Rodney Allen Erickson (born 1946) is the 17th and current president of Pennsylvania State University. Formerly executive vice president and provost (chief academic officer), he was named interim president of Penn State on November 9, 2011, after previous president Graham Spanier was forced to resign in the wake of the Penn State sex abuse scandal.

WCHE NEWS - Governor Tom Corbett announced this morning that he is suing the NCAA, calling its sanctions against Penn State University arbitrary and illegal, saying they would result in significant economic damage to the university, the commonwealth and its citizens. The governor asked the court to throw out all of the sanctions, including the $60 million fine, and asked that the court declare the consent agreement illegal. The lawsuit, which is expected to be filed today in U.S. District Court in Harrisburg, also accuses the NCAA of forcing Penn State President Rodney Erickson into silent compliance with its sanctions by threatening to impose even more debilitating sanctions to the football program. The sanctions were issued after former Penn State football Coach Jerry Sandusky was arrested for molestling multiple children. Sandusky is now serving a prison sentence for the crimes.
