but because of hundreds of thousands of people like Chris Kyle, none of that happened in places like San Diego, or New York, or Chicago, or Boston, or Atlanta, or St. Louis.
25 Interesting (and Odd) Brooklyn Facts 1) While most people know it as simply Brooklyn, this New York borough also goes by the name Kings County and the “Borough of Homes and Churches.” 2) Brooklyn was originally its own separate city. It was not until the turn of the nineteenth century that Brooklyn merged with the City of New York. Many Brooklyn residents called the move “the Great Mistake of 1898.” 3) Brooklyn has approximately 2.5 million residents, which means if it were to be separated from the rest of New York City, Brooklyn would become the 4th most populous U.S. city. 4) Brooklyn is the 7th most populous county in the United States behind such major cities as Los Angeles and San Diego. 5) While physically located on the island, Brooklyn is not considered a part of Long Island. 6) To make matters more confusing, the Brooklyn History Museum was called the Long Island Historical Society up until the 1980s 7) Brighton Beach is home to the largest concentration of Russian immigrants in New Yo ...

New York: A drone detected NASA's unmanned spacecraft Orion splash down into the Pacific Ocean, 600 miles south-west of San Diego. Named Ikhana, the drone flew to capture the splash down as Orion completed its first voyage to space - travelling farther than any spacecraft designed for astronauts has done in more than 40 years. The word Ikhana has native American origins and means intelligent, conscious or aware. Ikhana's infra-red cameras detected the capsule and the optical cameras then streamed the video to viewers at NASA and elsewhere. The spotting by the drone helped the US Navy vessels move in faster to recover the capsule. The Ikhana is just one of NASA's many programmes that utilise drones, Popular Science reported. In 2013, NASA flew drones into an active volcano to study the effects of volcano-specific smog.

Bermuda to host 2017 America's Cup - report 11:45 AM Friday Nov 21, 2014 The tax haven of Bermuda has been picked over San Diego to host the 2017 America's Cup, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press today. But Team New Zealand says it hasn't been told of any decision. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because defending champion Oracle Team USA, based in San Francisco, hasn't made the decision public. The person said software billionaire Larry Ellison of Oracle Corp. made the decision after consulting with the CEO of his sailing team, New Zealander Russell Coutts, who also is director of the America's Cup Event Authority. However, Emirates Team New Zealand CEO Grant Dalton released a statement this afternoon saying the team had not been told of any decision. "We have been invited to a press conference to be held at New York on December 2 when the announcement will be made. Until then it is only media speculation. "San Diego and Bermuda are the only potential venues lef ...

Vacation spots I don't care to ever go to.. Florida, LA, New York, Bahamas.. take me to Seattle, San Diego, Boston, Maine, Portland instead.
Ladies and gentlemen, whereas Cincinnati dismantled Tennessee 33-7, whereas San Diego upset Buffalo 22-10, whereas New York thumped Houston 30-17, whereas Seattle downed Denver 26-20 in overtime, and whereas Baltimore snuck past Cleveland 23-21, therefore I have the honor and privilege of saying that our Cincinnati Bengals, who now stand 3-0, are the AFC's last undefeated team, hold a one game lead and a head to head tiebreaker over the Baltimore Ravens, and hold a two game advantage over the Cleveland Browns. And last but not least, I hope Carolina spanks Pittsburgh tonight to cap it off. WHO-DEY! Go Bengals! Beat up the Patriots!

Another highly notorious Hollywood scandal was that of the mysterious death of film mogul Thomas Harper Ince. Born in 1882 in Newport, Rhode Island, to a family of stage actors, he made his first stage appearance at age six, and debuted on Broadway at age 15 in 1898. Starting out as a struggling actor, he met and married Biograph contract actress Elinor Kershaw in New York and she helped him land his first job making films. It wasn’t until he left to work for Independent Motion Pictures in 1910 that he had his first big break when he talked owner Carl Laemmle into sending him to Cuba to direct full time out of reach of the Motion Pictures Patent Company which was attempting to put the smaller production companies out of business. It was here that he became drawn to Westerns and American Civil War dramas, and he envisioned a bright future producing with minimal facilities like D. W. Griffith in Hollywood. Moving to Edendale, California (now part of Echo Park), Ince revolutionized the film making pro ...

The now nationally discussed medical fears are beginning to manifest. Reports by Border Patrol facilities holding illegal children and military bases used likewise, now report strong cases, and quickly spreading cases of pneumonia, TB, scabies, parasitic diseases not even seen previously in America, sexually transmitted diseases, severe swine flu. Isolated for now, cases of Polio are reported in southern states. A Navy base in San Diego has been forced to seal a portion of the base due to severe pneumonia by illegal children. Just today, reports are beginning to reach the light of day of leprosy cases in New York and other severe skin diseases from illegal children dropped off in that city. We have not even begun to see the health challenges awaiting us from these third-world children, and when school opens in a month, their co-mingling will create potential nightmares given that most of these diseases have a 30-45 day incubation period, which period should expire about the time of the school season. ...

Today in 1927: Charles Lindbergh set a new transcontinental speed record when he completed a flight from San Diego to New York in 21 hours, 40 minutes in the "Spirit of St. Louis." During the flight, a crack developed in the aluminum behind the propeller, forcing replacement of the propeller spinner and nose cone prior to departing on his historic solo transatlantic flight on May 20, 1927. Both nose cones are on display at the Museum in Washington, DC:

ROCK NEWS - Steely Dan announces first two dates of 'Jamalot Ever After' tour 4/4/2014 The full itinerary is still forthcoming, but you can add Steely Dan to the legendary veterans heading out on the road this summer. So far the group -- led by Donald Fagen and Walter Becker -- has only two dates on the books for their Jamalot Ever After tour, playing on July 17th at San Diego, California’s Humphrey's On The Bay and August 8th in Niagara Falls, New York at the Seneca Events Center. This year’s outing follows last year’s trek -- the Mood Swings 2013: 8 Miles To Pancake Day tour. As expected, Steely Dan will probably devote a string of shows to performing full albums in their entirety. Back in 2009, Walter Becker admitted that he and Donald Fagen thought neither long nor *** the prospect of the band playing its album's in their entirety for fans: "Well, it just seemed a format for our material that was pre-existing and that to some extent had a contour to it. Y'know, if we did those songs in the o ...
George Mitrovich, San Diego civic leader for Tuesday, 25 March 2014 "Gloria Steinem Turns 80" Gail Collins paid tribute to Gloria Steinem, who turns 80 today, in this past Sunday's New York Times. Reading her celebration of Ms. Steinem's life brought on a flood of memories. What follows is my own tribute to this very great person. Gloria Steinem and I have been friends since 1969. The origins of that friendship began in a phone booth outside the U.S. Senate's Caucus Room in the Russell Building on Capitol Hill. Someone had given me Ms. Steinem's number in New York and I called to introduce myself, to tell her I had worked for Bobby Kennedy and that I wanted to know her. She asked, "Do you ever come to Manhattan?" I said I did, and she said the next time I came, she would be happy to meet me. We met over dinner that first time, followed by many other dinners and luncheons in the city and sometimes in Washington. As the press secretary to Senator Charles Goodell of New York, it was in my interest to know Gl ...

