Lilly and I did something today that we haven't done in a long time. We took a walk on the Mission Beach boardwalk in San Diego. The last time we did that was in '83. Lilly joked that she could see the spirits of our much younger selves walking alongside us, and it definitely brought us back to another era and place in time. Our drive to San Diego was a good one, no problems. Lilly and I were up with the sun, and are enjoying ourselves tremendously at the Catamaran. Although I do have to say that anytime I'm with my lady, I'm happy. We're planning on going to Mission Bay tomorrow, and driving out to Torrey Pines later this afternoon. San Diego is a beautiful city, with so much to see. Lilly and I were pleasantly surprised when we checked into our suite last night to discover that Tony and Geraldine Flemming-Mueller had sent ahead one of Lilly's and my favorite libations, Glenfiddich single malt scotch whiskey. We opened the bottle right away and toasted our mini-vacation. Life just gets better all the tim ...

I just spent an absolutely delightful late afternoon and evening with my brother, Jayar! He flew in from Houston, I picked him up at the airport, gave him a long 'cooks tour' - of San Diego - Downtown, all the places I go to court, the jail, my old building from the 80's then to the NEW library, Petco Park, the Harbor, Balboa Park, Mission Bay - up the coast to 101 for dinner in Encinitas - then dropped him at La Costa! WHAT a day - and wonderful review of this lovely city he's never seen most of it, and this was a 'fond farewell' for me - - I leave in 6 weeks. A beautiful day!

IRONMAN The idea for the original Ironman Triathlon arose during the awards ceremony for the 1977 Oahu Perimeter Relay (a running race for 5-person teams). Among the participants were numerous representatives of both the Mid-Pacific Road Runners and the Waikiki Swim Club, whose members had long been debating which athletes were more fit, runners or swimmers. On this occasion, U.S. Navy Commander John Collins pointed out that a recent article in Sports Illustrated magazine had declared that Eddy Merckx, the great Belgian cyclist, had the highest recorded "oxygen uptake" of any athlete ever measured, so perhaps cyclists were more fit than anyone. CDR Collins and his wife Judy Collins had taken part in the triathlons staged in 1974 and 1975 by the San Diego Track Club in and around Mission Bay, California, as well as the 1975 Optimist Sports Fiesta Triathlon in Coronado, California. A number of the other military athletes in attendance were also familiar with the San Diego races, so they understood the conce ...

