I simply cannot believe that Steve Finn and Ravi Bopara were dropped. Very smart to drop two of your best ODI players, England!
Fast bowler Steven Finn has urged England to adapt to Sri Lankan conditions in order to salvage their one-day international campaign. The hosts carry a 2-0 lead into Wednesday's third ODI in Hambantota, where the reserve day on Thursday could come into play with Sri Lanka's rainy season once again expected to be a factor. A blistering century by Moeen Ali and 65 from Ravi Bopara saw England make a good fist of chasing down 317-6 in the opener to the seven-match rubber in Colombo. Finn returned from injury to bolster the tourists' attack at the same ground on Saturday but there was little for them to work with as only Bopara passed 50 in a paltry effort of 185 all out. In a match nominally reduced to 45 overs per-side - England fell two short of using their allocation - Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene sauntered to unbeaten scores of 67 and 77 respectively with more than 10 overs to spare, leaving under-pressure captain Alastair Cook and his team with plenty to ponder as next year's World Cup in Aus ...

Ravi Bopara backs Alastair Cook to continue as England's one-day captain, spreading the blame to all the batsmen
via ‘One thing we must remember, it’s not just Alastair Cook who hasn’t scored over the past few games,’ he said. ‘There’s been a lot of us. ‘He is our captain. He’s done it in the past. I remember him scoring two hundreds on the bounce in the UAE. He can play, and I’m sure that form will turn around.’ - Ravi Bopara on Alastair Cook. 💗💗
via "Ravi Bopara has leapt to the defence of Alastair Cook after England’s crushing one-day defeat by Sri Lanka in Colombo was followed by renewed demands for his resignation...But Bopara, whose enterprising half-century stood out in a sorry display, said Cook was not the only struggling batsman in England’s one-day side. In a formulation that has become familiar, Bopara insisted: ‘He’s quite a strong character. He’ll come out the other side.’ 💗💗
Ravi Bopara, a team-mate of Alastair Cook's for more than 15 years since the start of their careers, describes the captain as a 'fighter' who has proved his doubters wrong many times and will do so again.

“Pleased for my mate Chris Jordan making the Test squad,” posted Ravi Bopara. England announced that Jordan would make up one of three uncapped players (along with Sam Robson and Moeen Ali) in England’s Test squad for the first Test against Sri Lanka on Thursday, June 12.
Well done boys ! .. Well said Mahela about Jos Buttler run out incident "We gave him a fair chance,. "Twice. Before the first warning, we told the umpires that he was taking too much of a lead and then he was warned again. We had to do that, because they kept doing it. "We analysed our game after Lord's. They took 22 twos in the last 12 overs. Ravi Bopara and him ran riot. And most of the time they were taking starts that are not legal by the written laws. We just wanted to make sure we got a fair chance. We warned them and we warned the umpires, but they didn't listen to us, so we had to take the right steps. "We always try to play in the right spirit, but if the other team is not playing in the right spirit and not going with the law, then unfortunately we had to take the law into our hands. It was the third time. It is fair enough, I think. We all need to play by the rules. "If the other sides are not going by the rules, then they're not playing by the spirit, so what can you do?" - Mahela Jayawardene

Bangladesh Premier League news BPL payments problem resurfaces : The payments controversy that plagued the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in the past has resurfaced again, with several Chittagong Kings players - England's Ravi Bopara, Netherlands' Ryan ten Doeschate, West Indies' Kevon Cooper, Zimbabwe's Brendan Taylor and Surrey's Jason Roy - complaining to the BCB that they have not been paid. The players said the Kings' owner Sameer Chowdhury was to blame because he had failed to deliver despite making repeated promises to pay in 2013. According to the players' contracts, which were underwritten by the BCB, the franchise was to pay the player in four installments, each transaction amounting to 25% of his auction fee. The first installment was to be paid at the time of signing the contract (January 15, 2013), the second by the completion of the league stage (February 19), the third within 90 days of the tournament ending (May 20) and the fourth within 180 days of the tournament's completion (July 20). ...
