Justin Thomas prevails over Richard Sterne in playoff at Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship:
Richard Sterne 0-for-2 in Columbus. Didn't win a point in 2013 Pres. Cup at Muirfield Village, now loses playoff.
On first playoff hole, the 18th, Justin Thomas skips a wedge to 3 feet. Richard Sterne has 30 footer.
Playoff at Finals event in Columbus, Ohio. Richard Sterne vs. Justin Thomas at OSU Scarlet. Tied at -6.
Well, we've got a playoff at Richard Sterne and Justin Thomas tied at -6 after four rounds.
Richard Sterne of South Africa has bogeyed 15-16-17 to lose 3-stroke lead in Tied with Justin Thomas, who is in a -6.
Bills are safely in with a victory, but the same can't be said yet for Richard Sterne. Bogeys on 15+16 have shrunk his lead over Thomas to 1
Richard Sterne leads by 3 with 4 to play. Bills lead Miami by 16 in 4th. Both seem safe ... but it's the Scarlet Course, and it's the Bills
.leader Richard Sterne just sank about a 50-foot putt for eagle on No. 12 to move to 9-under.
Richard Sterne, 9 holes away from booking a full card on the PGA Tour for the 201-4-15 season.
Richard Sterne surging on Sunday 3 under today thru 8. He leads by 2 over Justin Thomas. Sean O'Hair, Tony Finau share 3rd at -5
Roger Sloan posts 1-over 72 to finish week at +5, currently T37. He thinks winning score will be 6 or 7 under. Richard Sterne leads at -5
Richard Sterne played in the Presidents Cup last year and is now leading a Tour event. Funny and stupid game.
One of them was Richard Sterne, by the way, and he's tied for the lead.
Of the 33 players to play off No. 1 tee today only Richard Sterne (67) and (70) were only ones to break par
Fathauer's lead now down to two strokes at -8 through 7. Richard Sterne is today's riser at -6. Began the day at -1.
Midway thru third round the Scarlet Course is hanging tough. Tom Hoge, Richard Sterne have best rds so far at 3 under

2014 Open De France Betting Preview and Tips Graeme McDowell 11/1 McDowell returns to Europe this week to defend the title he won in some style here last year. A good early season has been followed by a very average year to date but that was improved greatly by a T6 at the Irish Open. GMac knows too that tournament was there for the taking had he holed ANY putt in the final round. The linksy feel of the Golf National outside Paris suits Graeme and if it plays as tough as in 2013 when nine under got the job done by four shots from Richard Sterne, I fancy McDowell to defend. Thomas Bjorn 22/1 Again building momentum ahead of the Open Championship and I feel Bjorn will be featuring plenty in my tips over the next few weeks. Impressive at Augusta (T8) and Wentworth (T3) Bjorn was also solid at the Nordea Masters (T15) and again last week in Germany (T8). A 74 on Saturday here last season (with a double bogey on 16) derailed his chances and he finished T8, but if Thomas can stay patient this week he certa ...
Congrats to a former student of mine Richard Sterne for finishing 4th at Doral in the world golf championship. Today awesome playing I'm very proud of the way you are playing
Stenson, Rory, Rose top seeds 24 minutes ago (Source: Team Talk) Henrik Stenson, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Zach Johnson are the four top seeds for WGC- Accenture Match Play Championship in Arizona. Organisers of the event were dealt a major blow when world number one Tiger Woods, the second-ranked Adam Scott and five-time major winner Phil Mickelson all withdrew. However, Europe's top three players Stenson, McIlroy and Rose have all signed up along with world number seven Johnson. Stenson has been given the top seed in the Bobby Jones division at Dove Mountain's Ritz-Carlton Golf Club and he will take on Kiradech Aphibarnrat first up. Rory McIlroy, first in the Ben Hogan bracket, will face Boo Weekley in his first match, while US Open winner Justin Rose is up against Scott Piercy with Zach Johnson battling it out with Richard Sterne. Former Masters champion Charl Schwartzel and Spaniard Sergio Garcia are also in McIlroy's draw while Stenson could face Jason Day, Web Simpson or Brandt Snedeker later in ...