Good morning folks, have an interesting item that came in yesterday. A cream and milk bottle that the artwork is very well done with a sunrise, milk cow, trees, landscape and clouds and a bottom date of 1914. Probably one of the most detailed/crisp artwork cream bottles I have ever seen. On the reverse side is Hatz Market but no city. Only one I can find on the net was after WW2 in Alton Iowa, so that's not it. And who knows, this little treasure might be from upstate New York or warm and breezy San Diego. The seller didn't know where he had picked this item up or it's history. We'll probably never know but it is a pretty neat little item. :)

1980 San Diego In 1980 when he was 20 and single he left his hometown to see the world promising the rowdy and precocious crew at the restaurant to send postcards from Texas and New York  and New Orleans, but he stalled in San Diego after a brutal week hitchhiking through northern, central and then the difficult Southern California stretch. Finding lodging was a snap and the small furnished apartment right downtown where you could pay by the week was not bad at all, old, creaky, threadbare but clean and not expensive. The landlords clerk was a maternal old bat who had a jar of cigarettes and you could have one when you came to her apartment office to pay your rent at the half door counter on the main landing in the lower hallway. She’d also give you light bulbs and let you use the plunger as part of the rent, and there wasn’t any burdensome first, last and deposit horse crap, only a 5 dollar key deposit that got some of the indigents indignant because a key only cost 75 cents back then at Woolworths. ...

Tomorrow I am going to San Diego to see my oldest son Justin. He is 22 years old and has decided to move to New York. He was raised to be a man who thinks for himself and takes care of himself. I consider him one of me and my wifes greatest achievements. On the way home, I will stop at a couple of joints from Diners,Drive ins and dives. My wife has previous plans. Anyone up to take a Road Trip with me? Good company and great food. Who is down to ride?

Brownouts, what is a fire department brownout? A brownout is when certain companies shut down to save money, extend resources and compensate for budget shortfalls. An entire firehouse does not close due to the brownout, only certain engines or ladder companies rotating them on a daily basis. So then the burning question, who’s affected? Anyone who is having, or is in an emergency can be impacted by a brownout. A crew from a different station will have to respond, which means longer response times. Taking the time to do research on how fire department brownouts affect cities, I came across one consistent conclusion, and that was that the citizens were affected because of greater response times. Brownouts in the cities of Cincinnati, San Diego, Memphis, New York, Philadelphia and San Francisco all had a negative impact on response times. Justin Jouvenal, a staff writer for The Examiner in San Francisco wrote “The temporary closure of fire stations as a cost-cutting measure has had a damaging effe ...

Answer to yesterdays question. History The American Football League started in 1960 as competition with the National Football League. Few thought the league would have a chance to succeed, but it was backed by the money and organization of Lamar Hunt. The Hunt family had made billions in oil and were able to provide support for the eight teams in the league, one of which Hunt owned. While the AFL was ridiculed by the more established league because it featured wide open offensive play and seemed to ignore defense, the fans in its cities took to the exciting brand of football. With franchises in Boston, New York, Denver, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, Oakland and Buffalo, the league soon took hold. The Dallas franchise moved to Kansas City and the Los Angeles team moved to San Diego and the league soon showed staying power. When the AFL signed and drafted college football superstar Joe Namath -- he was signed by the N.Y. Jets -- the NFL knew that its rival was most likely going to survive. Instead of trying ...
Articles for Pastors. 7 Reasons Adultery Is Just Plain Dumb It is worth reflecting on the careers of two prominent political leaders whose careers came to an abrupt conclusion last year. All because they couldn’t discipline their sexual desires. The mayor of San Diego lost his career, while a former congressman once considered the leading contender for the mayor’s seat in New York sank to the bottom of the polls after new allegations surfaced during the primary race. His political future appears to have little hope. It might be easy to pass these off as aberrations, had we not seen numerous business, church and other leaders go through similar “flameouts” the past three decades. Someone described idiocy as repeatedly doing the same thing but expecting different results. So all leaders who consider themselves immune to temptation should pay attention to what has happened to others—and Scripture. A word to the wise. A good portion of the first section of Proverbs counsels young men to avoid adulte ...

Once again, my fluffy puppets, I offer to those outside the tour area, signed firsts of my new book, The Serpent of Venice, to be released April 22nd. Mysterious Galaxy will ship to Canada and Europe as well, but I know, it's not going to be cheap. Sorry. Geography. I will get to Mysterious Galaxy on April 24th, I think, so the books should ship in the first week it's available. Books Inc will also have signed copies, but the link is still coming. Tour cities, as far as I know, are San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Tempe, Denver, Seattle, Portland, Chicago, New York, Boston, Washington D.C., Ann Arbor, Lansing, and Westchester, PA. More may be added, but not many. Perhaps Austin. No doubt a couple of Northern California gigs. If none of those are in driving distance for you, this would be the way to get a signed copy. If you're going to go this direction, order early, so they'll know how many books to have on hand when I get there. The Books Inc link will be up in a week or so.

The 88 released Over and Over by Jermy Leeuwis, Editor on January 12, 2006 | genre: rock With their second album, Over and Over, The 88 refute the myth that art and the three-and-a-half-minute pop song can’t get along. While the new record shares the same rollicking spirit as its predecessor, Kind of Light, it also marks a sonic leap forward for the Los Angeles-based quintet. The buoyant melodies and general jollity that characterized album one infuse all 12 tracks of their sophomore release, only this time with an expanded sound, a result, no doubt, of the group’s artistic growth – and lots and lots of practice. Since Light debuted in early 2003, lead singer/guitarist Keith Slettedahl, keyboardist Adam Merrin, guitarist Brandon Jay, bassist Carlos Torres and drummer Mark Vasapolli have played practically nonstop throughout their native L.A., with tour dates in New York, San Francisco, Austin, Las Vegas, San Diego, Tucson and Washington D.C. Once word of The 88’s irrepressible harmonies and hoppin ...

MOTORCYCLE THEFTS DECLINE SLIGHTLY Your motorcycle could be stolen in a New York minute, especially if you live in NYC which is the nation's capital of motorcycle thievery (903 thefts), followed by swingin' Las Vegas (757), the National Insurance Crime Bureau reports. Next comes San Diego (633), Indianapolis (584) and Miami (535). Overall, just like when it comes to car thefts, motorcycle thefts have been dropping. In 2012, the year in which the NICB bases its analysis, they amounted to 46,061 ripped-off bikes, down 1% from the year before. Based on National Crime Information Center (NCIC) motorcycle theft data for 2012, Honda was the motorcycle brand stolen most often, with 9,082 for the year (representing 20% of all motorcycles stolen). It was followed by Yamaha (7,517=16%), Suzuki (7,017=15%), Kawasaki (4,839=11%) and Harley-Davidson (3,755=8%), rounding out the top five makes. When it comes to states, thieves appear to prefer warm weather -- just like all motorcycle riders. California was first (6,082 ...
A terrific game for the Chargers last night.  They stayed on schedule on offense all night long, and there was nothing the Donkeys could do to interrupt.  The biggest factor, however, was how they stayed disciplined and maintained strong fundamentals on defense for a full 60 minutes.  The linebackers took disciplined drops and picked up the short crossers.  The safeties played their assignments and didn't let Peyton get the ball deep.  But of all the things the Bolts did last night, the most important was that they tackled well.  In picking up those crossers, the backers didn't let them get away.  They squared them up and took them down in most cases.  It was almost a perfect game plan executed by San Diego, and that's exactly what you have to do to beat Denver---Be perfect.     THE NBA  (1-1 ATS & SU last night and 12-18/16-13 so far for the week)   BUTTA  (no play last night and 2-3 so far for the week) 1.  CELTICS (-150) over Knicks - New York might be feeling good about themselves a ...

