Guardiola: Torres perfect for Atletico The coach lauded Diego Simeone's decision to bring the former club captain back to the Vicente Calderon and believes they pose a threat to Bayern's Champions League chances By Miles Chambers Jan 16, 2015 23:36:00 Former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola believes that Atletico Madrid have hit the jackpot by bringing Fernando Torres back to the Vicente Calderon. Torres left La Liga for Liverpool in 2007, one year before Guardiola famously took the reins at Camp Nou, and returned earlier this month on loan from AC Milan having flopped at San Siro and Chelsea before that. Football pundits and fans were split over whether Torres would burden another club with his lack of goals, but he stunned arch-rivals Real Madrid on Thursday by scoring a double to knock the holders out of the Copa Del Rey at the last-16 stage. Guardiola, who now coaches Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, believes that the Spain international is perfectly suited to life under Diego Simeone's wing in Madrid. ...
UPDATES... Moyes: I'm more like Jose Mourinho than Pep Guardiola New Real Sociedad coach David Moyes has compared his management style to that of Jose Mourinho, while saying his new challenge is similar to that faced when he took over at Everton in 2002. Moyes has returned to football with the Liga side eight months after being fired by Manchester United less than a year into his contract at Old Trafford. The Scot takes over the Basque club with the team 15th in the Primera Division table, having won just two of their first 11 domestic games, while they were dumped out of the Europa League by FC Krasnodar in the qualifying stages. Moyes was asked at his unveiling on Thursday whether his style of management was closer to that of ex-Real Madrid boss Mourinho or Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola. He responded by saying that his "tough" approach made him more similar to the current Chelsea manager, and also took the opportunity to compare his new challenge to the one he faced when arriving at Goodison Park ...

*MUST READ* How Guardiola changed Messi's fate: It was May 2, 2009. The Santiago Bernabéu stadium, Barcelona against Real Madrid. The scene was set for Pep Guardiola to unleash his secret weapon. It was Friday before the match. Guardiola had stayed at the stadium to study his opponents. He spends two days analysing the team they are about to face, looking for strengths and weaknesses. The day before the game, he shuts himself in his office, puts on some gentle music and thinks about his approach to the match. Where should they attack their opponents? What is the best way to dominate? "I sit down and watch two or three videos. I take notes. That's when that flash of inspiration comes - the moment that makes sense of my profession. The instant I know, for sure, that I've got it. I know how to win. It only lasts for about a minute, but it's the moment that my job becomes truly meaningful.' It was 10pm and Pep was alone in his office. He sat in that dimly lit room imagining Messi moving freely across that e ...

Pep Guardiola has taunted Manchester United by claiming none of his Bayern Munich players wanted to join them this summer. United made approaches for Bastian Schweinsteiger, Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller, while Toni Kroos opted to join Real Madrid. Although United spent £151.3million on six players this summer, including a British record £59.7m on Angel Di Maria, Guardiola said they could not have afforded his stars - even if they had wanted to move to Old Trafford. "They don't have enough money," said Guardiola. "I saw they spent this kind of [big] money. "It's good for my friend Louis [Van Gaal]. I know all the players the clubs want, it just depends on the player. "If the player wants to stay, they stay. Bayern Munich will never push out their coach Pep Guardiola, club chief executive Karl-Heinze Rummenigge said in an interview published on Sunday. Rummenigge shrugged off suggestions that Germany's most successful side could struggle this season after their top players come back from their gruelling but triumphant World Cup campaign. There would be no fallout for Guardiola, he told Welt am Sonntag newspaper. "Bayern will never sack Pep Guardiola. I can put that in writing today," said Rummenigge. "Pep Guardiola. He will be our coach on June 30, 2016. At least until his contract runs out," the chief executive added when asked who would be coach at the end of the 2014-15 season. Guardiola's deal runs until mid-2016. In his first season, Guardiola won the German league and cup double and took Bayern to the Champions League semifinal where they were beaten by eventual winners Real Madrid. The newspaper highlighted how Bayern struggled after the 2006 and 2010 World Cups and the coaches -- Felix Magath and Loui ...

Spain's demise in sync with Barcelona's fall from grace The Catalan giants' suffered their worst campaign since 2008 - and their rise and subsequent fall in that period has coincided perfectly with that of the national side. It is hardly a coincidence. Spain's spectacular success between 2008 and 2012 runs concurrently with the heady heights of Pep Guardiola's brilliant Barcelona. So perhaps it should come as little surprise that, as the Catalan club have fallen into decline of late, so too have La Roja. Friday's shocking 5-1 defeat to Netherlands in Salvador was reminiscent of Barca's 4-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League last season. Nobody had seen it coming - not then and not now. There is no scapegoating of the Barca contingent taking place; many of Spain's stars were at fault. Sergio Ramos was well beaten for pace by Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben and proved to be some distance from the fine form he has shown for Real Madrid in recent months, Iker Casillas was at fault for one and per ...

The Italian coach has enjoyed a superb debut campaign in Spain, but will now be expected to build an era-defining team after Real Madrid claimed La Decima on Saturday COMMENT By Ben Hayward in Lisbon A season to remember. Carlo Ancelotti ends his debut campaign at Real Madrid with two trophies, the Copa Del Rey and the Champions League, vindicating the decision by president Florentino Perez to part company with Jose Mourinho last summer. But for the Italian coach, this must be just the start. Mourinho claimed the Copa in his first campaign in charge, but fell short in La Liga and in the Champions League. The Portuguese asked to be judged on his second season - and that brought a spectacular return in the Primera Division with 100 points to dethrone Barcelona after the Catalans had claimed three titles in a row in the previous years under Pep Guardiola. On the back of that success, Mourinho signed a new long-term contract in the summer of 2012. It was supposed to be the start of something special, an era-d ...

