The SEVEN reasons why Lionel Messi could make £200MILLION Chelsea move: 1) There are suggestions the Argentine is unhappy with his pay packet at Barcelona. He signed a new contract in May that earns him £16m a year after tax - but his great rival Cristiano Ronaldo earns £19m a year at Real Madrid. This has apparently caused friction between Messi's camp and Barca. 2) Messi is the all-time top goalscorer in La Liga and the Champions League. But he wants to play in the Premier League and turning 28 in June he could feel the timing is perfect for a move to England. 3) Barca have slapped an astonishing £200m price tag on their star man. But according to sources close to the player, Adidas (Chelsea club sponsor and kit supplier) are ready to help fund the deal in order to steal Messi from their big rivals Nike (who sponsor Barca). 4) Cesc Fabregas left the Nou Camp for Chelsea this summer and is trying to persuade his close friend, his future lies at Stamford Bridge too. 5) Messi wants to live in London. Chelsea's Nathan Ake has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, with Turkish outfit Besiktas credited with interest in the young Blues starlet, that is according to the Daily Express. Jose Mourinho isn't particularly famed for bringing through youth players, however, it is believed the former Porto and Real Madrid manager is keen on keeping Ake in the first-team picture at Stamford Bridge – seemingly, this is due to Ake's versatility with the former Feyenoord player capable of playing at left-back, centre-back and in the midfield role. Ramos was so frustrated about the contract offer, he went and spoke to Madrid's former Sporting Director, Arrigo Sacchi, but after holding talks with him, he was urged to stay at the club. According to reports, Sacchi told Ramos: “You have to stay where you are. Look at Shevchenko and Kaka, who left solid situations for greater salary, and it cut short their careers. You’re in the right place at Madrid, so you should stay.” Despite being urged to stay, Ramos has been told by M ...

Chelsea v Tottenham: Blues do not intimidate me, insists Mauricio Pochettino Mauricio Pochettino has urged Tottenham to take the bull by the horns at Chelsea tonight. Spurs have not beaten the Premier League leaders at Stamford Bridge since February 1990 but Pochettino gave no hint that he would adopt a cautious style against Jose Mourinho’s team. As coach of Espanyol, Pochettino took on Real Madrid and Barcelona at their peak, famously leading his side to a 2-1 victory at the Nou Camp in February 2009, shortly after he had taken charge of Barca’s unfashionable city rivals. “They do not intimidate me,” said Pochettino, who has led his team to back-to-back wins in the League for the first time since the start of the season. “I have full respect for sides like Chelsea and Manchester City but I always believe we can beat them. “This is my mentality. It is difficult to play against sides of this quality but always, you need to believe you can win. That is what we want to show.” As Tottenham appr ...
The Chelsea keeper could be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge in January, with AC Milan thought to be keen on securing his services Petr Cech could be heading for Italy after Arsene Wenger insisted Arsenal are not interested in a January deal. Chelsea keeper Cech, 32, could be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge after losing his place to Thibaut Courtois. That has alerted the Gunners who were keen on signing the keeper before he went to Chelsea and Wenger remains a big admirer. But when recent links to Cech and stories were put to him, Wenger snapped: "no" when asked whether there was any truth in Arsenal signing the Czech keeper. That could leave the door open for AC Milan to make a move for Cech who could command a fee of around £7m with 18 months left on his contract. Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Monaco have all been linked with Cech who remains one of the best keepers in the world. But AC Milan are keen to get him in January and have made an enquiry with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho currently insis ...

1.What do you make of Jason Cundy's comment? 2.Do you see Cech moving to Arsenal? 3.Do you agree that Arsenal is not Premier League title rivals? Jose Mourinho wouldn't try to block Petr Cech from moving to Arsenal, according to ex-Chelsea defender Jason Cundy, because he doesn't see the Gunners as Premier League challengers. Cech, 32, was linked to the likes of Real Madrid, Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain in August after losing his number one spot to Thibaut Courtois, but Mourinho has continued to express his desire to keep the veteran at Stamford Bridge. "By signing for Arsenal, Cech could stay in London and he'd get regular playing time at a big club.” "Would Cech be a good signing for Arsenal?
CECH: CHELSEA WILL DECIDE MY FUTURE The Czech international still has two years remaining on his current contract Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has been under heavy speculation regarding his future at Stamford Bridge hence the return of Thibaut Courtois to the club. Courtois, who spent three seasons on loan at Spanish side Atletico Madrid, has removed Cech as Chelsea's first-choice keeper since returning to West London at the start of this campaign, starting in all the Blues' Premier League fixtures this season. The Belgian has also recently signed a new five-year contract at Chelsea, which has increased the chances of Cech making a move away from Stamford Bridge; with both PSG and Real Madrid highly interested in signing the 32-year-old. However, Cech has assured to the media that any decision regarding his future will be made by the club. "As concerns my future at Chelsea, it depends entirely on the club. Everyone is asking me what if and what will be," the Czech international said. "As a player, who has ...