The San Diego Chargers pulled the plug on the New York Giants' already slim playoff hopes by scoring on seven of their 10 possession as part of the 37-14 rout that ended New York's already waning hopes. As has been the case for the Giants all season long, they were unable to get a complete game...
Rivers: Draft-day trade in rearview mirror By Eric D. Williams SAN DIEGO – It’s been nearly 10 years since Eli Manning spurned the San Diego Chargers, telling the organization not to draft him because he’d rather play elsewhere. That moment still resonates for many fans of this team. But for the guy Manning was traded for, San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers, it’s in the past. “It’s funny, the New York media just asked me how many times you have been asked about that whole thing,” Rivers told reporters here on Wednesday. “And I said, ‘Well, none.’ They kind of thought I was kidding. But it hasn’t been brought up as far as amongst the guys. It’s just so far removed.” The Chargers and the Giants meet for the third time since San Diego selected Manning as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2004 draft, then traded him to the Giants for Rivers, along with three more draft picks. The Chargers have won both meetings, including a Sept. 25, 2005 contest Drew Brees started (45-23 Chargers) in M ...

Funny how the Lefty Liberal media is not reporting on this new sport being done by young black youths called Polar Bear hunting. Groups of young black youths are going around most big city and knocking out by sucker punching them/ blind siding them from out of no were. There have been at least 5 deaths from this new game. Funny how the left liberal media jump all over Trayvon Martin but not a word about this. Nothing from Jessie Jackson nor anything from Sharpton. In New York City they are mostly going after Jews. Is this a hate crime? I say it is because the name the youths have given it Polar Bear hunting, they are white and all the videos show it as a black on white crime only. This has been going on in most big cities from New York to San Diego, Washington D.C., Philly and else were. How sad is this? Should white people start black bear hunting, probably not, it would only bring us down to there level. One man was 70 years of age, brave young men to go after a 70 year old man.

This comparison of Los Angeles and New York is lulz. From the comments section of Gothamist.com: "LA people get tired of being bashed, yes, this is true. We get tired of New Yorkers ripping it because it's all so transparent. You dont rip San Diego, because there is nothing in San Diego. LA has took over as the culture capital of the world a generation ago and New Yorkers just can't handle it. Doth protest too much Vinny? Aggressive New Yorkers? Seriously? Trust me go to a Dodger game with a Met hat on and you will see how "cool" and "relaxed" they are. New Yorkers are obsessed with slamming LA but you NEVER here people from LA slamming NY because no one cares about NY in LA, seriously. New York is yesterday's news. The trends, the movements, the political changes start in LA and move east...People in LA, other than me, don't move to NY. I'm just giving New Yorkers a taste of what it's like to grow up in LA and be forced to listen to East Coast transplants pining away for their freaking egg creams and th ...
Athiest Mega "Churches" taking hold in US... Los Angeles (AP) — It looked like a typical Sunday morning at any mega-church. Several hundred people, including families with small children, packed in for more than an hour of rousing music, an inspirational talk and some quiet reflection. The only thing missing was God. Nearly three dozen gatherings dubbed "atheist mega-churches" by supporters and detractors have sprung up around the U.S. and Australia — with more to come — after finding success in Great Britain earlier this year. The movement fueled by social media and spearheaded by two prominent British comedians is no joke. On Sunday, the inaugural Sunday Assembly in Los Angeles attracted several hundred people bound by their belief in non-belief. Similar gatherings in San Diego, Nashville, New York and other U.S. cities have drawn hundreds of atheists seeking the camaraderie of a congregation without religion or ritual. The founders, British duo Sanderson Jones and Pippa Evans, are ...

All in the family! "The La Jolla Symphony & Chorus is dedicating its 2013-14 “Life” season to choral director David Chase, who celebrates 40 years with the chorus. Chase won’t be conducting the Nov. 2-3 season opening concerts at UC San Diego (he will share the podium in the March 15-16, May 3-4 and June 7-8 concerts), but you can bet he’ll be bursting with pride. His daughter, flutist Claire Chase, who last year was awarded a MacArthur Foundation “genius” grant, will perform on the program with her New York-based ensemble, ICE (the International Contemporary Ensemble)."

So...Packers have a bye week. 49'ers already played. Gonna be a boring day, come kick-off time. I guess I'll try to call the games: Baltimore over Buffalo. Cincinnati over Cleveland. Detroit over Chicago. Seattle over Houston. Indianapolis over Jacksonville. Kansas City over New York. (I'd pick Jacksonville over NYG if it happened.) Minnesota over Pittsburgh. Arizona over Tampa Bay. Denver over Philadelphia. Oakland over Washington. Sorry, RG3 fans, but he still don't have the groove yet. Dallas over San Diego. New England over Atlanta. I'm not going to call the Miami/New Orleans game. Two very tough teams, two very tough offenses. Experience goes to NO, but momentum has Miami's back. The two are mutually exclusive. How would YOU call the games?
Everyone wants to bash on the Browns saying they are so bad. May I remind you we have the same record as Philadelphia, Green Bay, Atlanta, Carolina, St. Louis, San Francisco, Arizona, Buffalo, and San Diego. And we have a better record than Washington, New York Giants, Minnesota, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, and Jacksonville. I'm just sayin.
HIGH PARK BAND in Edmonton are getting much attention across the country and getting airplay on many live365 internet radio stations. Recently on Unheard Music in Long Island, New York and Always Hard-On Rock in San Diego, California www.Reverbnation.com/highpark
I don't have the Sirius feed on, I can just imagine Len and Mitch ranting we have won more games in the FIRST 3 games of this year than Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn could bring home ALL of last year! For the Chiefs to come back to Arrowhead at 3-0 to face the Giants is HUGE. I can see us possibly losing 4-5 games the rest of the year, and looking down the barrel of the Wildcard (if not the division. my preseason win/loss I I expected the Chiefs to lose to Dallas, Philly, New York, Denver twice, possibly San Diego once and Houston. Ron Burgandy, hold your beard and yell Hammer of Thor, the Chiefs look like they can take the bolts this year, Oakland twice and at least a split with Denver. This puts KC in the running for the division, at the very least the wildcard and with Andy and Alex, once we are in tournament mode, no telling what can happen. I would be lying if I didn't say I want a Super Bowl, honest that may be premature to hang my hat on. If our defense holds as tight as they h the rush a little b .. ...
All you Boston Red Sox fans...there is this "my teams all suck-Joey guy" here in San Diego by the name of Jeff Berger who continues (over 2 years now) to call Boston a lowly "suburb" of New York .he just insulted all of us Hub people again on our Fantasy Football website...thought you should know the crap I have to put up with...and we all know I am innocent and have never called him out for no reason..."Marlon McCree intercepts..the game is ovah...oh wait a second, Troy Brown strips the ball...Vinateri with the win..."...now get ready Hub-ites, for some old and worn out Buckner comment...
Sue and I were guests at Congregation Beth Ahabah in Richmond, VA for their Yom Kippur Eve Service. Rabbi Beifield's sermon was very thought provoking; so I copy his sermon below for your reflection. Yom Kippur Evening – 5774 / 2013 "Considering our Personal Ethics" What do all of the following people have in common: Anthony Weiner, Eliot Spitzer, Ed Filner, Bernie Madoff, Ivan Boesky, and Ryan Braun? Just in case we need more information to identify everybody: Anthony Weiner was a member of the United States House of Representatives and an unsuccessful candidate for mayor of New York; Eliot Spitzer was attorney general and governor of New York; Ed Filner was until just recently the mayor of San Diego; Bernie Madoff…is a man who needs no introduction; Ivan Boesky made a fortune on Wall Street in the 1980s; and Ryan Braun is an all-star major league baseball player for the Milwaukee Brewers. What they have in common is they are all Jews who committed serious, ethical misconduct and, as a result, ...