REAL Madrid could tempt Liverpool with a world record bid for Luis Suarez while Louis Van Gaal wants Mats Hummels and Bastian Schweinsteiger at Manchester United. This is Rumour Mill. REAL MADRID TEMPTS LIVERPOOL FOR SUAREZ Liverpool gun Luis Suarez might have told teammates he intends to stay at the club, but will the Barclays Premier League runners up be able to resist should Real Madrid come calling with $182 million? The Daily Mail – quoting sources within the Bernabeu – claims Real will bid that figure for the injured Uruguayan should Karim Benzema, who is chasing a substantial pay rise, not agree to a new deal at the Spanish club. Former Los Blancos president Ramon Calderon added credence to the speculation when he claimed Real Madrid could indeed go after the striker – who topped the EPL scoring charts with 31 goals this season. “Karim Benzema is a good player, but it is true he didn’t score as many goals as people thought (he should),” Calderon told talkSPORT. “Luis Suarez, no doubt, ...
Spain's defensive worries. Vicente Del Bosque had been expected to whittle his 30-man preliminary squad down to 23 players on Sunday, but the Spain coach elected instead to bide his time until the FIFA deadline for registration on June 2. Spain play Bolivia in a friendly match in Seville on May 30, and for that encounter Del Bosque has named a squad of just 19 players; Real Madrid and Atletico's Champions League final has earned players from those sides a week off. The midfield and forward lines have been the most scrutinised in the Spanish media; the question of whether Fernando Torres will travel and whether Diego Costa's recent injury woes during Atletico's final push have cost him a place have overshadowed doubts about Spain's defence in Brazil. Juanfran has had a standout season for Atletico but also limped from the field at the Estadio da Luz this past Saturday; the extent of his injury currently unclear. The back four is an issue for the reigning champions, who have rarely enjoyed the wealth of ric ...
PLAY LIKE REAL MADRID In soccer it appears that whatgoes around comes around. The domination of the well-drilled tiki taka possession teams has been so expertly picked apart in recent times that counterattacking football has made a major comeback. Possession, we now know, isn’t everything.Jose Mourinho gave a master class with Inter Milan back in 2010, taking apart Louis Van Gaal’s Bayern Munich side, but nowhere has the countering technique been better executed than at Real Madrid in the past few months.First there was the resoundingwin over Barcelona in the final of the Copa Del Rey, with a galloping Balegoal that has seen him nicknamed the Road Runner. Then there was the 4-0 demolition of Bayern, the heaviest defeat their coach, Pep Guardiola, has ever endured in European football. It seems Real’s quest for a 10th European Cup trophy, La Decima, is within their grasp.would make them even more vulnerable. With the pace of Ronaldo, Di Maria andBale, Real possess a counterattacking mechanism that tr ...
"I have read and listen from the Madrid media that Real Madrid has beaten and us, not only that but they have also won the Champions League." Pep Guardiola on 28/05/2014 About Real Madrid second leg game in Munich against Bayern Munich. Congratulations Pep, you have the mentality and the vision of a chess player.
That moment when football fans around the globe irrespective of their clubs they love but notably Real Madrid fans start branding Jose Mourinho a flop in football management because Carlo Ancelloti succeeded in delivering the Tenth Holy Grail (La Decima) for the Los Merengues where Jose Mourinho failed to in his three year quest at Santiago Bernabeu. But what many have failed to notice or must have remained ignorant of is Jose Mourinho also did a little to help Real Madrid lift the La Decima last night... 1. He stopped Pep Guardiola's Barcelona dominance. 2. He took them to three consecutive semi-finals when they always fail in the early knockout stages prior to Mourinho's appointment. 3. He made Cristiano Ronaldo better 4. He instilled that winning mentality they lacked for some few years back. **You can attest to the fact that this Dortmund and Bayern Munich team they eliminated on their route to the finals were not that strong to the ones Mourinho met during his reign...**
REAL BREAK BARCA TIE FOR EUROPEAN BRAGGING RIGHT After capturing 'La Décima', Real Madrid now have 13 major European trophies under their belt, making them the second most successful team on the continent outright, ahead of Barcelona, with whom they had been tied. Only AC Milan have tasted more continental glory, but 'Los Blancos' can draw level with them by beating Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup on 12th August. Real's roll call of honours includes ten European Cups (1956-60, 1966, 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2014), two UEFA Cups (1985 and 1986) and a UEFA Super Cup (2002). GUD NEWS 4 BARCA FANS. ,.Fc Barcelona have acted swiftly and hired ex-captain Luis Enrique as their new manageron a 2 year deal. The club directors met Andoni Zubizaretta, the sporting director earlier today and agreed to his recommendation of hiring Enrique as the new manager. Luis Enrique was a well loved player at Barcelona, who rose to become captain of the club despite the supporters’ initial reluctance considering he had also played for Real Madrid before joining Barcelona. His managerial career so far has seen him manage AS Roma and Celta Vigo. At Roma, he did not have a very successful time, as the club didn’t qualify for European football while he was the manager at Celta Vigo till last week, when he announced his resignation. Enrique’s first managerial role was at Barcelona B, when he took over the reins from Pep Guardiola in 2008 when Guardiola moved to coach the first team.
Bild is reporting that Mandzukic showed some sort of arrogance towards the players and Pep Guardiola and his actions at training group causes mayhem. That is the reason why he was expelled for the Pokal final against BVB. It goes on further to state that after our match against Real Madrid, Pep Guardiola held a locker room secret conference with the players and accepted all the blames and questioned his own tactics and asked for forgiveness. The players where so touched to his words, when Rafinha hugged him with tears but Mandzukic stood different and was giving some smiles which was like a "hooting" one. What's your take on that?

Pressure on Guardiola will be unbearable if Bayern lose cup final The Bavarians have gone off the boil in the last two months and fans and club legends alike have been dissatisfied with his tactics and selection ANALYSIS By Enis Koylu Bayern Munich's 5-0 thrashing over two legs by Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals sent shockwaves through German football. Last season's treble-winners were the favourites for the competition throughout the season but an untimely slip in form, together with some questionable tactical decisions from Pep Guardiola, saw them fail to reach a fourth final in five years. Had they overcome Carlo Ancelotti’s side, no matter how, everyone would have been more than satisfied with a campaign which saw them wrap up the Bundesliga in record time. But their humiliating Champions League exit has put extra focus on the DFB-Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. Should Bayern fail to complete the double, Pep will find himself under pressure the likes of which he ha ...
It turns out that Luis Suárez wasn't crying when he pulled his shirt over his head during that match against Crystal Palace, he was secretly communicating with Real Madrid. That blighter! After all that redemption. Liverpool fans won't be so fond of him now that he's off to sunny Spain for a cool £70m and they'll be even more worried if Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas are also allowed to leave Anfield. It's all falling apart! It's all starting to slip! Madrid plan to fund a move for Suárez, who famously made everyone forget his previous bad behaviour by doing some goals, by selling Karim Benzema . Having worked out that Olivier Giroud, Yaya Sanogo and Nicklas Bendtner aren't quite the standard required at the highest level, Arsenal are interested and while they're at it in Spain, they'll also look to bring Real Sociedad's Carlos Vela back with them. However Napoli are rivalling them for the signing of Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin, while Tottenham and Everton reckon they can beat Arsenal to Loic Remy. ...

Bayern Munich's home record against Real Madrid is P9, W8, D1, L0. The omens are good for Pep Guardiola's side.
Kaka Ilonga Emmanuel, soma pia mawazo haya!, nimeiba Yahoo Sports. DOES GUARDIOLA NEED A NEW TEAM IN ORDER TO SUCCEED AT BAYERN? The Spaniard has been made the scapegoat for the Champions League thrashing by Madrid, but the defeat showed that many Bayern players can't interpret the coach's vision The consensus among the majority of football fans and critics in the aftermath of Tuesday's humiliating 5-0 Champions League semi-final loss against Real Madrid was that Pep Guardiola was solely to blame for Bayern's failure. But the truth is that Bayern's surrender to Madrid was more due to individual errors than any overarching 'philosophical' failing. "The reason for the defeat isn’t related to the possession," Guardiola said after. "Football is played with the ball and then there are other things. If you don't play well and you defend set-pieces badly, that's just how it is." Yet Guardiola is being questioned. The real inquest should focus on the players and their suitability to Pep's plans. Look at the foo ...

Manchester United MAKE GUARDIOLA INQUIRIES BEFORE CONFIRMING Van Gaal Bayern boss Pep Guardiola's future is far from certain after a tumultuous week and the Reds are yet to rule out making a move for his services. The Bayern Munich manager has challenged the German giants with what amounts to a ‘back me or sack me’ outburst following their midweek 5-0 aggregate Champions League semi-final exit to Real Madrid. Despite steering Bayern to a run-away Bundesliga title Guardiola, a twice European Cup winning coach with Barcelona, has been stung by criticism from Munich’s honorary president Franz Beckenbauer. Beckenbauer claimed that ‘Bayern are not right’ and last month said that Guardiola risks ‘boring the fans’ with his passing style of football.Guardiola has responded: “The club must decide if the coach is the right one for the club. I won’t change my opinion about the club and the people who work here after one defeat. “I feel like a part of the club and will do my best with my ideas unt ...
Pep Guardiola has called on Bayern Munich to back him or sack him in a move which could delay Manchester United's appointment of Louis Van Gaal. Guardiola suffered a humiliating Champions League elimination at the hands of Real Madrid this week, losing 4-0 at home in the semi-final second leg, and his footballing philosophy has been criticised by Franz Beckenbauer and other senior Bayern Munich figures. Van Gaal is close to being appointed as the new Manchester United manager but if Guardiola's job in Germany is seen as being in doubt it could prompt Old Trafford officials to rethink their options Is pep the rght man or Van Gaal?

