Gothic music encompasses a wide range of styles and sounds. It can range from Gregorian chant and massive pipe organ sounds to modern guitar-based rock. It may include classical orchestrations, baroque strings, and mid-eastern music. It is often “ambient” (or hollow-sounding), especially in the vocals (“ethereal”). The most dance-able styles tend to be keyboard and synthesizer-based, but most early gothic music was guitar-based and was originally called Death Rock. The line between Gothic and Industrial music is not always well-defined, although Industrial tends to be more aggressive, with less themes of personal pain and more about social/political issues. Both styles depend on synthesized and digital sounds. The following represents a list of bands that are likely to come up in conversations with Goths: Pre-Goths and Proto-Goths (just for fun): Johnny Cash (the original man in black); Roy Orbison (dressed in black, sunglasses at nite, and sad ballads like “Only the Lonely,” “Runn ...

June 28th, 2013 Ask any successful band or performer how they got their start or what influenced a change in their musical direction and they're sure to credit some other band or artist. The influence musicians have on one another is openly recognized and celebrated for the innovations it inspires. No musician creates in a vacuum. Be it consciously or not, we are all part of a network of influences. A musical chain, if you will. A family tree. Take The Beatles, for instance. They were strongly influenced by Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison who, respectively, were influenced by Elvis Presley, The Clovers, Hank Williams, and Hank Ballard. Black Sabbath name Cream as an influence who give a nod to The Yardbirds who cite the music of John Lee Hooker who names Son House who acknowledges Furry Lewis, driving Sabbath's musical roots some five levels deep. Even the great Chuck Berry, who seemingly invented a whole new approach to playing the guitar, readily cites T-Bone Walker as his prime inspirat ...

Another booking just secured for a 60th Birthday party at Stratford upon Avon in September this year. This was a venue we'd played at about 2 months ago. The club steward recommended us to the client who was struggling to find suitable entertainment. She was really lucky as this date in September was the one of the few Saturday dates we have left this year! What is really interesting about this booking is that they really do want a 60's night - so its over to mainly Eric this time for some Elvis, Buddy Holly, Del Shannon, Billy Fury, Roy Orbison, Drifters, and Cliff Richard!! Kelly ones include dolly Parton, Abba, Mary Wells, The Ronettes.
Share if you agree. I am unabashedly proud American. I love my country. I love our culture. I love the language I speak. I love baseball, hot dogs, and apple pie. I think Mark Twain, Edgar Allen Poe, Carl Sandburg, Herman Melville were all amazing writers. I hear the tales about John Henry, Wild Bill Hickok and Paul Bunyan and smile. I love the sunsets over central Illinois cornfields, the rolling western Pennsylvania hills, the salty sea air of eastern Florida, the flat openness of western Iowa, the winding roads on Los Angeles, the constant sound of Manhattan. I love Roy Orbison, Bing Crosby, Bob Dylan and Joan Jett. I am American. I was born here. I live here. I may not always live here, but I will always be here. -- Anthony Trendl Author

Here's an article I wrote & published in the April 2003 'Circuit Rider'... 10 years, and things have only Worsened!! [Note: I have left it unedited as to dates and 'other' changes...] " Last September, my wife and I had a chance to see Elvis & the Superstars in a small theatre in downtown Branson, and enjoyed it so much that we took my mother and son there over Christmas. The first half of the show consisted of a very good impersonation of Elvis doing songs from different times of his career, while the second half was the same guy doing such artists as Roy Orbison, Tom Jones, and Liberace. One song put him as Neil Diamond and one of his lady assistants as Barbra Streisand together on stage doing their big duo hit ‘You Don’t Bring Me Flowers.’ They did it very well, but I really wanted to tell them that in reality, that scene had probably never happened! You see, I have a record (you remember records… about 12’’ across made out of very flat vinyl with a small hole in the center?) of Neil Diamon ...

