Henry Okah insists President Jonathan masterminded two bomb attacksHenry Okah, the detained leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), blamed for the 2010 Independence Day bomb that killed at least 10 people with many more injured, is to tell a South African court the attacks were sponsoredby President Goodluck Jonathan. That, he said, came after the president and those working for him, had engineered similar attacks earlier in March 2010.“It is my belief that President Goodluck Jonathan’s government working with a faction of MEND planned and executed the bombings of 14 March 2010 and 1 October 2010,” Mr. Okah said in an affidavit deposed at a South African court. The president’s spokesperson, Reuben Abati, could not be reached to comment for this story. Calls to his mobile telephone were neither answered nor returned. The sworn affidavit is expected to be filed at the court between Tuesday and Wednesday as Mr. Okah renews his bid to secure a bail after spending more than ...
The only reason why a typical anti-Buhari Nigerian won't vote for him is because he allegedly once made an unconfirmed statement: "I will make Nigeria ungovernable if I don't win the next(2011) election". THE TRUTH There was no point in history, when Buhari ever said he would make Nigeria ungovernable. It's true certain Northerners made statements similar but not exactly what many uninformed Nigerians have been fed to vomit around. Those who made the statements are PDP members to claim that after Yaradua's death, it was still the turn of the North to produce president. The people are still alive. They are Alhaji Bamanga Tukur and Alhaji Keita. It's got to do with PDP constitution regarding rotational presidency. And who fabricated the lie against Him? It was no person other than GEJ spokesman, Reuben Abati. But following the first publication of the lie, General Buhari did not take it lightly. He instituted a libel suit against Abati and The Guardian Newspaper for damaging his name. What followed? The Pre ...

Jonathan ill? Concern over Nigerian leader’s visit to London *A News Commentary on Jonathan’s private visit abroad Nigerians have expressed concerns over the reason for President Goodluck Jonathan’s private visit to London on Sunday. In the absence of any official disclosure about the true nature of the visit, Nigerians have been posting all manner of speculations. Some were of the view that the president went to pay a visit to jailed former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori. Some others said he went for a quick medical check-up over a serious ailment, while yet others said the president took his children to boarding school in the UK to allow him concentrate on the coming general election in February. A statement announcing the visit on Sunday signed by Dr. Reuben Abati simply said that the president was embarking on ‘’ a brief private visit to the United Kingdom”. It also said the President was accompanied on the trip by some of his principal staff and personal aides, and that he would ret ...

GOOD MORNING PALS Nigerian newspapers: 10 things you need to know this MONDAY morning: 27/10/2014 1. The Presidency has termed the recent allegation leveled against President Goodluck Jonathan by the Rivers State government as false and baseless, saying that the allegation was aimed at inciting Rivers people against Jonathan and a clear indication that the Rivers Governor had lost his sense of decorum. This was contained in a statement issued by Dr. Reuben Abati, Presidential Spokesperson. 2. Report says that the abandoned kids who were left to their fate in a boarding school have finally reunited with their parents eight years after going through excruciating pain. Segun Adepegba, the father of the three children abandoned in the school at Abule-Iroko, in Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, while meeting with his children apologised to them over his negligence. 3. The First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, on Sunday denied a statement by Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State that she asked hi ...
The reaction of Dr. Reuben Abati, the Media Adviser to President Good luck Jonathan, to the comment on the State of the Nation passed by General Muhammadu Buhari at his Declaration on Wednesday of his Intention to seek the Nomination of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Ticket for 2015 election in Abuja is impetuous, hogwash and tommyrot. The rather tempestuous and insidious reactions of the PDP, Dr. Toyin Okupe and Dr. Abati to Gen. Buhari’s Statement is a pointer to the fact that what Buhari said is the reality of the state of affairs prevailing in the country under the leadership of President Jonathan. General Buhari said that the Country is currently under the siege of the insurgency of the godless Boko Haram movement that has laid siege in the North East carrying out mindless killings and pillaging towns and Villages. Is this not a fact? What lie did General Buhari tell there? General Buhari told us that the Country‘s highways have been taken over by armed robbers. Is this not true ...
