Paul McCartney, a two-time member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is now also enshrined in America's Pop Music Hall of Fame. The online organization -- which hopes to build a bricks-and-mortar museum in the Pittsburgh suburb of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania -- also recognized the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Glen Campbell, Tom Jones, Paul Anka, The Everly Brothers, Andy Williams, The Four Seasons, The Righteous Brothers, Chubby Checker and Ricky Nelson. In order to be eligible for induction, nominees must have cracked the charts prior to 1971. Like the Rock Hall, this is McCartney's second induction into the Pop Music Hall of Fame, having gone in as a member of The Beatles in the organization's inaugural Class of 2013. Previous inductees include Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Simon & Garfunkel, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Elton John, The Bee Gees, Carole King and The Monkees. ~Nanci

The Beatles 50 years ago today: August 19, 1964 (Wednesday) Cow Palace, Geneva Ave. San Francisco, CA USA The first of 25 dates in the "The Beatle's First American Tour". All 17,130 seats for this concert were SOLD, gate receipts totalling $91,670. The Beatles gross share of this was $47,600.

Q: Did Elvis have some favorite artists or entertainers that he loved? And was he ever intimidated by any artists? A: Elvis loved to entertain and loved being entertained. He felt there was room for everyone. Anytime we were in Vegas we would go to the main showrooms and all the lounge acts that we could catch. Tom Jones, Barbra Streisand, Righteous Brothers, Nancy Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ann Margaret, Fats Domino, Sammy Davis Jr., and so many more. Whoever was in Vegas, he was the first one to sit, watch, and cheer them on. And when one of the guys would tell him who was appearing, they would ask if he wanted them to send flowers to the women. He'd say yes go ahead. He was such a gentleman and a true professional.

It's all a bit blue-eyed soul, like the Righteous Brothers.
Just got back a little while ago from Palm Springs. Went to see the Fabulous Follies. It was fantastic. Darlene Love from the 60's group The Blossoms was the Guest Star. She sang Da Dooo Ron Ron, He's a Rebel, and other songs that she made famous. The Showgirls were just beautiful. It was just like we were on Broadway. Most of the cast had been on Broadway sometime or another, in their career. In the audience, about 5 rows back from me, there sits Bill Medley from the Righteous Brothers. He came to see the show, also. Too bad the show and the theater is closing at the end of the month after a 23 year run. Really enjoyed it!!! It was also nice to get away from the 3 day high winds, we had here. Beautiful weather in Palm Springs. Our winds are supposed to be done, now.

P.J. Proby - I CAN'T MAKE IT ALONE (Liberty 55915) - September 1966 The song that was originally intended as the follow-up single to the Righteous Brothers mega hit, 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'. In fact, over three days at Hollywood's Gold Star Studios, Phil Spector produced an unfinished backing track arranged by Jack Nitzsche but shelved the project and chose 'Just Once In My Life', another Gerry Goffin & Carole King composition for the follow-up instead. Over a year and a half later, Nitzsche produced and arranged his own version of 'I Can't Make It Alone' with P.J. Proby, no doubt using the original template as heard in the attached video.
Did you know Cher started off as a backup singer for Phil Spector? She sings backup on The Ronnettes' "Be My Baby," Righteous Brothers' "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling," and the Crystals' "Da Do Ron Ron," among other hits from the era.
I normally listen to audio books on long car drives but yesterday I changed to golden oldies from my youth. CD's included the Everly Brothers, Righteous Brothers, Beatles, and Simon and Garfunkel. I mixed it up with Manhattan Transfer and the Dave Mathews Band. I realize these groups are revealing my age, but my wrinkles and graying hair already do that. The 831 mile/14 hour drive from Boerne to Colorado Springs was much better because of the music. Thank goodness for speed control because my feet were a-tapping. I always marvel what a lasting impact that the music from our youth has on us, even years later.
I wish people would appreciate slower music. A bit of Otis Reading here or Righteous Brothers there never did anyone any harm.

