Rising West was an American progressive heavy metal side project that was briefly active in 2012, but played an important role in the 2012 Queensrÿche split. Todd La Torre is an American singer and drummer. He is currently lead singer of heavy metal band Crimson Glory and Queensrÿche. /5

Exclusive Interview: Scott Rockenfield from Queensryche breakthrough albums like Operation: Mindcrime and Empire earning the Seattle quintet platinum albums which placed them on regular rotation on MTV and rock radio the band was everywhere. You couldn’t escape them. Throughout the years the line-up has changed. After going through a couple of guitarists to replace founding member Chris Degarmo, the band have settled on Parker Lundgren. Until the summer of 2012 the line-up consisted of singer Geoff Tate, guitarists Michael Wilton, Lundgren, bassist Eddie Jackson and drummer Scott Rockenfield. There has been a shake-up within as Geoff Tate was asked to exit the band due to ‘creative differences.’ Queensryche played a pair of shows in June as Rising West with Crimson Glory singer Todd La Torre. The gigs were a smash and sold out both nights. This was just a taste of what was to come as La Torre took over on vocals when Tate exited. Dammnit. Now we have two Queensryche lineups to deal with. One fronted by Geoff Tate, and another fronted by Todd La Torre (Crimson Glory). Have to say that the "Rising West" youtube videos floating around have Todd nailing Geoff's older stuff.. he can hit the high notes where Tate has been struggling as of late. However, I am excited to see Geoff's lineup as well.

Music News Update: Queensryche cancels tour and names new singer After recent rumblings of tension and rumored incidents, veteran rockers Queensryche have parted ways with singer Geoff Tate. They’ve announced that Crimson Glory’s Todd La Torre is their new singer and have put their current tour dates on hold while they work on revised routing. Queensryche drummer and band founder Scott Rockenfield explains the split. “Over the past few months, there have been growing creative differences within Queensryche. We want our fans to know that we hoped to find a common resolution, but in the end parting ways with Geoff was the best way for everyone to move forward in a positive direction. QUEENSRYCHE MEMBERS START NEW BAND Four members of Queensryche have started a new band called Rising West. It's basically Queensryche without frontman Geoff Tate. The singer is Todd La Torre of Crimson Glory. The band will perform songs from the first five 'Ryche albums, and will record their debut album in the early summer.