Woolwich once had four cinemas. Today, one, the former Granada cinema (which once hosted Buddy Holly in 1958, and later Roy Orbison and The Beatles in 1963), is a bingo hall; another, the former ABC (previously Regal) is a nightclub, while the former Odeon, later Coronet, is now a Pentecostal church. The Century cinema, which faced Beresford Square, was demolished for redevelopment in the late 1960s. Who went to the cinema in Woolwich and what did you see? [Gina G]
Book review: John Kruth’s Roy Orbison biography, ‘Rhapsody in Black’ By Jen Chaney,June 19, 2013 • "Rhapsody in Black: The Life and Music of Roy Orbison" by John… (Backbeat/Backbeat ) Nearly 25 years have passed since Roy Orbisonlast prowled the Earth in one of his signature jet-black ensembles, with those trademark sunglasses perched on the bridge of his nose. The rock pioneer responsible for the lascivious growl of “Oh, Pretty Woman,” the swoony high notes of “Crying” and a personal style best described as geek-noir chic died of a heart attack in 1988, which means he’s now been gone for almost as much time as he spent recording albums. Given his catalogue of classics and the long list of significant artists he influenced — from Bono to Bruce Springsteen to Bob Dylan — he’s hardly been forgotten. But in a music landscape where trends change as fast as our Spotify playlists can shuffle, reminders of the lasting timelessness of his work are welcome. The latest reminder comes in th ...

We appreciated the girls's tips fom Wales. We had a few thoughts of our own after almost 100 miles 1. Ensure all bodily functions have been completed before setting off. 2. If you are unsure about whether white or black pudding are good for you at breakfast, eat both 3. 2-3 Guinness and a magners or two are more effective than paracetamol or ibuprofen 4. 10 Guinness at night require a lot of paracetamol the next day 5. Bacon butties are a far better source of electrolytes than cliff bars. And taste better with brown sauce 6. Diaralyte does not dissolve well in Magners anyway 7. Always travel with a full loo roll. In case of fail on rule 1 8. Stretching involves bending over. We don't bend over. We do like massage though. 9. Singing whilst walking is def a good idea. Mason is esp good with Roy Orbison, at least in his own mind 10. 22 year old Irish townie girls have no interst in 40-something year old men. I know this has nothing to do with walking but it is something else we learned and wanted to share

TRIVIA: Scotland's hard-rock group Nazareth recorded a tune called "Love Hurts" as a B-side filler, never intending it to be a hit. Record buyers felt differently and the single rose to number 8 in the US and number 15 in the UK. One count revealed that over 42 different artists have recorded the song, including The Everly Brothers and Roy Orbison. _enigma
No more sad. I don't care what you say Roy Orbison

I took out Chris Isaak's album "Mr. Lucky" this morning and have been journeying through it from front to back. Isaak always brings to mind the 50s & 60s (particularly Roy Orbison & Elvis Presley). He has that rich sound that has gradually slipped away. He is absolutely refreshing.
I don't care what anyone says...nothing wrong with having a couple Roy Orbison tunes on a 3000 song iPod. !
There are many things that make me sad about fatherhood. Autism isn’t one of them. What do you want me to do, cry? Not likely unless, of course, you’re talking about the lack of record stores in the world today. That just gets me all teary-eyed. For many audiophiles like myself, the diminishing population of brick and mortar record stores robs me of the ability to share with my son the joy of spending hours thumbing through bins of records (or cds depending on your age or preference). You start off by convincing yourself that you’ll just browse (. . . AC/DC, Aerosmith, Alice in Chains. . .), but halfway through you realize that you’re whipped into a frenzy (. . . Operation Ivy, Oasis, Roy Orbison. . .). Somewhere between Stone Temple Pilots and White Zombie, you realize that the trance you’ve slipped into is more akin to a spiritual journey than any acid fueled romp at the Pink Floyd laser light show that your dad always talks about. This, unlike acid, is something you can share with your childr ...

