Lucroy, Peralta help Brewers beat Mets 3-1 ... Wily Peralta pitched into the seventh inning and Jonathan Lucroy had three hits to send the Milwaukee Brewers past the slumping Mets 3-1 Wednesday night. Immediately after the game, Peralta headed home to the Dominican Republic to take care of some "family business," manager Ron Roenicke said. The pitcher will rejoin the team in Milwaukee this weekend. Roenicke said the plan has been in place for a while. The Brewers didn't want to reveal specifics, but it sounded as though Peralta was dealing with something serious. "Pretty tough. I don't know how he did it, but he did it. Pretty amazing, considering," Lucroy said. "I don't think I could do that with stuff like that on my mind." Lucroy doubled twice and drove in a run, raising his batting average to .341. Carlos Gomez and Jean Segura each had an RBI as the NL Central leaders wore down Jacob deGrom (0-3), still looking for his win after six mostly solid starts. The shaggy-haired rookie was lifted in the sixth ...
MIL 1 4 1 PIT 0 5 0 PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Yovani Gallardo was pitching so well he just needed one run to get a win. His catcher got him all the support he needed, with some help from an eager fan. Gallardo pitched seven crisp innings, Jonathan Lucroy doubled and scored on Aramis Ramirez's groundout, and the Milwaukee Brewers beat thePittsburgh Pirates 1-0 on Sunday. ''Yo was outstanding,'' Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. ''Just hung in there and made some great pitches, got better as the game went on.'' Gallardo (4-4) had a season-high eight strikeouts in his second win in his last three starts. He allowed four hits and walked one. The Pirates had at least one baserunner in five of Gallardo's seven innings, but the right-hander got sharper as the game progressed. ''I was able to get out of some big situations and make pitches,'' Gallardo said. ''That's always something positive to go from.'' Jeff Locke also pitched seven solid innings in a spot start for the Pirates. Locke was recalled from Triple ...

The Dodgers would like to wish a very happy 86th birthday to the one and only Tommy Lasorda. Lasorda is in his 64th year with the Dodgers. The Hall of Famer is one of only five managers in the history of baseball to pilot the same team for 20 seasons (1977-96) or more (Walter Alston, Connie Mack, John McGraw and Bobby Cox) and while managing, Lasorda mentored 16 players who went on to manage in the Major Leagues (Bobby Valentine, Mike Scioscia, Dusty Baker, Davey Lopes, Tony LaRussa, Ron Roenicke, Glenn Hoffman, Bill Russell, Juan Samuel, Tim Johnson, Johnny Oates, Kirk Gibson, Jerry Royster, Willie Randolph, Phil Garner, and Ron Washington). * Tommy shares his birthday with the legendary “Sweet” Lou Johnson, who turns 79 today. Johnson, in his 32nd season as a member of the Dodgers’ community affairs department, will be forever remembered for his home run in Game 7 of the 1965 World Series that led off the fourth inning and gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.

Power pitchers populate Brewers camp PHOENIX -- Ryan Braun has taken note at the number of big arms in Brewers uniforms these days. The organization's focus on large-framed power pitchers was evident in the team's Cactus League opener against the A's, when John Axford, Jim Henderson, Santo Manzanillo and Michael Olmsted all pitched in relief. Still waiting to debut was right-hander Johnny Hellweg, the 100-mph arm acquired in last year's trade for Zack Greinke. "All of a sudden we've got some guys," Braun said. "There's more velocity now than my first year in camp, no doubt about it," third-year manager Ron Roenicke said. "Sometimes it shifts on purpose, and sometimes it's what's... ~SportsMan
Crosby still in the mix as he attempts comeback (Milwaukee Brewers) (Source: Milwaukee Brewers) PHOENIX -- The Brewers look set at shortstop, but comeback candidate Bobby Crosby still has a chance to win an Opening Day roster spot, manager Ron Roenicke said. Crosby, the 2004 American League Rookie of the Year, signed a Minor League deal with the Brewers on Jan. 22, when the Brewers were still seeking a backup to 23-year-old shortstop Jean Segura. But a week later, the team re-signed Alex Gonzalez, last year's Opening Day starter, who, barring an issue with his surgically-repaired right knee, is this year's presumptive backup. With Gonzalez in the fold, Crosby will play all around the infield this spring and compete for a job as a utility man. ~SportsMan