Real Madrid would be willing to offload Gareth Bale to Manchester United if it means they can sign Eden Hazard to replace him. The Chelsea winger is high on Carlo Ancelotti's wishlist and, according to reports in Spain, he will try to tempt Louis Van Gaal into a record-breaking deal for Bale to fund the move. Los Blancos would be looking to receive more than they paid for Bale, and would probably ask for upwards of £90million. It is unlikely that Jose Mourinho would be willing to sell Hazard, so it would take an enormous offer to lure him away from Stamford Bridge. The Belgian spoke of his desire to play in Spain earlier in his career when Real Madrid first came knocking, but has recently said Chelsea are the only club he wants to play for. "I made the choice to join Chelsea because I knew I was going to play. This is my third year here. I can take pleasure by playing in this team." "I never said that if I left Chelsea it will be for Real Madrid. The only club that makes me dream is Chelsea."
Chelsea may sell Ramires Chelsea are willing to listen to offers for Ramires and could be prepared to sell him in January, Goal understands. Jose Mourinho has told Stamford Bridge chiefs that he would be prepared for the Brazilian to leave if a proven midfield replacement can be found. Spanish clubs, led by Real Madrid, are understood to be monitoring the availability of Ramires. The 27-year-old has struggled with injury and poor form this season, starting just three of the team's 16 matches in all competitions. He has been overlooked in favour of Premier League ever-presents Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas for the central midfield slots and has had to fight with the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Willian and Andre Schurrle for an attacking midfield position.
TOP FIVE PLAYERS REAL MADRID ARE TARGETTING IN English Premier League. 5) Eden Hazard (Chelsea) With reports that Real Madrid could be ready to sell Gareth Bale to Manchester United in a somewhat surprising deal, it is thought that Chelsea's wing wizard Eden Hazard would be their first choice to come in as a replacement. The Belgian international has been world class since his move to Stamford Bridge in 2012, and would certainly fit in well at the Bernabeu. 4) Raheem Sterling (Liverpool) Despite being in talks to sign a new contract at Anfield, Liverpool's exciting young winger Raheem Sterling is believed to be high on Real Madrid's list of potential transfer targets. The England international is an outstanding prospect and could be a real star of the future befitting of the famous white shirt. 3) David de Gea (Manchester United) Linked recently as Real's ideal replacement for the struggling Iker Casillas, Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea could be a top class signing by the Spanish giants after h ...
‘Now I understand why at the the age of 19, 20 or 21 he was the Arsenal captain. He is not the captain here because we have a different philosophy, but his personality and his profile is fantastic. His brain is connected to my brain during the matches. Chelsea manger Jose Mourinho has hailed Cesc Fabregas after his hot start to life at Stamford Bridge, and admits that the Spanish midfielder’s professionalism has exceeded even his own high expectations. Owing to his time in charge of Real Madrid, Mourinho was thought to have a tense relationship with the then-Barcelona star prior to this summer, but the Portuguese boss jumped at the chance to bring him back to England when it became clear that his services were no longer required at the Camp Nou. Arriving in June for £30 million, after Arsene Wenger opted against re-signing him for Arsenal, Fabregas has since been in fine form on the other side of London, recording a remarkable eight assists in 10 total appearances, moving Mourinho to praise not just ...

Manchester United are keeping an eye on Petr Cech’s situation at Chelsea as rumours persist that Real Madrid want to sign David de Gea, according to the Daily Express. The Red Devils could be set to lose their Spanish shot-stopper to Madrid in a £24m deal if recent reports are to be believed, and the club are said to be considering the sale if Cech is available. United would no doubt need a top class replacement for the in-form de Gea if he were to leave for the Bernabeu, and with Chelsea finding no place for Cech in their starting lineup this season, he could be an ideal signing. The experienced Czech Republic international has been linked with several clubs since falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, with Belgian youngster Thibaut Courtois taking his starting spot this season after a fine run of form in a three-year loan spell at Atletico Madrid. Cech will no doubt be unhappy at dropping to the bench after a long career as Chelsea’s number one, during which time he has shown himself to ...

