Found online and too good not to share ;) You know you are from San Diego when... ~Your high school had a surf team~ ~You can correctly pronounce Tierrasanta, La Jolla, Rancho Penasquitos, San Ysidro, Otay Mesa, Jamacha, Jamul, Cuyamaca, and El Cajon~ ~There are four distinct seasons: Summer, Not Quite Summer, Almost Summer, and Oh Hey Look Its Summer Again~ ~Chula-juana is a real town.~ ~Your house is worth more than some small countries~ ~You know what MB, OB, and PB stand for~ ~Every street name is either in Spanish or Spanish related, and you're surprised when other areas don't have this~ ~You can determine the accuracy of someone's "I'm ghetto" claim by knowing their high school. For example, El Camino High School or Crawford High School~ ~You see weather forecasts for four different climate zones in the same county, and aren't remotely surprised. On This Date In California Weather History (July 22) 2006: A major heat wave with humidity, in some ways unprecedented, hit Southern California. It was 121° F in Palm Springs, 120° F at Indio and Thermal, 114° F at Ontario and the Wild Animal Park, and 113° F at El Cajon. It was 112° F at Escondido and 109° F in La Mesa; both were highest temperatures on record. The 112° F reading in Escondido beat the old record of 111° F on 9.6.1955. Record high minimum temperatures were recorded in most places. Desert locations reported the all-time warmest month on record and a few locations west of the mountains (such as San Diego) did not drop below 70° F all month. Sea surface temperatures hit 80° F. Many were killed from the heat, and many more were treated for heat related illnesses. Some power outages occurred. Strong thunderstorm winds hit Lake Elsinore and blew down a 40 foot tree. 2006: San Jose only dropped down to 74° F. An all-time record! 2003: The high temperature at Lovelock, NV, was 108° F, ...
Iraqi Americans live across the U.S. with other hubs of Iraqis living in the Detroit,[7] New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, Phoenix and Washington DC areas. Atlanta has developed a large Iraqi community; so has the state of Texas, primarily in the Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth areas. Over 20,000 Iraqi Americans reside in California (many tens of thousands live in San Diego and Los Angeles areas) but with the most concentrated in the communities of Modesto, Ceres and Turlock in Stanislaus County in Central Valley, mainly are descendants of agricultural laborers invited to work in the US in the 1920s.[citation needed] A quarter of Iraqi refugees to the U.S. settle in San Diego County.[8] In 2010, Iraqis made up about one-quarter of El Cajon's population of 96,000, with an estimated 7,000 Iraqis arriving in 2009. The city is believed to have the second-largest number of Iraqis in the country, most of them Chaldean Christians.[9]
Just know it's going to be a special week when I get a call interrupting my preparation for Belmont Stakes. Call well worth taking, though. David Acevedo, lake supervisor at Lake Jennings, called to report lake record blue catfish. Bob Bowden, El Cajon, fishing with his grandsons, Patrick, 7, Robert, 5, caught and released a 71.3-pound blue catfish. Caught it on a plastic white frog with a small white grub trailer, all balled up on a treble hook. Outside the box? That's how Tim Gray, lake ranger described the rig. "It's all about fishing with my grandsons," Bowden said. "That's what made it extra special." His entire family joined in the celebration at the dock, wife, Linda, daughter, Bobbie Barker. Boys couldn't stop fishing as grandad did his interviews. Great Sunday morning celebration of San Diego's resources, wonders and most of all, great people. Fun times, man. Now I'm off to Belmont Park, Long Island and a chance to see history made next Saturday with California Chrome. Blessed, man, blessed.