Jets D-line promising mix of talent, personalities FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -- Antonio Garay used to scoot around San Diego in a little, red Smart Car with huge Hello Kitty faces decorating each door. The funny photos of the former Charger and current New York Jets nose tackle squeezing his 6-foot-4, 320-pound frame into the attention-grabbing but environmentally friendly vehicle were all over the Internet a year ago. But, new Jets teammate Quinton Coples had no idea - until he was shown the proof. ''Wow,'' a laughing Coples said, shaking his head in disbelief. ''That says a lot right there. I need to speak to that guy about this, like ASAP!'' The 33-year-old Garay is one of the newest, most-experienced - and, perhaps, most fun-loving - members of the Jets' revamped and close-knit defensive line that is considered perhaps New York's biggest strength heading into training camp in a few weeks. ''I've been trying to keep a lot of that on the down-low,'' said a smiling Garay, in his second stint with the Jets ...

Record: 5-7-2, third, AFL West Points scored/allowed: 303/350 Coach: Al Davis Summary: Getting back to our theme of fair-to-middling teams, we travel a year backward from yesterday’s report on the ’65 Raiders to APBA’s first AFL season. With three fewer wins, Oakland earned two more offensive points (and one or two fewer on defense, depending in your choice of LBs). For this report, I’ve got a reproduction 1964 Raiders media guide and a secondary website to finalize the lineup in lieu of APBA’s original roster and PFR. The blog The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit also offers a nice pictorial retrospective on the AFL of a different nature than does Tales from the American Football League. Oakland rallied from an 0-5-1 start to post W’s against Denver, Houston, New York, Buffalo and San Diego; they tied with New England (43-43) and Denver (20-20). Offense: 30 Offensive line: 14. Old reliable Jim Otto earns his first APBA 4 in a Pro Bowl season. Guard Wayne Hawkins and tackle Frank Youso are 3 ...

Italian thoughts about HERITAGE: MASSIMO CONSORTIs BLOG (translated with google): "... To return to our heritage that belongs to humanity as it is our just because it is located on the territory of the most indifferent, apathetic and uncaring nation that exists in the world. My god, let's sell it! Let's start immediately. So, Pompeii dismantle and remount in Bavaria. Etna is easily transportable in Scotland, at least Lochness Lake will have scenery more appealing. The Medici villas we give an each to Denver, Baltimore, Oklahoma City, Reno, Las Vegas, Philadelphia (but only because it reminds us of the cheese), Chicago, Boston, New York, Honolulu, Los Angeles and San Diego. The Boboli Gardens plant them in Shanghai and the Tower of Pisa in Mumbai (makes pendant with the Taj Mahal). The Colosseum we could surrender to Berlin, while the Trevi Fountain could make his terrible figure in Innsbruck Center. I bet that the reputation in these countries and in these cities, with our monuments would raise the GDP of ...

Cerullo, whose evangelistic ministry is based in San Diego, California, was born in Passaic, New Jersey to a Russo-Jewish/Italian family, and still describes himself as "a little Jew preacher." His parents died in an automobile accident when he was only two years old. By virtue of being of half Jewish parentage, he was then raised in an Orthodox Jewish orphanage in nearby Clifton, in which he recalls being led out of by heavenly messengers. This experience then led him to a receiving Jesus Christ as his Savior at age fourteen. From this experience he then begin preaching the gospel at the age of sixteen after claiming to have seen a vision from God, in which he witnessed people suffering torments in *** He then later attended and graduated from divinity school in New York state in 1953, and began ministering with the help of his then soon-to-be bride Theresa. In the early 1950s, he was ordained in the Assemblies of God.[1]

Thanks to the brilliant master scheduling planning by MLB, the Dodgers are now set for a day/night doubleheader tomorrow night in New York. Then they'll fly back to San Diego to begin a 4-game series Thursday night. They had a day off *yesterday*, though, while already on the East Coast. And they've already played the Mets at Citi Field this year, so they aren't due back in NYC this year. Great work by MLB on what should have been the top Regular Season series of the year.

The Dodgers and Pirates wrap up their three-game series as Los Angeles plays the third contest of a nine-game Road Trip (1-1). Following the game today, the squad will head to New York for an off day Monday and then their first-ever Regular Season series at Yankee Stadium (two games). The club will finish the Road Trip with four games at Petco Park in San Diego. In addition to airing on PRIME TICKET, today’s game will be broadcast nationally on TBS and called by Matt Devlin, Cal Ripken Jr. and John Smoltz. The Dodgers have won six straight series over the Pirates, including a three-game sweep at Dodger Stadium this season from April 5-7. The last series lost to the Bucs came when the club dropped two of three in its season-opening series in 2010.
New York is stunning. We are both sunburnt despite sunscreen. We've been to all the 'to do' places and fly out tonight for Los Angeles. Very touched by the 9/11 memorial. I've been struggling with making a decision (not to be immediately acted upon) whether or not to stay here in Cedar Rapids, treading water indefinitely, or choose a location to move to that's far closer to matching me up with my makeup and goals. I note (based on information provided by this public page) that my writing efforts have top readership locations in: Los Angeles, London, New York, Toronto, San Diego, Atlanta, and Sydney, Australia. Missing, of note, are EVERY SINGLE large city in the American Midwest (!), and all western states east of the southern Pacific states; and, the Pacific Northwest. (The only southern city, above, is Atlanta -- but that's an isolated locale. My hometown, Fort Lauderdale (and all of Florida in general), does not exhibit support -- so my NOT moving back "home" (and, in turn, dodging pythons and such in the region's housing areas) leads me away from returning to the area of my childhood -- which has changed for the worse several times over since I last lived there in 1995 ...
A Brief History of the Black Panther Party and Its Place In the Black Liberation Movement By Sundiata Acoli Sundiata Acoli "The Black Panther Party for Self-Defense was founded in October, 1966, in Oakland, California by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale. The name was shortened to the Black Panther Party (BPP) and it began spreading eastward through the Black urban ghetto colonies across country. In the summer of '68, David Brothers established a BPP branch in Brooklyn, New York, and a few months later Lumumba Shakur set up a branch in Harlem, New York. i joined the Harlem BPP in the fall of '68 and served as its Finance Officer until arrested on April 2, 1969 in the Panther 21 Conspiracy case which was the opening shot in the government's nationwide attack on the BPP. Moving westward, Police Departments in each city made military raids on BPP offices or homes in Philadelphia, Chicago, Newark, Omaha, Denver, New Haven, San Diego, Los Angeles, and other cities, murdering some Panthers and arresting others. I’m in San Diego attending a medical conference on anti-aging. I’ve always been against aging, especially when it relates to representatives and senators who’ve been in Washington way too long. I took my board certification in regenerative, integrated, metabolic medicine after a 2 ½ drive from Rancho Mirage. The following morning the lectures began at 7:30 AM and were scheduled to finish at 6 PM. I left early because my upper back felt like I was giving birth to twins through my trapezius. So I decided to explore San Diego. The yacht, Lady Christine, was in the harbor, complete with its helicopter and numerous twenty-something girls practicing fire drills. The streets of San Diego are clean, but there are no people. Having grown up in New York, I have certain standards for what qualifies as a city. You need to have at least four lanes of pedestrian traffic, horns blaring, and people talking to themselves. In San Diego today I never heard a single car horn. I was disappointed. I don’t think you ca ...