IS JOSÉ BUILDING THE GREAT ENTERTAINERS FOR ABRAMOVICH? ~ HAVING SCORED 16GOALS BUT CONCEDED 7. Jose Mourinho might not appreciate the comparison but right now his Chelsea team more closely resemble Newcastle United in their heady days under Kevin Keegan than anything he has assembled before. Chelsea so far are the great entertainers&have scored&conceded more goals after 5 matches than any previous Mourinho team. Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw vs Schalke in the Champions League means Chelsea have found the net 16 times but had their own defence breached on 7 occasions. For a man so focused on tactical tightness that total is anathema to Mourinho, even if his side remain unbeaten. Only in his 2011-12 season at Real Madrid has Mourinho started a season anywhere like this 1 at Stamford Bridge. Back then after 5games in all competitions Real had scored 15goals&conceded 6. Mourinho: i may go back to mardrid. the Portuguese trainer left the Champions League holders after three seasons in charge to take over at Chelsea but has hinted that he has unfinished business in Spain Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has suggested that he would jump at the chance to return to former club Real Madrid . Mourinho spent three years in the hotseat at the Santiago Bernabeu between 2010-13, winning the 2012 Liga title and 2011 Copa del Rey. However, a failure to secure a Champions League trophy - Real were eliminated in the semi-finals in all three of Mourinho's seasons in charge - ultimately cost the Portuguese coach his job. Chelsea moved to bring Mourinho back to Stamford Bridge quickly and after a third-place finish in a campaign of transition last term, the Blues are red-hot favourites for this season's Premier League title. Though expressing delight at fulfilling a career goal in securing league titles in England, Italy and Spain, Mourinho has suggested he has unfinished business in the Spa ...
Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is planning to get Angel Di Maria to convince close friend Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Real Madrid next summer, Express reports. The conflict has also alerted Manchester City and Chelsea, with the Blues already putting aside £60million to lure Cristiano Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge instead.
RONALDO TO CHELSEA: Is the story nosense? Even when the Transfer Window slams shut, the rumour mill continues to churn. This weeks major story is linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a move to Stamford Bridge in a deal worth £60 million plus £290,000 per week wages. Chelsea allegedly feel confident of hijacking Manchester United’s proposed move for Ronaldo, who is destined to return to the club before he retires. Ronaldo himself remarked: “I love Manchester. Everyone knows that – I have said it many times. Manchester is in my heart. I left many good friends there, the supporters are amazing and I wish I can come back one day.” So in a week where he has said this, it seems bizarre for him to be linked to Chelsea. It is rumoured that Ronaldo might be unhappy about the transfer strategy at Real Madrid and he has won everything on offer in Spain, including the much coveted Decima. So a move away from Real Madrid in isolation isn’t completely impossible. The move to Chelsea seems very unlikely. Jose Mour ...

Central defender Raphael Varane has been unhappy with his playing time and wages at Real Madrid, and a move to Chelsea could be in his future. Reuters As manager Jose Mourinho said earlier this week, possessing two of the best goalkeepers in the world in Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois is a good problem for Chelsea to have heading into the new Premier League term. The Great One meant it more from a competition standpoint, with the Czech and 10-year Stamford Bridge netminder and budding Belgian 22-year-old pushing each other to greater heights. But now Mourinho’s phrasing has taken on new meaning, with the Blues leveraging the position battle into a possible deal for a young, top-flight defender. Mourinho has been enamored with Real Madrid central defender Raphael Varane well before he brought the French international to the Bernabeu in 2011, and now he could facilitate a move to London with Los Blancos keen on acquiring the 32-year-old Cech for their coming La Liga and Champions League runs, The Express ...

CHELSEA are ready to sell John Obi Mikel as they look to muscle in on Arsenal's move for Real Madrid and Germany star Sami Khedira. Blues boss Jose Mourinho is keen on adding another midfielder to his squad before the start of the new Premier League campaign, and with a £60million move for Juventus' Paul Pogba starting to look unlikely, the Special One is keen to land £20million Khedira. Chelsea have a number of players competing for places in the centre of the pitch, including former Gunners hero Cesc Fabregas, but one man who looks set to leave is Nigeria international Mikel. The 27-year-old started in just 11 league games last season, and reports in Italy claim he has been offered to a number of Serie A teams including Inter Milan for around £10million. Filipe Luis has signed for Chelsea in a deal worth £20million, according to reports. After months of negotiations with Atletico Madrid, it seems Jose Mourinho has finally caved in and paid full asking price for the man who he sees as a direct replacement for Ashley Cole. According to The Sun, Luis, 28, has agreed terms at Stamford Bridge and will compete with Cesar Azpilicueta for the left-back spot next season. The Brazilian full-back was instrumental in Atletico’s march to La Liga glory last season, and shone in their astonishing run to the Champions League final, which they lost in extra-time to Real Madrid. Luis will become Chelsea’s fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Croatian youngster Mario Pasalic.