What exactly is “clueless” about Goodluck Jonathan? (2), By Femi Aribisala - When you point to the giant strides Nigeria is making under Goodluck Jonathan, in spite of the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East, some cynical Nigerians maintain you are either looking for a government “brown envelope,” or you want to replace Reuben Abati as the government spokesman. But I wonder who else is hankering after a handout from Goodluck Jonathan. Could Barack Obama also be looking for a job as our president’s press secretary? Read more:
Jonathan Mourns Remi Oyo, Says She Was A Trail-Blazer President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday described as immensely sad the news of the death of former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mrs Remi Oyo, saying her exemplary professional life, inspiring leadership qualities and her immense patriotism define her place in the country’s history as a trail-blazer. A statement by presidential spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati noted that the president who described the late Mrs Oyo as one of the most eminent Nigerian female journalists prayed God to comfort her family and all who mourn her, as well as grant her kind soul peaceful repose in eternity. Abati noted: “On behalf of his family and the Federal Government, President Jonathan extends sincere condolences to her husband, Vincent, her children, Otome and Okiemuote, her surviving siblings and other relatives. “The President similarly commiserates with the Nigerian Guild of Editors who Dame Oyo served most admirably as a two-term President i ...
The Genesis of Arch. Darius Failure at the Federal Level President Goodluck Jonathan Wednesday rejigged his cabinet by swapping the portfolios of two ministers of state. In the minor cabinet reshuffle announced during the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, Abuja, Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Ibrahim Kuchi, was moved to the Ministry of Power in the same capacity. Mr. Darius Dickson Ishaku, the Minister of State for Power until the shake-up, will replace Kuchi in the Niger Delta Affairs. The cabinet swap takes effect immediately. Presidential spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, said in a statement that the president’s decision was taken to strengthen the power sector. The president also ordered that the council should not receive fresh memos for contracts from November 30. However, THISDAY checks revealed that the cabinet shake-up was carried out because of Jonathan’s dissatisfaction with the performance of Ishaku in the power ministry. Sources said t ...
Nigeria: Jonathan Has No 'Liver' to Investigate, Prosecute Ali Modu Sheriff - APC The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the presidency of being economical with the truth in its response to the widespread condemnation of President Goodluck Jonathan for hobnobbing with accused Boko Haram sponsor Ali Modu Sheriff. In a statement issued in Dubai on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the presidency's stout defence of Sheriff's presence at President Jonathan's meeting with host President Idris Deby of Chad, and the fact that the presidency's statement was coordinated with the one by Sheriff's spokesman, has shown that the APC is right to have called for the trial of Sheriff and other alleged Boko Haram sponsors by the International Criminal Court (ICC), instead of the Nigerian security agencies which are under the Jonathan spell. It said President Jonathan has not got the liver to investigate and prosecute the accused, who are his friends, adding: "How can ...

AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL MEMBER(S) OF THIS FORUM This part of my letter is on the securities matters only, and the next time, i will justify on another incapacitation of president Gudluck Jonathan Admin. Every patriotic Nigerians will not re-elect President Gudluck Jonathan in the upcoming general Election of 2015 because of the following reasons 1. When President Goodluck Jonathan steps off the presidential jet from his Jeniva trip today, he will have 150 days left in office. In July 2011 when I penned his Countdown Calendar for the first time, he had almost 370. 2. Those 150 days come from the constitutional clock. In practical terms, the Jonathan presidency ran out of time and meaning a long time ago. In the past couple of months, President Jonathan has proved to the world, sadly, that his critics were right. 3. Last week, he journeyed to South Africa supposedly to discuss the militancy challenge confronting Africa. According to his spokesman, Reuben Abati, he was expected to discuss with continental lead ...

From Nasir Lawal Danmowa's wall. Jonathan’s Illness Exposes Nation’s Need For Healing The concealed state of health of President Goodluck Jonathan, who is on medical treatment in Germany, has reinforced an urgent need for the nation’s healing in the areas of unity, socio-cultural cohesion and strengthening of enduring bridges of understanding. Less than 10 hours after LEADERSHIP Weekend’s exclusive story on the medical visit that was masked as a private trip by Presidency officials, online reactions to the publication exposed the deep regional, political and religious sentiments in the country. Commentators were sharply divided along such lines. Jonathan’s trip to Germany had elicited suspicion and speculations on Thursday night when his spokesman Reuben Abati issued a terse statement announcing the visit to the European country as the president was scheduled to host members of the just concluded national conference on Thursday night at the Presidential Villa. LEADERSHIP Weekend had made frantic ...
