Found online and too good not to share ;) You know you are from San Diego when... ~Your high school had a surf team~ ~You can correctly pronounce Tierrasanta, La Jolla, Rancho Penasquitos, San Ysidro, Otay Mesa, Jamacha, Jamul, Cuyamaca, and El Cajon~ ~There are four distinct seasons: Summer, Not Quite Summer, Almost Summer, and Oh Hey Look Its Summer Again~ ~Chula-juana is a real town.~ ~Your house is worth more than some small countries~ ~You know what MB, OB, and PB stand for~ ~Every street name is either in Spanish or Spanish related, and you're surprised when other areas don't have this~ ~You can determine the accuracy of someone's "I'm ghetto" claim by knowing their high school. Most of us have read and love our Dr. Seuss books. Are you pronouncing it right? Actually he pronounced it "SOY-CE" because it rhymed with rejoice. "Theodor Seuss Geisel was an American writer, poet, and cartoonist. He was most widely known for his children's books, which he wrote and illustrated under the pseudonym Dr. Seuss." Incredible birthday- spent it by myself, but certainly not alone! Spent the day in La Jolla a beach town now a part of San Diego. The most glorious day ever- perfect waves for body surfing. Warm water and a warm day. It really couldn't have been better. Wave after wave of perfect height and energy- sometimes able to shoot to shore for 50 yds! It was very crowded but the world should be so lucky to have witnessed what I did today. People were so friendly- the climate could not have cooperated more! In the water catching waves: Two Saudi Arabian college students going to dental school in San Diego. An old *** fart (like me) from Boston having just moved here. A local from Ocean Beach (hippies down south a bit) showing off La Jolla waves with a friend from Winnepeg. Kids of every stripe and persuasion- one noticeble "river rat" on a huge intertube with dreds down to the middle of his back- couldn't have been older than 7 or 8- amazing catching waves on a huge intertube. An assortment of white folk from all o ...

Don't Let SB 1262 Pass SB 1262 if passed will restrict MMJ access as you know know it. The fact's are Doug Manchester's U-T San Diego is pushing SB 1262. He has control over the morning paper we read. He's bought eight small county newspapers and plays the "News and referrals" game. The U-T will print excerpts from the Encinitas Advocate or Rancho Sante Fe Reader, or La Jolla Light to cast an illusion that each paper is privately owned. Not. He throws two free bags of trash weekly in Cardiff/Encinitas and all the way to Valley Center. No one picks them up. They re-throw more bags, they litter. I'm making City Council Meeting with bags in hand. Encintias will opt-out of the USPS "Postal Service Area" and the automatic enrollment of every city in the county, followed by Valley Center, if we are successful. Doug Manchester is using the free- throwaway "Encintas Advocate" and 'Community Values" bags of advertising trash (Ortho Mattress Sale headliners) as a Trojan Horse to gain access to "grandfathering" his ...

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts about staying in San Diego vs La Jolla or somewhere else nearby?
Wrinkle Treatment San Diego Botox Treatment San Diego is a bustling metropolitan city, but its location to the coast makes it a popular hub for celebrities and other "beautiful people". Due to the city's close proximity to beautiful beaches like Torrey Pines and La Jolla, people in San Diego worry about their appearance and beauty. A top concern along these lines is wrinkles. The skin naturally loses shape and elasticity as we age, and as such, wrinkles begin to form in areas where the skin is stretched or changed due to facial expressions like smiling and frowning. There are wrinkle treatment options to consider in order to alleviate some of the appearance of wrinkles, including San Diego Botox treatments for example. It is important to be realistic about what Botox can do for you. The purpose of the Botox cosmetic injection is to block acetylcholine transmission between the nerves and the muscles. This neurotransmitter is responsible for telling the muscles when they should tense up or contract. By bloc ...

I don't know why San Diegans are so upset about the possibility of the La Jolla children's pool closing for seal pupping season Dec-May. Not one single San Diego native swims in the water in winter and spring. There is no surf for surfers so I don't see the problem. If humans were using the pool at those times 6 years ago the seals never would have come in and taken over. Get over it let the seals use it for six months and then humans for the other 6 montgs.