Happy 58th Birthday to Glenn Danzig. Having started in music in the mid-1970s, Danzig's musical career has encompassed a number of genres, including punk rock, heavy metal, industrial, blues and classical music. He has written songs for other musicians, most notably Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. His key bands as frontman/songwriter include THE MISFITS, DANZIG and SAMHAIN.
I think I'm gonna keep dying my hair black and get some big clunky glasses. I really wanna age like a cross between Roy Orbison and Liza Minnelli.
Kari Thomas Kovick, Windfall and frirends perform "The Lucky One" at Oak Grove Pavilion in Floyd, Virginia.
Had a great time last night! Wish we hadn't left early as I wanted a bop! Perhaps it's just as well though, as I can 'enjoy' myself too much.
I'm thinking Roy Orbison is just a big cry baby..
I think Roy Orbison should've been more popular than Elvis.

Back in the late 60's and early 70's, I had the fortunate opportunity to play alongside the great Bruce Chanel off and on. I even got to dance with his beautiful, classy British bride a few times. I think our keyboardist, David Poyer played the harp at the time. Bruce was a true gentleman, had a beautiful voice. We even covered some Roy Orbison. I never heard the Delbert story from Bruce. It was years later, 1979 I believe, when I worked a Willie Nelson concert where Delbert was the opening act that I saw it in Delbert's press kit. Small World!
Dad got me thinking about how things change Mostly, this is about how things were before we moved to Sterling in 1974 I was born in 1964 In 1976 I was in 6th grade I graduated High School in 1982 When I was born, 'Dancing in The Street' by Martha and the Vandellas, 'Oh, Pretty Woman' by Roy Orbison, 'She's not there' by the Zombies were on the radio. When I was in 1st grade, hits were 'Black Magic Woman' by Fleetwood Mac, 'Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head' by BJ Thomas, and 'ABC' by the Jackson Five. In 6th Grade some of the Hits were 'When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman' by Dr. Hook, 'Ballroom Blitz' by Sweet, and 'Let Your Love Flow' by the Bellamy Bros. Jive Bunny and the master mixers had their first hit. When I was a senior in High School we listened to 'Ebony and Ivory' by Stevie Wonder, 'Abracadabra' by the Steve Miller Band, and 'Don't You Want Me' by the Human League. There were not many cartoons on TV when I was a kid. Cartoons were still drawn by hand. After school I watched 'You Are Th ...