The legendary Darlene Love, seen here with Phil Spector, sang back-up for practically every important pop singer in the business. Spector put her (and Cher) behind the Ronettes, the Crystals, and the Righteous Brothers. Darlene even sang lead on a couple of Crystals hits, including "He's a Rebel." Later she acted in the "Lethal Weapon" films and she appears as herself in the recent Oscar-nominated "20 Feet From Stardom."

During their brief lifespan, the Box Tops earned a reputation as one of the best blue-eyed soul groups of the '60s, even if their recorded legacy wasn't as large or consistent as, say, the Righteous Brothers or the Rascals. Today they're remembered not only for their smashes "The Letter" and "Cry Like a Baby," but as the launching pad for singer Alex Chilton, who went on to become one of rock's most revered cult figures thanks to his groundbreaking power pop unit Big Star. In his teenage years, Chilton was an amazingly gritty Memphis soul belter akin to an American version of the Spencer Davis Group's Stevie Winwood. The Box Tops' music also encompassed touches of pop and psychedelia, although the group's own lack of control over it eventually led to their split-up. The Box Tops began life as the Devilles, a white R&B group featuring guitarists Gary Talley and John Evans, bassist Bill Cunningham, and drummer Danny Smythe. After the band's local popularity blossomed, teenage singer Alex Chilton joined up, ...
We are excited to announce a new addition to the HorrorHound Weekend Composing Horrors "reunion" – that of musician Don Peake! Don Peake has a long and storied history in the music industry – having played on such recordings as "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" by the Righteous Brothers and "River Deep, Mountain High" by Ike and Tina Turner. Don was the lead guitarist on the Jackson Five hit songs "ABC" and "I Want You Back" – while also playing with such musicians as John Lennon, the Commodores, Jan and Dean, the Mamas and the Papas, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, the Temptations, the Beach Boys, Billy Preston, Diana Ross, Sonny and Cher – and so many more. Don Peake's contributions to the world of horror cinema may not be as vast as his composer comrades - but they are just as impactful. In 1977 Donald produced the music for Wes Craven's cult classic – the Hills Have Eyes, while in 1991 he teamed up with Wes once again for the release of The People Under the Stairs. Don also produced scores for ...

Her is the best nickname I've heard of Rob and Doug Ford: The "Self"-Righteous Brothers.
On New Year's Eve in 1955: Les Baxter's "Unchained Melody", the hit theme from the movie 'Unchained', was voted Billboard's top-selling single of the year, with no less than four hit versions (the Righteous Brothers' hit rendition was still nearly a decade away...)
I liked a video Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody
Imagine the tears in the recording studio the first time the Righteous Brothers laid down "Unchained Melody" (x
Artist Biography by Richie Unterberger They weren't brothers, but Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield (both born in 1940) were most definitely righteous, defining (and perhaps even inspiring) the term "blue-eyed soul" in the mid-'60s. The white Southern California duo were an established journeyman doo *** R&B act before an association with Phil Spector produced one of the most memorable hits of the 1960s, "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'." The collaboration soon fell apart, though, and while the singers had some other excellent hit singles in a similar style, they proved unable to sustain their momentum after just a year or two at the top. When Medley and Hatfield combined forces in 1962, they emerged from regional groups the Paramours and the Variations; in fact, they kept the Paramours billing for their first single. By 1963, they were calling themselves the Righteous Brothers, Medley taking the low parts with his smoky baritone, Hatfield taking the higher tenor and falsetto lines. For the next couple of ye ...
"You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" by the Righteous Brothers, produced and co-written by Phil Spector. Played from the 45 RPM single record on a Sony PS-LX250H automatic turntable using its built-in pre-amp.
it was only last week that I realised Bill Medley was one of the Righteous Brothers! Mind blown.