The last time England played a match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, the contest lasted 10 deliveries before the 2009 Test was abandoned due to a dangerous outfield. England's only previous ODIs at this ground came during the 2007 World Cup when they lost both matches Since January 2013, West Indies have hit 145 sixes in 28 matches (an average of 5.18 per game) while England have hit 89 in 26 matches (an average of 3.42 per game) but both teams have won the same number of matches (11) in that period. Ravi Bopara, if selected, will play his 100th one-day international.

Despite Bopara unbeaten 65 off 27 balls, England was short by 14 runs as Australia won the first T20I. England 200/9 - Ravi Bopara 65*, Joe Root 32, Nathan Counter-Nile 4-30, Moises Henriques 2-36. Western Sydney Wanderers have returned to second place with a comfortable 3-1 win over Perth Glory at Pirtek Stadium. Leading 2-0 at the break, Shane Smeltz profited from a lack of concentration in the Wanderers' defence to close the gap to 2-1 with still over 30 minutes to play, before a penalty to Mark Bridge would seal the deal for the Wanderers. A morale boosting win after a tough couple of outings for the defending premiers, and with a busy schedule coming up including Asian Champions League group fixtures, wins like this will become a premium. For the Glory, their record against top six teams at the moment is a little suspect for Kenny Lowe's liking, and something will need to fix if they wish to contend in the race to the finals series. At Adelaide Oval, England are closing in on Australia's target of 218 in the fifth and final ODI, and are 5/158, requiring a further 60 off 60 balls. Ravi Bopara and Jos Buttler would be favoured to get England home from this spot, requiring a run a ball, but an Aus ...

England will rest Test regulars Kevin Pietersen, James Anderson and Graeme Swann from the five-match ODI and three-match Twenty20 series against Australia following the Ashes. Head coach Andy Flower was quoted by the English media on Tuesday as saying the omission of Pietersen, Anderson and Swann is designed to allow them to prepare for England’s busy playing schedule over the next 15 months leading up to the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. “Our players that play all three forms of the game cannot play constantly 12 months of the year,” Flower was quoted by The Guardian. “Guys like Anderson and Pietersen are in their early 30s now and prized assets, and we need to look after our prized assets. From a physical perspective, they are always dealing with various niggles.” Test captain Alastair Cook will lead the England ODI squad with Stuart Broad again captaining the Twenty20 side. Who dismissed Rahul Dravid most often in Test cricket? A distinguished bunch of bowlers lead the way in dismissing Rahul Dravid in Tests. Shane Warne did it eight times, Brett Lee seven, Muttiah Muralitharan and Shaun *** six. A slightly less distinguished trio - Doug Bollinger (Australia), Pommie Mbangwa (Zimbabwe) and Daren Powell (West Indies) - dismissed Dravid in both innings of the only Test they played against him. In ODIs (in which, it is easy to forget, Dravid piled up 10,889 runs) he was dismissed six times by Pakistan's Abdul Razzaq and Sanath Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka, and five times by seven other bowlers - including Lee, who dismissed him 12 times in all international cricket, one more than Murali. And the most successful bowler against Dravid in T20 internationals is … Ravi Bopara, who had him caught in the covers in the only such match he played!
Packed once more to go away from home. Cardiff for a few days and cricket tomorrow, woop woop!!! One Day Squad: Kevin Pietersen, Michael Carberry, Jonathan Trott, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan (capt), Ravi Bopara, Jos Buttler (wk), Ben Stokes, James Tredwell, Steven Finn, Boyd Rankin, Luke Wright, Chris Jordan, Jamie Overton Not perfect, still wanted to meet Alastair Cook, James Anderson and Stuart Broad but there will be other matches.
