Good question from Salisbury Post reader about jobs. Please see my response to her. Karen McGee Puckett · Top Commenter · Salisbury, North Carolina The question about whether supposed "under-performing" schools inhibit companies from moving to Rowan is an important one that requires a complicated answer (or some diligent research). First, I wish a candidate (or anyone for that matter) could actually cite examples where companies chose not to locate in Rowan and explain why. My take on the issue (after discussing it with my husband after the forum) is that Fortune 500 type companies want to be in an area like Raleigh/Cary or Charlotte/Mooresville because of other factors. Are we trying to woo Fortune 500's? Are we trying to woo blue collar job providers? Do we really want to be Charlotte or Raleigh? What does Rowan County want to be? We need to decide that first.Reply · Like · Unfollow Post · 13 hours ago Greg Edds Karen, wise comments. I sat down in January to discuss this very issue with our EDC d . ...

Ok...it must be official.Rowan County is going to name the new Taj-Mahal for the school beauracrats after me. Last year when the new evaluations came out, the county found a building on our farm which had been there ten years. We have proof we turned it in when built. Needless to say it was still our fault and we had to pay a sizable amount for there error, plus it increased our tax base. One year later they return to clear up some confusion over some old, falling in structures I don't have money to fix or destroy. Now we just received our new notices. One tract of land increased in value nearly 1000%. Another tract increased about 50%. Our property was appraised in 2006 during the height of land values and this value is $500,000 LESS than the county value. Our farm was appraised in April for loan purposes. This value is $650,000 LESS than our new county tax evaluations. The county's value is more than the value of every thing we own.every cow, every piece of equipment, our personal and household ...