Did you know that radiation levels in Los Angeles are 3.3x higher than they are in Tokyo right now? Doing research on radiation in Japan and found that a majority of Japan has lower levels of background radiation than New York, Paris, London, Berlin, Seoul, Singapore, Hong Kong, and many other major cities in the world. The only area that is currently unsafe to travel is within 50km of the Fukushima nuclear plant. I find the statistics both shocking and relieving at the same time. Regardless, we will still take radiation blocking pills when we spend time there this fall. Fun fact for my Southern Californians: there is a nuclear reactor in San Onofre (halfway between LA and San Diego) that has been leaking nuclear radiation, causing our air and rain to be 668% higher than the recommended "safe" levels. Enjoy!

This Will Give You Cold Chills IS THIS THE AMERICA YOU WANT. Geert Wilders is a Dutch Member of ParliamentI In a generation or two, the US will ask itself: Who lost Europe ?' Sometimes I revise history to my unique point of view. Generally, no one agrees with my conclusions. What do you think about my top three changes to U.S. history? 1. The San Diego Padres are Palm Spring's true home baseball team, not the Los Angeles Dodgers. Unlike the Dodgers, the Padres are from California. They're named after the Catholic priests who served in the local mission, and as we all know, the San Diego mission was California's first. It's a great name. Palm Springs, and indeed the entire Coachella Valley, was located in North County until 1893, which is when Riverside County was formed. The two counties share a common history, helping to make the San Diego Padres the true home team. 2. The Erie canal destroyed Philadelphia and therefore was a very bad public works project. In 1825, the canal opened and drastically cut transportation costs from the western interior to the East Coast. It, combined with a natural harbor, helped make New York the chief U.S. port. As a result, Philadelphia couldn' ...

Georgia Carr was a singer, actress and eventual entrepreneur. Born Mary Louise Thomas in Los Angeles on June 20, 1925, she held multiple jobs (most famously as a secretary) and attended the University of California in Los Angeles as she tried to build her singing career. She was singing at the Club Royale in San Diego when Stan Kenton saw her and, according to the August 20, 1953 cover story on her in JET, “started her on a career that was destined to hit the big time.” According to JET, it was Mr. Kenton who suggested that she change her name to Georgia Carr. In short order, she was booked in popular clubs like Birdland and La Vie En Rose in New York and recorded a few modest hits, including “Softly” and I’m Not Gonna Let You In.” She also had a radio show at one time on New Yorks WOV called “Carr-fare.” The most interesting piece of information I came across regarding Ms. Carr was from a Chicago Defender newspaper article from January 29, 1963. The article said Ms. Carr “possess beauty ...
Another excerpt from the book in progress, from the chapter titled "Old Year's Night." There is a theme of Escape that permeates this story, and for those of us living on St. John, Jost Van *** was the Escape within the Escape. Tell me peeps -- can you relate at all to this? "St. John is tiny. And though the island is a perfect Escape from the ills of stateside, it’s still pretty easy to feel trapped after awhile. You stay anywhere long enough and you draw yourself to scale. Your once wondrously huge new surroundings become smaller the more familiar with them you become. At some point, once you’ve figured out the landscape, you carve your own little comfort pocket and the radius of your daily routine shrinks accordingly. In this way, living on an island was no different than living in San Diego or New York – at our core we are all tribal in nature. But sooner or later, the coziness of your isolated retreat begins to suffocate the shine of your inner Paradise – and Escape is the only way to ...
Turiya began studying Jazz at 15 years of age. She was Originally mentored by San Diego Jazz legend Daniel Jackson, Mareya followed his example by becoming proficient on both piano and reeds and focusing on playing her original compositions. She continued her work in New York, studying at the Creative School of Music. Later she toured Mexico with the Taumbu International Ensemble. All of those experiences help mold her unique approach based on World Music influences and drawing on the trance inducing and spirit calling focus of African and Indigenous approaches to music. She honed her abilities in Latin Jazz heading the Kokopelli Latin Jazz Ensemble where she had the privilege to work with drummer Skip Howlet known for his work with Mongo Santamaria and Tito Puente, as well as Cuban Bassist Ignacio Arango. February 28, 1849. On this date steamboat service, under a government mail contract to provide mail, passenger, and freight service between Panama and San Francisco was established when the SS California docked in San Francisco, California having left New York almost five months earlier. She had moved down the Atlantic coast of the U.S., made her way down the eastern coast of South America stopping in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for repairs, coal, wood, water and fresh food. She then moved through the Straights of Magellan (between the southern tip of South America and Tierra del Fuego) up the West Coast, stopping in Chile and Peru. Her next stop was in Panama City where due to the spread of news about the California Gold Rush a huge crowd awaited the ship with hopes of catching a ride to San Francisco. She left Panama City with double the passengers load (about 400) and because of that many passengers two additional stops in San Diego and Monterey were required to make it to the destination of San Franci ...
More History; The Creole Palace (San Diego) The hallmarks of the “Roaring ‘20s” are legendary in American history: dashing and daring men and women, illegal alcohol, flamboyant entertainers, and the music inspired by the post-war, prohibition era frenzy–jazz. While the hot spots in New York and Los Angeles generally garner the most attention, in 1924, San Diego’s Hotel Douglas opened its doors along with its own nightclub the Creole Palace, which became a venue that was destined to leave an indelible mark on the history of jazz and the local African American community. For over 30 years, the Creole Palace was a popular, high energy cabaret that catered primarily to the African American population of San Diego. The club, also known as the “Cotton Club of the West,” attracted prominent entertainers of the day such as Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, and Count Basie. Join UDM and LTU for a joint lecture with Teddy Cruz Thursday, Feb 21 at 6:00pm in Lawrence Tech's Room 200A. (Pizza Reception at 5:30pm). The work of estudio teddy cruz builds out of trans-border urban dynamics (US and Mexico), using this territory of conflict as a backdrop to critically observe the clash between current top-down discriminating forms of urban economic re-development and planning legislature, with projects from San Diego to the Hudson River Valley of New York.