Torrey Pines Golf Course is a 36-hole municipal public golf facility owned by the City of San Diego. It sits on the coastal cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean in La Jolla, on the southern edge of the Torrey Pines State Reserve. Opened in 1957, it was built on the site of Camp Callan, a U.S. Army installation during World War II. Torrey Pines has two famous 18-hole golf courses, North and South, both designed by William F. Bell. The South Course was redesigned by Rees Jones in 2001 at 7,643 yards in length from the back tees. Since the late 1960s, Torrey Pines has hosted the annual Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour. The tournament uses both courses for the first two rounds and the South Course for the final two rounds; it hosted the 2008 U.S. Open on the South Course, won by Tiger Woods in a playoff. Much like Bethpage Black on Long Island, Torrey Pines has a unique method to ensure continued public access to the course. On weekends, individuals arrive as early as 6 p.m. the prior night to get in li ...

Guilty pleasure: watching the Lifetime movie with Gina Gershon as Donatella Versace. It's pretty bad/hilarious but I have to say that she does nail her accent quite well. Reminds me that Versace's unfortunate death was about two years aafter I had arrived in NYC. I of course had my black hair and also wore glasses. A homeless man down in Greenwich Village started screaming at me: "You're Andrew Cunanan. You killed Versace" ... That was not a flattering moment and it was additionally surreal because I had moved to NYC from San Diego where Andrew Cunanan had lived. In fact my first apartment in San Diego was in the same cove in La Jolla that they kept showing on TV as where he had lived or stayed with someone
Finally home after a nice week in San Diego. The beach house was perfect and we explored La Jolla, partied in the Gaslamp Quarter, laid around Mission Beach and explored the haunted parts of Old Town. But good to be back with both of my favorite girls.
SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Tourism Authority's annual promotion in which children receive free admission to San Diego area theme parks and museums during the month of October begins Tuesday. Among the so-called "Kidvasion" deals are free admission to the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, museums in Balboa Park, Birch Aquarium in La Jolla, Legoland California in Carlsbad, Sea World San Diego and the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum. The zoo and Safari Park are planning children's activities throughout the month, including a musical production featuring the Fisher-Price Little People. Youngsters will also be able to eat for free at many hotel restaurants throughout the region. Most of the bargains are for youth aged 12 and under, but the deals and restrictions vary by venue. The restrictions generally limit the freebies to a corresponding number of adult admissions. The zoo has offered kids-free Octobers for more than 25 years. Area tourism officials expanded the program last year to get families to extend th ...
Travel karma strikes again: this time on the ground rather than in the air. My brainstorm of getting a hotel next door to the San Diego airport so I could easily make a 6 am flight completely backfired. When my brother and I pulled up at the hotel I so cleverly booked and prepaid, we were greeted by a pack of hookers in the portico and a gathering of drunk revelers in the parking lot. The added bonus was that the hotel building actually houses a 24 hour medical marijuana dispensary. Upon a quick double-check of the hotel's reviews via smartphones, we learned of the hotel's infestation with bedbugs and retreated without going in the front door. After more than an hour of driving around and 30 phone calls later we found ourselves at the most expensive Holiday Inn Express ever in La Jolla. Here's the punchline: in the bathroom of this super posh express hotel in one of the most exclusive areas of the country, a little cockroach ran right across my big toe.

Glad to be home. I have to say that my wife has been at me for years to go to California for vacation. I never wanted any part of that state. However, after a last minute decision, we ended up in San Diego and we all had the best vacation ever. There is so much to do and we got to do several of them including the San Diego Zoo, a Padres game, shopping in La Jolla, golf at Torrey Pines to name a few. We also went and saw Monsters Univ at a theatre with the most amazing seating. If you ever want a fabulous getaway, give San Diego a try. The views are unbelievable. Thanks to my wife and son for staying on me, I know we had some much needed vacation/family time. We will be going back soon. Did I mention I played Torrey Pines???