Tottenham green-light Adebayor sale to finance £32m move for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku Reports claim that recently appointed boss Mauricio Pochettino is in favour of wiping Adebayor's extortionate £170,000 per-week wages from the books and remodelling his side around the youthful Belgian. Fabregas' final season in Spain ended in disappointment as Barca finished the campaign second behind Atletico Madrid, having failed to beat Diego Simeone's men on the final day when a victory would have seen them crowned champions. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has decided that Thibaut Courtois will be his number one goalkeeper from the start of next season - and has subsequently put Petr Cech on the transfer list. The Portuguese coach is keen to avoid a repeat scenario of what happened at his former club Real Madrid, where long-serving ‘keeper Iker Casillas was dropped to the bench in favour of Diego Lopez, causing a huge amount of unrest at the Bernabeu. This is according to well-connected Spanish newspaper Marca, who claim Atletico Madrid have reluctantly accepted Mourinho’s decision to bring back Courtois after he wooed the young Belgium international with two magic words: stater status. Courtois, despite arriving at Stamford Bridge in 2011, has not made a single appearance for his parent club, spending the last three years on loan with Atletico instead. The 22-year-old was not interested in returning to Chelsea unless he was guaranteed first-team football next season with the West London outfit. And after another wonderful ...

Spanish rivals Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid will lock horns in a battle to be crowned European kings, with the game live on Sky Sports 1HD. Diego Simeone's La Liga champions booked their place in the final after overcoming Jose Mourinho's Chelsea 3-1 over two legs, with all the goals coming in the Stamford Bridge leg after a goalless draw in Spain. Chelsea's campaign unravelled after the defeat to Atletico, as Norwich held on for a 0-0 draw in the following game to put a huge dent in the Blues' Premier League title bid. Schurrle, who scored in the final-day win at Cardiff City to ensure they at least finished on a high note, has promised Chelsea will 'come back stronger next season'. Atletico Madrid are genuine contenders for the UEFA Champions League trophy, judging from the ways they humbled a trophy hungry Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and the ease with which they earned a draw at the Camp Nou against a determined Barcelona side that had a season of trophylessness staring them in the face. Their consistency and dynamism worry me, and I urge Real Madrid to not take them for granted come 24th May. Madrid must not miss this once-in-a-decade opportunity to lift this season's trophy. We will not forgive them especially after missing the opportunity to win the La Liga.

Former Chelsea and current Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben is a transfer priority for Louis Van Gaal when he becomes Manchester United manager, reports the Guardian. The Dutchman has sent a wish list of signings to the Red Devils Chief Executive Ed Woodward and his fellow countryman features prominently. Van Gaal knows Robben well having managed the 30-year-old in the national team since 2012 and was also the man who brought the attacking midfielder to Bayern from Real Madrid back in 2009 for £22m. The boss has identified that creativity in the middle is a real issue for United currently, with the likes of Luis Nani and Ashley Young failing to impress. In Robben the 2013 Premier League champions would be able to rely upon a player who has been recognised as one of the best in the world over the last decade, winning trophies in England, Spain , Germany and his native Netherlands. The Dutch international is particularly well known to Blues fans having spent three years at Stamford Bridge between 2004 and ...

He's been left out of the World Cup squad, and left out in the cold at Stamford Bridge, so what is next for the 33 year old? Wherever he goes, he can almost guarentee first team football. He's been targeted by several big Premier League and European clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Real Madrid. This list goes on, with Monaco also showing interest. City aren't short of left backs, while Brendan Rodgers has shown strong faith in young left back Jon Flanagan this season. Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger needs a replacement for the injured Kieran Gibbs, though could Cole return to a club he left on such bad terms? Stranger things have happened. WORDS WITH: JOSE MORAIS When Jose Mourinho returned to Chelsea last summer, there was just one key person involved in the preparation of the first team who needed an introduction. The manager and his methods were of course well known at Stamford Bridge and assistant first team coach Steve Holland, goalkeeper coach Christophe Lollichon and first team fitness coach Chris Jones provided continuity from the preceding seasons. Returning with Mourinho were his fellow Portuguese assistants Rui Faria and Silvino Louro, who have been with him from prior to his first time at Chelsea. However there was one new face in the backroom team as this season commenced, another Portuguese with a wide football experience from managing teams on different continents, including a national side. He first met Mourinho in the early days of their respective coaching careers, and joined him at Inter Milan where he assisted in the winning of the Champions League and domestic league and cup honours, and at Real Madrid where league and ...

After a 0-0 stalemate in their UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg, Atletico Madrid prevailed 3-1 over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the second leg, to set up a clash with fierce rival Real Madrid in the final in Lisbon on 25 May (AEST).
The Dream Of La Decima is on for Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti has succeeded where Jose Mourinho failed as Real Madrid coach. Tonight, Bayern Munich were battered and destroyed before home fans at the Allianz Arena. Pep Guardiola has failed to re-enact the brilliance of Jupp Heynkes as his dream of a treble this season was shattered by a resilient Real Madrid. The focus now shifts to Stamford Bridge where another Madrid team will attempt to break traffic against a Chelsea team that will fill the bridge with luxurious buses hoping to qualify for the finals via penalties. There can't be a better final than the Madrid derby between Atletico and Real. I love this game and will like to see the game flow.
Interesting 2014; 1. Undertaker's streak ended 2. Arsenal is one step closer to end their 8 years trophy less streak 3. Atletico Madrid is gonna win Laliga after approximately 19 years later 4. Liverpool about to win the English Premier League after 25 years 5. Barcelona lost three games in a row after nearly 9 years 6. Mourinho lost a league game at Stamford Bridge for the first time 7. Guardiola lost to Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu for the first time 8. And nothing to say about Manchester United, despite of the above facts they're the one who's making all the headlines :P Next : La Decima FOR REAL MADRID PLEASE ;)