Pep Guardiola has challenged Bayern Munich to back him in wake of the heavy defeat against Real Madrid on Tuesday night
BREAKING NEWS !!! A new dimension to managerial rumours has developed. Pep Guardiola, the Bayern Munich Head Coach is in all probability going to be sacked at the end of this season. Having been absolutely invincible last year, Bayern got humiliated 4-0 at home by Real Madrid. The defeat has not been received well by the Bayern fans. The directors have spoken out about Pep's style of football and heavily criticised it even. Pep is said to have issued an ultimatum to the board to either back him or sack him. This new development is said to have put Man Utd board decision to appoint Van Gaal on hold. Which one of the two would you prefer ? Like = Guardiola Comment = Van Gaal ~SS
GBAM!!! Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola hailed on Friday what he said was a successful season despite the crushing 5-0 aggregate defeat by Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinals.
Some of dis so called journalists can be so disrespectful at times. Just because Pep Guardiola lost a Champions League match against Real Madrid they are now question whether he is the right man for the job and questioning his football philosophy. why question something that has made him so much successful? smh
Great post from a football forum following Bayern's loss to Real Madrid: "From the moment Pep Guardiola shook his hands with David Moyes at the Old Trafford touchline, Bayern's season began to unravel. Coincidence? I think not."
Pep Guardiola remains an inspiration for coaches and players, while there is no reason Carlo Ancelotti would want to leave Real Madrid for Manchester United, writes Henry Winter
“We need Franck Ribéry to do well against Real Madrid. He’s at his best when angry.” — Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola: "We need Franck Ribery to do well against Real Madrid. He's at his best when angry"
The German media questioned the role of Pep Guardiola as Bayern Munich’s defence of their Champions League trophy ended with a 4-0 home defeat to Real Madrid.
Pep Guardiola is defenitely overrated coach. When he faces good teams in semi-finals his strategy is hopeless. Barcelona FC - Bayern Munich 0-4, 0-3 ( 0-7 on aggregate ) Bayern Munich - Real Madrid ( 0-1, 0-4 ), 0-5 on aggregate All together 0-12 in 4 matches ( 0-3 on average ). Tika-Taka is nothing, Pep Guardiola is very average coach.
Guardiola likes possession-football so much that he actually asked his players not to score ... because that would turn the ball over to Real Madrid :P

Pep Guardiola admits his Bayern Munich side made too many mistakes as they were humbled by Real Madrid.
Thanks Real Madrid for eliminating Bayern Munich ! sorry for Bayern followers for being humiliated by heavily defeat from Real Madrid! Carlos Ancelotti proved that he is more experienced than Pep Guardiola!!! Hello
REAL MADRID ROAR POWERFULLY INTO FINAL Real Madrid blew Bayern Munich away to reach the Uefa Champions League final with a 4-0 second leg victory which secured a 5-0 aggregate success. Sergio Ramos took advantage of some woeful marking to head home twice from set pieces in the opening 20 minutes before Cristiano Ronaldo put the finishing touch to a devastating counter-attack in the 34th minute in a blistering opening half from the Spanish giants. Ronaldo added a fourth with a late free-kick and the only downside for Carlo Ancelotti's side, who will face either city rivals Atletico Madrid or Chelsea and former boss Jose Mourinho in the Lisbon final next month, was the needless booking for midfielder Xabi Alonso which rules him out of the showpiece. Pep Guardiola's reigning European champions had dominated possession in the first leg at Santiago Bernabeu last week, only to leave Spain with a 1-0 deficit after Karim Benzema struck. Any hopes they had of working their way back into the tie were obliterated by ...
Pep Guardiola: ' We conceded two goals from set piece, we play arwful .'' The Former Barcelona coach admits that yesterday's defeat to Real Madrid is the hardest of his career.
Pep Guardiola got a spanking last night. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo was in top form, and he showed himself once again to be the best in the business at the moment. Having scored 16 goals in the CL this campaign, he now holds the record for the most goals scored in a Champions League season, bettering Messi's record of 14. And Ronaldo still has a final to play, so hopefully he can get another goal or two and put the record further out of reach. It also means that he has now scored a total of 67 CL goals in his career, the same number as Messi and just four goals shy of Raul's record of 71. Though Ronaldo did it in 105 CL games compared to Messi who did it in 86 CL games, it is still an impressive achievement for Ronaldo, and both he and Messi will smash Raul's record this year. 50 years from now we will realize how fortunate we are to watch both these players at the same time. Now who do you want to take on Real Madrid in the final?
Pep Guardiola has been shown his rightful place in rude fashion. Fantastic. Forget about Atleti, they have overachieved beyond their wildest imagination already and reached the furthest they could ever have. What happened to Liverpool last weekend awaits them at the bridge tonight. The final contest pits two veterans of the game who know the opposing side so well. Ancellotti knows Chelsea inside out. Mou knows Real Madrid well. Lisbon cannot come fast enough!
At long last, Real Madrid can almost touch La Decima. This was an occasion when the Spanish club had been confronted by tension, the weight of history, curses and a Bayern Munich team that were supposed to pass them to death. Yet Carlo Ancelotti, Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos and, yes, Gareth Bale sliced through it all with a performance of such swashbuckling brilliance that Pep Guardiola's Bayern side were reduced to rubble.
Never been a fan of tiki taka. Also now starting to develop doubts on Pep Guardiola as coach. This is almost the same team which won treble last year under Jupp Heyenckes yet results are so different. Central defence pairing of Dante and Boateng is even worse than a kolkata 4 th division club central defence. Real Madrid were the better team and deservingly they won. Pep your real term in Bayern München starts next year. Its tougher to succeed success than failure. Having said that its a professional sport and one of bad days can happen. Won 3 trophies this season and final of the DFB Pokal left. This isn't a forgettable season though.
Pep Guardiola described Bayern Munich as "awful" after his team exited the Champions League with a 4-0 thrashing by Real Madrid
And they (Barca fans) said Pep Guardiola is the greatest ever football coach and Bayern Munich will rape Real Madrid in the semifinal for sure! Let's laugh at those stupids! :v. Please go home, Barca fans, and sleep peacefully for couple of hours, you all are drunk! Excessive drinking is injurious (Seven Up, Coke, Alcohol either) for body and mind! :3.
Bayern thrashed by Real Madrid. Pep Guardiola to Manchester United, perhaps?
So proud of my Real Madrid boys! Put a woopin on Pep Guardiola and za Germans!!! Hala Madrid!!!

FT: Bayern Munich 0-4 Real Madrid. First time Bayern has lost to any team by that scoreline since 1979. Will Bayern Munich sack Pep Guardiola after this horrendous performance?
The Dream of La Decima continues as Real Madrid C.F. make it to their first uefa cl final in 12 years. Carlo Ancelotti takes Real to the final,a thing José Mourinho couldnt accomplish. The villains of the 2012 Semifinals Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos ,who missed their penalties against the same opponent, become the heroes tonight by scoring 2 goals each. Cristiano takes his goal tally to 16 goals from 10 matches, creating a new record in the Champions League. And Whoever said that the German Football has overthrown Spanish football, its time to rethink again..! Pep Guardiola should be sacked for spreading SWAG Football and destroying such a beautiful team.. Final Score at Allianz Arena FC Bayern München 0-4 Real Madrid... Hala Madrid!
REAL MADRID VS Bayern Munich: Ol' boy! The Real Madrid that I watched tonight was on fire o~kaiii, they so reduced Bayern Munich. The Bayern boys started off so well...I still had hopes, even when Real Madrid scored the second goal. Mheeen, this na serious DOWN GRADING O~even SHOOTING STARS can not take that from anybody! SEXY Pep Guardiola...enough said*winks*!
And Bayern with the Pep Guardiola style of play and 64% possession in both legs have been defeated badly in the Semi Finals by Real Madrid. A scoreline unexpected with a 4-0 loss in Munich and 5-0 loss on aggregate for Bayern Munich strips them from the hopes of retaining the title and another treble. I miss the effective style of Jupp Heynckes here... :(
Real Madrid and pep guardiola are avenging barca 7 0 loss from last year 😂😂😂😂
Ribery off and Pizarro on? Pep guardiola has definitely got Real Madrid on his accumulator
Gracias, Real Madrid! Can anyone please explain - once again - to Pep Guardiola that football is won by the teams that score goals, not the ones that make a million useless passes? And also that being a coach at the best team in the world does not mean that you can destroy everything?