I spent one night in jail, and that was enough to cure me for a lifetime! 4. Bill Medley of the "Righteous Brothers" kissed me on my cheek, and posed with me for a picture. 5. I was almost born in a toilet, and I was my mom's biggest baby 8lbs 14 oz's. 6. My biggest baby was 91/2 lbs. 7.I have a hole in the muscle of my right arm, that I have gotten people to believe is a bullet hole. 8.I had a very scary encounter with a ghost. 9. I was once a victim of an attempted armed robbery. 10. The fireman were called to my house to put out a fire that I had started. The Legendary Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers will be gracing the Canberra Theatre stage in March 2014!
Went to the concert Sat night. Could not find my hotel so had to stop at a Burger King to change. Asked them where the theater was no speaka the English. Lucky my GPS knew that and it was around the block. Hampton Inn fails to tell you you cannot put in the correct address for the hotel. Makes perfect sense. Jericho did not seem like the nicest place, Westbury looked okay. Anyway the show was good. Bill is 73, has a raspy voice. Song a few of the old Righteous Brothers songs. He had his daughter come on stage, Miranda. She sang alright. Jay came on and if you do not look at him sings great. I could not believe how much he has aged. I saw him last about two years ago.He will be 75 on Nove 2nd, he has lost a lot of weight and does not look well. He can still hit those high notes though. He forgot some words but his band picked it up and kept it going. He had his son Justin with him, he works as a stock broker. I did not know Jay lives in Long Island. I guess that is why he mostly does NY shows now. All in a ...
Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers turns 73 today. He hasn't lost that lovin' feeling, he just can't remember where he left it.

Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield formed the Righteous Brothers duo in LA in '63 and that was their first single
I feel like the Righteous Brothers and the Everly Brothers were in competition back in the day..
Yo the Righteous Brothers tried to put out their own version of You've Lost That Loving Feeling like Phil Spector wasn't what made it great.
I didn't know Bill Medley was one of the Righteous Brothers! You learn something new every day!
The Blossoms - Soul and Inspiration Great cover of the Righteous Brothers tune produced by Bill Medley
"I looked at the Branson Mo. deal but it's all old people and their parents" - Bill Medley / Righteous Brothers
For those who may like to know that I posted some videos of the Righteous Brothers and Buddy Holly last night. If anyone is interested or like to hear the singers. Remember, Buddy Holly and 2 others died in a plane crash back in 1959. I bet no ones know who were the 2 other singers that perish in the plane crash as well.
Romantic songs - What are your favourites? I've always love Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers but now love the version by Harrison Craig, Winner of The Voice 2013. I'd love to hear your opinions, as I want to have the best selection for the Brides and Grooms to hear when walking into their honeymoon cottage after their wedding. Aw!!
My "Flight of the Concords" Pandora station just followed a Daniel Tosh stand-up routine with the Righteous Brothers' "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'"
Watched 20 feet From Stardom with David which explores the World of Backup Singers at the Landmark theater in WLA. Nice theater. Too bad, Merry Clayton did not became the superstar she deserved to be. What a voice. They showed The Stones singing Gimme Shelter with Lisa Fischer, their current back up singer since 1989, and Merry Clayton, who originally sang the backup part. They showed crazy Phil Spector also, and how he pretty much ripped off Darlene Love after her contract expired with him. I loved her song “Today I Met The Boy I am gonna Marry” and “Da Doo Ron Ron” and “Then He Kissed Me” with the Crystals. I have The Phil Spector collection with songs from The Crystals, Ronettes, Righteous Brothers, Darlene Love, and Bob B. Soxx and The Blue Jeans). Pretty good album.
Most played song in radio history? Righteous Brothers' 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling', produced by Phil Spector with Cher as one of the back-up singers. Over 8 million airplays estimated.
Yesterday I bought some classic 45s among them: "The Great Pretender" by The Platters, "This Magic Moment" by Jay & The Americans, "Walking To New Orleans" by Fats Domino, "Groovy Kind Of Love" The Mindbenders, super sappy death song "Leader of the Pack" The Shangri-Las, "Big Girls Don't Cry" The Four Seasons, "Chapel of Love" The Dixie Cups, "Ünchained Melody"Righteous Brothers, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" The Tokens, "Luckenbach Texas" Waylon Jennings and the greatest doo *** song ever "Blue Moon"by The Marcels! so much better than "we're not broken we're just bent" etc.
Just found out that my Nonna and Papa's song is Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers. That's the sweetest thing.
Driving up to Mt. Airy, my wife pops in the Best of the Righteous Brothers. Wow, put aside musical preferences and listen to, Unchained Melody. Goosebumps and all. Most certainly a Phil Spector production.
Alan O'Day, who crafted popular songs for artists like the Righteous Brothers and Helen Reddy before scoring a No. 1 of his own with the bouncy 1977 hit "Undercover Angel," lost his battle with cancer on Friday, his record label announced. He was 72. The songwriter, producer and artist died at his h...
Alan O'day: Alan’s love for music started young when he began composing melodies on a xylophone at the age of six. Predominately a keyboard player, Alan was an awesome harmonica player and also loved the Ukulele. In high school Alan was in several bands with friends “The Shoves,” “The Imperials” and “The Rene’s.” In 1971 O’Day signed with Warner Brothers Music. Alan’s song writing talents lead him to work with some of the greatest names in the music and entertainment industries. He wrote “Train of Thought” recorded by Cher, “Rock and Roll Heaven” recorded by the Righteous Brothers, and “Angie Baby” recorded by Helen Reddy, which went to in 1974. In 1977 Alan took the opportunity presented by Warner Brother Records to record and release a solo effort on the Pacific label titled “Undercover Angel” Produced by Steve Barri and Michael Omartian which also became a hit. Alan’s career has also brought him international fame with "Skinny Girls" which reached on the Austr ...
I want a man to serenade me to the Righteous Brothers song "That loving feeling". Is that too much to ask? Lol
Last night Suzie and I were watching a movie and the sound track had songs by three different people who had at one time been in my back up band. I started thinking about it and realized that my back up band over the years has included members of Traffic, Eric Clapton's band, Stevie Ray Vaughn's band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, The Allman Brothers, Jefferson Airplane and Starship, Edgar Winter Group, Captain Beefheart, Blue Cheer, Sly & The Family Stone, Michael Jackson, Righteous Brothers, and a handful of others. Although I'm really greatful to have had the opportunity to play with these guys I'm beginning to feel a little bit like Ronnie Hawkins. Its like "Who the *** is Chris Berry?" My first album had a couple of songs that were slated to be recorded by Bonnie Raitt, (My manager was her music publisher) but I got bumped in favor of Kevin & Bonnie Hayes, (who are fantastic songwriters by the way). I'm like that guy who's always hanging around the peripheral that nobody knows and who can't seem to cat ...

Rock Calendar 4-18-66: Celtics' Bill Russell becomes first black head coach in the NBA. No.1 Song: Soul And Inspiration- Righteous Brothers
'Unchained Melody' by the Righteous Brothers is one of my all time favorite songs. Ever.
The Righteous Brothers sound like a deliberate future musical anachronism plopped right into the middle of 1964.
The Righteous Brothers' "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" sounds SO unlike anything before or closely after it, it's startling.
Unchained Melody the Righteous brothers from the ghost film
I don't know, The Righteous Brothers did a pretty good job of covering it.
One of my favorite Righteous Brothers cuts.
I say unto you, Soul and Inspiration is the best Righteous Brothers song. Get outta here with your Unchained Melody and Lovin' Feelin'. Bah!
Getting emotional at 10:30am in Dunkin Donuts over a Righteous Brothers song. Hi, I'm Sarah Mann.
I liked a video Righteous Brothers - (You're My) Soul & Inspiration (1966)
With today's US budget news would the Righteous Brothers have a hit with a song called "Unchained CPI" or "Chained CPI"?
"Take righteous brothers as friends..."
Righteous Brothers- Unchained Melody will always be one of the most beautiful songs
