Reproductive Rights & President Obama

Reproductive rights are legal rights and freedoms relating to reproduction and reproductive health. The Presidency of Barack Obama began at noon EST on January 20, 2009, when he became the 44th President of the United States. 2.7/5

President Obama vowed to defend reproductive rights--what does that mean in practical terms? Read my piece:
President Obama pledges to support the fight for women's reproductive rights. That & more in tonight's NTK.
I don't know about you, but when I heard Mitt Romney's recent comment that President Obama beat him because of the many "gifts" he made to core constituencies like African Americans, Latinos and young people, I heard the clueless voice of the Republican right -- the same view Romney put forward in his infamous "47 percent" talk to funders in Boca Raton last spring. That's the narrative they want to believe -- not that the GOP is out of step with the direction of America, not that its reverse Robin Hood policies are offensive to most of the electorate, not that its attacks on women's reproductive rights and marriage equality and immigration reform are demeaning to most people, not that its regressive approach to regulation and shilling for the rich and big corporations are repugnant -- but that it won because it paid off blacks, Latinos, and the young. Not to be outdone, Bill O'Reilly, the Fox News host who accused me several months ago of being a communist, said last night he found Romney's analysis "righ ...
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, a rising Republican star who stumped for Mitt Romney repeatedly on the campaign trail, assailed the failed presidential candidate for his remarks to donors on Wednesday that President Obama was reelected because of “gifts” to minorities, young people, and women. “I t...
I'm a black male, and the amount of disrespect shown to President Obama, even in the face of the difficult scenario he faced in first being elected, is well-known by the black electorate. We looked at the Tea Party emerge, and all of the racist, often misspelled signs carried by their astroturfers. We looked at the outright lies that were told about the Affordable Care Act and the downright ugliness displayed to black members of Congress (being spat on). We saw a Congressman yell, "You lie!" at the president during a State of the Union address. We looked at the ugliness of the 2008 election and the downright filth of racism and bigotry that was released on the American electorate. We looked at the signs depicting a watermelon patch on the front lawn, photos altered to make Michelle Obama look like a chimpanzee, and the attacks on the President's daughters. We've observed every rightwing faux outrage at the First Family taking a vacation overseas and the fake pearl clutching that would never occur under a ...
Let's pretend it's all about the fact that President Obama is black. Let's pretend it's about our reproductive rights. Let's pretend it's about Islamaphobia. Let's pretend it's about homophobia. Let's pretend it's because Liberal = evolved and Conservative = uneducated & intolerant. Let's pretend our freedom isn't under attack. Let's pretend our liberties aren't being stolen via Executive Orders. Let's pretend Congress isn't being rendered useless. Let's pretend the foreign policy if the current administration isn't causing worldwide chaos. Let's pretend there's no difference between Progressive Democrats and Republicans "in name only". Let's pretend that America isn't being turned upside down, inside out and fundamentally transformed so that we'll barely recognize her soon. Let's pretend and maybe if we keep our eyes closed, our ears plugged, our brains disengaged, our mouths shut and our souls shrouded in disbelief, it'll all just go away.
Almost every woman I know is now fired up about getting President Obama a second term because the Republican Party seems determined to turn back the clock on Reproductive Rights. And that includes teachers and principals who despise the Administration's education policies.
By Fred Weber When I listened to this morally bankrupt Newt Gingrich give his “swan song” I came so close to throwing a shoe through the television. I was so angered that MSNBC even gave this irrelevant megalomaniac a chance to take the full 20 min. to make a self-serving speech. His speech was shameful and so full of lies and BS. When in the *** did our President Obama take away any of our freedoms…and what freedoms did he take away? President Obama hasn’t made any effort to take away our right to bare arms, nor our freedom of speech, nor any of our civil liberties. Name one right Newt old doughy-boy. The only Party that has taken away our freedoms are the Republicans or violated the rights of others. Cheney/Bush endorsed torture, the lied and distorted their way to a war with Iraq and murdered thousands of troops, probably millions of Iraqi citizens and caused serious injuries to our troops, yet they skated, not a criminal prosecution and Cheney duped Scooter Libby to fall on the sword for him. ...