Jonathan declares state of emergency over Ebola 2014-08-08 18:34 Abuja - President Goodluck Jonathan declared a national state of emergency on Friday over the Ebola outbreak in Africa's most populous country, and approved 1.9 billion naira ($11.7 million) of emergency funds to contain it. Nigeria has confirmed seven cases of Ebola in its commercial capital Lagos since a man fell sick on arrival from Liberia, two of whom have died. Several dozen people who came into contact with the man are under surveillance. Jonathan's spokesman Reuben Abati said the money would pay to "strengthen steps to contain the virus such as ... additional isolation centres, case management, contact tracing, deployment of additional personnel, screening at borders, and the procurement of required items and facilities". THE CLOSED DOORS MEETING OF President Goodluck Jonathan WITH THE PARENTS OF CHIBOK GIRLS, ABDUCTED MORE THAN 3 MONTHS AGO BY Boko Haram INSURGENTS, HAS REPORTEDLY FINISHED. According to The Nation, among those who attended the meeting were about 51 secondary school girls that escaped from terrorists, their parents, some parents of girls still in captivity and community and opinion leaders from Chibok, Borno State. Speaking with his guests at the Banquet Hall of the State House, the country leader promised to bring back the girls alive. He assured parents that the Nigerian government was doing everything possible to let the victims reunite with their families as soon as possible. "Insult Upon Injury" - By Hussaina Ishaya Audu via Premium Times - July 16, 2014 “You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.” Abraham Lincoln I don’t like Goodluck Jonathan. I have asked myself why because I believe emotions should have a rational basis. It would be illogical for me to have an unexplainable aversion for someone. I dislike Jonathan because I detest insincerity. And I hate people trying to insult my intelligence. Why should Jonathan use over $1.2 million of Nigeria’s money to clean up a mess he created all by himself? After all, didn’t he appoint Reuben Abati and Doyin Okupe all by himself? How then can he justify hiring a PR firm at said cost to repair an image he has undone by his own action and inaction and with the help of his two aides? Is he going to sack them or are they going to continue receiving salaries while Levick and co do their work for them? And thinking about it, it’s actual ...

[TODAY] CHIBOK GIRLS: Jonathan is not the problem – Reuben Abati
The Presidency on Friday said it was not true that the Goodluck Jonathan administration was repressing the opposition in the build-up to the Ekiti governorship election. Mr. Jonathan’s spokesperson, Reuben Abati, in a statement on Thursday said the allegation by the APC National Chairman, John Oyegun, was like crying “wolf where there is none.” “It is absolutely wrong to accuse this administration of repression,” Mr. Abati said. “If anything, this administration has been most tolerant of opposition and most respectful of everybody’s right of association. This accusation cannot stand at all.” Mr. Oyegun and the APC had earlier accused the Federal Government of using security agencies to frustrate its activities including barring its governors from entering Ekiti to campaign for Governor Kayode Fayemi. “We urge President Goodluck Jonathan to live up to his pledge, made several times over, that he would always ensure that elections held under his watch are free and fair, and that his ambiti ...
Roli Nigerians received the news of Roli Adeniyi’s appointment as new NDLEA chairman with shock.Roli is the wife of PDP top shot, Chief Bode George and her appointment was announced in a statement signed Reuben Abati, meaia aide to President Goodluck Jonathan. This is because most people see her more as a socialite than someone who can handle a ‘serious’ organization as national drug law enforcement agency. The public image of Roli is that of a beautiful woman with flamboyant lifestyles. However, that opinion seems to be a no-no to those who know her from close quarters. The former university of Benin beauty queen has brains too. Roli was a commissioner of the Nigeria Population Commission (NPC) for sometime but the office didn’t put her in the spotlight as her recent appointment as Chairman of NDLEA. The question is, what will change in NDLEA now that Roli is there?Pray that any leader of core-supporter of the opposition party, APC is not arrested, otherwise to would be called political victimiz . ...