By NBC News staff Zombies may have a tougher time taking over the world after a counterterrorism training program scheduled next month in San Diego. Follow on Sunday reported that California-based security firm HALO Corp. will incorporate training to fight the undead during its Oct. 29 to Nov. 2 Counter-Terrorism Summit expected to draw 1,000 military personnel, law enforcement officials, medical experts and government workers to the 44-acre Paradise Point Resort island in San Diego’s Mission Bay. The company, founded by former special operations, national security and intelligence personnel, says its annual summit this year will include a realistic tactical training environment using “Hollywood magic” in live action demonstrations, realistic tactical training scenarios and classroom education. Brian Does America, Day Nine: 617 miles from San Diego, California, to Deming, New Mexico. The Internet wasn't working at the hotel last night, so this is a little delayed-- but it was a wonderful day of driving. Before I left San Diego, I remembered that I hadn't checked off my last goal of the trip: to put my feet in the Pacific Ocean. So I drove to Mission Beach and did just that. (I have pictures to prove it!) It looked like a scene from an old surf movie: sea gulls, many people lounging around and playing in the water, lots of boogie boards and surfboards (although it wasn't a real good surf day, as far as I could tell), and cheap-looking shops along the water. To get to Mission Beach, I had to drive through Mission Bay, and the sailboats and catamarans on the water looked like the opening scene from an Aaron Spelling drama. The marine layer was just retreating. Delightful. And the water, which was about seventy degrees in San Diego yesterday, felt so, so good on my feet. I hated to leave, r ...
Mission Bay in San Diego is one of the most beautiful places in Southern California. Check out the rabbits hanging out in the grass surrounded by green grass...
Okay, so, today I leave San Diego and make my way to L.A. On the way there, we are stopping at a place called Laguna Beach and the water is supposed to be see through in some areas. And yesterday I went to Mission Bay and there was this place that they made called the Children's Pool which is now invaded by sea lions. They were so cute and fat. I also went to the pool every morning and stayed until dinner time and I am so tan right now
Moonlight Kayaking: If you are looking for something fun to do in San Diego this summer, I highly recommend the moonlight kayakes trip through Mission Bay Aquatic Center. I went with some friends on Friday night.and it was beautiful!! We kayaked around Mission Bay, over to Sea World, and around Princess Resort. It is so peaceful on the bay in the dark, and the shoreline lights and bon-fires makes for a stunning backdrop. We even saw some of those bioluminscence fish that glow (green and blue) in the water. We returned around 9:45pm and the grand finale was Sea World fireworks. Carol, Janet and Sue thanks for great evening!
Great video in English Language to understand what Higgs Boson is. 4th of July is USA Independance Day, but it was also yesterday that the CERN Lhc (Large Hadron Collider) announced that 2 experiments ATLAS and CMS has discovered an unknown particle and it is probably the Higgs Boson. Thoughts for my friends in USA that celebrated the 4th of July. I wish I was in South Lake Tahoe, California to watch the fireworks reflecting on the lake. Or in San Diego, California with reflections above Mission Bay, San Diego, California or the Pacific Ocean.
had an awesome day in San Diego playing in Mission Bay and Cornonado beach as well riding fun rides in Belmont Park. Aww San Diego what a great place to live!
Paradise Point Resort & Spa is a Southern California luxury resort located on an expansive island property on Mission Bay. This San Diego beach resort features accommodations, a spa, on-site dining, five pools, beach access and more.
San Diego has the friendliest Argentine Tango community I have encountered thus far. Wow! Wondering if people from here are generally very friendly. Don't know. Today I drove around to Mission Bay and La Jolla Cove (saw the Sea Lions and Pelicans) La Jolla beach (if that is what it is called). Just drove around and saw all the houses of various styles. The houses in one neighborhood nearly all had three car garages. They weren't even new houses either. Interesting.
Come to San Diego, There's so much to see... From the sparkling waters of Mission Bay, to the warm tortillas of Old Town. And after a day of sightseeing, why not try spankin' it on one of our city streets? San Diego, come, take a load off.
It's official. I passed the phase three of the Navigation and Seamanship course with the practical -- a three day, two night sailing trip from Del Mar Marina on Camp Pendleton to San Diego to Mission Bay and back to Oceanside (where Camp Pendleton MCB is located). Janet and I had a great time on the voyage. I am on my way to being a sailor. Not there yet, but getting close!
San Diego is a pretty nice city to run a full marathon, if the weather doesn't get too hot. The last time I ran there in 2010, I was running with very 'worn-out' shoes, plus I spent most of the Saturday before the race taking pictures and walking around Old Town. Even though I got really tired for the last 10 miles of the race and my forehead was turning red due to the sun, I still managed to finish it in a good time (5:13:21). The temperature may be well over 80 degrees in San Diego on race day, but the last 6 miles should be a little cooler at Mission Bay.
In 2 weeks from today (June 3), I'll be running my 5th. race of year 2012 and my 37th. full marathon overall: The ROCK 'N' ROLL MARATHON in San Diego, CA. It will be back to 26.2 miles starting at Balboa Park, running throught the streets of Downtown San Diego, Mission Bay (more sunburn), and finishing at none other than SeaWorld. All participants get a free ticket for a one-day pass to SeaWorld after the race. My plans after the race is to go back to my hotel, take a shower, take a couple of hours nap, and then take the trolley to Tijuana, Mexico so the ladies can massage my legs!!
Sitting at home with 2 out of 3 sick girls and then across the TV on Channel 13 says, Kellie Bogda has won a trip to San Diego, a Hotel on Mission Bay and Sea World tickets plus a few other items. Looks like a trip to Cali is on the way.
Have just spent a wonderful Mother's Day WEEK with the family and the twins in San Diego. Great weather. Went to Birch Aquarium, Zoo, Kids Museum in Balboa Park, Storytime and dance time at the Library, played in the sand and water at Mission Bay, topped it off with a visit to the Carlsbad Outlets! Whe, life is good!!
Day 1 of our San Diego Adventure: spent the day checking out Mission Bay and Belmont Park (very cool) and then La Jolla. Laid out on the beach for a few hours and then ate at George's. So good!! They gave us a bottle of California olive oil as a gift. It's so crazy!! The day went be very quickly.