EPIC FAIL - on "making my own aloo parthas" this morning! after the excellent training from my sisters the other week, spiced potatoes looked good, everything ready, but its the atta adding stage that done me I reckon, gave up after two batches.listening to Roy Orbison while doing it did't help either! toast it is then, just not the same! Dal Singh and Sanjeev Johal ask ya gran n mum respectively - why is the mix coming out too dry or too sticky to head? should i be adding water or not (didn't write that bit down) roll on next Sunday morning, for attempt no 2 - I'll master this one day!
52 Years ago Roy Orbison had a hit with "Crying," a song he wrote with Joe Melson. In 1987, he recorded a stunning duet of the song with K.D.Lang for the soundtrack of the Jon Cryer movie Hiding Out. That recording won a Grammy for Best Country Collaboration With Vocals.
So.Is it bad that I want to open my father's day gift to my dad for myself? (keep in mind he has no internet. he can't read this. ( For the record-no pun intended) I got him a Roy Orbison album). Okay. Seriously. It's Roy Orbison. I think my dad would understand.
A Black & White Night Live is a Roy Orbison music album made posthumously by Virgin Records from the HBO television broadcast, Roy Orbison and Friends, A Black and White Night. The album was released in 1989 and included the songs "Blue Bayou" and "Claudette" that because of time constraints had been deleted from the televised broadcast. However it did not include the song "Blue Angel" which was cut from the original broadcast for the same reason. The SACD/CD Hybrid Audio Disc includes "Blue Angel" as a bonus track - the SACD/CD Hybrid Disc is contained in a pack with the DVD released by Image Entertainment, USA (ID27700BDVD) On piano was Glen D. Hardin, who had played piano for Buddy Holly as well as Elvis Presley. Lead guitarist James Burton, drummer Ronnie Tutt and bassist Jerry Scheff were also from Presley's group. Male background vocals and some guitars were provided by Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther and Steven Soles. Female background vocalists were k.d. ...
Why the Song is Called “Not Union Avenue”—A Tribute to Sun Records I’ve had enough questions about why “Not Union Avenue” is called “Not Union Avenue” that I’m going to try to make amends and explain it, because I’m the one to blame for any and all confusion on that count. Now that I’ve just today released the actual full version of the song—not the chopped-up version that I released earlier—I can at least try to explain how it came about. There’s an unassuming little building at 706 Union Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee. It’s the Sun Records studio. It unleashed Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, and Jerry Lee Lewis on the world, along with a host of rock, rockabilly and blues artists. It changed the world forever. It rocked the foundation of the culture—in all senses. It shifted consciousness. It set in motion cultural and creative shockwaves that are still echoing all over the world right now, today, half a century later. Yes: a handful of hillbillies from the Deep So ...
People say they hate country but they'll listen to Grateful Dead, Velvet Underground, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison. All of those bands/musicians are pretty obviously influenced by country music but they just do it a little different, I'm not joking about Velvet either.
Its June 13th and it’s Kitchen Klutzes of America Day, and in 1952 Hank Williams records "Jambalaya (On The Bayou)," "Settin' The Woods On Fire" and "I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive" at the Castle Studio in Nashville. It’s Sewing Machine Day, and in 1973 Dolly Parton records "I Will Always Love You" in a morning session at Nashville's RCA Studio B. She also records her own version of "Kentucky Gambler," destined to become a hit when it's recorded by Merle Haggard. It’s Weed Your Garden Day, and in 1980 The movie "Roadie" opens, with cameo appearances by Roy Orbison, Asleep At The Wheel, Merle Kilgore, Ramblin' Jack Elliott and Hank Williams Jr. The soundtrack includes Eddie Rabbitt's "Drivin' My Life Away" and Blondie's version of "Ring Of Fire" It’s Worldwide Knit (and crotchet) in Public Week, and in 1989 A week before the opening of the movie "Great Balls Of Fire," Jerry Lee Lewis receives a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. The number one country song on this date in 1987 was “Fore ...
Am I the only 24 year old whose parents raised her on: Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Peter, Paul & Mary, Simon & Garfunkel, Roy Orbison, Chad Mitchell Trio, and Phil Ochs? Does ANY other Generation Y-er know more than two of these artists or am I just real old school...
"In 1970, I rode for fifteen hours in the back of a U-haul truck to open for Roy Orbison at the Nashville Music Fair. It was a summer night and I was 20 years old, and Orbison came out in dark glasses, a dark suit and he played some dark music. In 1974, just prior to going into the studio to record my album Born To Run, I was looking at Duane Eddy for his guitar sound and I was listening to a collection of Phil Spector's records and Orbison's All-Time Greatest Hits. I'd lay in bed at night with just the lights of my stereo on and I'd hear 'Crying,' 'Love Hurts,' 'Running Scare,' 'Only the Lonely,' and 'It's Over' filling my room. Orbison's voice was unearthly." -From Bruce Springsteen's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Speech in 1987

Lenny LeBlanc (born June 17, 1951 in Leominster, Massachusetts) is an American musician and songwriter. In 1955 his family moved south to Daytona Beach, Florida. LeBlanc spent his summers on the beach surfing until he met some teens that played guitars. He later landed a job washing dishes to pay for his first bass guitar. During the next three years of school Lenny played at dances and local clubs around Daytona, developing his vocal talents as well. He graduated from high school in 1969 and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1970. He has currently resided in Florence, Alabama since 1973. Former band member and good friend Pete Carr had become a very successful producer and studio guitarist in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. He encouraged Lenny to join him there. After a few months Lenny began playing bass as well as singing background vocals with artists like Hank Williams Jr., Crystal Gayle, Etta James, Shenandoah, Ricky Skaggs, Sawyer Brown, The Supremes, Joan Baez, Amy Grant and Roy Orbison
When you reach the top of Rock 'n' Roll Mountain, right before you enter the sacred halls of musical and lyrical Nirvana, you will be met by Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Jim Morrison, and so many more. There you will hear music that will last forever.
How crazy is it that George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne were all in the same band together?
This Day in Rock... 1915 - Les Paul, the jazz musician whose name became synonymous with the electric guitar, is born in Waukesha, Wis., as Lester Poifus. 1934 – R&B star Jackie Wilson is born in Detroit. 1941 – Born on this day, Jon Lord, keyboards, Deep Purple. 1947 – Born on this day, Mitch Mitchell, drums, Jimi Hendrix Experience. 1962 – The Beatles, on the last night of their tour with Roy Orbison, performed at King George’s Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire. It was during this tour that The Beatles’ fans started throwing jelly babies at them while they were on stage, after an off-the-cuff remark on television that George Harrison enjoyed eating them. 1963 – The Beatles held the UK No.1 position on the singles chart with ‘From Me To You’. 1970 – Princeton University gives Bob Dylan an honorary doctorate in music. 1972 – Record executive John Hammond makes Bruce Springsteen his latest signing to CBS. 1972 – Elvis Presley plays the first of four concerts at New York’s Madison Squar ...

