On This Day In History. On this day in 1776, the Second Continental Congress, assembled in Philadelphia, formally adopts Richard Henry Lee's resolution for independence from Great Britain. The vote is unanimous, with only New York abstaining. The resolution had originally been presented to Congress on June 7, but it soon became clear that New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and South Carolina were as yet unwilling to declare independence, though they would likely be ready to vote in favor of a break with England in due course. Thus, Congress agreed to delay the vote on Lees Resolution until July 1. In the intervening period, Congress appointed a committee to draft a formal declaration of independence. Its members were John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, Roger Sherman of Connecticut, Robert R. Livingston of New York and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia. Thomas Jefferson, well-known to be the best writer of the group, was selected to be the primary author of the do ...
It was fun watching Jason Kidd play. I'll always remember how he used to run n gun with K-Mart and Richard Jefferson back in New Jersey
Nobody said this would be easy. It’s so difficult to build a contender over night. The NBA is not a parody league. The best teams stay the best teams and the cellar-dwellers always have trouble finding the stairs to get out of the basement. The New Jersey Nets have been trapped in that basement for years now. After dominating the East and making the NBA Finals two times in a row, the Nets have not had a winning season since 2006. In 2007, with Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, and Richard Jefferson on the roster, New Jersey posted a 41-41 record. That would be as good as good could get for five years. The Nets have not been in the Playoffs since that 2007 season. A 12-70 record in the 2010 campaign marked the lowest point in Nets’ history and the murmurs of taking the franchise to Brooklyn began to become the only thing worth talking and hoping about. In summation, from 2000-2010, the Nets made the Playoffs six times, the Finals twice, had five All-Stars and a near MVP in Kidd. Then Kidd and Jefferson got tra ...
Who remembers when Richard Jefferson, Kenyon Martin, & Jason Kidd use to ball out for New Jersey!!??
Richard Jefferson with the dunk over Kobe Bryant during the fourth game of the 2001-2002 NBA Finals in New Jersey
Man the last time I was this excited about the NBA was when Vince Carter, Jason Kidd, and Richard Jefferson were playing in New Jersey.