No Wonder Rere dey Run, By Pius Adesanmi - Aso Rock Villa. Living Room of the President’s private residence. Israeli, American, French, Chinese, Cambodian, Somalian, Sudanese, and Ghanaian security operatives protecting the Nigerian president are in the background. They try to make themselves unobtrusive. Also in the background, chanting Quranic hymns on mats imported from Chad, are marabouts from Niger, Senegal, and Gambia. At the centre of the living room, some distance away from all the foreign intelligence and spiritual protectors of the President, the usual suspects gather, wearing gloomy faces: President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Tony Anenih, Baba Iyabo, Ayo Oritsejafor, Mohammed Adoke, Doyin Okupe, Reuben Abati, and other inconsequential AGIPs. May 30, 2014 “Prophet Abati” by Tony Dada “It is very easy in a Presidential position in Nigeria, nay Africa, to get carried away with the ceremonies of office, to be largely overwhelmed by the fawning attention of sycophants and opportunists, and as the intensity of this increase, the man of power begins to imagine himself a superman, and he soon forgets his primary assignment and begins to enjoy the office for its own sake and what it can bring. It is both a practical and psychological pitfall, the drama of which has been played out all too often in many African states, to the great discomfort and disadvantage of the people. It looks like President Goodluck Jonathan is beginning to fall into that pot. He needs to watch his steps.” Culled from the article “Hurry up, Jonathan” by Reuben Abati, published by The Guardian, May 15 2010. I have been engaged in an innate riot of thoughts in my head since I recently stumbled on the aforementioned article posted on one of the online media plat ...
You wake up struggling with your resolve last night not to talk about the yellow card offences of the Government. It is disheartening. How do you deal with the wobble of President Goodluck on the challenge of the insurgency. He says one thing, Youth Minister Boni Haruna says another, Reuben Abati counters Boni Haruna's public posture. Then Information Minister runs his mouth with the most outlandish conclusions on what Nigeria is faced with. Where in the world do you ban a protest like the ? First you organize a counter, which receives a public donation and raids the original one, the the Commissioner of Police of the Federal Capital bans public protests. Were these acts thought out Government would have acted differently. Now what? Those dumbos do not realise that media focus on a protest in however remote a corner of the world takes it to the centre? All morning, my dear country Nigeria has been with the laundry. Insults don't wash dirt. They pile up on dirt to become grime. I am looking at Nigeria's gr ...
Mahmud Jega advises the Jonathanians to "DISOWN THESE ONES AS WELL" - 2nd June 2014 - Mahmud Jega He has been a minister for only a few months. He was a state governor for eight years who fell out with his political godfather, remained in PDP and made into the Federal cabinet after he organised a group of former governors for Jonathan 2015. He ended up in the less-fancied Ministry of Youth Development and at the weekend, Mr Boni Haruna received a public dressing down from higher quarters without precedent in the Jonathan presidency. Haruna had in a speech on May 29 urged the youth to support the amnesty program that he said President Jonathan offered to Boko Haram insurgents. But the president’s spokesman Reuben Abati harshly disowned Haruna at the weekend, saying the minister is on his own and that the president did not use the term amnesty in his televised May 29 speech. According to Abati, the president only “spoke about those who are willing to denounce terrorism, those who are ready to embrace pe ...

is empty without money. This man is just a procurement officer! Who out of inferiority complex procures the oil big boys as friends. Who out of incompetence procures the print media. Who due to lack of credibility procures Professors and former Presidents. Just yesterday has again procured social media consultants and has handed them his mission statements: 1- Bring down President Jonathan at all cost. 2: If (1) doesn't work, then paint a picture in the hearts of Rivers people, that has entered a pact with President Jonathan to remain in APC to support Mr. President's re-election. 3: and Mr President has in turn given his nod to bring an "unworthy" successor. It is important to alert the unsuspecting public that The Vanguard newspaper has already been procured for this assignment (The release of Rivers jet and Jonathan's friend balderdash). Therefore, with permission from the desk of Dr. Reuben Abati, I wish to emphatically say that the story is completely false and unfounded. Mr. President did not ente . ...
We are confronted with all manner of spokespersons reeling out information after another. They are brazen and audacious, in total lack of decorum and sedateness. We once had a Minister in this country who told us telephone was not for the poor. Can you beat that? In the last one month alone, they have been all categories of information handlers who do nothing but confused the populace. But truly speaking, who should we listen to? Is it Doyin Okupke, Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Reuben Abati, SSA on Media and Publicity, Labaran Maku or Anyim Pius Ayim, Secretary to the Federal Government? Let us stop at this four personalities but, to be candid the list is endless. We could go on and on. When the White House releases a statement, most likely it emanated from Jay Carney, when the British foreign office speaks, who else but William Hague is communicating. So who speaks for Aso Rock? Didn't they say information is power? Or better still, precise and concise information is not just power, it get ...