Cricket News: Australia began their time here by being dismissed for 65 by India in Cardiff in a Champions Trophy warm-up but ended on a high note – after what at times had been a torrid tour in which the coach was replaced – when they won the final one-day international of the summer by 49 runs on a bitterly cold evening on Monday night. Progress there has certainly been. England, asked to make 299 to win, lost Kevin Pietersen in the first over of their reply, run out after another calamitous mix-up with Michael Carberry, and had reached only 102 for five before a sixthwicket partnership of 92 from 79 balls between Ravi Bopara and Jos Buttler revived their hopes. But Buttler went for 42 from 37 balls and Bopara for 62 from 66, in the space of seven balls during the final powerplay to leave them 197 for seven, from which there was no comeback: they were all out for 249 with two overs remaining. Australia thus take the series 2-1, deservedly so, and move ahead of England to second place behind India in ...
Watson leads Australia to winning finish * As in the Ashes, Shane Watson saved his best until last to enable Australia to end their almost four-month stay in England with silverware as they wrapped up the NatWest series with a convincing 49-run victory. Watson's 143 provided nearly half of Australia's total and his stand of 163 with Michael Clarke, who battled through with his troublesome back, was the defining period of the match and series. England's chase only ignited when Ravi Bopara and Jos Buttler were adding 92 in 13 overs; perhaps it was the autumnal chill which descended and left spectators huddle up in jacks that prevented an early spark. But by then it was a monumental task, even for Buttler's nerves of steel. Kevin Pietersen was run out in the third over and any remnants of a chance, however slim, disappeared when Eoin Morgan departed straight after the halfway mark of the innings. Australia were clearly the better team over the three-and-a-bit ODIs that the weather allowed and this trophy, al ...

To India, the win augurs excitingly well for the future. This is a young team, with an average age of 25.7 and the bulk of the squad will likely stay the same till the 2015 World Cup. From Shreedutta Chidananda. Virat Kohli went berserk at the end. He ran from the stage to fetch the champagne he’d concealed under the hoarding and sprayed his team-mates with it, soiling their natty white jackets and sending M. S. Dhoni scurrying. He then mimicked his good friend Chris Gayle, doing push-ups before unleashing a little Gangnam Style dance. Only 15 minutes earlier he’d stood in the covers with a frown on his face, watching in despair as Ravi Bopara and Eoin Morgan steadily took England towards the line. When Ishant Sharma copped a six and sent down two wides in the 18th over, it looked all over, the decision to give him the ball a grave error. Then, in the space of two deliveries, it went topsy-turvy. Morgan misread a slower one and was caught by R. Ashwin on the offside, before Bopara pulled straight to t ...

England Fall Short In Run-Fest New Zealand 201-4 (B McCullum 68) beat England 196-5 (Wright 52) by 5 runs First Twenty20 International, The Oval The first balls of the final two overs both went for six but England ended narrowly short in a 20-over run chase for the second time in three days as New Zealand won a high-scoring thriller at The Oval. Set an imposing 202 for victory after a boundary barrage from Brendon McCullum and Hamish Rutherford, England began well but looked to be slipping behind around the time of their captain Eoin Morgan’s dismissal in the 14th over. He was brilliantly caught one-handed by Ross Taylor after Brendon McCullum - again showcasing his innovative style of captaincy - posted a slip. However, Jos Buttler clearly learnt from the ungainly slog that saw him dismissed first ball against India on Sunday and took a couple of balls to get his eye in before unveiling his trademark ramp shot which travelled for six. He and Ravi Bopara added 45 in 22 balls to get the equation down to ...
New Zealand clinch exciting T20 against ENGLAND New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum led from the front on Tuesday to help the Black Caps defeat England by five runs in an high-scoring Twenty20 international at The Oval on Tuesday. McCullum muscled his way to 68 from 48 deliveries while opener Hamish Rutherford, who did not feature in the Champions Trophy which concluded on Sunday, lofted four sixes in his 62 from 35 balls. England needed six off the final ball to take the game into a super over but Ravi Bopara, who played in the side who lost the Champions Trophy final against India by the same margin, could manage only one. Fast bowler Boyd Rankin, who has been included in the England squad for an Ashes warm-up game against Essex after representing Ireland in the 2007 World Cup, took one for 24. The teams meet again at The Oval on Thursday in the final match of New Zealand's tour. ENGLAND: AD Hales, MJ Lumb, LJ Wright, EJG Morgan (capt), RS Bopara, JC Buttler (wk), BA Stokes, CR Woakes, JC Tredwell, JW ...