Though all Wilburys are great, in order of awesome: Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan
Why not go on a little trip to the glorious 60's this late at night? Roy Orbison's amazing ballad, Crying.
In case you’re too broke and the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is too far a drive, check out the free parking lot concert Salzer’s Records is holding Saturday in celebration of Record Store Day. This is the second year independent music retailers around the world are banding together to remind folks that they’re still around and still selling cool music, both on vinyl and CD. Headlining Salzer’s bash will be The 88 along with local favorites Franklin for Short and Army of Freshmen. Miranda Cosgrove, the teen queen from Nickelodeon’s “iCarly” series, will be on hand to sign autographs. The 88, a pop-rock band based in Los Angeles, is fronted by Keith Slettedahl, whose pipes rival those of Chris Isaak, Roy Orbison and Harry Nilsson. That’s a great thing. The 88 have placed so much of their music in movies and television, they list their appearances by network. They also have released three albums — two indies, then one on giant Island Records. Now they’re back as indie artists ...
Yes blasting out abit of Roy Orbison in the rovers returns. Right little spot that, fantastic.
"Love Hurts" was the B-Side to Roy Orbison's 1961 hit "Running Scared." Now it's a standard recorded by nearly everybody at some point or another.

Yes. This is a picture of Rick Rubin, Roy Orbison, and Glenn Danzig. Holy moly.
On this day in 1958, "The Purple People Eater" by Sheb Wooley was the song. In 1960, the Platters' lead singer Tony Williams leaves the group to embark on a solo career. Williams sang lead on Platters classics such as "Only You", "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" and "The Great Pretender", but was unable to crack the Top 40 on his own. In 1960, Roy Orbison's "Only the Lonely" was released in the US where it would go on to reach number two on the Billboard Hot 100. In the UK, it would top the chart next October. In 1960, Bing Crosby was presented with a Platinum disc to commemorate his 200 millionth record sold. The sales figures were a combined total of 2,600 recorded singles and 125 albums. Crosby's global lifetime sales on 179 labels in 28 countries totaled 400 million records. Also in 1960, the Silver Beetles and Gerry And The Pacemakers appear together at the Grosvenor Ballroom in Liscard, Wallasey, England. They are billed as "jive and rock specialists." Have you heard that song before? Hit tunes of the Baby Boomer era are being used (or overused) as advertising jingles. The tip of the pop-hit ice berg include Carly Simon's "Anticipation" for Heinz ketchup, Frank Sinatra's "My Way" for Kids' Cuisine, The Village People's "Macho Man" for Old El Paso, The Four Seasons' "Big Girls Don't Cry" for Johnson & Johnson hair detangler, The Temptations' "My Girl" for Sun Maid raisins, Roy Orbison's "Pretty Woman" for Tone Soap, The Beach Boys' "Fun, Fun, Fun" for Southwest Airlines, and Gene Chandler's "Duke of Earl" for Best Foods Dijonaisse. Burger King earns the dubious award for using more old rock tunes in TV ads than any other U.S. company to sell its hamburgers. wow! back in the day that was considered "selling out" Go figure!
The legendary Roy Orbison performs the song 'Claudette', originally recorded by the Everly Brothers, although Roy did write the song himself.