We had a Navy! For my Friends in Lassen/Susanville, following is a proud moment for us in WWII. USS Susanville (PC-1149) was a US Navy anti-submarine patrol boat during WWII. Her keel was laid as PC-1149 on 6 November 1943 in Bay City, Michigan; launched on 11 January 1944; and commissioned on 22 June 1944. She sailed, via the Mississippi River and New Orleans into the Gulf of Mexico, conducting shakedown cruises from Miami. During her first year of service PC-1149 cruised the waters along the U.S. East Coast and in the Caribbean. She patrolled for German U-Boats and escorted coastal and Caribbean convoys from port to port. The submarine chaser ranged as far north as New York and as far south as Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. On 13 June 1945, about a week before the first anniversary of her active service, she transited the Panama Canal and joined the Pacific Fleet. After calling at San Diego and Pearl Harbor, she arrived at Eniwetok Atoll in the Central Pacific on 28 July; then sailed the following day for the Ma ...

Despite eye-witness reports that former Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers head football coach (and current ESPN NFL analyst), Jon Gruden was in Vatican City earlier today, he has denied any interest in the vacant position of Head Coach/Pope/Pontiff of the Catholic Church. "Ridonkulous" says Gruden. "I was there vacationing with my family. My son and I took the Pope-mobile for a spin. It was a blast!" Over the past five years, Gruden (or "Chuckie," as he is affectionately referred to by others within his profession) has reportedly been linked to NFL head coaching vacancies in Oakland, Washington D.C., Chicago, Seattle, Kansas City, Buffalo, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, San Diego, New York, Houston, Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa Bay, Minnesota and Arizona. He has also been linked to head coaching vacancies at several NCAA football programs, including Notre Dame, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Stanford, Arkansas, Auburn, Nebraska, Rutgers, Michigan, Ohio State, W ...
Wow! What a full and fun evening Monday night at Trivia at Ace Hotel in the Amigo Room. Guests were from San Francisco, including Monica Versace; lots of Minnesota, San Diego, lots of Canada, Palm Springs, Michigan, Germany, Los Angeles, New York, Cathedral City, Arizona, Seattle, Tennessee, and many other exotic places. The Karate Kuties from Palm Springs took top honors and won first place. A tie for second between Rob and Mitch, and the “Disfunctional Family of Five from Kanada” proved Rob and Mitch knew their celebrities and nicknames. Canadian and Minnesota accents filled the room. Fleet Easton led the group in singing happy birthday to Nancy. It looked like Cyndi Lauper was in the room with us all night. Could it be? She is coming May 11 for Evening Under the Stars AAP benefit at the O ...
Vol.2, No. 39 The Rooney Report “All the News That Fits on One Page” Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 Deep Trouble: Much of Eastern Pennsylvania, New York and New England are under blizzard watch today as two major storms collide in the Northeast. As many as 3,000 flights have been cancelled. Some news outlets are hyping a storm of “historic” proportions, but don’t judge until you can put a yardstick in it. Two feet of snow are expected. National: SWAT teams in Southern California are still searching for a former Los Angeles cop wanted in three killings. In the early hours of Thursday a Riverside officer died in a shootout and his partner was wounded. Another police officer was wounded in a separate shooting. Police also mistakenly shot at two pickup trucks, in one case wounding two women delivering newspapers. At mid- day officers surrounded a motel in San Diego thinking 33-year-old Christopher Dorner was there, but later found his burned out pickup truck in the mountains near Big Bear Lake. Dorner was or ...

55 Million Lives Lost in 40 Years Following the 40th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision on January 22, 1973, which legalized abortion nationwide, today more than 250,000 people will gather in Washington D.C. for the annual March for Life. Since the decision was handed down, an estimated 55 million abortions have been performed in the United States -- roughly the combined populations of New York and California. Tomorrow, on January 26th, Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, will be joining thousands in San Francisco for the Walk for Life West Coast and he will be reading a special message from Pope Benedict XVI. With the legislature now in session, the California Catholic Conference continues to follow all bills that are introduced that present a threat to the life and dignity of its citizens, born and unborn. This week AB 154, Healing arts: reproductive health care (Atkins, D-San Diego) was introduced -- and if passed, would revive last year's push ...
England's difficulty is Ireland's opportunity. How during World War One Irish Republicans in America tried to help the cause of Indian freedom from British colonialism. resulting on one of America's longest and most expensive criminal trials. The Odd at Odds: British Spies and US Attorneys versus a Conspiracy of German Junkers, Indian Revolutionaries, and Irish Republicans during WWI by Matthew E. Plowman, Ph.D. (Grand View University) Just months into World War I, an Indo-Irish-German plot was established to ship American guns to India for a revolt against the Raj with the intention of reducing Britain’s ability to wage war on Germany and to hasten Indian and Irish independence. The gun shipment was organised in New York and sent to a ship in San Diego. This ship, the Annie Larsen, was supposed to rendezvous with a larger steamship, the Maverick, off the Pacific Coast of Mexico at Socorro Island. The Maverick was then to take the arms first to the neutral Dutch East Indies and then to India. If tha ...

Linda Gerard, Joe Enos and Michael Benthall popped in after Linda's Sissy Bingo. We celebrated Martin Luther King Day, the Inauguration, winter and great temps, the wrap of the film festival and more. Questions didn't center on the present inauguration, but some interesting twists such as "five of the first twenty 20 presidents had the same first name", what is Marine One, who was the first president to throw out a ball in the World Series (and they even had four to select from), who was John Kerry's running mate in 2004, and fun facts about Venice Beach, Wizard of Oz, grasshoppers, ducks, and more.

Little Christmas is here, the decorations have been taken down and packed away for another year. Wishing all of you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. We had a lovely Christmastime. Mike was here from Davis and his girlfriend Laura joined us on Dec 26th. She is a joy and we always look forward to her visits. Katherine's boyfirend, Kenan, joined us for Christmas dinner - a most welcome addition. Nancy was scheduled to join us for Christmas but had to cancel due to an untimely slip and fall. Thankfully no serious injury, but a trip to San Diego was not prudent. We celebrated the New Year with our friends from the yacht club Ken Wild and Danah Woodruff who have the great good sense to observe the year end on New York time allowing all of us to return home at a decent hour. Laura introduced us to the Finnish custom of melting horseshoes pouring the molten metal into a bucket of water, the shapes tell our fortune in the New Year. Thinking ahead to 2014 and looking back on 2013 I've so much to be thankful for: Wonderful adventures (Puebla & Oaxaca, Asia with Alan Mah, Kansas City, Istanbul, New York, San Diego to name a view) ... a stupendous sales year, learning how to use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 before they come out with Version 6, an amazingly great group of clients, friends made, weight lost and not refound, my web site updated, database project done, presentations powerful, house decluttered, photos taken and processed. ... and the thrill of know that Anderson Cooper finally got rid of that talking head which has been blathering incessantly to the left of him on CNN's New Year's Celebration. How was your 2013? Ira Serkes