Jose Mourinho better watch out... Atletico Madrid really know how to park the bus They have already done it to Real Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan this season so it’s little wonder Atletico Madrid fans believe their team can pick up a 1-0 win on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge. If anyone can out-Chelsea Chelsea, then it’s the team with the meanest defence in both La Liga and the Champions LeagueDiego Simeone’s side have won 1-0 nine times this season, managing it at the San Siro and the Santiago Bernabeu. ‘We want to be annoying,’ says the Argentine coach. ‘We want to be a team that no-one can stand playing against.’ Sound familiar? No wonder when Simeone was asked to pick between Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho, when both coaches were plying their trade in La Liga alongside him, he plumped for Mourinho. Liverpool had that sinking feeling on Sunday when Demba Ba put Chelsea one up — there were still 45 minutes left but they knew the job in hand was bordering on impossible. In two o ...
Muller time: Guardiola needs to sacrifice possession for penetration and call on Bayern's shadow man The Bavarians head into their Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid needing goals - and Thomas Muller is the man to get them Under the radar: Muller often drifts into space unnoticed For much of the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu last Wednesday evening, reigning European champions Bayern Munich kept possession in much the way that Pep Guardiola likes his side to. They were neat, tidy and dominated territory. The only problem was they lacked any sort of incision, making little impression in decisive areas. And that's a big problem. Die Bayern, who have romped to Bundesliga success this season, were even fortunate to leave the Spanish capital with just a one-goal deficit. Had Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria had their shooting boots with them, then they may well have been two or three goals behind ahead of their Allianz Arena repeat. Possession is all well and good if it leads to ...
Champions League semifinal - Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid at Allianz Arena on 30 April 2014. Match starts at 12:30 am India time. It's the clash between two of the biggest spenders in club football. Real Madrid are worth 425 millions and Bayern are worth 314 million pounds in player values. Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola have been good with their respective teams but RM stands a better chance after the 1-0 lead in the first leg. Bayern were tactically naive in the first leg where RM played without Gareth Bale and CR without full fitness. Will the Bavarians get the two required goals and prevent RM from scoring that 1 away goal? Real Madrid: Iker Casillas; Marcelo, Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Dani Carvajal; Ángel di María, Xabi Alonso, Luka Modrić; Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale. Bayern Munich: Manuel Neuer; David Alaba, Dante, Jerome Boateng, Philipp Lahm; Javi Martínez; Franck Ribéry, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Toni Kroos, Arjen Robben; Mario Mandžukić.

Bayern Munich get their shooting boots on as Pep Guardiola prepares to attack Real Madrid in Champions League
Bayern boss Pep Guardiola praised the strength of Real Madrid ahead of Wednesday's C League semi-final second leg between the two sides.
Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola is counting on Frenchman Franck Ribery's anger to power them past Real Madrid in their Champions League semifinal second leg on Tuesday.
Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola says that he does not expect Real Madrid to play for the goalless draw that would take them into the Champions League final when the teams meet at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday. Real lead 1-0 on aggregate after Karim Benzema scored the only goal of the semi- final first leg last week in Madrid. "I cannot imagine that (Real coach) Carlo Ancelotti will set up his team in such a way as to just keep the result," said Guardiola "That would be difficult to maintain. "Real are a quick team so we always have to be positioned well when we lose possession. The best is to keep them a long way away from our goal. Ur comment young gunz
Monday morning football rant. So now Pep Guardiola is being questioned about the UTD job? I think they need a reality check here. Why would you leave Bayern Munich for Manchester UTD. absolutely ridiculous. Why would Ancelotti leave a team with Bale and Ronaldo in it at the famous Real Madrid where you have Zidane as an assistant to go to UTD? Yet again, ridiculous. Mourinho? You have got to be joking. He is Chelsea through and through. The media saying stick with Giggs. Yes, please stick with Giggs. From the interviews I have seen Giggs sounds like he has as much charisma as Paul Scholes who wouldn't be out of place sweeping up in a kebab shop(Yes he is a great player). I just love the arrogance that they actually think everyone wants that job. No they dont. You have no Champions League and you think you will attract great players to your club with a unproven manager in Giggs.
: : Bayern's Boss Pep Guardiola: "We did everything we could to beat Real Madrid" - Bayern Munich...
GRAHAM HUNTER: If you didn't put a common-sense filter on some of the nonsense spoken after Real Madrid beat Bayern Munich 1-0 in last Wednesday's Champions League semi-final, you'd be left wondering: 'Did Barcelona really win 15 trophies under Pep Guardiola?'
Pep Guardiola: “I’m a bit disappointed with the first half. Our fans don’t deserve to see a half of football like that. We were better in the second half. The win is obviously good for our mood as we prepare to face Real Madrid. I have total faith in my team and I hope we can pull together and do it.”
Pep Guardiola: "There is no better team than Real Madrid." (Goal) your love make me strong your hate make me unstoppable :D
Former Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova has died of throat cancer at the age of 45. Vilanova led the Catalan club for a season after taking over from Pep Guardiola, but was forced to resign last summer because of ill health. Vilanova led Barca to their highest ever points total for a La Liga season during his single season in charge, their 100 points a joint record for the division with Real Madrid.
MY TRIBUTE TO Tito Vilanova Rest in peace to one of my most respected Barcelona coaches, the one who was mostly behind the tactical success of Pep Guardiola, together as a team, they built the best football team in history. He also won La-liga in his one year reign as barca coach, and in the process equalling the 100 points reached by Real Madrid. He was different He was intelligent He was dynamic He was always conservative but analysing Today, he is gone Too soon Too young Too sad At just 45yrs Barcelona history will never be complete without you. Goodbye my coach, Goodbye Tito Vilanova I for one will miss you dearly.
Tito Vilanova assistated Pep Guardiola in Barca's most succesful spell. He then took charge when Pep left. They made their best ever start in La Liga in the 2012/13 season winning the league 15 points in front of Real Madrid, despite having treatment for cancer which had come back for the second time. He left Barca at the end of that season. 45 is no age. Thoughts go to his family. Rest in peace Tito.
"Possesion doesn't win games", "Possesion doesn't win titles", "Possesion doesn't score goals".. As always, The minute a Pep Guardiola team loses people come out of their holes and say those type of things.. Let's look at the facts.. OK? Top of the EPL league: Liverpool, CFC, City, Arsenal, Everton, Spurs.. EPL possesion leaders: CFC, City, AFC, Spurs, Liverpool..(Everton 8th with over 50% possesion).. Top of La Liga: Atletico, Barca, Real, Athletic, Sevilla.. La Liga poss. leaders: Barca, Athletic, Real, Atletico is 7th, Sevilla 10th (Both just under 50%).. At the middle of this season.. An article about the top teams in Europe showed that ONLY Atletico Madrid (who were 2nd in La Liga at the time) had less than 50% possesion out of the top 20 teams in Europe.. Not enough? Real Madrid scored the most goals in Europe the past few years.. They were ranked 2nd or 3rd in posssesion average.. Barca who won 2 CL, 4 La Ligas and many other titles in the past 5 years led Europe in Possesion.. Bayern who were AMAZ ...
I don't know what all the fuss is about. The score is 1-0 and not 4-0 as is being perceived. Yes, there were some tactical errors, yes, there were some flaws, but still, the team has managed to keep the game alive. Pep Guardiola is one of the greatest managers in the world and he has over achieved considering that this is just his first year in charge. His tactics and the team's capability can very well turn the tie on its head. I cannot be the only one who saw the Real Madrid defenders huffing and puffing with fatigue, Cristiano Ronaldo trying to calm his team mates' nerves as they could not believe how easily they were getting played with! Now, tell me, if Bayern scores 1 and the match goes into extra time, who would be at an advantage? The frustrated Spaniards who could not even touch the ball for the 90 minutes or the 'boring' Bavarians who kept their composure all night long? Is our team really that discouraging that a 1-0 defeat makes all of us herald a string of abuses at them and especially at the ...