So I'm driving by the musical instrument museum and they have a big banner outside that's promoting their "hall of fame" exhibits. The names featured for the "hall of fame" exhibit include Elvis Presley, Carlos Santana, John Lennon, Roy Orbison and.Taylor Swift.
FIFTY years ago today at Town Hall, Roy Orbison and Gerry & The Pacemakers were supported by some band called The Beatles...
MUSICAL MEMORIES Just a few well-known songs from the first week of June over the years - they were Number 1 hits on the US Billboard 100 Pop charts: Pat Boone had “Love Letters in the Sand” in 1958, Roy Orbison was “Runnin' Scared” in 1961, and Ray Charles made up his mind with “I Can't Stop Loving You” in 1962. Half a century since “It's My Party” by Lesley Gore! The Dixie Cups were go-in' to the “Chap-el of Love” in 1964, Aretha Franklin earned some “Respect” in 1967, and Paul McCartney's “My Love” was Number 1 four decades ago. Wings' “Band on the Run” topped sales this week in 1974, and John Denver sang “Thank God I'm a Country Boy” in 1975. 35 years ago, Johnny Mathis and birthday girl Deniece Williams had “Too Much Too Little Too Late” and Donna Summer's “Hot Stuff” was the best-selling single this week in 1979. “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears is from 1985, 25 years have passed since “One More Try” by George Michael, and Ext ...
I don't know which is harder to believe- that Chuck Barris is 84, Ian Hunter is 74, or Suzi Quatro is 63. In any event, age is just a state of mind (and body, some mornings), so we move on. BTW, Thanks for all the nice birthday greetings. We had a nice evening at Regency Wines with Colin John, Michelle Primm, and Rosemary Passeos, among others. Great food, too. I have to say that the hour between 7 and 8 is a shining example of the great music we play on The Summit. We'll start off with The Black Keys, and make our way through Stars, Chrissie Hynde w/ UB40, Chili Peppers and Imagine Dragons,, Roy Orbison and Eric Hutchinson, Creedence, Johnny Clegg and Savuka, and Capital Cities. And that's just part of just one hour of our four hour, commercial-free music listenening party. We'll also have Tracey Thomas Shepard in our local music spotlight, to whet your appetite for her Civic Theatre Billie Holliday tribute Thursday night.
biography[-]by Richie Unterberger One of the most interesting and difficult-to-categorize singers in '60s pop, Gene Pitney had a long run of hits distinguished by his pained, one-of-a-kind melodramatic wail. Pitney is sometimes characterized (or dismissed) as a shallow teen idol-type prone to operatic ballads. It's true that some of his biggest hits -- "Town Without Pity," "Only Love Can Break a Heart," "I'm Gonna Be Strong," "It Hurts to Be in Love," and "Twenty Four Hours From Tulsa" -- are archetypes of adolescent or just-post-adolescent agony, characterized by longing and not a little self-pity. But Pitney was not just an archetype of his style -- he was one of the best at his style, and indeed one of the few (along with Roy Orbison) that could pull it off convincingly. Also (like Orbison), he had more range than he's generally given credit for, making forays into tough pop/rock, country, and even borderline rockabilly. Other than Dionne Warwick, he was the best interpreter of Bacharach-David's early ...
Day 2 complete. Long slow journey, but fun. Leg 1 was Midlothian to Abilene. We parked at Abilene Aero (I've been there before, thanks Shane!), and stayed at the Marriott Residence inn. Got up somewhat early the next morning and started on our way to Wink County, just West of Odessa, and childhood home of Roy Orbison. There, we got to meet Charlie, the Manager of the airport, and he drove us into Kermit to eat Mexican buffet, which was quite good. Talked with Charlie for several hours, and finally left wink at around 3:00. That was eventful. In order to get above the mountains between Wink and our next landing spot in El Paso, we really needed to be at 8,500 feet, which is asking a bit much of out 85hp Champ. We got up to 6,500 pretty easily, but had a difficult time climbing any higher. Once the ground came up to meet us, though, we started working some of the thermals, and at one point, got a thermal that gave us 1,500 feet per minute. That got us up to 8,500 pretty quickly. Once we were nice a ...
I loved Del's music, but his voice wasn't even close to Roy Orbison's voice. He was rumored to have been considered to take Roy's place with the Traveling Wilburys after Roy's death, but it didn't work out. He would have fit with the Wilburys well - in my opinion. Playing on the computer while listening to music. Cool having a professional DJ program on the PC. Just select your desired songs, add to play list and let it run. Today it's everything from Sinatra, Johnny Cash, The Beach Boys and BTO, Clairy Browne & The Bangin' Rackettes, Roy Orbison and some DISCO too. YAY!
A re-Englished version of this take on Roy Orbison from "Mulholland Drive":
Sitting outside under the trees listening to some good old music, Roy Orbison's remake of Crying with K.D. Lang, quite possibly the best duet ever.
Had a wonderful in Bathurst. Who realised that it is 200 years since Blaxland, Lawson and Wentworth crossed the Blue Mountains. They left Sydney in May 1813. Today there was a great display of vintage aircraft led by the Roulettes fly over the mountains, turn over O'Connell and most of them landed at Bathurst airport. We saw them from a hill outside O'Connell. Tonight was a Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison tribute concert. Really good
I've done it! Moldova is in the books as the 30th country on my World Karaoke Tour, giving me the undisputed distinction of singing karaoke in the most countries! The song that I chose was "Oh, Pretty Woman" by Roy Orbison. Next up on the tour: Peru and Panama in November!
Find some mellow music and put it on. I usually listen to Sawyer Brown or Roy Orbison.