Golf Digest South Africa shared the following link and had this to say about it: Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen (+ Richard Sterne) have been confirmed for the 2013 Nedbank Golf Challenge. 15 of the 30-man field has now been announced (see below in comments).
Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel and Richard Sterne have been added to the field to play in this year's Nedbank Golf Challenge.
South Africa currently has 4 golfers in the global top 50 rankings. Charl Schwartzel, Ernie Els, Louis Oosthuizen & Richard Sterne.
World Cup of Golf taking shape with more great names confirmed: Bill Haas and Matt Kuchar, Thomas Bjorn and Thorbjorn Olesen, Graeme McDowell and Shane Lowry, David Lynn and Chris Wood, Matteo Manassero and Francesco Molinari, Jonas Blixt and Peter Hanson, Brandon Grace and and Richard Sterne, Martin Laird and Stephen Gallacher, Nicolas Colsaerts, Vijay Singh, Brendan de Jonge, Joost Luiten, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Rafael Cabrera-Bello, Jamie Donaldson, Marcel Siem and Ryo Ishikawa. Can any of them beat Day and Scott though?
Woods' quiet day turns busy as he clinches Cup DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) -- Nobody figured that Tiger Woods, bad back and all, would have to hit a meaningful shot on Sunday at the Presidents Cup. The International side made sure he had to. Woods took the lead over the unheralded Richard Sterne with a par at the 16th hole and then had to lag a long birdie putt to within a foot to clinch the United States' fifth consecutive Presidents Cup victory, 18 1/2-15 1/2 over the International side. ''It's been a long week for all of us,'' Woods said of the stops and starts inflicted by yet another series of torrential rains at Muirfield Village, where he's won five Memorial Tournaments. ''I'm a little bit sore. Certainly I'm looking forward to not touching a club in a while.'' Teeing off ninth in the U.S. order in singles, it was Woods who supplied the clincher for the third time in a row in the biennial international competition against a team comprised of players from everywhere in the world except Europe. A strong finish ...
Woods delivers final point to clinch Prez Cup for U.S. DUBLIN, Ohio – The Presidents Cup ended Sunday the same way it always goes – an American celebration after Tiger Woods delivered the winning point. Woods' back flared up on him again in the final hour at Muirfield Village. He still managed to hang on to beat Richard Sterne, 1 up, to give the Americans the 18 points they needed to win the Presidents Cup for the fifth straight time. It was the third straight Presidents Cup that Woods won the cup-clinching match - all three with Fred Couples as the captain. ''It was a team effort this whole week,'' said Woods, who went 4-1 for the best record of any player. ''We really played well to give ourselves a nice lead.'' The biggest surprise was not so much the outcome – United States 18 1/2, International 15 1/2 – but that the matches ended without going to Monday. Presidents Cup: Articles, videos and photos Rain interrupted the matches all week and made the course Jack Nicklaus built so soft that it wa ...
Looks like either Tiger Woods or Webb Simpson will be the winning point for the US. Tiger is 1 up on Richard Sterne.
I often laugh at some of Johnny's comparisons, but his call of Richard Sterne's swing being like Jeff Sluman's is incredibly spot on
Internationals out to break Presidents Cup drought The Internationals will be looking to break a 15-year drought in the Presidents Cup when the 2013 edition begins on Thursday. The United States have won five of the past six Presidents Cups, with the sixth a tie in 2003, and the International team have to go back to the 1998 event in Melbourne for their last victory. At the Royal Melbourne Golf Club two years ago, the USA won 19-15, while the International team tied with the Americans 17-all in South Africa in 2003. International captain Nick Price has five of his fellow South Africans to take on the Americans at Muirfield Village in Ohio this week, while two leading Australians will also be key to the visitors' chances. South Africa's Charl Schwartzel, Ernie Els, Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace and Richard Sterne make up the core of the International team, while Zimbabwe's Brendon de Jonge adds to the African flavour of Price's squad. Masters champion Adam Scott of Australia and his compatriot Jason Day ...
Steve's Newsletter - 12th September The teams for the Presidents Cup, which will be played from the 3rd to 6th October at Muirfield Village in Columbus, Ohio, are now finalized, and make for some interesting discussion. It’s really no surprise that Nick Price chose Brendon de Jonge over Tim Clark. Brendon has played consistently well over the last couple of years, but any team would benefit from a man with a heart the size of Tim’s. Nick Price has a terrific team, with five South Africans in it, but it is unfortunately inexperienced when compared to the US Team. We have seven rookies including Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace, Richard Sterne, Hideki Matsuyama, Graham DeLaet, Mark Leishman and Brendon de Jonge, while Jason Day and Charl Schwartzel are playing in only their second event. Adam Scott and Ernie Els are the most experienced, with Adam playing in his 6th event and Ernie in his 8th. All you can say about the US team is – wow!. Six players in the Top 10 of the World versus one from our team, ...