52 Sundays on a Mission. This week, in addition to attending a very interesting church (write up coming soon), I was on a bit of a mission. Three years ago, one of my closest and oldest friends and her husband adopted a sibling set. And literally overnight they became a family of six. When she heard that the kids were coming, she called me and I flew out to San Diego and for four days we shopped for everything one needed for four kids from the ages of one up to nine. We didn’t have time to change the house to fit the kids, everything happened so fast we simply layered the kids on top of their existing lives and hoped for the best. Fast forward three years . . . Kris, Stan, and the kiddos are an amazing family. They are love and joy and hard work epitomized. There is nothing quite so special as visiting them and having time with my lovely god-kiddos. I was with them in San Diego when I visited La Jolla Lutheran Church two weeks ago. And it was then that I saw a need that I simply could not wal ...
Planning to drive from San Diego to Carmel CA, what would you recommend we see, do, stay, eat?
CRAIG STADLER managed to hold on to win his first Title since 2004 by winning by one over FRED COUPLES in the 2013 ENCOMPASS CHAMPIONSHIP. The Walrus has been one of the distinctive players in golf over the last 40 years and it is good to see an old timer win, especially in view of the fact he walked the entire last round. I have been fortunate to meet Stadler several times in my life. When I did my internship at the University Hospital of San Diego County Craig was 16 years old but was already in the newspapers. He did manage to grow up in a pretty nice place--La Jolla California which also spawned GENE LITTLER. I remember growing up feeling sorry for Gene Littler growing up in a strange named small town in California. Little did I know what La Jolla was until I got to San Diego. He won the US AMATEUR in 1973 at the age of 20. He also won the Masters in 1982. In 2003 at age 50 he won a regular tour event, the B.C. Open. In 2010 he had a total left hip replacement which apparently has extended his career. ...
Do any of you have experience staying in Coronado, San Diego, or La Jolla? We want to book a local getaway, and need some suggestions for hotels. Thanks!
finally was able to leave all the evil bad vibes in the OC behind, and continued southbound to San Diego County line, first stop for morning church was in an outdoor "prayer garden" at an Oceanside RV park (of all things) with Harley...we prayed together, and after what we just went thru...Harley is an angel-trooper and much happier, less spooked today... then we continued southbound and down, shooting over 200 pictures to document the old El Camino Real, missions, historical points of interest, and of course the ocean, surfing, and finally ending up a beautiful warm, sunny and happier day here at my mom's house tonight in La Jolla topped off with a beautiful sunset! (i plan to eventually post all these great shots in a future photo album I Will Call my Summer Solstice coastal getaway)! Hope your Sunday was also a special one for you too! e
A few photos from my La Jolla, San Diego trip a few weeks ago. The sea lions are at the La Jolla Cove and the Koala is at Sea World. They have an awesome Australian exhibit there now.