Sir Alex Ferguson will be consulted over David Moyes’s successor at Manchester United, with Carlo Ancelotti leading a three-man shortlist of candidates to become the new manager at Old Trafford. With Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola and Borussia Dortmund’s Jürgen Klopp ruling themselves out of contention for the position within hours of confirmation of Moyes’s dismissal on Tuesday, United remain determined to recruit a proven manager with experience of winning major trophies. Ryan Giggs, who has been appointed interim manager for the final four games of this season, will not be considered as a permanent successor to Moyes, but the 40-year-old is regarded as having a role to play under whoever is handed the job at United. Real Madrid coach Ancelotti is understood to be the favoured candidate among senior figures at Old Trafford, however, with Holland coach Louis Van Gaal and Atlético Madrid’s rising star Diego Simeone making up United’s hit-list.
Pep Guardiola foresaw this Tuesday the collision of Bayern home of the Real Madrid, wanting that Cristiano Ronaldo plays. "Let's hope Ronaldo can play. Us we played for the followers and the followers they want to see the best ones. And one of the better it is him. If it doesn't play, it will play other with different characteristics. The players of the Real Madrid run a lot. Before they had a, later two and now they have four", he/she affirmed the Spanish technician in press conference in Santiago Bernabéu. Guardiola is invincible in Bernabéu but didn't attribute special importance to the facto: Did I "never lose in Bernabéu? That it was with other club, in another time, in another situation. He/she doesn't have to do anything. To win we have to do one very good exhibition. That is always I need front to the Real Madrid and still more in a stocking-final one." The technician was questioned on Messi and after a first hesitation in to answer, there he/she gave his/her opinion on the Argentinean, his/her ...

who is who in tomorrow's Champions League last 8? Bayern Munich There has seldom been a more dominant football team in recent years than this current Bayern Munich outfit. Pep Guardiola has seemingly built upon perfection since replacing the all-conquering Jupp Heynckes last summer, leaving many suggesting a back-to-back Champions League triumph is something of inevitability. They remain a united machine of a team, with no stand-out stars taking the attention away from what is a model outfit. Bayern were the one team nobody wanted in Friday's draw and their pairing with an under-achieving Manchester United side means that their status as favorites has only strengthened. REAL MADRID Real Madrid have been chasing La Decima for 12 years now, and while they have reached the semi-finals on three occasions since their last win in 2002, they have rarely looked as destructive as they have at times this season. The business end will present them with tougher fixtures than those they have negotiated so far in the C ...
Saints rumours: Sport Witness say Chelsea will pay £50m for a double signing of Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana. Gianluca Di Marzio, the guy who broke Pep Guardiola to Bayern Munich, has claimed that Chelsea are looking at the Saints double swoop. With the news breaking in Italy it sounds like there's certainly some agent leaking going on, it's just difficult to tell who that agent is connected to. And there is increasingly strong speculation that Real Madrid are in the frame for Shaw.
By Ben Hayward | Spanish Football Writer TheClasicois back. Real Madrid and Barcelona battle it out once again in the famous fixture on Sunday, this time with La Liga at stake and, as usual, their hopes rest respectively upon the shoulders of the world's two finest footballers: Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Cristiano and Leo meet for the 21st time in aClasicoclash since the Portuguese moved to Madrid from Manchester United in 2009 for what promises to be another intriguing installment of the pair's compelling conflict. But which of the two has peformed better in their meetings over the past five seasons? There was little joy for Ronaldo in his first campaign in Spain. The Portuguese returned from injury to face Barcelona at Camp Nou in La Liga, but Manuel Pellegrini's side lost out to a Zlatan Ibrahimovic volley in a tight encounter and Messi netted the opener in the Primera Division clash at the Santiago Bernabeu later in the season as Pep Guardiola's side won 2-0. The teams' next meeting was much ...

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is the best-paid coach in world football, according to a new list released on Tuesday. French weekly sports publication France Football have published their annual rich list, which shows Mourinho is now out-earning his coaching nemesis, Bayern Munich's Pep Guardiola – who has the second-largest coaching salary in the world game. The Blues boss – who earns a cool €17m a year – had suggested he took a pay cut to return to Stamford Bridge last summer, but that assertion has been dashed by the latest index. Arsene Wenger is the next best-paid Premier League boss, receiving little over half that of Mourinho, while former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is enjoying a bumper pay day at Galatasaray, having left the Etihad last summer. Mancini squeezes into the top three, edging ahead of Real Madrid Head Coach Carlo Ancelotti on €14m a year. Despite receiving a €1.5m pay rise after quitting Paris Saint-Germain for the Bernabeu, Ancelotti - who was on the podium in l . ...

I just finished talking to one of the staunch Barcelona fans I know. He told me a lot of things concerning Barca. Some of them are how much Barcelona misses Pep Guardiola. Tata Martino isn't the right coach for Barca. How he doesn't want Barcelona to play Bayern Munich anytime now. How eager he wants Real Madrid to be paired with Bayern Munich in the UCL Quarter Finals. A lot of them which I quite disagree with some of his suggestions. He also told me Arsenal will not breath at Allianz Arena because they got no class to stand us but I told him because of precedence I'll not comment on this till tomorrow 9:30 pm.
Another facts post for you guys. Don't miss it. Most probably the best post and informative post of the day. . Fact-1: Real Madrid is now unbeaten for 29 games (24 wins, 5 draws) in all competitions since October. Real Madrid have scored 85 goals, conceded 19 goals, and kept 18 clean sheets in the meantime. Fact-2: Real Madrid is on the top of the La Liga now (Real Madrid- 67 points, Atletico Madrid- 64 points, Barcelona- 63 points with 11 matches remaining each). Fact-3: After the El Clasico, Real Madrid were six point behind the then Liga leading team and their arch rival team Barcelona, and now Real Madrid are three points ahead of their city rival Atletico Madrid who are in the second place of the Liga, and four point ahead of their arch rival Barcelona. Fact-4: If Real Madrid manage to win all remaining 11 Liga games, they will have 100 points again and will become the only team to win 100 points twice. Fact-5: El Clasico is only 13 days to go. Fact-6: Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid has touched the ...
Bayern Munich appoints Pep Guardiola and they are runaway winners in de Bundesliga, also looking good to make de record of winning de champs league again. Real Madrid appoints Carlo Ancelotti and are on top of La Liga, also looking as strong as ever to complete La Decima dis season. Chelsea appoints Jose Mourinho and are 9 points clear on top of de Premier League, also a very formidable side who can go all de way in de champs league. Even Napoli, Galatasary and Fernabache with perhaps low budgets made bold decisions to bring in world class coaches Rafael Benitez, Roberto Mancini and Claudio Ranieri respectively and these clubs are doing fairly well in their respective leagues. Now AC Milan, Manchester utd and Barcelona are scratching their head for appointing amateur coaches who have less or no experience in top flight European football and the only thing they can offer their fans dis season is heartbreaks and uncertainty. AC Milan are languishing in the 2nd half of serie A cos Clarence Seedorf doesn’t ...