“People who have never run a poultry are grandstanding about running a country. Lai Muhammed is not in the position to talk about competence,"—Abati. Reuben Abati —"It is very clear that the APC is being dishonest. Its intention is to play politics with insurgency and terrorism. “I think the question needs to be pointedly asked: `What country does the APC belongs to? “What country is the APC seeking to preside over? “As it appears, the APC seems blinded by its own narrow ambition and that is why in recent times, you can find some persons purportedly speaking for the APC making completely illogical and unreasonable statements. “If you look at the statement by Lai Muhammed, he is accusing the government of abdicating its responsibilities. “President Jonathan has never at any time abdicated responsibilities. .“He has consistently made it clear that the safety of every Nigerian is important to him, that the security of lives and property is central to all the goals and objectives of this ad ...

The President of The Federal Republic Of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan earlier today expressed his optimism towards intervention from the international community whom he said are set to deplore a considerable amount of military, intelligence accumulation skills and assets in support of Nigeria’s on-going war against terrorism. A statement released by the President’s Senior Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Reuben Abati claimed that the President said this while speaking with the Israeli Prime Minister, Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu via telephone. He said the Israeli leader called on Sunday afternoon to convey his country’s sympathy and solidarity with Nigeria and offered anti-terrorism assistance. President Jonathan welcomed the offer by Mr. Netanyahu to send a team of Israeli counter-terrorism experts to assist in the ongoing search and rescue operations for the school girls abducted from their school dormitory on April 14 2014 in chibok, Borno State. Abati said, “The President briefed Mr. Netanyahu on actions ...
Sir. You snap very clear pictures. You would be our own Reuben Abati but a credibe Abati when Gen Buhari is elected by 2015.
GEJ should rid of Reuben Abati & Labaran Maku with immediate effect, else they should take a crash course on Info. & comm. mgt.
If i were President Jonathan, I would stop having all these unpresidential media chats, I would make few comments on air, I would get good and excellent PR consultants to develop responses to lots of these issues in the front burner. I would sack Reuben Abati, Doyin Okupe, Labaran Maku, and the cohort. I would also convince mama *** to be a silent wife of Mr president, appearing in public with Mr president but never to be heard. I would also lead in the present by tackling issues as a Nigerian and not as a Christian president, an Ijaw president, a south south president, a minority president etc. I would try to engrave and emulate great leaders of contemporary times with international best practises. But who am I but a bloody bone setter and tormentor of bad governance.
OmG someone shud just shoot me. I'm done I'm done with the pple in GEJ's gov't. Reuben Abati, Doyin Okupe, Labaran Maku n the rest. Oh lord!
Reuben Abati, Doyin Okupe, Labaran Maku, should all bury their head in shame for belonging to this kind of Government of pain, I so much detest every bit of their contribution and support for Jonathan. They have murdered truth and truth is ready to expose and confine them into shame and regret for not telling us the true state of the nation. Rather they enjoy packaging Jonathan with false hood and lies. Nigerians must realize that now is the time to unlock the door to our deliverance from state of despair. Can we win this WAR?
CHIBOK UPDATE British to deploy Advanced Tracking Imaging capabilities for the search and rescue operation of Chibok girls. This was made known by Presidential media aid, Reuben Abati after President Jonathan have a telephone conversation today with British Prime Minister, David Cameron. With the deployment of this modern tracking technologies devices couple with support by American and Nigeria securities, the operation will be successful but my fear is the safety of those girls. Military actions in rescue operation always result in casualties. The Beslan School and Moscow Theater are case study. We should not only dwell on but we should also consider because they can be brought lifeless. God forbid.
I have always seen the information minister, Labaran Maku, presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati, S A to president on political affairs, Doyin Okupe all speaking on Terrorism, but, neither d senior or state minister of defense has issued a word/statement on the state of affairs on security matter in Nigeria, why?
