Blade Runner 2 Officially Looking To Bring Back Harrison Ford Alcon put out a press release today (via Coming Soon) claiming an offer is out for Ford to return for the untitled Blade Runner 2, returning as his character Rick Deckard. The script has been written by the screenwriter from the original film, Hampton Fancher, with an assist from Michael Green (Green Lantern). It seems unclear as to whether Ridley Scott will direct, but he's got a busy dance card: he's just signed on to direct The Martian and has another unrevealed film slated for 2016. It sounds a lot like Alcon is eager to move on without him. The question is, will Ford accept a part in Blade Runner 2?

Wow, what an exciting time to be a movie fan, right? Star Wars Episode VII has just begun principal photography, Ben Affleck is looking pretty *** spectacular in his Frank Miller inspired Batsuit, and word is that Harrison Ford has been offered the chance to reprise his Rick Deckard role from 1982's Blade Runner. OK, that last one caught me by surprise! I knew that Blade Runner 2 was coming and I knew that Ford was at least interested in Cameo-ing which would have been cool...but presumably STARING in the sequel??? Uhm.How would that work, exactly? I guess it all depends on which side of the ol' "Is he a replicant or not?" debate you stand on.
Could I get some advise? Blade Runner as Role would appear to be a mix of Solo and Cop (leaning more toward Cop). The OBVIOUS example is Rick Deckard. How would you write up the Blade Runner Role and how would you stat the gun he used?

Stars such as Daniel Day Lewis, Jennifer Lawrence, and Christoph Waltz have been nothing but deserving of this great achievement. However, there are a few great actors who have not been granted this experience and who they are may surprise you... 7. Harrison Ford This veteran has still yet to receive an Oscar despite being in the industry for over six decades and appearing in almost eighty films. My mini-review of Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner" I've seen Blade Runner a good number of times, specifically Ridley Scott's Final Cut, but with the viewing I just had, it has instantly launched into being one of my all-time favourites. Every little detail is done to absolute brilliance and from both a writing and visual standpoint, it's definitely Scott's greatest achievement. Blade Runner takes the familiar tropes of film noir detective stories and applies them to a down-trodden futuristic Los Angeles, which seems constantly in a downpour. Harrison Ford's Rick Deckard is a multi-layered protagonist, in his own little world and not one prone to emotion, unless revolving around the Replicant he falls for. Ford is brilliant in the part and helps in making the character both three-dimensional and ambiguous. Scott and the screenwriters Hampton Fancher and David Webb Peoples are also smart to make the Replicants oddly sympathetic. Created by man, but treated like "robots", Roy and Pris are not bad Replicants de ...

It's interesting how some actors become geek icons from playing more than one role. Harrison Ford has done it three times by playing Han Solo, Rick Deckard and Indiana Jones. In more recent times, Robert Downey, Jr. has played both Sherlock Holmes and Tony Stark, while Ian McKellan played Magneto and Gandalf. I can't think of a recent female example off hand, though Patricia Neal played Dominique Francon in "The Fountainhead" and Helen Benson in "The Day the Earth Stood Still."

A friend of mine has a T-shirt that looks like it has an image of a Bushmaster Assault Rifle on it, but when you get close, it's just a mosaic, all made of tools. Construction tools, kitchen tools, pens and pencils. I assume this is a play on the "a gun is just a tool, like any other tool" idea. Well, not so much. You can't walk into a school and kill twenty children with a kitchen funnel, and besides, a tool IS what it was designed to do, and assault rifles were designed to kill, people, quickly and efficiently.

In working on an article, I've revisited some entries to other countdowns that I wrote and weren't used. Among them, I think this one may be my favorite. It's an excised entry from our Worst X-Men countdown. Longshot is like what if Joe Elliott from Def Leppard had played Rick Deckard in Blade Runner. A creation of Mojo, a giant pile of man-boobs and broken coffeemakers from a dimension where television ratings equal political power, Longshot escaped the confines of the dystopian Mojoworld to come to Earth and make everyone remember why it sucked to be alive in the 1980's. Like the Fonz on acid, Longshot has the power to be really lucky all the time, and to wear as much leather as his frame will hold. Longshot is a popped-collar on the neck of the X-Men, forever inviting them to ride around in his mini-truck and go huck knives at fence posts. Like an older brother who dropped out of college and stayed at home, who you once looked up to but now can't stand, Longshot still hangs out with X-Factor, and ...

Blade Runner (1982) Director - Ridley Scott As ex-Blade Runner Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) attempts to "retire" the replicant known as Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer), he finds himself in a precarious position. The battle worn replicant shows mercy on Deckard rescuing him from the edge of the building - only to deactivate himself shortly after giving a moving monologue. As he reminisces about his past he says, "All those moments will be lost in time...," but then Hauer adds the unscripted and philosophical phrase "...like tears in the rain."

Best reason to assume Harrison Ford is correct, that Rick Deckard is a human: Deckard gets his trash kicked by every Replicant he comes across, save Rachel.
