Something to consider; if a normal couple buys a house at age 30, and carries a mortgage until they are 55, and averages paying 400/mo in interest. They will have spent about 125000 in interest. If they woukd have invested 400/ mo instead, they woukd have on average about. Let's say 30 instead at age 55. So, I know in my case, I spend money unneeded on clothes, going out, cable, vacation, late fees, interest etc. These are fun, but they will ultimately cost me, let's say 300k extra (assuming that I could pay off my house by age 30 if I didn't spend unnecessarily until the house is paid). As an example, the movie ticket is eight dollars right now, but in opportunity cost and interest spent, it could cost me closer to 50 dollars. So, my spending on these fun things are going to cost me 4/5 times as much long term. This bothers me.
