The Semifinals are ready! In the Men's Singles, Rafael Nadal & Roger Federer will once again bring their cherished rivalry to Melbourne. Meanwhile, the other Swiss, and Roger's BFF, Stanislas Wawrinka will do battle with Czech wearing H&M, Tomas Berdych. (I really needed to say that lol) In the Women's Singles, Agnieszka Radwanska, the clever Pole who took out 2-time Australian Open Champ Vika Azarenka, will play Dominika Cibulkova, while two-time Runner-Up, Li Na will take on Canadian teenager Eugenie Bouchard. These are all matches you don't wanna miss! Coverage begins tonight @ 7:00pm EST on Tennis Channel and will move to ESPN2 @ 9:00pm EST. You can also catch the action on WatchESPN.com, and the WatchESPN Mobile App on your iOS and Android.
FYI: Live on Tennis Channel is Maria Sharapova and then Roger Federer to follow. That's a pretty good Friday night if you ask me! Enjoy!
And away I go...Wimbledon coverage begins tomorrow on ESPN2, Espn Inet, ESPN3, ESPN and the Watch ESPN App, as well as on Tennis Channel. Serena enters on a career best 31-match win streak and is defending champion, while Roger Federer celebrates the 10th anniversary of winning his first of 7 Wimbledon titles! It'll be on early Monday morning!
Just to reinforce my criticism of the (Men's) Tennis Channel right now in Rome following a live televised match bt. Rafa Nadal & David Ferrer & before a live televised match bt. Roger Federer & Jerzy Janowicz, there is a live non-televised women's match bt. Samantha Stosur & Victoria Azarenka. What is the (Men's) Tennis Channel showing you ask? A recorded tour of Rome. Sexism re-born on the TC. More on this later.
Tomas Berdych told The Tennis Channel he wanted Roger Federer to beat Rafa Nadal in the quarters - you can see why. Nadal looking strong
I gave myself a present last week. It costs $5.95 a month. I added the Tennis Channel (plus several other sports channels) to my cable service!! Watched my man Roger Federer unsuccessfully try to defend his 8 years of titles at the Swiss Open. He was bested by another of my favorites Juan Martin Del Potro from Argentina. Ah, tennis.
I should be asleep, and would be, except I stayed up to see if Roger Federer's play at Shanghai in China would be shown on the tennis channel. It was. For a short time I could watch and then my cable for both tennis channel and the HD version stopped broadcasting "this channel will be available shortly". I had to call and complain. The poor woman at charter was very nice, promised to put a credit on my account and will send someone out on Saturday. I admitted that this issue is not life changing, but that it is a premium service that I pay for. I am sure she hung up and thought "this woman is nuts". ) For those of you that remember, she had a voice like Flo, the night phleb some years ago--I think that helped me like her.