7-0 in the 5th, Yovani Gallardo still out there. Shouldn't have pooped on Ron Roenicke's carpet, Yovani
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. So Ron Roenicke, what did you expect with "K-Rod" trying to close the game again and what did you expect trying a "safety" squeeze, again, after failing on the past 5 tries? Just curious...
My daily Brewer rant. Good going Ron Roenicke and pitching "coach" Rick Kranitz. You continue to watch your "relievers" implode and you continue to sit in the dugout and hope for the best. A mentor, coach, manager or leader would visit the mound but you clowns sit there and do whatever it is you do. Mark Anatassio has opened the wallet, Doug Melvin has gotten the talent and you two are the problem. This team is a direct reflection of your pathetic leadership.
Fire Ron Roenicke, trade half the team and lets start over. At least that would be something I could get behind, because watching Ron bunt this team to loss after loss is fkilling me. Oh and the bullpen actually pitched well today with the exception of K Rod's ***
Ron Roenicke should come to the EAA air show.. Maybe he can get some advice from stunt pilots on how to get out of a nose dive.
I just can't understand Ron Roenicke. Why would you take out Greinke when he was at the 87 pitch mark and then go to your bullpen of losers. I'm sorry but I blame Roenicke for the last 2 losses. I heard there is talk of Doug Melvin wanting to sign Greinke even though he is going to be a free agent. He is by far the best pitcher the Brewers have if not the best right now in baseball while their bullpen is probably the worst. The wildest pitcher in all of baseball is K-Rod. Yet Roenicke states he is still their closer although Axford is looking better now. Let's face it, if the Brewers would have tied the game in the 9th, I am sure Roenicke would have put K-Rod in and let the Brewers lose anyhow. You should just stay with what works. I don't know how many times that Greinke, Gallardo, or any other starter is doing fantastic and Roenicke makes the call to the bullpen and blows a chance for a win. He is a *** poor manager if you ask me.
Dear Ron Roenicke, I just watched your post game press conference and I am now thoroughly convinced you don't have a clue. Your first comment was "we played a great game today". I guess I was watching a different game. I am pretty sure Greinke will go to bed tonight and pray for a trade. Not sure why a major league pitcher who has had 10 days of rest can't pitch more than 7 innings or throw more than 87 pitches. Then your final comment that Hernandez throws strikes maybe we will start using him...your a genius, a pitcher that throws strikes.
Just want to thank Brewers manager Ron Roenicke for taking out Zack Grinke tonight and letting us come back and win tonight's game.
Ron Roenicke has to be nominated as the NL Boneheaded Manager of the Year - Grienke is pitching a gem through 7 innings & gets taken out & then the pen gives up 6 runs in the 8th and get beat 7-6 - am I missing something here???
Aaron Wagner so is Ron Roenicke on his way out?
Brewers lose tonight 7-6 as Phillies put up 6 runs in 8th. Hear from Ron Roenicke after the game on Brewers Live
Ron Roenicke needs to be fired. Why the *** did he pull Wolff last night and Greinke again tonight? LET THEM PITCH YOU ***
I am officially done with the brewers. The bullpen continues to blow each and every game, and for some fukn reason, everyone still has their job. Today however, the blame rests soloey on Ron Roenicke. He took Greinke out of the best game he's had ALL YEAR after the 7th and a 6 to 1 lead, AND after he'd thrown only 87 pitches. I don't understand it, it's like Roenicke wants to lose. That still doesn't compare to the fact that EVERY SINGLE PITCHER in that bullpen SUX. Not a one of them is even close to worth the money they're getting paid. If the Brewers are just gonna keep giving up everyday, they might as well let some of the triple A players a chance to play. They would atleast be giving it their all. Pitiful...and SO disappointing to watch.
Dear Mark A, owner of the Brewers, please fire Ron Roenicke, the pitching coach, hitting coach and the entire bullpen. Thank youn your fans.
I think Ron Roenicke ( Brewers Manager?) needs replacing. One does not have to wait 'till he's knee deep in cow dung before he realizes the barn needs cleaning.
What is Ron Roenicke's obsession with Manny Parra? I can't take anymore of the Brewers bullpen. I can't take anymore K-Rod either (5 blown saves in 8 attempts). This team has enough talent to at least be .500, and I start the blame with Roenicke and his poor pitcher management. Why was Greinke taken out? And as I type another lead has been blown by the bullpen. Thank God that the NFL training camps are opening. Maybe Ron Wolf can come out of retirement and straighten out the Brewers?
Ron Roenicke should be fired immediately! What a complete and utter moron he is!