Banana Island LAGOS AND THE REAL COST OF LIVING If you never heard about the Island, now you know. Banana Island is Nigeria’s most extravagant and expensive neighborhood – on par with the Seventh Arrondissement in Paris, La Jolla in San Diego, California and Tokyo’s Shibuya or Roppongi neighborhoods. The exclusive playground of Nigeria’s obscenely wealthy, Banana Island is an artificial island built on reclaimed land in Ikoyi-Lagos. From an aerial view, the island is actually shaped like a banana, hence its name. Sitting on 1.6 million square meters, the sumptuous island is divided into about 535 plots ranging in size from 1,000 square meters and 3,000 square meters. Banana Island is a place of unrivalled opulence and grandeur. It’s an entirely different world from other parts of the country. It’s a gated community, and its inhabitants enjoy such luxuries as underground electrical systems and water supply networks, 24 hour-electricity supply (the only other place such privileged is the Niger . ...
*Breaking* CD 52 Survey: DeMaio’s Being *** And Support Of SSM Not An Issue With District GOP Voters Posted by Jon Fleischman at 7:00 am on Jun 18, 2013 Late last week the California Public Safety Voter Guide (managed by Landslide Communications) commissioned a brief survey in the 52nd Congressional District. The poll was conducted by the respected firm NSON out of Utah with calls made to 606 district voters who cast ballots in the last general election, This district includes some of Downtown San Diego and takes the coast West and North before jutting inland east of La Jolla. You can see a map here. Carl DeMaio Last year wealthy former San Diego City Councilman Scott Peters, a Democrat, defeated incumbent Congressman Brian Bilbray in this seat, by a very narrow margin. Recently former San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio, apparently rested up after his marathon campaign for Mayor, announced his candidacy for this seat. As of now he is the only announced GOP candidate. The survey really only aske ...
To my friends and (my adopted family) - you know who you are. The first of my eye surgeries went great (retina detachment)- thanks to Scripps Memorial Hospital and staff in La Jolla, CA! I cannot really see out of my right eye yet, I can see some light, and some color that is all. The next surgery is an important one also, I will need the cateract removed from my eye. I have complete "FAITH" in my Dr. - his name is Dr. Nicklas London - I know that God sent me to him. I have no Health Insurance, so, if anyone knows of a good and inexpensive insurance for me to get onto, please let me know. God has been holding my hand through the whole experience. Your continued prayers are deeply appreciated during this time. Susan Skoglund, San Diego, CA
Sadly, the San Diego portion of the trip has come to an end. Between downtown proper, La Jolla and Coronodo Island... Coronodo wins. I need to figure out some sort of business plan that will allow me live there without going broke in the span of a week. Now off to L.A.

Sully's San Diego. Today's poll: Best place to live in San Diego.after La Jolla, Del Mar and Coronado. Your nomination?
Mr. Shamrell & I have been scouting locations for a studio quite a bit lately... yes, both of us, because even though he's not an "employee", he's my business partner, and I CAN'T imagine running this business without his help & support! It would not be what it is today without him, that's for sure. Speaking of help & support: I can't pretend that I know everything about a city I just moved to. We're trying to spend a bit of time in different neighborhoods, so I'm getting a decent feel for what's where... but I'd love YOUR help! If you're familiar with San Diego, I'd love to know where you think the best place would be for a studio! Downtown... Hillcrest... La Jolla... Del Mar... Little Italy... North Park... UTC... Coronado... or...? I'd love to hear what you think! Feel free to leave a comment here or send me a message. I have a few favorite neighborhoods already, but I'm always open to your opinions! Thanks friends :)

New San Diego Mayor shaking up City Hall. By Tony Perry June 2, 2013, 7:43 a.m. With his constituents, many from the city’s lower-income neighborhoods, he is patient, respectful and determined to help them battle what he sees as an entrenched establishment. In conflict with other politicians, or with big-business interests, he’s combative, given to rudeness, and often uncompromising. “I’m passionate,” explains Bob Filner, San Diego's new Democratic mayor. The change from Filner’s predecessor, Jerry Sanders, a moderate Republican and former police chief and United Way executive, has been startling. Within days of taking office, Filner ordered the Police Department to stop trying to close down medical marijuana dispensaries. He moved to protect the seals on the beach at La Jolla and ordered redlight cameras removed from all city intersections. In a fight over an allocation to the tourism industry, he went directly at the City Council with accusations of favoritism. “It was as though Filner mar ...
What has the 3&2 been doing lately? Well ladies and Gentlemen, today with IS3 Hafner, we are volunteering with the Arthritis Walk here in San Diego. Last Thursday we spent 3 hours preparing and serving lunch to the less forturnate residents of San Diego at St. Vincent De Paul. We have had many of our Sailors advance and elections will be coming up again here very soon. We plan on doing two projects or more a month and to have a lot of fun with recreational trips such as kayaking in La Jolla. Enjoy your weekend and be safe- MC2 Timothy Black, President.
I loved La Jolla Cove ~ but I know that was closer to San Diego. The people watching at Venice Beach was fun too, lol! :)
Russ and I NEED (yes, it's no longer in the "want" stage...it's now in the "need" stage to maintain my sanity) to get away for a few nights. We're thinking 2 nights/3 days somewhere within easy driving distance of HB. We are kinda over Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, or San Diego. Anybody have any fun, creative suggestions or recommendations? PS. I'm thrilled to say that our kids are NOT INVITED. :)
Spent an awesome week in San Diego taking in the sites; Balboa Park, the zoo, La Jolla, Seaport Village, Old Towne, Coronado Island, Padres ball game, aircraft carrier USS Midway, and even Tijuana
Lois and I are now in Newport Beach, CA for the Home Entertainment Show. This morning we saw a bit of San Diego, including the La Jolla Cove, where we watched Sea Lions, Cormorants and Pelicans cavorting about and had lunch on a patio with a great view of the ocean. Very cool. Tomorrow is devoted to setting up and tweaking our demo room (Hilton 331) for great sound. Wish us luck.