The Second leg of the quarter-finals bring to the limelight four of Europe's plum sides in the continent's elite club competition this evening. Its Jose Mourinho's Chelsea hoping to overturn a two goal deficit suffered at the Parc des Prince last week when they plot against the placid Laurent Blanc Paris Saint Germain. The second pairing of the evening brings to the fore nine times champions Real Madrid defending a resounding three goal lead when they face troubled Borussia Dortmund at the Westfalen stadion. Though PSG will be without talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic due to injury sustained in the corresponding fixture and also Marco Varatti, Les Parisians who will be itching to qualify to the semis since 1995 when a certain George Manneh Weah led them to such stage at the expense of the Nou Camp Giants, Barcelona, the French Champions will be really tested against Eden Hazard and co. The Blues did overcome similar margin against Napoli a couple of seasons ago when they produced the 'Stamford Bridge miracle', ...

Chelsea are looking tie down 22-year old Eden Hazard, who still has 3 years left on his deal with the Blues, to a bumper new deal, which will make him the club’s highest paid player and also extend his stay at Stamford Bridge to 5 years. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is a huge fan of the former Lille winger, who has had a stellar campaign for the West London club so far, and is doing all in his power to shield Hazard against the temptation of making a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona or even to cash-rich French Ligue-1 giants PSG. Hazard has scored 13 and assisted 7 league goals so far this season and has been a key figure in almost all of the Blues’ successes. Hazard too seems happy with life under Mourinho at the moment and maybe it is just the right time for the Blues management to act and tie the talented Belgian to a new deal. Hazard’s great physical attributes, trickery and top notch technical quality, are second to none, and the Belgian international wants to get even better and ...
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is the best-paid coach in world football, according to a new list released on Tuesday. French weekly sports publication France Football have published their annual rich list, which shows Mourinho is now out-earning his coaching nemesis, Bayern Munich's Pep Guardiola – who has the second-largest coaching salary in the world game. The Blues boss – who earns a cool €17m a year – had suggested he took a pay cut to return to Stamford Bridge last summer, but that assertion has been dashed by the latest index. Arsene Wenger is the next best-paid Premier League boss, receiving little over half that of Mourinho, while former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is enjoying a bumper pay day at Galatasaray, having left the Etihad last summer. Mancini squeezes into the top three, edging ahead of Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti on €14m a year. Despite receiving a €1.5m pay rise after quitting Paris Saint-Germain for the Bernabeu, Ancelotti - who was on the podium in l . ...

Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti's Madrid defeated Schalke 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu to advance 9-2 on aggregate and extend their long unbeaten run to 31 games. The build-up to the game at Stamford Bridge had been dominated by the return of Didier Drogba to the ground where he is still hailed as a hero and the Ivorian - scorer of the winning penalty when Chelsea beat Bayern Munich in a shoot-out in the 2012 final - was presented with a silver boot prior to kick-off. By Phil McNulty Chief football writer Comments (234) Manuel Pellegrini must reverse the course of his past history and prove he is not "spooked" by nemesis Jose Mourinho when Manchester City meet Chelsea in the FA Cup at Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Pellegrini has won only once in nine meetings as Malaga and Manchester City boss against the man who succeeded him at Real Madrid. And Mourinho's game plan as Chelsea completed the Premier League double over City with a 1-0 away win on 3 February was regarded as a tactical masterclass which left Pellegrini outmanoeuvred. City and Pellegrini have the opportunity to make amends for that first home league defeat this season by turning the tables on Mourinho and demonstrating the magnificent attacking football that has made them such a force at home. SEE ALSO: Chelsea latest: Mou on key to pushing Arsenal, former AM drug appeal The highly-anticipated talks between Roman Abramovich and Monaco owner Dmitri Rybolovlev are yet to take place, but Express claim the meeting is 'set'. article continues below There were a number of lucrative transfers that occurred during the summer market and, even though Falcao has spent less than a half season on the yacht-strewn French Riviera, Rybolovlev believes his nine goal return in 14 Ligue 1 matches coupled with the Colombian's heightened fame and the alleged interest Real Madrid has in him, ensures his valuation is now anywhere b ...
Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti admits he ‘tried to kill’ one of his players during his tenure at Stamford Bridge. The Italian guided Chelsea to the Premier League and FA Cup double during his first season in West London, but was sacked just a year later following a slightly more disappointing campaign. But while Ancelotti has enjoyed good relationships with players during spells at the Blues, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and now Real Madrid, he admits there was one unnamed problem player at Stamford Bridge. ‘We’ve never had any problems with the players, just one time at Chelsea,’ he said. ‘One player didn’t show respect and I tried to kill him but it wasn’t possible. ‘The player is the property of the club and sometimes you cannot do what you want.’ ABIDI