Sports News: McDowell wins French Open by four shots: (Reuters) - World number nine Graeme McDowell held off the challenge of South Africa's Richard Sterne to win the French Open by four shots at the tough Le Golf National on Sunday. The pair were joint leaders at five-under following the third round, with several other contenders within striking distance at the 2018 Ryder Cup venue. Yet Northern Ireland's McDowell, the 2010 U.S. Open champion, and Sterne both birdied two of their first six holes to ensure they were in prime position to keep their rivals at a distance. ... South African golfer Brandon Stone announced his decision to turn professional on Wednesday. His first professional event, on a sponsor’s exemption, would be at the European Tour's BMW International Open starting on June 20. “I am very excited to turn professional and get started with the next phase of my golf career,” said Stone. “My first start will be at the BMW International Open and I am very grateful for the opportunity BMW are giving me and hope I reward them with a great performance.” Stone said he would rely on sponsors' invites in an attempt to earn a card on either the European or PGA Tours. “Initially, I will need invitations to play and I will need to compete in the right tournaments to give myself the best possible chance to win cards in Europe and the US.” Stone also revealed he had signed with management company IMG, joining fellow countrymen Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Branden Grace, Trevor Immelman and Richard Sterne, which the company also manages. Stone's decision comes aft ...

RICHARD CHEESE & LOUNGE AGAINST THE MACHINE TOMORROW'S STANDARDS TODAY! OFFICIAL BIO America's loudest lounge singer Richard Cheese performs swingin' Vegas versions of rock, rap, and Top40 hits, "swankifying" contemporary songs into traditional pop vocal standards. With his Lounge Against The Machine swing band, Cheese has sold more than 200,000 CDs, and played hundreds of sellout concerts around the world. The finger-snapping, liquor-lapping, night-capping crooner first stepped into the spotlight in 2000 with his LOUNGE AGAINST THE MACHINE album. This critically acclaimed CD featured "swankified" versions of alternative rock songs, such as Radiohead's CREEP and Limp Bizkit's NOOKIE, arranged for a big band sound. Thanks to radio stations including KROQ/Los Angeles, Z100/New York City, and the nationally-syndicated Dr. Demento Show, Cheese soon found an audience that shared his love of lounge music, including rockstar Brian Setzer, who hired Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine to play at his pri . ...

Instincts - Self Preservation, Social, Sexual.   These three instincts are built into our bestial nature, which resides at an unconscious level helping to ensure our survival, both of ourselves and our species. From the perspective of the enneagram, we want to know how these drives appear and function, both within personality and as distinct patterns, as defined by each instinct alone or the alignment of two or three (stacking).   Sexuals attract others without really trying. They also repel others in the same way, like an anti-pheromone. This works like a screening function in the mating process. People typically have a strong reaction one way or another towards Sx's, and vice versa.   Self Pres people instinctively avoid certain foods and environments, and are likewise drawn to those things that nourish and sustain them. Sp's have a strong reaction against things that threaten to harm their comfort or health.   Social is driven towards gaining protection and empowerment within larger enti ...