16-day California driving tour planned this summer... spread over San Francisco, Napa, San Diego, and Los Angeles...looking for suggestions of things to do. 6 stadiums, 7 baseball games, 1 Jay Z/Justin Timberlake concert (dont judge!), and another concert at the Hollywood Bowl. What MUST we do in California?

VIII. SAN DIEGO – Balboa Park – La Jolla – Cabrillo National Monument California, California. Coming off a plane almost exclusively used by members of the US Marine Core we expect to start our trip with three days of relaxation on the beach and nothing to see in a little San Diego. Err. Although it is sunny it is too cold and too windy to tan at the beach, although we see the sea right out of our little hotel room. Therefore we contest the Californian public transportation infrastructure for the first time and go on a ride. Amazingly enough, you can reach almost every point you desire by bus; if you know where to wait for it. Further on, it is amazing what we found looking for something touristic to do. Balboa Park we discovered as one of the loveliest parks seen so far, and its roots were set in the early 14th century. Left over are the beautiful restored buildings and gardens, community rooms, amphitheaters and good places for wedding pictures – amazingly beautiful. More famous is San Diego for ...

So I went on stage last night... for the first time in 15 years. The first time was in 1998 at The Comedy Store in La Jolla. I'd been on stage for a few theater roles, most were in grade school, but I'd also been an American Sign Language interpreter in training and had experience on stage that was recent. In addition to that, I was working as an actor or *** at Nightmare On 5th Street in Downtown San Diego. I felt more comfortable on stage than most people and felt it wouldn't be that difficult, and it wasn't, but it was nerve racking. I was frazzled just trying to get my two required friends in. Each comedian was required to bring two friends to ensure we had an audience that wasn't comprised only of comics. I brought three, a friend and his wife as well as someone they recently set me up with... and I believe this was our second or third date. She didn't have her ID because she explained she didn't normally carry one. The best joke I made that night was outside the club in response: "What ar ...

Nice weather at Torrey Pines: 55 F, wisps of high clouds against an otherwise blue sky in La Jolla, CA (just north of San Diego) for the Farmer's Insurance Open. Started as the San Diego Open in 1968 with Andy Williams as celebrity host, then eventually evolved into the Buick Open and finally today's Farmer's Insurance Open as of 2010 (don't cha just love this era of corporate sponsorships?). Tiger's leading going into a late start of the 4th round (due yesterday's fog-out) by 5 - will he keep the lead? Finish will be on Monday... To my friends in the northeast, well, move west. No white stuff on the ground here. :-)
Looks like we're all in for La Jolla, San Diego & Heartbreak Ridge (13.1's) are on the radar, too.
During the Christmas and New Year Holidays we visited San Diego, CA. We went to La Jolla. Raymond Chandler lived and is buried there. Here are images of his and his wife (Cissy) grave and a memorial to him. Chandler and Dashiell Hammett are best known for their hard-boiled detective stories. Chandler had a way with words and was great with wisecrack. He wrote the famous sentence "Down these mean streets ..." On his grave stone is written: "Dead men are heavier than broken hearts."
A history of class and power in San Diego, an anti-tourist guide that debunks the sunshine myth for locals and visitors alike. Let's just say there was good liaison between city government and business.—Ex-mayor of San Diego, Frank Curran, on the 1960s For fourteen million tourists each year, San Diego is the fun place in the sun that never breaks your heart. But America's eighth largest city has a dark side. Behind Sea World, the Zoo, the Gaslamp District, and the beaches of La Jolla hides a militarized metropolis, boasting the West Coast's most stratified economy and a tumultuous history of municipal corruption, virulent anti-unionism, political repression, and racial injustice. Though its boosters tirelessly propagate an image of a carefree beach town, the real San Diego shares dreams and nightmares with its violent twin, Tijuana. This alternative civic history deconstructs the mythology of "America's finest city," exposing its true undergirdings of militarism, racism and economic inequality. Acclaim ...
Chico State and UC San Diego are tied 56-all with 3:20 to play in La Jolla.
As I leave for San Diego tomorrow, it'll be freezing and hitting record lows. The zoo is turning on heaters. And all the while the East Coast will have record heat. Cambridge will actually be warmer than La Jolla. Are you kidding me?!!!