I thought the Concorde was grounded indefinitely??? How else can you explain Phillip Rivers blowing it for San Diego and then flying all the way to New York to play for Green Bay, huh?
Rest of Week 12 NFL Predictions. Falcons 31 at Buccaneers 35 (Tampa Bay is playing some excellent football. Atlanta has been cutting it close a lot, it catches up to them in front of that awesome pirate ship in Tampa) Ravens 23 at Chargers 20 (I wouldn't be stunned if the Ravens had a letdown after the big win in Pittsburgh and lost, especially when they play Pittsburgh again next week, but San Diego is a very poorly coached team that I don't trust) 49ers 24 at Saints 27 (New Orleans badly needs this game. Only real reason why I'm picking them to win) Rams 16 at Cardinals 14 (Both of these teams really suck, I have no idea what will happen. I'll go with Sam Bradford over Ryan Lindley) Packers 30 at Giants 27 (This should be a fantastic game. New York will want to make amends for a couple awful games, but the Pack seems to have hit their stride and will be out for a little payback after the G-Men embarrassed them at Lambeau last season in the playoffs. America would be on the attackers after the first two rockets like white on rice! We'd hit them so hard their entire families would fall down! Israel has exercised great restraint!

every time I look at what's in the news, it just reminds me how ridiculous and stupid things are getting. The latest batch of crap I read today is a Latino advocacy group putting Disney under fire for not making their new princess ethnic enough and a controversial ad campaign from Barney's of New York showing Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck as ultra thin runway models, not mention a school near San Diego that is threatening to be sued by parents for introducing a yoga class which they feel promotes a religious bias towards Hinduism. I have one thing to say to all the whiners of the world who come up with this crap. GET A LIFE!!!
Roger Goodell said "I wouldn't at all be surprised some day to see us (the NFL) in London." While I get what he's trying to do, it won't work. Here's why a team in London would be a terrible idea: 1) Hello! It's London. If you set up a team across the Atlantic Ocean you're asking that team to fly back to America eight times during a season *** by then it could be nine because they really want 18 Regular Season games). You're really going to ask a team to fly 3,000 miles (3,000 is just to New York, that's not including cities like Seattle and San Diego) a year? That's over 48,000 miles a year. That's not fair to that team. 2) There are 32 teams in the league with eight four-team divisions, you'd have to add a team in London AND somewhere else (I'd bet on Los Angeles, more on that later) to make all the divisions equal. If you have 33 teams you're doing that weird thing in baseball with 16 National League teams and 14 American League teams. 3) I know Goodell wants to "globalize" the game, but the thing i ...

So after checking tracking, I have two packages arriving today (fingers crossed). To get to Lancaster, one went from Del Mar to San Diego to Santa Clarita and the other went from New York to Bakersfield to Pomona to here. I'd love to see how the USPS figures out efficiency because last I checked the shortest distance between two points was not a triangle.
A recent New York Post "Weird but True" story was about this father and son who had these bows and arrows. They were on their way to New York ComicCon at the Javits Center, and they had to take the Long Island Railroad to make it there. But some clueless guy apparently freaked out about it, and called the cops. When the dad explained about NY ComicCon, the cops figured it out almost immediaetely, and let 'em go. People, it's time to educate America's law enforcers concerning cosplay, or costumed playacting. Don't get me wrong, cosplayers, too, are into this safety/security thing; like our colleagues in the Renaissance Faire Community, cosplayers abide by certain major rules, the most important of which is that all weapons must be sheathed and peace-tied. If we apply that same principle at sci-fi/fantasy conventions, too --- particularly, not just ComicCon here in New York, but also Dragon*Con in Atlanta, and of course the big ComicCon in San Diego, we'll all be able to get along, we'll all have a good tim ...

Before Cowboys Stadium opened in 2009, owner and General Manager Jerry Jones said he expected the team to play up to the level of the $1.2 billion structure. After three seasons, the Cowboys have a 13-11 regular-season record in Arlington as they enter Sunday’s home opener against Tampa Bay. Jones is still waiting. The Cowboys have beaten one eventual playoff team at home in the first three seasons (Philadelphia, 2009) and seven of their 11 losses have come against postseason teams (San Diego, 2009; Chicago, 2010; New Orleans, 2010; Philadelphia, 2010; Detroit, 2011; New York Giants 2011). “We think it’s real important to win your home games,” said coach Jason Garrett, who has a 7-5 mark as the team’s head coach at home. “It should be a friendly environment to you, and we talk a lot about the hostile environments we had to face the first couple of weeks up in New York and going to Seattle. There should be a flip side to that where you feel better about yourself playing at home. "At the end of ...

I thought this was soo worth sharing today! On Top Of The World By Bob Babbit The marathon is all about honoring your commitments. About four and a half hours into the January 2002 edition of the San Diego Marathon, race director Lynn Flanagan received a call on her headset. It was Donna at the volunteer check-in area. “Lynn, can you come over here?” Donna asked. “I can’t really tell you why right now.” When Flanagan arrived, Donna explained that a young woman from New York had flown in to pick up her brother’s t-shirt and medal. Her brother was Joshua David Birnbaum, a 24-year-old assistant bond trader at Cantor Fitzgerald. Joshua had lost his life in the World Trade Center just a few months earlier on September 11, 2001. “Joshua was my older brother, but he was more than that,” says 19-year-old Jill Birnbaum. “He was my best friend in the world. When he signed up to do his first marathon, he asked me to come to San Diego to support him and to meet him at the finish line.” When Jill f ...