Creuzbaur's brave plans for Sea King March 08, 1862 On this day in 1862, the battle of the Civil War ironclads Merrimack and Monitor near Chesapeake Bay sounded the death knell for a Texas gunboat before it ever got out of the planning stages. Texas mapmaker Robert Creuzbaur had proposed an innovative design for an iron-plated gunboat called Sea King in November 1861. With a hot-air engine that powered propellers at the stern, this wood and iron vessel, Creuzbaur estimated, could reach a speed of 18 mph. Topside armaments would provide ample defense, but the ship’s most unique weapon was a gun beneath the waterline. This “submarine cannon” would surely blast through the Union fleet’s vulnerable wooden hulls. Fifty years before its time, the inventive cartographer envisioned a version of the modern torpedo tube. Governor Francis R. Lubbock appointed a scientific committee, and soon Texas legislators, excited about the great military potential of Sea King, appropriated $500 for Creuzbaur to present ...
Here are some highlights: The Regulatory Czar – Cass Sunstein Sunstein was nominated and approved to be Obama’s “Regulatory Czar.” He supports massive gun control and doesn’t believe the 2nd Amendment is an individual right. He has straight out said, “We ought to ban hunting.” While this fruitcake strips Americans of their Constitutional right to own guns, he wants to give rights to animals and has argued that “Animals should be permitted to bring suit…” Naturally, he also supports the “Fairness Doctrine,” the wrongly-named concept which allows the government to regulate the airwaves. Climate Czar – Todd Stern Stern has even gone as far as to propose that world powers form an “E8” group, who would meet yearly and dictate environmental policy to the rest of the world. What about national sovereignty? Clearly, Stern feels that’s an outdated concept. Stern is also the nutcase behind the Cap and Trade proposal which, even an analysis by Obama’s own Treasury Department conclud ...

Its your chance, young guns With a good few big guns away in the US or taking a break ahead of next week's WGC-Match Play, this week's Africa Open gives the young guns of the European Tour their big chance. For example, super-hot Richard Sterne would almost certainly have been the favourite with bookmakers like Paddy Power to win this week's Africa Open at East London Golf Club had he not won last week's Joburg Open. But as things have turned out, that victory on Sunday in the fourth of the six European Tour events being played in South Africa this year has earned him a place in next week's WGC-Accernture World Match Play Championship at the Doral Golf Resort
Shane Lowry just makes the Accenture World Matchplay Shane Lowry gained entry to the elite event thanks to the last ditch efforts of American Patrick Reed at the US PGA Tour's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am last week. With Sweden's Fredrik Jacobson needing to finish seventh on his own at Pebble Beach if he was to push Lowry down to 66th in the world, Reed holed a 12-foot birdie putt on the last hole for a two-way tie for seventh with Jacobson. That meant Jacobson moved up only to Number 66 - just 0.0002 points behind Lowry. At World Number 65, Lowry qualifies following the withdrawal of American Phil Mickelson, who returned to the top ten of the World Ranking with his victory in the recent Waste Management Phoenix Open on the US PGA Tour. Padraig Harrington is back amongst the elite also following his good early season form which sees him currently ranked 48th in the official rankings. Richard Sterne has been rewarded for his scintillating recent form with a place in the 64-man field at next week’s W ...

Watt’s 62 puts Aussies in command at Ten Nations Cup GEORGE (7 January 2013) - Richard Sterne might be hogging the headlines after a birdie-rich 63 to lead the Joburg Open, but top Australian amateur Brady Watt went one better than the five-time European Tour winner in today’s second round of the Ten Nations Cup in George. The 22-year-old Royal Perth golfer blitzed the par-72 layout at Kingswood Golf Estate in 12 pars, six birdies and two eagles for a 10 under 62 to take command of the individual leaderboard. Watt’s superb effort - supported by 70s from team-mates Geoff Drakeford, Lucas Herbert and Ryan Ruffels - also helped Australia make up a 14 shot deficit with a total score of 202 that bumped the team into a share of the overall lead with Scotland on 14-under-418. James White birdied four of his last six holes, but his 67 fell one stroke short of giving Scotland the outright lead. Graeme Robertson (69) and Frazer McKenna (71) produced the other counting scores for Scotland’s 207. England’s ...