Gerard Pique and Gerardo Martino both played down the potentially explosive impact of another ‘Copa clasico’ final after Barcelona’s 1-1 semifinal second leg draw at Real Sociedad sent the Catalan side through 3-1 on aggregate to meet Real Madrid in this season’s Copa Del Rey decider. and Real Madrid last met in the Copa Del Rey final in 2011, when Los Blancos triumphed. ENDTomas: Clasico confirmed • Rigg: Clasico awaits Real • Train: Madrid stroll into final The “storm of clasicos” in 2011 saw the rivalry between the two reach a nadir. With Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola on the benches, Madrid won a scrappy Copa Del Rey final at the Mestalla through a Cristiano Ronaldo header, but Barca won La Liga and progressed to the Champions League final after two controversial semifinal games -- leading to Mourinho claiming a conspiracy reaching as far as UNICEF had denied his side. This year’s Copa final is set to return to Valencia, and to be played in April, on either Friday 18 or Saturday 19. ...

Xavi attacks Mourinho: His teams do not leave a legacy The Spain star slammed the Former Real Madrid and Inter boss' style of play, while also criticising Roberto Di Matteo’s Champions League-winning Chelsea side.. Barcelona midfielder Xavi has launched another attack on Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, hitting out at ‘The Special One’s’ footballing philiosophy. The Spain international, who was regularly critical of the Portuguese while he was in charge ofClasicorivals Real Madrid, insists Pep Guardiola and Johan Cruyff are examples of coaches who want their sides to play football in the right way. “Pep Guardiola is an important person for me - Jose Mourinho is a coach who focuses only on results,” Xavi toldPanenka magazine. “He says he is ‘The Special One’ because he won this and that in so many countries but I do not like the way his teams play. “Who remembers the Inter side who were champions of Europe? For me, he has not left a legacy, unlike Cruyff has in the Netherlands.” Xavi was . ...
TO UNITED,MADRID & CHELSEA FANS. I think Manchester United fans must start respecting Barcelona FC now. Barcelona FC also faced similar challenges in 2007/2008 under Frank Rijkaard. We placed 4th on the league log behind Real Madrid,Sevilla and Villareal in that order. Under the technical expert of Pep Guardiola,Barcelona overcame its challenges and won a world record 6 officials trophies the following season by introducing the likes of Pedro,Pique,Busquet, Alves etc into the team. Everybody can now attest to the achievements chalked by these players since 2008/2009 season. (16 trophies and still counting) Though Barcelona has not been in good shape for the past 2 seasons compared to the days of Guardiola yet we have never lost 5 league games in a season. We are still dominating La Liga and Europe. That is a mark of a CLASS Now back to Manchester United, Why can't you do same but rather keep slipping?? Now to Manchester United, Real Madrid and Chelsea.Ata point in time you had great team than any team in E ...
Chelsea refuse to give up the battle for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski. Lewandowski is expected to move to Bayern Munich at the end of the season. But El Confidencial says Chelsea and Real Madrid are preparing to test Dortmund's resolve in January. Indeed, the paper suggest that while Real Madrid consider Lewandowski a potentially cheaper alternative to Liverpool's Luis Suarez or Manchester City's Sergio Aguero they are not willing to match Chelsea in the matter. Jose Mourinho, on the other hand, senses a bargain and an opportunity to get one over on old rival Pep Guardiola - now at Bayern - and is prepared to tell Dortmund to name their price for Lewandowski in January - and meet the player's wage demands - to pull off an unlikely coup.
TOWARDS World Cup 2014: Keshi To Adopt Spain’s Style -Reveals Encounter With Del Bosque As strong hint has emerged that the Super Eagles may adopt the tiki-taka playing style of Spain at next year’s World Cup, as Nigeria’s Head Coach, Stephen Keshi has admitted that the is an avowed fan of The Amada’s current handler, Vicente Del Bosque. The Former Real Madrid of Spain gaffer has perfected the ‘passing-game’ approach to soccer tactics that was used to great success by La Liga rivals, ex-Fc Barcelona coach, Pep Guardiola and by Arsene Wenger at Arsenal of England, and Keshi now appears ready to go the same way of Del Bosque heading into next year’s Mundial in Brazil. This much was revealed by the eagles’ handler himself, as The Big Boss has disclosed that he learnt invaluable lessons from Del Bosque and says his alliance with the experienced trainer has rubbed off positively on his development as a coach. The 62-year-old Spanish trainer has been in charge of the Spain squad since July 15, 2 ...
Barcelona v Real Madrid: Five of El Clasico's most memorable moments ahead of Saturday's monster clash There have been some unforgettable El Clásico moments spanning from the first game between Real Madrid and Barcelona in 1902 to the last game between the teams now over 7 months ago. Given the frequency of them over recent years, this has felt like an eternity. Here, in no particular order, are five memorable moments from the meetings in the modern era…. 5. The one with the “Calma, Calma…” It was the game with everything on the line. Pep Guardiola told his Barcelona players lose or draw and the La Liga title was heading to Real Madrid, carried in the hands of José Mourinho. With just 5 games remaining Barca had cut the gap down to four points, with only five games left. An early blow was Madrid taking the lead through Sami Khedira, and it wasn’t until with 20 minutes remaining that Barca finally found the breakthrough. Alexis Sánchez’s goal was futile however, for Madrid’s other giant Po ...
ELCASICO.THE STORY SO FAR: Fc Barcelona have scored, shot on target and possessed the ball more than Real Madrid But look out for Madrid in the last quarter of an hour - and they're also comeback kings They do say that it matters not a hoot what kind of form Barça and Real Madrid have shown prior to a clásico. In these games, the formbook goes out of the proverbial window. But it doesn’t hurt to have a glance at their recent form ahead of the clash of giants at the Camp Nou. So here we analyse their stats in the first nine games of the Liga season. • Barça getting the goals. Not only have FCB scored the most goals out of all 20 teams in the first division, but they have also leaked the fewest. Real Madrid are third on both counts, each time a place below Atletico, with 19 goals for and nine against. • FCB taking the chances. Fc Barcelona is the most effective team in the tournament, having turned 22.4% of their shots into goals, followed by Atlético Madrid (19.1%) and Villarreal (17.4%). Real Ma ...