This evening Aaron hit his first HR and drew 2 Walks in 3 AB, scoring 3 Runs. Oddly, it was one of the Walks that fed BM's 7-Run 1st Inning Rally. Livan Hernandez never made it out of that Inning. BM brought 12 Batters to the Plate. So, Aaron scored the 2nd Run after his Walk, then flied out to cf with runners at Second & Third, ending the Inning. Standings - BM (2-1) recover from their Opening Day loss to win the Series. They are tied with New York for 2nd in NL Central, 1 GB undefeated Montreal (3-0). San Diego (1-2) rounds out the Division. outlook - BM's first Road Trip will take them to Petco Park for 3 games at the San Diego (0-3) team in NL West. I was greeted by a big handsome big mustache seargent who asked me where i was from. Being the arrogant pri..person that i was i answer him by saying "The World, Man." He said you are either from New York or California and I said Cal. He was from San Diego. It turns out he was stationed in my barracks. A friendship started. He drove a 1969 Chevy hotrod and made my life there in Fort Knox a lot of fun. I remember watering skeeing in the Ohio River at 3 am in the morning after some . . He asked me to drive home with him but i was broke. He was on his way to Vietnam for i think his 3rd tour of duty. I had gone home for Christmas so I had no money. $93 a month, pfc money. Since sales began in December 2010, a total of 18,663 Volts have been sold in the U.S. through July 2012.[155][156][157] The top 10 selling states during the first quarter of 2012 were California, Michigan, Florida, Illinois, Texas, New York, Minnesota, Ohio, North Carolina and Maryland. California is the leading market and accounted for almost 23% of Volt sales during this quarter, followed by Michigan with 6.3% of national sales. In California the leading regional markets are San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego, all metropolitan areas notorious for their high congestion levels and where free access to high-occupancy lanes for solo drivers has been a strong incentive to boost Volt sales in the state.[158] In 2009, the Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry said that "GM is at least one generation behind Toyota on advanced, “green” powertrain development. In an attempt to leapfrog Toyota, GM has devoted significant resources to the Chevy Volt." and that "while the Chevy Volt holds promise, ...
Braves can’t sit Medlen, need to go with six-man rotation 10:07 am August 13, 2012, by Jeff Schultz Kris Medlen gave up one run on five hits in 6 1/3 innings at New York on Saturday. (AP photo) Tommy Hanson wasn’t happy when the Braves told him the other day to go to Gwinnett for a rehab start, and it’s easy to understand why. As much as the Braves may have legitimate concerns about his back and general health and want to be cautious before activating him off the disabled list, there are two underlying issues here: – Kris Medlen has just been too good since being elevated to a starter to send him back to the bullpen (2-0 with a 1.62 ERA in three starts). – Manager Fredi Gonzalez and pitching coach Roger McDowell logically want to stall a little before making a decision on whether to go with a six-man rotation, at least during this stretch of 19 straight games without an off day (Monday night’s game against San Diego will be Game 4 in the stretch).

Born in San Diego, CA, Rebecca grew up designing and sewing clothing. Her passion for fashion and design prompted her to move New York after high school graduation and pursue a career as a designer. Rebecca launched a five-piece apparel line in 2001. Her first taste at success came when an “I love New York” tee Rebecca designed made it onto Jay Leno and into US Weekly. Requests for the patriotic T flooded in. Rebecca spent the next few years sewing I Love New York shirts on the floor of her New York apartment. In 2005, Rebecca took a stab at handbags, and the Morning After Bag was born. The now iconic, classic Rebecca Minkoff bag was an instant success. Rebecca quickly shifted her focus. Interesting things in the news that you guys probably would never know about because our generation doesn't seem to watch anything besides Jersey Shore: Flooding in North Korea (400+ people missing) and Tennessee, China holds the most medals with 61 and USA is second with 60, 22yr old woman & 31yr boyfriend survive a crash into a reservoir that killed both of their 5 yr old daughters... possibly alcohol-related (dumb *** I hope they feel guilty), homicide investigation in San Diego of a teenage victim who people "can't believe someone would want to harm" and "was going to do great things" (but really, isn't that what they all say until they find out about all the illegal things he did? ignorance must really be bliss for some parents), first rover landed on Mars at 10:14pm pacific time last night, hate crime results in 6 people killed in Wisconsin shooting by a dishonorably discharged soldier at the Sikh Temple... leads to Chicago and New York increasing security. No one noticed the hair? It is not red, it is the Joker. One look at this young man says "help me" I have worked with gangsters and criminals for decades. There is no excuse that we pay millions of dollars for mental health, and yet we just allow someone to disintegrate and this time harm others horribly. His Mother said "you have the right person", did she ask for help? AND he is not a native Californinian, the Native Americans get blamed for enough. He may have been born in California, or lived in San Diego, but he is NOT a Native Californian. My Grandmother went to both law school and Medical School and was the Dean of a College for Women, she was a kind, amazing woman, her brother was the Medical Director of Queen of Angels Hospital after his wife died and he moved here from New York, we put to much pressure on our students, for what? This is a sad and horrible tragedy, but blaming a young man who is obviously really needing help instead of looking to see how we can identify and avoid any more of thes ...

Maury and I braved the crowds to experience Whole Foods in West Des Moines last night. We are WF fans from Seattle to San Diego to New York and all in between. Lots of good locally produced stuff but if you are watching your pennies like me, shop there for special occasions or every now and then. What a treat to have them here.
*** parade: U.S. military allows *** personnels to march in uniform New York -The Department of Defence, in a first-of-its-kind move, will allow active duty members of all branches of the U.S. military to don their service uniforms while marching in an upcoming San Diego *** pride parade, event organisers said. The move, confirmed in an internal defence memo, marks the first time the military has granted such blanket permission since the September repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’’ policy, under which *** individuals were allowed to serve in the military only if they did not divulge their sexual orientation. “It is our understanding that event organizers plan to have a portion of the parade dedicated to military members,’’ Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Community and Public Outreach Rene Bardorf wrote in an internal memo. “We further understand organizers are encouraging service members to seek their commander’s approval to march in uniform and to display their pride,’ ...

We LOVED the Marriott Marquis in New York. It's right smack dab in the heart of Times Square. The Wyndham in San Diego is nice.
My dad passed on almost 15 1/2 years ago. In his memory on this fathers day, I am posting my eulogy at his funeral: Reuven Eulogy When I got the call last Thursday in California that Dad had died Friday in New York, I started thinking about what I was going to say. Three incidents came to mind that show the person Dad was: The first happened when I was in my early twenties. Dad and I were working at Harry Goodkin and Company and we took the train together to New Rochelle. We were walking through Grand Central and some guy who was in a rush bumped into Dad and almost knocked him down. My reaction was “I’m going to kill the son of a gun.” Dad just looked at me and said “let’s go.” His compassion for and kindness to others always shone through. The second thing happened when Mom and Dad come to San Diego a few years ago. We had gone to George’s on the Cove for dinner, a five-star restaurant overlooking the La Jolla Cove. Dad needed to go to the bathroom and I went to help him. At the t ...

'U.N. Me,' a movie about widespread corruption within the United Nations, opens in theatres in 11 major markets and on major cable outlets on June 1, 2012. The major markets are: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Washington, DC, Houston, Phoenix, Denver, San Diego, West Palm (Florida), and Colorado Springs. This movie exposes deep-seated problems within the UN through major segments within the film about a peacekeeping force stationed in Cote d'Ivoire that fired into a crowd of unarmed protesters, about the Oil for Food Program scam, about how the UN still can't agree on a definition of "terrorism," about how the U.N.'s Human Rights Council prolonged the genocide in Darfur by attempting to discredit the urgent recommendations of its own investigative team, and much more. We at the JBS believe that this movie is beneficial for viewing by large numbers of people because it is so ...
Padres/Mets UNDER 8 Thursday - Because two little-known starting pitchers are going at it tonight in New York, I believe oddsmakers have set the bar too high tonight. Both Eric Stults and Jeremy Hefner are better than they are getting credit for. Plus, they'll be up against two of the worst line-ups in baseball. Jeremy Hefner has posted a 2.25 ERA in limited action this season for the Mets, and he compiled a 2.72 ERA over seven starts at Triple-A Buffalo before being recalled last week. Eric Stults sports a 2.70 ERA this season for the Padres, and he's 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA in three career starts against New York. San Diego is batting a major league-worst .191 with men on second or third. The Mets are hitting just .240 and scoring 3.2 runs/game at home this year.
My honey is lunch today with Ladainian Tomlinson, L.T.