Reuben Abati is Nig. Govt Spokesman; Jay Carney is White House Press Sec. One of them is lying. One is the most likely to be lying. (2)
THE RISE & FALL OF Gulak THE TALKATIVE Last Tuesday, the Presidential spokesman Reuben Abati announced the termination of the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Gulak, Special Adviser (Political), to President Goodluck Jonathan. Abati, in a short statement, said the sack was with immediate effect. In the statement, Jonathan thanked Gulak for his services to the present administration and wished him success in his future endeavors. He said a replacement for Gulak, who hails from Adamawa State, would be announced in due course. The statement failed to reveal the reasons for the sack of Gulak, a lawyer and former legislator, who once served as National Coordinator of Goodluck Support Group (GSG), a group which campaigned for President Jonathan’s election in 2011 and which has commenced fresh campaigns for the 2015 re- election bid of Mr President. INA SAKANIN KU BANDA MARI ! Nigeria's suspended Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido, accused by President Goodluck Jonathan of wasting public funds on unapproved projects, has provided details of how the president himself personally authorized some of those spending, one of them a multibillion naira purchase of helicopters for the police, and another, a N2.1 billion renovation of the cabinet meeting room in the Presidential Villa. Mr. Sanusi said the police project, which also involved buying other security equipment, cost N19.7 billion, and that it was carried out "upon the instruction" of President Jonathan. The president, he said, also requested that the CBN pay N3.2 billion for the construction of a new counter terrorism centre for the office of the National Security Adviser, alongside other projects. "Consistent with our policy of development, upon the instruction of His Excellency, the President, the CBN intervened by paying N19.7 Billion to the Ministry of Police Affairs for the purchase of armour ...

REUBEN ABATI - If he were to still be an editor in his former work place, I imagine how he would 've taken on the Jonathan led Fed. Govt. on the NIS Job seekers sad story. The gross inability to organise and execute. The robbery of N1000 from over a million youth (over N1billion). The death of over 19 job applicants + several injured and still purpotedly receiving "generous" treatment courtesy of the FG. The comments of the Minister of Interior Affairs. The unreasonable response of his boss Just wondering what the 'spokesperson of the president' would 've said or written. Hmm! How time and people change.
The suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi yesterday responded to the allegations of financial recklessness filed against him by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) which led to his suspension last month. Last week, presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati challenged Sanusi to respond to the allegations and stop playing the victim. In a 28-page reply emailed to Daily Trust yesterday, Sanusi said the response was necessary to clarify the allegations against the CBN cited as the reasons for his suspension from office with effect from 19th of February 2014. Sanusi gave detailed explanation on the issues raised by the council and attached evidences on each allegation against him. The response tilted: ‘Memorandum Responding to The FRCN Allegations,” Sanusi said some of the monies alleged to have been spent recklessly were paid on the instruction of the President Goodluck Jonathan. For instance, on the intervention projects which were regarded as unlawfu ...
National News Thursday, March 20, 2014 1. Jonathan Cancels Fatal Recruitment Exercise • Grants job concessions to families of deceased, injured victims • Sets up special committee to conduct fresh employment • NIS board blames minister for tragedy President Goodluck Jonathan has cancelled last Saturday’s recruitment by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), which turned tragic when over 16 job seekers died in stampedes at various centres nationwide. He directed the conduct of a fresh employment process that will be supervised by a special committee headed by the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Mrs. Joan Ayo, to fill the vacancies in the NIS. Also, in a bid to appease the families of the deceased applicants and those injured during the exercise, the president has ordered that they should be given preferential treatment in the recruitment process. Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, told State House reporters yesterday in Abuja after the weekly meeting of the Federa ...
What happened on Saturday was a national tragedy and I pray for The Lord to console the families of the departed ones. The incident could only happen in a country like Nigeria or how would you explain that. Those who organised the recruitment were inhuman and should not remain in their posts any longer. People are unemployed and you are asking them to pay 1000 Naira, to steal or beg? Who suggested this? Who are the people who agreed to the suggestion. The people must be hanged, they are not good for our society or any society at all. It is only in Nigeria that such a Minister will remain in post and not resign. It is not enough for the President to hive a warning. In an ideal world or a disciplined society that is not corrupt the incident was a gross misconduct. The automatic penalty should be at least a sack if the Minister has no shame to resign honourably. What am I saying is there any thing honourable in our society? I wonder what Dr Abati would have written in his Guardian news paper column but he is ...