I have tolerated my share of shoddy service and rude treatment at a few restaurants in my day. But not anymore. If someone’s rude to me at an eating establishment, I vote with my feet. There’s probably a nicer place right down the street anyway. An experience last summer will illustrate. My cousin and his wife were visiting from back East. They wanted to see San Diego. And my cousin had heard about the Ortega Highway. He asked if we could take that scenic drive. I charted our route down I-15 to the Highway 74 exit. We had lunch at the rustic diner overlooking Lake Elsinore. Then we drove west, stopping at Mission San Juan Capistrano, the California Surf Museum in Oceanside and to the motel where we had reservations in La Jolla. We got cleaned up then scouted the AAA guide for a nice, beachfront restaurant. The first one didn’t take reservations. The receptionist told me we would have to come in and see the hostess to find out if we could get a table, and how long the wait would be. I asked her if th ...

Turning North along the historic El Camino Real brings us to La Jolla's Rock Bottom, Sorrento Valley's New English, Carlsbad's Pizza Port and the "pride of the 'side", Oceanside Ale Works. Heading East through the hotbed North County area leads us to the newest stops on the trail, Iron Fist and Stumblefoot. From here it's a short hop over t ...

It's going to be another beautiful day here in San Diego. I think I'll ride my bike from downtown through Point Loma to Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, and La Jolla. That should be good for me and take up most of the day.
Just spent the last two days with a new Chinese investor from Shanghai. I took him around all of San Diego showing him homes Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, and La Jolla. His son might be attending UCSD a year from now, so he wants to see what San Diego was like. I think it went really well. Keeping my fingers crossed. Now I'm hoping he will invest in rental properties and maybe buy a residence here. They really loved the city. But we all knew San Diego was a great place to live. Now I just have to convince the rest of China. LOL.

By Brent E. Beltrán On Thursday, October 11 the architecturally aware people of San Diego got together to celebrate the annual Orchids & Onions awards at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla. This annual event of architecture snobs
Cannot believe how nice everyone is here in San Diego. Went to La Jolla (beautiful scenery, dirty sand and tons of sea grass covering beach), Balboa Park (beautiful Spanish Architecture) and Coronado (beautiful beaches, houses and hotels) and Old Town (Spannish Community with yummy food). Unfortunately, we missed the Coronado Pedistrian Ferry, which went to the San Diego Bay full of yachts, cruise ships and sail boats. Coronado was def the most impressive with all kinds of beaches and very clean. Weird how we haven't seen any cops or State Troopers, but yet don't seemed they're needed. Accidentally was 1 mi away from Tijuana before we realized it and turned around! Hollywood bound tomorrow :)
Too much to do this weekend. ND Streetfest, CD release parties, Festa in Little Italy tomorrow, Oktoberfest, rad music at Belly Up tonight, music at Ruby Room tomorrow, La Jolla Art @ Wine Festival today, rad music at Bar Eleven tonight, and of course, BRUNCH. I love San Diego. The Nardcast