This is a hard thing to say. Last Sunday night, Richard's youngest daughter Donna suffered a major heart attack and died. She had just turned 47.. We are devastated. For our San Diego friends and family, the services are on March 14 at 11 AM at Unity of El Cajon church - 311 Highland Ave. I had to look it up, now I remember driving by many times when we lived down there. We are flying in on Wed. Please keep her husband William and son Ryan in your prayers. Also sister Kim and her family, and us.
This is for San Diego locals only: I had a pleasant surprise in "El Cajon" yesterday when I stopped at a semi-Super Walmart to do some last minute Valentine's Day shopping (is there any other kind of Valentine's Day shopping?) The store is right off I-8 at the Los Coches exit -- convenient to anyone who has business in the east county. El Cajon has one of the highest sales taxes in the state (top five, at least) -- currently 9%. But my Walmart sales slip showed only 8%. I just checked the map and found that this "El Cajon" store is JUST outside the E.C. city limits, so the sales tax is 1% less. I'm a weird guy about high taxes. I seldom will shop in a jurisdiction that gouges the consumers. I encourage people to boycott this greedy city (along with National City, La Mesa and Vista). Two results from this experience/experiment: 1. I bought too little taxable goods on this first visit. 2. I'll be buying more on future trips. Oh, let me add that the Walmart staff was VERY helpful, guiding me to the item ...

Pro golfer and San Diego native Phil Mickelson is planning to leave California because he doesn't want to pay our high tax rate. Tiger Woods did. Mickelson, who makes $47 million a year plus $45 million in endorsements, has sold his Rancho Santa Fe double-wide for $2.7 million. I encourage Phil to leave as soon as possible, and don't come back. You are a true victim, Phil. There's so *** many poor people in California. In San Diego County, for example, it's the 30% of people in El Cajon living at or below the poverty line who are responsible for your family's suffering, robbing you blind to pay for their lavish lifestyle. They won't even pay to watch you at the Torrey Pines Open to help you out! Lots of them have to work at minimum wage jobs Thursday thru Sunday, but so?!! We're all in the same boat. They have customers swearing at them, you have people in the gallery saying "Oh" when you miss a putt. Same difference. Why should they get all the goodies and you get screwed. This is interesting, this Muslim in Amearica murdered his wife, and tried to use his evil crime to try to accuse Americans of a hate crime... Kassim Alhimidi (R), has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife, Shaima Alawadi. EL CAJON, Calif. -- Eight months after the beating death of an Iraqi-American woman that drew international attention because it appeared to be a hate crime, the woman's husband has been arrested on suspicion of her murder. Police in the San Diego suburb of El Cajon announced the arrest Friday of Kassim Alhimidi, 48, and described the killing as an act of domestic violence. The March killing of 32-year-old Shaima Alawadi made waves around the world after the couple's 17-year-old daughter told reporters that she found a note by her mother's bludgeoned body that read: "Go back to your country, you terrorist." But the case took a wholly different direction on Thursday when Alhimidi was taken into custody after being called into the police station, said El Cajon Police Chief Jim R ...
A personal friend sent me a link to a Sunday morning sermon by David Jeremiah. David P. Jeremiah is a Christian author and currently the senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, in El Cajon, California, a suburb of San Diego. The sermon is forty five minutes long, but it is riveting. Dave Jeremiah is no “flaming torch,” or right-wing radical, but he lays out the realities of the current election for Christians. This is really a “must see” and can be accessed at .

I, Shawn Allen Schindler-Grayson-Krueger, am a Major General of the USMC, UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS. Why? How? Ask General Gray, my cousin, how I saved his life at the U.S. Grant Hotel in The Gaslamp District of San Diego, California. These news crews, broke into an official military ceremony on the second floor, the presidential (hall), alongside a terrorist with an early suicide bomb strapped and tailored to his body along with a 9mm UZI (compact version). According to 20+ years on this case, I found that this terrorist and his crew still in fact live in San Diego, County, in the El Cajon area. Mostly they stayed behind to receive orders from IRAQ, and to save their lives due to the failed terrorist attack; they would have been killed under their military obligations and modified Islamic laws. We need to apprehend these Iraqi terrorists, even if it has been over 20 years. I worked this case you better not let me down after 20+ years, Sir. Understood, Sir or Ma’am. Ask anyone in San Diego, they all wi ...