19.6 overs: Ashwin to Tredwell, no run, slow turn away outside off, Tredwell swings out but misses. India are the champions. 19.5 overs: Ashwin to Tredwell, 2 runs, slightly flat, Tredwell chips it straight down the ground and long on comes back for the second 17.4 overs: OUT!! Ishant Sharma has got Ravi Bopara out caught at square leg. Bopara was looking to pull but finds R Ashwin instead. Ravi Bopara departs after scoring 30 runs off 25 balls with two sixes. BIG WICKET for India!! Jos Buttler comes to the crease for England. 17.3 overs: That's OUT!! Ishant Sharma has got Eoin Morgan out caught at midwicket. Morgan was looking to go over the midwicket fielder but holes out to R Ashwin instead. Eoin Morgan departs after scoring 33 runs off 30 balls with three boundaries and a six. Another BLOW for England!! Ishant Sharma is LEAKING some CRUCIAL runs here!! 17.2 overs: SIX!! Eoin Morgan gets on the backfoot and clouts the pull over the backward square leg fence for the maximum. India beat England in dramatic final 23 June 2013 Updated 19:47 GMT By Justin Goulding - BBC Sport at Edgbaston England's search for a global one-day title goes on after they collapsed to a five-run defeat by India in a pulsating Champions Trophy final at Edgbaston. Chasing a modest 130 in a game reduced to 20 overs per side by rain, England were set for a historic triumph with 20 needed off 16 balls and Eoin Morgan and Ravi Bopara at the crease. However, Morgan's departure for 33 was the first of four wickets to fall for three runs in eight balls as the team were struck by nerves. England finished on 124-8 after James Tredwell missed the last ball of the innings with six required for victory. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin claimed 2-14 and slow left-armer Ravindra Jadeja took 2-24 to complement his vital unbeaten 33 off 25 balls in India's 129-7. England are left to reflect on a fifth defeat in a major final - and another agonising loss in the Champions Trophy showpiece after losing to West Indies in 20 ...
Don't get me wrong - it was a fantastic match-swing to both ends but at the end one team chokes under pressure to let the trophy slip between cup & lips...It would have been the 'day' for Ravi Bopara ( 3 wkts & 30 runs) but though he has got "Indian blood", he also chokes..But at the other end, Ravindra Jadeja ( 33* & 2 wkts) didn't choke at all... Hats off to u "Sir" Jaddu..
Is Tim Bresnan the Mike Williamson of cricket? Or is it Ravi Bopara?
Shikhar Dhawan-Alastair Cook ,Rohit Sharma-Ian Bell,Virat Kohli-Jonathan Trott,Dinesh Karthik-Joe Root,Suresh Raina-Eoin Morgan,Ravindra Jadeja-Ravi Bopara,M S Dhoni-Jos Buttler These names clearly shows India's batting is more stronger than England but on the other hand R Ashwin-Graeme Swann,Bhuvaneshwar Kumar-Stuart Broad,Ishant Sharma-James Anderson,Umesh Yadav-Steven Finn. Show's that India's bowling fall weak against English, all that said it comes down to which unit does well on the given day. Chances are 50-50 for me, Hope a 50-50 over game clarifies my doubt.