As the soldiers of the Second Pennsylvania (including the Portage RR workers of the American Highlanders) were making their way down the Ohio on their way to the Mexican War, one of the men commented on January 11th, 1847: "Today I was detailed for guard and with another sentinel was posted in the stern of the boat--don't know what for--had no orders except to prevent soldiers from jumping overboard, as though any sane man would prefer a cold river in mid-winter with a very slim chance of ever getting ashore." Sheffield FC Futsal 14 Leeds and Wakefield Futsal Club 1 Sheffield FC Futsal began 2013 in emphatic style with a 14-1 victory over Yorkshire rivals Leeds and Wakefield at Concord Leisure Centre. The win means Sheffield have won all eight fixtures so far in their FA Futsal League North campaign, with this latest triumph played with a depleted line-up. First-choice goalkeeper Curtis Holmes was on England duty, whilst Ollie Wheatly-O’Neill, James Radford and Eamonn Chapman’s unavailability, Joel Rocha’s injury and Toluwa Sotonye’s recovery from illness saw Sheffield name only nine players in their squad. Head-coach Daniel Berdejo-del-Fresno was also absent due to his commitments with England, so Richard Moore took the helm for this fixture.   The opening stages were pretty even as Leeds and Wakefield did not give much away, and both sides managed to furnish some half-chances. However, Sheffield drew first blood when Jonny Steel latched onto Bruno Nascimento’s pass to fire expertly into the bottom ...

Over the years, I have seen so many of my sweet colleagues, when asked "how is a baroque violin different from a modern violin?" fumble for answers. That professionals don't know the answer is lamentable: keyboard players know every iota of history and construction, they work on their instruments relentlessly; and a huge percentage of period wind players actually build their own instruments. It's not all that surprising, though, because bowed string players have never been encouraged to learn the specifics of the objects with which they spend half their waking hours, least of all by dealers, who want them ignorant and pliable. Since the early 19th century, all sorts of myths and lies have sprung up. String players, period or modern, live in a world of hearsay. But during the dawn of the period-instrument revival, players did have reasonable answers to the title question. Now, as players slip back into using modern instruments which they think are period, answers are hard to come by. Add to this that one ...
We just received in the mail our tix to SIX Phillies games--hooray! Spring can't be so far away. Guess we are official fans now!
These opening words of Shakespear's Richard 3 speak my heart out. Kinda exactly what I am feeling today: Now is the winter of our discontent Made glorious summer by this sun of York; And all the clouds that lour'd upon our house In the deep bosom of the ocean buried. Now are our brows bound with victorious wreaths; Our bruised arms hung up for monuments; Our stern alarums changed to merry meetings, Our dreadful marches to delightful measures. Grim-visaged war hath smooth'd his wrinkled front; And now, instead of mounting barded steeds To fright the souls of fearful adversaries, He capers nimbly in a lady's chamber To the lascivious pleasing of a lute.
Many thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes, they really made my day! Special shout out to my fellow January Niners, famous and infamous: John Keough, Ian Bravado, Haden Killian (born yesterday!), Bob Denver, Joan Baez, Jimmy Page, Dave Matthews, Richard Nixon, Kate Middleton, et al, and all the others not mentioned. did Tricky Dicky get on this list?
I was watching a TV show call"Comic Book Men". It was season 3 epi 5 and you wont belive what I saw one the guys wearing, it was a :Charred Walls of The Damned" T-Shirt. The reason I am posting about this is that the drummer is a really close friend off mine. To those of my FB friends that have no idea whom I am speaking about it's Richard Christy. Rich was in Death, Iced Earth and Controle Denied. He now is a writer for the Howard Stern Show. Those of you true metal heads please check out his band Charred Walled Of The Damned, They are on Metal Blade Records with 2 bad *** cds out. Thanks and have a very Metal Night.
Now that Hilda Solis is gone at Labor Dept., Obama can nominate his ideal Labor Secretary ... Richard Trumka. Maybe that Carolyn Lewis from Chicago?
"Just going to dump some lists here and there'll be overlap, as there always must be when making more than one such list. I hadn't realised " Continue reading →