Wonderful event with the City Club of San Diego and La Jolla Country Day yesterday, then a great evening with close friends last night. Eggs Benedict then a Tour of La Jolla beaches this afternoon, slipped on a rock, skinned my hand and foot and landed on my butt, but STILL had a lovely relaxing Sunday. I'm so not ready for this weekend to be over. So I'm drawing it out as long as possible. ;-)
Mitt Romney needs to meet Richard Hayes. Mr. Hayes is a city of San Diego sanitation worker. His route includes the street in La Jolla, where Mitt Romney owns a $12 million oceanfront mansion. This is the house where he's putting in an elevator for his cars. Mitt Romney's "47 percent" videotape revealed his contempt for tens of millions of Americans. He insulted seniors receiving financial and medical support through the Social Security and Medicare programs they paid for during their working lives; veterans accepting medical care at Veterans Administration hospitals and clinics; and students getting a start on a promising future through the help of Pell Grants and government backed student loans. "I'll never convince them," Romney said. "They should take personal responsibility and care for their lives." No one forced Romney to trash these Americans. He was simply stating, to a privileged audience behind closed doors, what he really believes. He never expected that his remarks would be heard by the wider ...

I was just listening to Bill Clinton. He spoke of San Diego with both Democrats and Republicans working together that makes this city what it is. I do so love San Diego. He said because of the port with its military, (San Diego probably has all branches of military around the city," University of California Medical, leading gnome research and Qualcom leading computing has produced incredible results. Salk Institute is in La Jolla, a San Diego community. He said the linking of all these forces is saving lives world wide. I have been involved with pediatric cancer research and I could not help think about some child being treated because we can now read human genes. Some children are living that would not. We are not yet completely there. Clinton also spoke of Orlando. Disney World, I think is there. Clinton said that Orlando has become a center for computer simulation programming. Gamers especially would like that but simulation is so important in many aspects. It is amazing what forces working together c ...
Had so much fun in San Diego, La Jolla, Torrey Pines, Del Mar, Pacific Beach. Only regret was not hitting the waves. Water felt so chilly!