Sangakkara And Kulasekara Star In Sri Lanka Win Sri Lanka 297-3 (Sangakkara 134no) beat England 293-7 (Trott 76) by 7 wickets ICC Champions Trophy, Group A, The Oval Kumar Sangakkara hit an unbeaten century, while Nuwan Kulasekara provided some late sparkle, as Sri Lanka kept their hopes alive in the ICC Champions Trophy with a seven-wicket victory over the hosts under The Oval floodlights. Ravi Bopara had earlier hauled England up to 293 for seven at the end of an innings which had followed a similar path to the one against Australia. Jonathan Trott, Joe Root and Alastair Cook all passed 50 to set up a hoped-for onslaught from Jos Buttler and Eoin Morgan that never materialised. It was then again left to Bopara, who on this occasion hit 28 from the final over bowled by Shaminda Eranga, to take England up to a competitive total. However, thanks to Sangakkara and Kulasekara, the result this time was defeat. Sri Lanka lost Kushal Perera early in their pursuit of 294, but the experienced players in their top ...
13 June: man, I can't even remember getting up this morning but what I do remember is that Sri Lanka KLAPPED the Pomms.really klapped, against ALL odds! SL won the tos, decided to bowl first and Michael Vaughan (hmpf!) even said at the start of the game that the Sri Lankans had NO chance! Mom was thinking quietly by herself: Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene.but she said nothing. Then England scored a million runs - ok, they scored 293/7 in their 50 overs with Ravi Bopara going mad at the end: with Cook, Trott and Root the highest scorers. So here was this mammoth run chase.and all the commentators (except Sunny Gavaskar!) said very diplomatically of course, that SL has no on walked the openers Perera and the opening expert, Dilshan - Perera went cheaply in the 3rd over.and then the legend, mr Sri Lanka himself stepped onto the Oval: Kumar Sangakkara.and 47.1 overs later he was still there on 134* and SL won by 7 wickets with 17 balls to spare. But I must just add that D ...
Players from England and South Africa took time out of their busy schedules this week during the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 to visit organisations in England and Wales and show solidarity with persons living with HIV. England players James Tredwell, Ravi Bopara and Jos Buttler visited Terrence Higgins Trust and The Food Chain in London on Tuesday, while South Africa’s JP Duminy, David Miller, Aaron Phangiso, Farhaan Behardien and assistant coach Russell Domingo visited Terrence Higgins Trust’s offices in Cardiff today. During both visits, players elected to have rapid HIV tests to help raise awareness for the service that the Trust offers, with Tredwell taking his test in London and Duminy and Miller doing theirs in Cardiff. Terrence Higgins Trust is the UK’s largest HIV and sexual health charity and offers a wide range of services, including the rapid HIV test. In Cardiff today, the South African players met persons living with HIV in Wales and learned about the stigma that they experience in their ...
England score 2937 against Lanka - England made 293/7 after being put into bat by Sri Lanka in the ICC Champions Trophy Group A tie here at The Oval Thursday. Jonathan Trott top scored with 76 while Joe Root (68) and skipper Alastair Cook (59) also made significant contributions. Ravi Bopara (33 not out) played a brilliant cameo by hitting 28 runs off the last over to propel the hosts to a par-290 score. For Sri Lanka, Lasith ...
fair play to Ravi Bopara. Gets a lot of stick from England fans. Has answered his critics! Same can be said bout Rohit Sharma & Indian fans.
Sounds like Ravi Bopara has been watching Chris Gayle, a mighty knock
Failures like Rohit Sharma and Ravi Bopara are playing like top batters in CT13. Justifying the hype finally.
Just seen that Ravi Bopara hit 28 off the last over v Sri Lanka
Rohit Sharma and Ravi Bopara finally scoring runs consistently in this
Who knew England had a Chris Gayle in their team wit Ravi Bopara
Nice to see Ravi Bopara warming up for the start of the Friends Life t20 season blasting 28 in the last over! Can England win it from here?
Shaminda Eranga with a pitiful over, including a juicy leg stump full toss as Ravi Bopara hits 28 from the final over. England 293/7.
Ravi Bopara in that one over was England's own version of Chris Gayle.