The Sunday Sting, Abuja Reno Omokri, the under fire presidential spokesperson, has accused his village witches of being behind his recent travails. The outspoken presidential aide, who was recently accused of attempting to spread false story about the suspended Central Bank Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi using a fake ID, insisted he was not to blame for the lapse in judgement. Omokri explained the situation on NTA’s AM Express this morning: ‘Let us be clear, I did not really attempt to link Mallam Sanusi with Boko Haram. What happened was that a draft of a short story I was working on was sent out prematurely. My assistant was hypnotized by these wicked witches to send it out before we could properly mask our signature on the document. I repeat, what you guys saw on the internet was a short fiction I was working on, and that name, Wendell Simlin, is my pen name for fiction writing.’ ‘It was all the doing of the witches who have been working against me all along. They didn’t want me to suc ...

Badeh is CDS, Jibrin heads Navy, Amosu heads Air Force President Goodluck Jonathan has replaced all the military chiefs in sweeping changes at the top of the Nigerian armed forces announced yesterday. He named Air Marshal Alex Badeh as Chief of Defence Staff after removing Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim from the post. Major-General Kenneth Tobiah Jacob Minimah has, as predicted by Daily Trust, replaced Lieutenant-General Azubike O. Ihejirika as Chief of Army Staff. Daily Trust exclusively reported in January last year that Major-General Minimah was being groomed for that post (see the full story reproduced on this page). Further details on the changes show that Rear Admiral Usman O. Jibrin has replaced Vice Admiral Dele Joseph Ezeoba as Chief of Naval Staff while Air Vice Marshal Adesola Nunayon Amosu takes over from Air Marshal Badeh as Chief of Air Staff. A statement from presidential spokesman Reuben Abati said the president had already briefed the leadership of the National Assembly on the new appointmen ...

Oghiadhome’s kinsmen celebrate his removal from office... Report has it that there was jubilation on Tuesday in Fugar, Edo State, country home of President Goodluck Jonathan’s former Chief of Staff, Mike Oghiadhome over his removal from office. Kinsmen of the former CoS, including market women, who had accused him of abandoning his people, were said to have sang and danced round the community as news of Oghiadhome’s exit from office became known. Though, a communique by Jonathan’s spokesman, Reuben Abati, on Monday said Oghiadhome voluntarily resigned to pursue his political ambition, his kinsmen have continued to insist that he was sacked from office. One of Oghiadhome’s kinsmen told newsmen that, “We were happy when we heard the news. Of what relevance is Oghiadomhe to Fugar people that he has neglected? Rather, he used his position to oppress and intimidate our poor people. “Look at what the late (Mike) Akhigbe did for us, but sadly he (Oghiadomhe) preferred to keep enmity with him (Akhig ...
Reasons Nigerians Should Vote Out Jonathan ––Fani-Kayode Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has been in the eye of the storm since the deportation of some Igbo from Lagos to Anambra State. The former Minister of Aviation has been critical of the Goodluck Jonathan administration which, he said, has performed abysmally. In this first part of the explosive interview, Fani-Kayode speaks on his trial, Olusegun Obasanjo administration, 2015 elections and other salient issues. Excerpts: How is life out of government and what are those things you are actually missing? I do not miss being out of government. I have served my country for four years at the highest level and it is good enough. Recently, the President’s spokesman described some of you that worked with the Obasanjo administration who are critical of the Goodluck Jonathan administration as yesterday’s men. Do you see yourself as a man of yesterday? The essay was written by my friend and brother, Dr. Reuben Abati, who is President Jonathan’s spokesman. I res ...
My Dear Chief Anenih . LEADERSHIP NEWSPAPER BACKPAGE The world is expecting me to respond today to the letter you wrote me, so I will go straight to the point. Your letter to me, sir, was a little strange because I can’t see what you intend to achieve. But, as my Esan friend recently told me, there is a saying in your place that “when a bird suddenly begins dancing on top of the tree, then there is music under the ground”. Aso Rock is presently under serious heat and it is as a result of the revelation of this Kenyan woman that a lot is going on with Nigeria's money that we Nigerians are not even aware of. Hear what she said below: "Your president (Goodluck Jonathan) visited my country with seven private jets and that's never happened before... This is Nigeria. It's the country with the largest private jets. Seven private jets only. I know there must be more but for us still that was wow. Everybody came in their own jets." Reuben Abati is claiming that all the 7 jets that landed on the said day in Kenya are not people in Jonathan's entourage, but Nigerians know that there are 10 jets in the Presidential Fleet and Jonathan is even trying to buy an additional one for over N1.5billion in 2014. When will people like Reuben Abati working in the Presidency learn to say the truth as it is? help us