Essien: I’ve no problem with Mourinho The Ghanaian has rubbished claims that his relationship with the Portuguese has soured in recent weeks following his lack of playing time at Chelsea this season By Kent Mensah Nov 12, 2013 3:06:00 PM Michael Essieninsists all is well between him and Chelseamanager Jose Mourinhodespite his lack of regular first team action at the Stamford Bridge. Essien, who was on a season-long loan at Real Madrid last term, has made just two appearances in the Capital One Cup for the Blues since he and Mourinho returned to West London. But the Ghana international is adamant warming the bench has not bothered him since it is a situation every footballer is likely to experience in his career. “I am not worried to sit on the bench at Chelsea,” the 30-year-old told Accra-basedAsempa FM. “I am an experienced player to cope with this situation. “I will continue with my hard work and training and I hope my time will come to start games for Chelsea.” When asked whether Mourinho h ...

Swansea’s Laudrup was Chelsea’s preferred choice ahead of Mourinho News that may shock Blues fans. Despite the hero status Jose Mourinho has at Chelsea, it was actually Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup that the Blues approached first to take over as manager this summer. Mourinho came back to Stamford Bridge following a six year absence managing Inter Milan and Real Madrid and was well received by fans who had enjoyed the success that the 50-year-old had brought last time round. However, it turns out that the hierarchy at the West London club actually wanted Laudrup to take the hot seat, after the Dane had enjoyed a great first term with the Swans. “Someone from Chelsea wanted to know about my availability, but there was never anything concrete,” the 49-year-old was quoted by ITV. “Either way, I had already given Swansea my word that I would be not be leaving.” Laudrup guided the Welsh side to their first ever major trophy in 2012/13 when Swansea lifted the League Cup – beating Chelsea in th ...
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho made attempts for three of his Former Real Madrid players last summer, it has been revealed. Spanish transfer experts Fichajes.net say Mourinho made attempts for Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira and Fabio Coentrao. Chelsea's move for Ozil came in the final week of the summer market, with Real already in the middle of negotiations with Arsenal ahead of selling the Germany international. An attempt for Khedira was made earlier in the Transfer Window, but like Manchester United, they were given short shrift by Real. Mourinho also made a personal request for Coentrao, but that fizzled out to nothing with Chelsea chiefs pointing out Ryan Bertrand and Patrick van Aanholt being behind England left-back Ashley Cole at Stamford Bridge.
6 REASONS MOURINHO’s STRUGGLING Having endured a tumultuous few years at Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho returned to Chelsea and declared himself the ‘Happy One’. However, just a mere three months into his second tenure at Stamford Bridge all appears not to be well in: Here are six reasons why: 1 WILLIAM Chelsea made some substantial signings this summer – £61million worth of substantial, in fact. In the furore surrounding Manchester United’s apparent lack of cohesive transfer dealings, Chelsea’s own transfer wranglings were glossed over. While they signed, they didn’t sign well. They bolstered an attacking midfield that already had the potential to be the best in Europe. Maybe United’s transfer dealings weren’t so haphazard after all. 2 Romelu Lukaku Lukaku does of course come under the banner of transfer dealing. However, such was the size of this blunder, it deserves a line in its own right. Put simply, Lukaku scored 17 goals in 35 Premier League games last season for West Bromwich Albion ...
Champions League 2013-14: 10 things we are looking forward to Moyes at Manchester United, Guardiola at Bayern, Ancelotti at the Bernabéu, Mourinho at Chelsea, and Benítez at … Napoli? It's all change, but the Champions League is back So just how special are you this time, José? José Mourinho has spent the first few months since his return to Chelsea stressing how he is overseeing a young team in transition, as if offering the world a reminder that any silverware claimed this term should constitute a bonus rather than a necessity. Yet, as a manager who has claimed all the domestic trophies on offer, the chance to claim a European Cup for the London club will be enticing. It would be his third, after those won with Porto and Internazionale, and he would surely delight in achieving at Stamford Bridge what he could not quite manage with Real Madrid. Chelsea appear to have a formality of a group, and will remember what can be achieved in this competition against the odds after their own triumph in 2012. ...
Jose Mourinho, now that you have finally settled on your second stint at the helm of my club – Chelsea – allow me to lay our expectations to you. Off course, for the few years that you were away, the club had missed your services. That’s not in doubt. We loved you then and even loved you when you were gone. More so, even now, we love you and promise to love you even more in the days to come. However, let that not obscure the fact that we only called you back since we want results. You are the most loved Chelsea Manager of all time. You made a name during your first stay at the Stamford Bridge when you won the English Premier League (EPL) Cup for the club – the first since 1955. It was an outstanding achievement! A rare fete! And a triumph! But, you soon veered off the sanity path when you realized you were our treasure. Yes! You began insulting and infuriating anybody whom you disliked to prove that you were the boss. Off course, you were the boss. That was not in doubt. Nobody tried smarts on you ...
Mourinho, Mikel Fall Apart -Coach’s New Tactics Threaten Eagles Star Another angle has cropped up in unfolding reports about the likelihood of Super Eagles midfielder, John Mikel Obi staging an exit from Chelsea of England this summer, as EPL observers believe the Nigerian star will not fit into new tactics that are about to be introduced at Stamford Bridge by returnee gaffer, Jose Mourinho. This is sequel to observations that Mikel may not fit into the new approach Mourinho wants to introduce to the team, as the ex-FC Porto, Inter Milan and Real Madrid handler has declared that his second spell as Chelsea boss will be marked with an attacking approach. However, with Mikel known to have perfected the style of sting just in front of the back-four, in Mourinho’s famous counter-attack approach during his previous spell with Chelsea, soccer experts are now apprehensive of the former Lyn Oslo of Norway star’s ability to fit into the coach’s forthcoming new attack-oriented approach. It is now left to be ...
Edinson Cavani has reportedly agreed a move to Chelsea, with the fee believed to be around £50million, just below the Uruguayan striker’s Napoli buyout clause. Chelsea have been leading the way for Cavani’s signature since Manchester City baulked at Napoli’s valuation for the player, with Real Madrid also cooling their interest. Chelsea reportedly had an offer of €50m (£42.8m) plus Fernando Torres rejected, before upping their bid. Cavani would become Jose Mourinho’s second signing since returning to Stamford Bridge, after capturing the German forward Andre Schurrle last week. -tusHar
Spanish newspaper AS lead with the news this Tuesday morning that Chelsea are close to signing Edinson Cavani with last season’s top goal scorer in Serie A set for Stamford Bridge. The rumours have been rife for some time in the Italian media, the update from AS, which suggests no official offer has been made from Real Madrid, is significant due to the papers close relationship with Los Blancos. Chelsea are understood to have reached a personal agreement with Cavani whilst Real Madrid’s contact with the player has only been through intermediaries and no offer has been discussed. Roman Abramovich has guaranteed Cavani 9 million euros per season at Chelsea and the Europa League winners are set to begin negotiating with Napoli this week. The initial offer from Chelsea amounts to 50 million euros, which was rejected by Napoli. The Italian side are holding out for 63 million euros (Cavani’s release clause) but the Uruguayan hitman and his representatives believe a deal can be struck for 60 million. AS wa ...