He was picked in the defending champions' squad for the World Twenty20 in England in 2009 and made his tournament debut in the Super Eight round against England. At 24 for two off 3.4 overs and chasing 154 to win, the coach, Gary Kirsten, made the bewildering decision to send Jadeja, who had earlier taken the wickets of the opener Ravi Bopara and Kevin Pietersen, in at No4 ahead of Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni and Yusuf Pathan. He took 35 balls to make 25 and the Almanack, among millions of other voices, blamed his inertia for the defeat. Later the same year, he was castigated for India falling three short of Australia's 350 in the fifth ODI at Hyderabad when the supposed finisher was run out needing 18 off nine balls. A contract dispute made him ineligible for the Indian Premier League in 2010, a tournament he had won with the Rajasthan Royals in 2008 when his captain, Shane Warne, gave him the nickname "Rockstar", but he was still selected for the World T20 in the Caribbean that May despite a distinct lack of ...
Australia Struggled – England Survived Australia had their chances to pick up the pace and victory but they felt short, way short in all departments. England got the comprehensive victory but they did not look the team which can win all the way. Cook won the toss and while electing to bat first, revealed a shocking news to leave out their top two bowlers Finn and Swann. Although Swann surprisingly after 20 minute of practice in the morning, god the late back spasm and was replaced by in form Tredwell, so there was not much of a loss there but Finn was left out to accommodate depth in the batting. England preferred Ravi Bopara – an extra batsman over a quality bowler like Finn. Since Anderson, Broad and Bresnan all bowled beautifully, England did not felt the need of Finn. However that tactics could back fire when England play against better batting side such as India as even in a not so tight encounter they were struggling to complete 10 over from 5th bowler. Cook and Bell started confidently while St ...
If the recent rule changes to One-Day Internationals were designed to make 50-over contests more entertaining, then England, it seems, did not get the memo. Not that Alastair Cook’s side will care. Fresh from a 2-1 series reversal against New Zealand, it beat its ancient rivals by 48 runs at Edgbaston on Saturday (June 8) and made a sizeable stride towards the semi-finals. A meeting between a team dressed in red and one in yellow ought to have been a fiery combination but this was a tame – at times turgid – match. Edgbaston was packed but rarely was this ground, renowned for his good-natured rowdiness, stoked into any sort of rabble-rousing. Only at the end of England’s dogged innings, when Ravi Bopara was smashing 46 from 37 balls, was there any evidence of pre-Ashes banter emanating from the stands, though the crowd did reawaken when Mitchell Johnson, a favourite Australian anti-hero in these parts, came in to bat at 151 for 7. None of the locals will complain about the result but this was victo ...
James Anderson led an exceptional bowling display as England opened their Champions Trophy campaign with a 48-run victory over Australia at Edgbaston. Ian Bell's measured 91 was the cornerstone of England's 269-6, while Jonathan Trott made 47 and Ravi Bopara supplied late impetus with 46 not out off 37 balls. Despite 55 from stand-in skipper George Bailey and James Faulkner's lusty unbeaten 54, Australia laboured to 221-9 on a largely blameless surface.
England make a sizeable stride towards the semifinals as bowling attack complements good work done by Ian Bell and Ravi Bopara in the first half of the match
Ravi Bopara's slow medium pace reminds me of a certain Ronnie Irani. Irani used to get some swing from the surface though.
I saw on the BBC website "Ravi Bopara.the Carlton Palmer of cricket". I did smile but then thought a bit harsh.
Stuart Broad and Steven Finn both play, while Ravi Bopara and James Tredwell also get a game. Anderson and Swann are rested.