Preview: El-Clasico As Barcelona and Real Madrid prepare to clash in the Clasico, this writer explains why this could be an extra-special match Tactically, Saturday’s clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid is surely the least predictable Clasico for years. In recent times, it’s been easy to predict the shape of the game – the two clubs met 17 times over the last three seasons, and the battles become familiar. Besides, the favoured playing styles of Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho were so distinct that their strategies were obvious: Barcelona would dominate possession, while Madrid would play a reactive game, usually in a 4-2-3-1 system. This time around, things are less certain. Barcelona have a new coach in Gerardo Martino, who has a more pragmatic coaching style, even if he’s embraced the club’s traditions. He is yet to coach a game of this magnitude, however, and his approach could change. Real Madrid, too, have question marks ahead of Carlo Ancelotti’s first Clasico. He’s used a variety ...
LATEST. NEWS: AHEAD OF THE EL-CLASICO New faces add fresh twist to 'Clasico' With the world's biggest stars and two richest clubs on show, it is no surprise that when Barcelona and Real Madrid meet the world stops to take notice. In recent years though the fixture has become less of a treat with 17 meetings between the two in the past three seasons alone. However, on the brink of their first clash this season on Saturday there is an excitement and freshness brought by the addition of new cast members to the drama that El Clasico almost never fails to deliver. The protagonists remain the same. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have dominated this fixture as they have practically all others since the Portuguese joined the four-time World Player of the Year in Spain four years ago. Should Messi find the net at the Camp Nou on Saturday he would surpass Madrid legend and honourary president Alfredo di Stefano as the all- time leading scorer in meetings between the two. Ronaldo, meanwhile, is soon catching up ...
Zinedine Zidane has said he would choose his former France international teammate Franck Ribery over his current Real Madrid charge Cristiano Ronaldo if he were picking the 2013 Ballon d’Or winner. • Ribery targets Ballon d'Or Ribery is hotly tipped to take the prize given his key role in Bayern Munich’s Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB Pokal triumphs last season and his impressive performances under new coach Pep Guardiola this term.
The second instalment of Matchday 2 of the Uefa Champions League saw Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain – who put in eye-catching displays against Manchester City, Copenhagen and Benfica respectively – all record a second success in a row on Wednesday evening. Juventus, meanwhile, were held 2-2 at home by Galatasaray, while Manchester United also drew away at Shakhtar Donetsk. The big match Manchester City 1-3 Bayern Munich Goals: Alvaro Negredo 79 (Manchester City); Franck Ribery 7, Thomas Muller 56, Arjen Robben 59 (Bayern Munich) Pep Guardiola may well have provided the ideal response on Wednesday to those sceptics who failed to see what he could add to the reigning European champions. Forced to watch Bayern Munich put on a passing masterclass worthy of Barcelona at their peak, Manchester City spent most of the match simply chasing after the ball. In fact, the Final Score somewhat flattered the Citizens. Franck Ribery’s low drive, Thomas Muller’s well-timed run and finish, and A ...
Bayern leave City chasing shadows 03 October By Justin Palmer London - Holders Bayern Munich left Champions League aspirants Manchester City chasing shadows with a 3-1 win on Wednesday to serve notice Pep Guardiola will leave no stone unturned to re-establish their continental dominance. Franck Ribery, Thomas Mueller and Arjen Robben scored as Bayern left shellshocked City chasing shadows for much of a one-sided Group D encounter that ended the Premier League team's five-year unbeaten run at home in Europe. Cristiano Ronaldo's hot form continued with a double in Real Madrid's 4-0 rout of FC Copenhagen but he was not the only revered striker among the goals with Zlatan Ibrahimovic also netting twice as Paris St Germain brushed aside Benfica 3-0. Both, though, were outshone by Greece forward Kostas Mitroglou who grabbed a hat-trick in Olympiakos Piraeus's 3-0 romp at Anderlecht. A dramatic finale in Turin saw Galatasaray, with manager Roberto Mancini taking charge for the first time, *** a 2-2 draw with ...
PELLEGRIN TALKS ABOUT TODAY'S CLASH WITH CHAMPIONS Bayern Munich = Guardiola brings Bayern, the German and European champions, to the Etihad Stadium in the second round of fixtures in Group D this week. Pellegrini is still to get the better of the Former Barcelona boss, with whom he clashed regularly in Spain. Barcelona beat Pellegrini's Real Madrid twice during the 2009-10 season, when the Catalans pipped the Bernabeu giants to the title. With Malaga, Pellegrini lost all four games against Barca between 2010 and 2012. His only inkling of success in a Guardiola battle was a 3-3 draw at the Nou Camp with Villarreal in 2009. Now in charge at City, Pellegrini has a much more impressive squad at his disposal but his only concern is eking three points out of them and not finally outmanoeuvring Guardiola. The Chilean said: "It's always about the players. I don't play against Pep Guardiola. It is Bayern against Manchester City. "The key is always the performance of the important players. They must appear in impo ...
To many Chelsea fans, Jose Mourinho is a God who has taken the form of a mortal; to the rest of us, he is simply a well-dressed, slightly annoying and possibly even overrated manager. He surpassed all expectations at FC Porto, and during his first spell at Chelsea, before impressing with Inter Milan by joining the elite group of managers to have won the Champions League with two different clubs. Although he tasted success with Real Madrid, he only won La Liga once in three years, and failed to deliver the coveted tenth Champions League title that the Spanish club so desperately crave. Many will look on his time at the club back with indifference. Now, just a few weeks into his second tenure as Chelsea manager, things aren’t exactly going to plan either. He lost his first competitive game against old foe Pep Guardiola, before losing to Everton and Basel within a week; certainly not the start he or Chelsea fans would have hoped for. His blatant exclusion of fans’ favourite Juan Mata has raised a few eye ...
Getty Images Jose Mourinho has launched into an embarrassing rant that highlights his bitter rivalry with Pep Guardiola, writes John Cross in Prague. Mourinho set out to defend his poor head-to-head record against Guardiola ahead of their latest face-off in Chelsea's Friday night European Super Cup showpiece against Bayern Munich here in the Czech Republic. But the Blues' boss scored a spectacular own goal by getting his stats wrong. Mourinho, now back in charge of Europa League winners Chelsea, has pitted his wits against Guardiola, new coach of European champions Bayern, 15 times over the years. And their rivalry developed into an ugly feud while they were in charge of Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively. But The Special One is clearly better at management than mathematics, because Mourinho insisted a journalist was wrong to correctly claim the Portuguese had enjoyed just three wins in those 15 matches. Mourinho snapped: "Your statistics are wrong as a start. Very wrong. Very wrong. Because... but I ...