A lot of change going on. My church, Extreme Gospel Worship Center is moving. Next Sunday will be the last one at our current location. I know it's just a building, but for me its kinda bittersweet to go. We have seen God move so many times and in so many ways there. Many of us have learned and grown so much in the Lord there. But I am also excited for what God has in store. He is moving us forward to bigger and better places and things. I truly believe that there is no limit to our potential. And through God we will achieve great things. For all my friends in the San Diego area, I welcome you to join us Next Sunday at 9:30am as we say goodbye to Extreme Gospel at 1013 Broadway in El Cajon. And then we welcome you to join us the following Sunday at 10:00am as Extreme Gospel moves to its temporary location at 2710 Otay Lakes Rd in Chula Vista. Then we welcome you AGAIN to join us at our permanent location at 880 Kuhn Dr in Chula Vista once we finish construction.
Me again.I feel like a broken record. I sure wish Mary Poppins was real and came cheap. I need another me. Anyone in the San Diego area that is able to grab Mikel after school today ( Lemon Grove ) and drop him off at home ( El Cajon )? He has football practice and if he misses he doesn't get to play. Let me know, thanks! Sunday I will be teaching him how to use the trolley! Tanya Pemberton, I'm not texting to ask you, only because I'm guessing you will be at Bible Bowl today :)

If you happen to be in San Diego tomorrow, please join us for the "Cure 4 Kaleo Fundraiser" at Downtown Cafe in El Cajon. Located at 182 E. Main Street. Where there will be good food, good music and entertainment, all for a GOOD cause. With Kaleo's rare blood disease, we can all help by raising our awareness and donating towards his cause. My good friend, Sam Siufanua is Kaleo's father, and I promised him you would be there. So, change up your schedule for tomorrow, and try to arrive at noon. Okay? Thanks.
if El Cajon is the armpit of San Diego County, Spring Valley is the sweaty fold of flab hangin just above the hip.
Last minute dinner opportunity for anyone in San Diego, a bunch of us are meeting at Ali Baba in El Cajon for dinner at 6:30 PM (Saturday):
San Diego FB friends: am at Stuart Terry Autor Repair, 4858 El Cajon Blvd., San Diego, 92115. My van has 250,000 miles on it and Stuart is a key reason why. He is very honest, does superb work and I plop down in his office and turn on my laptop while he does a fix. Am having my van checked over since I leave for Colorado on Monday. After the fair is over I gear up for what is always the busiest month of the year: October when I do my anti-drug program in schools during Red Ribbon week and other events. This year the other events include two shows at a big family night in a city in L.A. County and a two day festival in Northern CA. That's not counting the school shows.
What a dream I had last night. I dreamt I went to a school play production of Rocky Horror Picture Show and dreamt almost the whole show. Kc Bug was there, too, but I gave him my car keys mid-way through and when it was over I started running home from El Cajon to San Diego, in blue jean pants and barefooted. There was a lot more detail than that.

Road biked 34.5 miles in 2:55:39 @ 11.8 mph average speed; 34.9 mph max speed. I trudged up Fletcher Pkwy Hill, then cruised on west to the little park, near the jetty at South Mission Beach (21.5 miles in a flat 2 hours). I returned back through Mission Valley until my legs turned to jelly, so I stopped at the Grantville Trolley Station and caught the trolley back to El Cajon. Need I mention it is another beautiful day in San Diego? :-)
So Nicole started her new promotion today and was telling me about her office. Her old job she could see the Chargers practicing outside her building, and in her new building, she can see the San Diego Convention Center AND Petco Park AND all of Downtown San Diego. I'm in El Cajon and see the back of Big Lots. Mayhaps I picked the wrong career, hm. Great job, Coleski, I'm so proud of you!

Shaima Alawadi (pictured), an Iraqi immigrant, was taken off life support three days after being attacked with a tire iron at her home in El Cajon, California.
Jimmie Johnson was born on September 17, 1975 in El Cajon, California, a working-class suburb on the desert side of San Diego. (Click here for a complete listing of today's sports birthdays.) Jimmie's parents, Cathy and Gary, raised him and his two younger brothers, Jarit and Jessie, in a modest home. Gary worked for a tire company and moved earth as a bulldozer operator. Cathy drove a school bus. They made financial sacrifices to give their boys the best opportunities possible and support them in their various passions. For Jimmie, that included surfing and racing. Jimmie got the speed bug during the family’s frequent camping vacations, which included thrills and spills on dirt bikes. He displayed a prodigal aptitude for these machines and began his motorsports career at the age of four, racing 50cc bikes. Four years later, he won the 60cc championship. Jimmie had to sit out the end of that season with a broken knee, but he had garnered so many victories that all he had to do was run another lap to win ...