Match Facts June 5, 2013, Trent Bridge Start time 2pm (1300 GMT) The Big Picture We knew New Zealand were a more competitive side in one-day cricket than in Tests but few would have gambled on the tourists having the series wrapped up with a match to play. The net result is New Zealand's stock has risen significantly and England's odds for the Champions Trophy are lengthening. Alastair Cook is facing his first crisis as one-day captain, largely caused by injuries to Steven Finn and Stuart Broad. To call Jade Dernbach and Chris Woakes suitable replacements is generous. Dernbach has surely proved his isn't currently an international bowler and Woakes has failed to perform as many thought he might. England are now at a crossroads with their bowling attack. They can stick with their seam-bowling plan and bring Boyd Rankin in and hope they have either Broad or Finn fit, or they change tack and utilise James Tredwell as a second spinner and Ravi Bopara to take pace off the ball. They must be mindful of likely c ...
County Cricket Round-Up - 4th June We preview todays round nine LV= County Championship matches and look back at Graham Napier-led demolition of Surrey. Napier returned astonishing figure of seven for 32 as Essex thrashed Surrey by 178 runs in Group B of the Yorkshire Bank 40. His spell included four wickets in four balls, as well as the key wicket of Ricky Ponting. Speaking after the game, Napier told Essex TV that Ponting’s wicket was “the one I wanted to come for tonight, I’ve dreamt many years of just getting a bowl to him, to get him out was just priceless.” Of his thoughts prior to the hat-trick ball which trapped Tom Jewell LBW he added, “ I just said to Benny [Mark Benson, the umpire], there’s only one place this one’s going, full and straight.” Napier’s figures were the second best by an Essex bowler in List A cricket and came after Essex had piled up 312 for seven after being asked to bat. Ravi Bopara and Owais Shah both made fifties, while there were contributions from Ton Wes ...
2013 Champions Trophy: Meet the teams ENGLAND While the hosts have the home advantage, it will be interesting to see what they do with it, when they start off against Ashes opponents Australia on June 8. Joe Root is clearly the man everybody is talking about, and if the youngster stays rooted at the crease, he will only be enhancing his reputation. The batting is strong, and the bowling looks complete, as Anderson, Broad and Swann are in top form. If they can put their best foot forward with both bat and ball, they can be serious contenders for the title. Squad: Alastair Cook (captain), James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Jos Buttler (wicketkeeper), Steven Finn, Eoin Morgan, Joe Root, Graeme Swann, James Tredwell, Jonathan Trott, Chris Woakes.
Like those reports coming out of about Graham Napier and Ravi Bopara.

Ravi Bopara.. Really?! The have to realise he's an Asian Mark Ramprakash.. Can't bat at world level but does a mean Cha Cha Cha..
Still struggling to understand why the England selectors consider Ravi Bopara a one day international cricketer, but not Matt Prior.
Ravi Bopara earns a recall yet still no place for Matt Prior, bit baffled if i'm honest
Ravi Bopara is the Emile Heskey of English cricket.
Goatacre's Liam Dawson takes the catch off David Balcombe to dismiss Ravi Bopara. Essex teetering on 25-5.
Ravi Bopara caught behind for 41, five wickets for David Willey. Decent game for the leftie. Essex are doomed

I think with exams we all cba... but yeh.. tomoz.. Ravi Bopara at Fenners.. yes or no?
In my 'least effective T20 team of all time' Ponting would open the batting with Ravi Bopara.
Some remarkable batting from Alasdair *** gets Cambridge up to 99 before Ravi Bopara dismissed Grant Nicholson to finish the innings
You left the great Ravi Bopara off that list of future legends. You mad?
“just bowled out Ravi Bopara, not too shabby!” That's my boy!

Are up for going down to Fenners this weeked and seeing Ravi Bopara in action? Also.. who r u playing for today?
Ravi Bopara has left the crease (out for a spectacular 4 v Cambridge Uni). The cricket season can now end.
I see a 4 ball duck for Ravi Bopara here. It is written.
Ravi Bopara is now at the crease. The county season can finally begin.
Ben Foakes goes for 38 after being caught behind as Essex reach 90-2. Ravi Bopara comes to the crease as next batsman

Alastair Cook backs Ravi Bopara to return to the England Team :)
Alastair Cook says England can't underestimate Australia and backs team-mate Ravi Bopara for a recall:
Lost a half dozen followers yesterday. Fans of either the Queen or Ravi Bopara I presume.