This is an article written about Peter Geise. Below is a picture of me with the painting that he gave me. If any of ya'll are in the La Jolla area, please drop by and see his work. :) This article will be in this Sunday's Union Tribune: Peter Geise Solo Show at the La Jolla Anthenaeum If you have followed abstract art in San Diego you should know about artist Peter Geise. He entered the local art scene in 1981. By 1987 he had received two best of show awards in two different galleries. It was then he realized he wanted to pursue art full time. Geise has shown with artists like Richard Alan Morris and Walter Hasse Wojtyla. The actor, Vincent Price, has purchased several pieces of his earlier work. Geise's paintings begin by an automatic process of painting. The artist paints not being concerned, at first, of what he is doing. Later, Geise employs a process of editing to finalize the piece. Its a "stream of consciousness" style that taps into the subconscious mind which many artists and writers have exper ...
The way i were! In 1971 i PFC Joey Gomez station in Fort Knox, KY walked in to H&S 2 assigned motor pool to pick up a Army Jeep to drive my CO around. I was greeted by a big handsome big mustache seargent who asked me where i was from. Being the arrogant pri..person that i was i answer him by saying "The World, Man." He said you are either from New York or California and I said Cal. He was from San Diego. It turns out he was stationed in my barracks. A friendship started. He drove a 1969 Chevy hotrod and made my life there in Fort Knox a lot of fun. I remember watering skeeing in the Ohio River at 3 am in the morning after some . . He asked me to drive home with him but i was broke. He was on his way to Vietnam for i think his 3rd tour of duty. I had gone home for Christmas so I had no money. $93 a month, pfc money. He offer to pay for everything and we came crosscountry. We got together in La Jolla and all i remember is great times. I am sorry to say the i didn't stay in touch with Seargent ...
I live in San Diego, California and it’s been called the “above all”, “most beautiful city in America” and other names. It is also said to have the best weather in the country. I can attest to the weather it is beautiful normally ranging in temperature between 63 and 74 year round. I can also say that walking through the city by the coast is breath taking. If you walk from Mission Beach to La Jolla, UCSD to downtown La Jolla, and UCSD to Del Mar, Del Mar to Solana Beach, I could go on, but the walks are breath taking. Now when I say this (I think of the Seinfeld episode with Elaine, the Doctor and the baby) “breath taking” can be a matter of choice. I remember living in San Francisco and the walks were awesome because of the buildings, different people, cable cars, street cars and 40 square miles, but the weather can get cold ( not East Coast cold), cooler than San Diego or Los Angeles. Okay by now you guessed it; I love both areas and both offer different pleasures. People seem to be ha ...
A 5.3 earthquake that was preceded and followed by strong aftershocks broke along the San Andreas fault system Sunday, causing shaking throughout San Diego County and parts of Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire, the US Geological Survey said. The quake jiggled the stands at the Del Mar Racetrack, and shook offices in Mission Valley. But it does not appear that significant damage occurred. The USGS quickly received reports os shaking from residents of Oceanside, Santee, Escondido, Vista, San Carlos, Alpine, Chula Vista, San Diego, La Jolla, Encinitas, Pacific Beach and Lakeside. (Please email us your quake report at Gary.robbinsswarm began on Saturday night with a series of quakes in the 3s and4s in the desert about 90 miles east of San Diego. The series appears to have reached its peak at 12:33 p.m. Sunday when a 5.3 quake hit four miles southwest of Moreland. The USGS originally reported the two similar- sized quake occurred in the minutes after the main shock. But the size of Some of the quakes wa ...
Got home last night. Had great visits with friends in Ventura, sister-in-law in humid San Diego where we went to the Maritime Museum. Wonderful sushi in La Jolla. Then to Pasadena to visit sister and bro-in-law. Rode bus to see Alison Balsam at Hollywood Bowl, rode metro to Museum of Natural History by USA (4 all day metro passes for a total of $7.80!), Lar drove us to Norton Simon Museum and we saw 'Intouchables' at the theater. Wonderful movie. Max came with us for the first time to visit people and requited himself rather well. Ran all over the Ventura hillside, played nicely with Karen's little dogs and at the dog park. He didn't like getting on and off of the boat, tho. He fell in love with a neighbor in Pasadena and was generally genial.
San Diego is beautiful! Yesterday the view from Cabrillo National Monument was breathtaking as was La Jolla. Today we are off to to Coronado and then to join the family at Michael and Liz's wedding.
Chapter II, our move from San Diego in the winter of 79 to Beaverton, Oregon. My dad took a job with Westinghouse and my older brother Glenn was in a Ranger School, older sister was in Texas after Brazil as an exchange student and Teri, Mike and I were with mom and dad through that change of pace far from the sunny beaches of La Jolla. We moved and drove through the night to get to our location. It was such a short life there. We had Ginger and Gidget.. Our pets (I will show a photo later) and we dealt wish harsh weather. It was such a life of just going to school and coming home and playing in the back yard.. So much rain, and just not comfortable living there with so much sunshine from where we came from. Those who lived there, were comfortable with it. Then Mt. St. Helen's Blew up, That explosion covered our home and neighborhood like snow. I recall my dad saying not to try to brush off the car with a broom because it would destroy the paint. It was caked to our shoes, National Guard came i ...

Forget raindrops on roses and bright satin sashes. Give me Pike Place Market in the winter with hot apple cider, december weekends in Mazama with the girls and a fireplace, 2.5 hour flights to San Diego-and considering that-summertime in Balboa Park on free museum Tuesday, sandwiches and sunset from the La Jolla Coves, Driving to Julian in the fall for fresh apple pie. And the loving embrace from my sisters and family. THESE are a few of my favorite things.
Went to the zoo, then swimming with sea lions at La Jolla and had supper in Old Town - a perfect day in San Diego!