If Cavani goes to Real Madrid, who should Chelsea turn to? Chelsea’s quest to bring in a genuinely top quality striker who can lead the line and score goals continues. Since the departure of Didier Drogba, the Blues have endured something of a striker crisis this term – neither Fernando Torres or Demba Ba were able to fulfil their promise of formerly top class 20-plus goals per season strikers. Now, with the return of Jose Mourinho to Stamford Bridge, the Blues will be hoping to bring in the very best quality available to get the Portuguese boss off to a good start next term. Chelsea had in recent months and weeks been linked with some of the world’s finest talent – the likes of Radamel Falcao, Neymar and Edinson Cavani. The former pair have, however, signed for AS Monaco and Barcelona, respectively, and whilst Cavani has yet to agree a deal officially, the signs are pointing at a move to Mourinho’s former club in the Spanish capital, Real Madrid. If the Blues lose out on yet another top striker ...

Jose Mourinho has a knack of bringing former players with him whenever he moves clubs. In the past, he took the best from his former Porto team to Stamford Bridge, and this season he loaned Michael Essien to help him out at Real Madrid. The tabloids are rumouring he will once again sign an ex-employee in the form of Sami Khedira, Madrid’s defensive midfielder. But is it an area of the squad that really needs improving? Chelsea already have Ramires, Frank Lampard, Oscar, Mikel, Essien, Kevin De Bruyne and Oriol Romeu who can all play in central midfield, and it seems pointless to add another body to the mix before reducing the roster first. Even then, would Khedira be a considerable improvement? He is consistent, dogged and determined, but his lack of quality on the ball is at odds with the Blues’ current emphasis on technique and flair. Mourinho is much better off giving a youngster, such as Romeu or Nathaniel Chalobah a chance in the first team.
Mourinho lays down the law to Blues (PA) Saturday 15 June 2013 Jose Mourinho will warn all of his Chelsea squad to do it his way next season or leave Stamford Bridge. Chelsea secured back-to-back Premier League titles under Mourinho's last regime in addition to winning the FA Cup and also the League Cup twice. Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who is very close to Mourinho, often lamented the rise of player power within the modern game and the Portuguese sees no issue with maintaining the image of the club during his second tenure after agreeing a four-year deal to return following his departure from Real Madrid. "What Sir Alex says in relation to football and management is doctrine, it is the bible, so if he says that (about player power) with so many years of experience, I think he is correct," said the new Chelsea boss. Mourinho, who won the UEFA Champions League for a third time when manager at Inter Milan after leaving England, continued: "There is something I say whenever I go to a ...