•Hectic pre-season schedules for Real Madrid and Barcelona_ •Real Madrid's summer plans are no less taxing.Barcelona have completed details of a tour that will see them travel over 30,000 kilometers, with some players condemned to travel even more. Real Madrid and Barcelona had better stock up on reading material and video-games and prepare to fasten their seatbelts as it looks like they are all in for a busy summer in terms of travelling. Financial and commercial and marketing commitments will see both clubs, both of whom return to training in the next seven days, go almost all around the world to play their pre-season preparation games. The side coached by Tito Vilanova will play their first friendly game in the Polish city of Danzig July 20 before facing Bayern Munich, who are now coached by former Barca boss Pep Guardiola. After taking on Bayern in what is certain to be an emotional affair for many of the players, Barca then travel to Oslo (Norway) for a friendly game against Valerenga, before jet ...

If Cavani says no, Chelsea will go for Lewandowski Jose Mourinho is ready to drop his pursuit of Napoli striker Edinson Cavani and restart his hunt for Dortmund hitman Robert Lewandowski. The Blues, it is reported, still have a heavy interest in the Napoli forward, whose future will be addressed now that Uruguay are out of the Confederations Cup. Despite Chelsea publicising their interest in Cavani, nothing seems to have materialised on Cavani’s side. His desire to move to Real Madrid seems to be the decisive factor. Mourinho has expressed his reluctancy to trigger the £54million buy-out clause that seems to be holding the Uruguayan back. Although, Chelsea would be willing to throw Fernando Torres in to the equation. Meanwhile, Dortmund forward Lewandowski, who has just 12 months left on his current contract, has not kept quiet about his desire to join up with Pep Guardiola at bitter rivals Bayern Munich. But, as you’d imagine, Dortmund are refusing to do business after Bayern prised Mario Gotze away ...
Pep Guardiola: "I propose that from the next season, Referees for the knockout stages of the Champions League should be from the best leagues - Not from Leagues that have been known to fix matches. You all saw what happened to Manchester United last season against Real Madrid. That was a horrible thing. United deserved to reach the semi- finals at least. They played with their heart. They were unbelievable." (Fardeen)
MANAGERIAL MERRY-GO-ROUND MEANS TRANSFER CAN BEGIN: If this week has had a theme, it has been managerial unveilings. Pep Guardiola wooed the German crowds in "the biggest press conference in the club's history" on Tuesday. And the very next day, Carlo Ancelottiwas confirmed as Real Madrid's incumbent, shortly before Laurent Blanc appeared in the manager's chair at PSG. The knock on effect of this is that transfers will now start toget finalised. Three of European football's biggest cheque-books have new men holding the pens. And that is not to mention messrs Manuel Pellegrini and Jose Mourinho, recently installed at Manchester City and Chelsea respectively. There will certainly be a shift in the workforce over the coming month or two. Chelsea and Manchester City comfortably lead the transfer league table over the past few years in England. City's net spend is £390 million and Chelsea's is nearly £230 million. The team in third place is Stoke, with a measly £80 million net spend on players since 2008. M ...
Marca splash with the claim today that Luis Suarez agreed personal terms “weeks ago” on a move to Real Madrid. However, Suarez is now exploring other offers (which could include Premier League rivals Manchester City) due to the delay in Real Madrid making an offer to Liverpool. Now Carlo Ancelotti is installed as Real Madrid coach, Los Blancos will decide whether to bid 47 million euros (his release clause, according to Marca) for Suarez. The decision rests with Ancelotti and Marca suggest Suarez now has other offers available, comparable in financial terms. Suarez has reportedly grown impatient whilst at the Confederations Cup and new Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola is also tracking developments. Much like many other players who could be on the move (e.g. Gonzalo Higuain, David Luiz), the transfer market now looks set to get busier after Carlo Ancelotti and Laurent Blanc were installed at Real Madrid and PSG, respectively on Tuesday. Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been very busy in the transfer ...

The Suarez brothers represented by Pep Guardiola, Pere had agreed with the offer of a contract duration of four years with a salary of 140 thousand Pounds per week. In addition, El Pistolero also will still get different bonuses depending on the performance and he was able to earn a degree in Madrid. There is also a unique clause which States that Suarez just wanted to be played at the position of striker. Now the Los Merengues just need to settle the Affairs of the transfer fee with Liverpool. A player 26 years has a buy-out clause of 40 million Pounds, but Madrid refused to pay some of it and opted to negotiate in the range of 25 million Pounds with The Reds. Suarez appeared quite phenomenal last season and scored 30 goals and 13 assists in 44 Games in all events.
Bayern Munich now in chase with Real Madrid for £40 million Liverpool star! There has been some reports on the Metro website which have claimed German side Bayern Munich are now in the chase with Real Madrid for the signature of Liverpool star Luis Suarez. Suarez still has three years remaining on his Anfield contract but another season without Champions League football may convince him he needs to quit Merseyside. It has been reported that Madrid have already contacted Suarez’s agent about a possible move but Bayern could now come into the reckoning as they look to build on Saturday’s Champions League. Success with new boss Pep Guardiola taking charge in the summer and determined to strengthen his attacking options. (The Metro) Liverpool will hold out for as long as possible in the summer widow and will be very lucky if they manage to keep their main man. But the summer is long and the world of football has seen moves when clubs are unwilling to sell.

Surely, it's not the best of times for Fc Barcelona of Spain. After being humbled 2-0 by a defiant Ac Milan side in their Champions League round of 16 1st leg, it has been ignominiously followed by a Copa Del Rey and La Liga defeats to their arch rivals Real Madrid. With 3 defeats in the space of two weeks, there's definitely no much smiles at Camp Nou at the moment. Stripped of Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova, Barcelona have not been able to get the groove and spark that characterised the tenure of Guardiola who opted out after the 2010/2011. In him, Barcelona had a coach blessed with tact, know-how, technical clout and charisma to tutore his galaxy of talented players even when the chips were down. He possessed that charm and aura that propelled the Blaugrana in his time. He was intelligent and smartly dressed. I digress. My point is that without an atom of doubt, this gentlemam who is now contracted to Bayern Munich has left a big hole that will take some time to be filled. Tito Vilanova, his assistan ...
TRANSFER GOSSIP Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, 26, has fuelled speculation linking him to Bayern Munich ahead of Pep Guardiola's arrival as the German side's manager by admitting he would not "automatically" reject an offer. Guardiola's brother Pere represents the Uruguay international. Tottenham have rejected a bid from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala to take 27-year-old defender Younes Kaboul on loan until the end of the season. Anzhi are searching for a replacement for Christopher Samba, who left for QPR in January. West Brom manager Steve Clarke wants to keep on-loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, 19, at The Hawthorns for another season. Manchester City's hopes of buying Napoli striker Edinson Cavani are looking increasingly thin with Real Madrid ready to offer significant competition in the race for his signature. The Uruguayan has been earmarked as a summer replacement for Mario Balotelli by the Premier League champions, but Spanish side Real have already opened talks with the 26-year-old's represent ...

Mourinho would choose Inter over Chelsea According to reports, Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho would welcome a return to management in Italy rather than England. by Jason Pettigrove It would appear that Jose Mourinho’s days at Real Madrid are numbered with a divorce at the end of this season the most likely scenario. There will be no shortage of takers for the services of the ‘Special One’ and reports indicate that the Portuguese would prefer a return to Italy. Internazionale, where he won the treble, would be his preferred destination, but after losing out on Pep Guardiola, it is expected that Roman Abramovich will do everything in his power to rekindle a relationship that appeared broken a few years ago. Mourinho has not entirely dismissed a return to Stamford Bridge and he has made no secret of his love for the English Premier League. However, he has often remarked in interviews that his favourite football memory was his Champions League win with the Milan club. inside spanish football, admin andr ...

Bernabéu is captain's happy hunting ground Puyol territory Carles Puyol is set to start at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday. The Barcelona captain will be an inspiration to his teammates, as the side has an incredible record - which even Leo Messi cannot beat - whenever the defender has featured at Real Madrid. In the last five years, every time Puyol has played in this fixture, Barça has won the game. This record has been intact since 7th May 2008 when the Catalan side lost 4-1 to 'Los Blancos'. Since then, Barça – under the guidance of both Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova – has played at the Bernabéu on eight occasions in four different competitions. Barça has won five of these eight matches, drawing twice and losing once. However, Puyol did not play in the team’s defeat and one of the draws. The defender did feature in the 1-1 league draw in the 2010-11 season. Nevertheless, one important thing must be pointed out. Puyol was substituted in the 57th minute of that particular game, when his ...

FIFA Awards News- Spain's Vicente Del Bosque, was voted as Coach of the Year for the first time after his team won the Euro 2012, holding off Real Madrid's Jose Mourinho and Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola.
As Barcelona supporters take in the news of Pep Guardiola's impending departure as the club's manager it may not do much to sooth their despair that the man who will replace him next season is known primarily for being poked in the eye by José Mourinho. The assault occurred during the climax of Barça's Spanish Super Cup second-leg tie with Real Madrid at the Camp Nou last August and led to Real's manager being accused by, among others, Gerard Piqué of trying to "ruin Spanish football". Little was heard from the actual victim, Francesc "Tito" Vilanova, Guardiola's long-standing assistant. Now, however, the understated figure who has worked behind the scenes to help this generation of Barcelona players become arguably the greatest team the planet has ever seen will have to make himself heard, his presence felt, and, should Mourinho remain in charge at the Bernabéu next season, stand up to the barbs that are likely to come his way from the combative Portuguese. It will prove the ultimate test of characte ...