Remembering D Kilpatrick who passed away five years ago today on May 22, 2008 at age 88. He was a music executive from the 1940s to the 1960s in Nashville. He was considered the first salaried producer based in Music City and produced sessions for Hank Thompson, Tex Ritter and Jimmie Skinner. Kilpatrick, born William David "D" Kilpatrick on July 18, 1919 in Charlotte, North Carolina, got into the record business as a salesperson for Capitol Records in his hometown. By the late 1940s, he was producing acts for the label, including James and Martha Carson. In 1956, Kilpatrick became manager of the Grand Old Opry, bringing in acts such as Porter Wagoner, the Everly Brothers and Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper. In 1958, he helped found the Country Music Association. He left the Opry in 1959 to form Acuff-Rose Artists Corp., a booking agency for Opry acts and pop stars such as Roy Orbison. He later returned to sales and promotion for Warner, Philips and Mercury Records. He eventually left the music business to run ...

The Mavericks + Declan O’Rourke – Royal Festival Hall – 19th May 2013 Oh what a thrill! This, to use the title of a signature Mavericks hit, just about summed up this dramatically varied party of a gig; the last night of The Mavericks tour, supported by Irish singer-songwriter, Delcan O’Rourke. Every word could be heard of O’Rourke’s intriguing, poetic lyrics, such as the line, “See the stars remove their hats out of respect,” from the quality love song, ‘We Didn’t Mean To Go To Sea.’ The huge range of his voice with all its timbres, contained an American jazz singer, Johnny Hartman – like depth, backed up by the driving, rhythmically accented, acoustic accompaniment of his guitar. Nine-piece, snappily dressed, Grammy award-winning country outfit, The Mavericks, were on fire. Their massively fun set included numbers penned mostly by lead singer, Raul Malo, from their latest February 2013 album, ‘In Time.’ Throughout ‘Born To Be Blue,’ serious-looking Michael Guerra’s b ...

I hope she's not off to meet the person who puts Roy Orbison in cling film. .
Roy Orbison. Never gets old. For clarification, I mean his music - he's not Peter Pan, he's dead.
iPod has randomly decided to play me a run of Roy Orbison songs. And relatively cheerful ones, too :)

maybe one by the Orb himself - Roy Orbison. Following the Preakness I would suggest "Crying".
When music meant something and had a pulse. When music wasn't bland, insipid and born out of Saturday night TV freak shows. I miss the days when I put on the radio and there was something good to listen too. Thank you so much for uploading.