Chelsea and Arsenal are worried about losing out on summer target Stevan Jovetic as Manchester City have been given first refusal on the Fiorentina forward. According to the Mirror, Etihad Stadium officials are confident that the good working relationship built up with Serie A side previously will help them to secure a deal ahead of their rivals at Emirates Stadium and Stamford Bridge. Jose Mourinho’s second spell in charge of Chelsea is also reportedly to spark significant summer spend and the ex-Real Madrid boss was credited with an interest in the Montenegrin. However, both the Blues and Gunners may miss out as the report claims Manchester City’s signing of Matija Nastasic last season could be the key to a deal. The Citizens are confident this will mean they have the upper hand over Arsenal and Chelsea when it comes to negotiations over the £25million-rated star. [GMS] DanieL--

MOURINHO CHELSEA RETURN TO EARN HIM AMAZING £20M-A-YEAR Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Fri, 06/14/2013 - 03:16 3 Share on email Share on print Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will be swimming in money over his return to Stamford Bridge. France Football says Mourinho was already the world’s highest-paid manager — both inside and outside the dugout — while at Real Madrid, with about £10m in salary plus £2m in sponsorships from brands like adidas and Braun. But marketing experts believe his Premier League second coming gives him the chance to cash in further. Charlie Dundas, managing director for REPUCOM in the UK and Ireland, told The Sun: “Mourinho is in a very small group of managers who are bigger stars than some of their players. “The Premier League’s global reach is far greater than La Liga’s. “Any brand he is associated with will get exposure across 10 months of the year in over 200 territories. “You can’t buy that kind of advertising reach. 5 Chelsea Players Who Won't Fit the Jose Mourinho Tactical Blueprint BY JOE KRISHNAN (FEATURED COLUMNIST) ON JUNE 12, 2013 9,981 reads 24 Use your ← → (arrow) keys to browse more storiesPrevious 1 of 7 Next Richard Heathcote/Getty Images Jose Mourinho likes his players to fit a certain style of play, and in order to do that, they need to be the right fit for his tactical setup. Just looking at some of his signings at Real Madrid gives you an idea as to how Mourinho likes to operate as a manager. Fabio Coentrao, Michael Essien, Sami Khedira, Luka Modric and Mesut Ozil all joined the Portuguese genius at the Bernabeu and all fit the typical workhorse, energetic style of player he likes. And after being officially announced as Chelsea's new manager for the second time, there's no doubt that the 50-year-old needs to address the changes at Stamford Bridge. Florent Malouda, Yossi Benayoun, Ross Turnbull, Paulo Ferreira and Hilario have all left the club following the expiration of their contracts, but it se ...
Chelsea prepare to unveil Jose Mourinho as the Humble One 8 Jun 2013 23:13 As the Blues get ready to unveil Mourinho for the second time, don't expect the same old Jose Mourinho 2.0: The Humble One Chelsea FC/ Chelsea believe a new Jose Mourinho will besweeping into Stamford Bridge tomorrow, writes the Sunday People. When the Portugeezer’s second coming materialises in front of the world’s media, Blues chiefs reckon we will hear from a long-term planner, a man happy to collaborate with his bosses and keen to promote players from the club’s impressive youth system. A man less obsessed by football, relaxed to be back where he feels loved and slightly humbled by his relative failure at Real Madrid. Mourinho’s career has often consisted of shock-and-awe tactics, short-term success followed by internal disputes and a hasty exit. Not this time, insist Chelsea sources. Mourinho, who has a four-year deal, is already making plans to sign Gareth Bale NEXT summer and to shepherd brilliant youngster ...
Football's greatest firestarter is back... but is he ready for the new Chelsea? And so by popular demand: the Special One II. Jose Mourinho swaggers back to Stamford Bridge as a gun-smoked action man in search of his sequel, striding through wreckage as Real Madrid burns in the distance beside the smouldering remains of Inter Milan. Mourinho rarely goes quietly, and three divisive years at Madrid ended with a blaze of flashbulbs at the Bernabeu. Some have wondered openly about his state of mind but there will be no rest. It is straight to Chelsea, his homeland where a heroic reputation is utterly unblemished among fans even if, behind closed doors, people still talk of his less appealing methods of manipulation and control. Mourinho will squeeze the life from a club in pursuit of his own needs, according to his critics, and he will deliver charm and confrontation in equal measure. In return, his team will compete. You know what you’re getting with him these days but he will find subtle differences in th ...