DEC spoke to captain James Foster, Ravi Bopara & Alistair Cook ahead of the new season
Essex have clever people I mean look at Ravi Bopara, then you get *** like that girl who give your county a bad name lol
Alastair Cook shares a joke with Ravi Bopara and David Masters via
England invest faith in troubled Ravi Bopara
I assume it was Ravi Bopara's average of 13 in the Bangladesh Premier League that got him a place in the England Performance Squad.
Opportunity of a lifetime, meet Ravi Bopara and Saj Mahmood at a chicken shop. Lets hope they don't get robbed in East Ham
Ravi Bopara in the performance squad? I am a fan of him but how many more chances is he going to get

"IPL6 begins soon. Where's your money? On the team that signed Ravi Bopara
Ravi Bopara's had more chances than Mark Ramprakash and Graeme Hick. He should not be in the England squad
For the love of god. Not Ravi Bopara! Sheesh.
He's only friggin managed it again! Ravi 'unreliable unpredictable' Bopara included in the Engalnd performance squad!
How on earth Ravi Bopara is in the England performance squad and James Taylor isn't I'll never know.
One day, I'll figure out what the England management see in Ravi Bopara. Won't be today though, and tomorrow doesn't look promising either.
30 man squad also has both Ravi Bopara and Craig Kieswetter included so they remain in picture. Luke Wright also included
No real surprises. Worth noting Ravi Bopara is included. Still in England's thoughts it seems.
Cameron Delport became the first player to score a century for the Sunfoil Dolphins in 20-over cricket after his unbeaten 103 set them on their way to victory in their RAM SLAM T20 Challenge encounter against the Chevrolet Knights in Durban on Friday. The hard-hitting opener blasted five sixes and nine fours in his 58-ball knock, sharing in half-century stands with David Miller (39 off 23) and Ravi Bopara (30) as the hosts amassed 179 for two. Rilee Rossouw then top-scored for the visitors with 44 from 28 balls, but no one else kicked on as the Free Staters saw their three-match winning streak abruptly ended. The Sunfoil Dolphins, who made a whopping five changes to their embattled line-up, again made a stuttering start to their innings by losing one of their openers early. One of those new faces Divan van Wyk made just five, before he fell to a stunning Shadley van Schalkwyk catch on the deep-cover boundary – the fielder running almost 20 metres before throwing himself to his right to ta ...

CAPE TOWN: The Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras powered their way to a convincing nine-wicket RAM SLAM T20 Challenge victory over the Sunfoil Dolphins in front of a large and enthusiastic Sahara Park Newlands crowd on Sunday.  Richard Levi was in devastating form, powering his way to an unbeaten 80 to lead his team home.   Daryn Smit won the toss and took first use of a slowish pitch.  His team got off to a poor start under a blazing late summer sun, losing the top three for just 22.  Ravi Bopara was instrumental in the recovery, racing to 60 off 44 balls with three sixes and three fours.  He was assisted by Vaughn van Jaarsveld in a partnership of 84 for the fourth wicket, a new Sunfoil Dolphins record.    It might have been an abject disaster for the Sunfoil Dolphins had the match not been televised, as Van Jaarsveld was bowled by Beuran Hendricks for ten only to be recalled as third umpire Karl Hurter ruled the delivery a no-ball.   Charl Langeveldt and Hendricks each took two wickets, again impressin ...
Levi pummels Dolphins Cape Town - Richard Levi blasted the Cape Cobras to a convincing victory over the Dolphins in their T20 Challenge encounter at Newlands on Sunday. Chasing 135 runs to win, Levi smashed an unbeaten 80 off 53 balls as the hosts reached 137 for one to bag a nine-wicket win with 20 deliveries to spare. The Proteas opener hammered seven fours and three sixes to take control of the match for the home side. The Cobras lost the early wicket of opener Stiaan van Zyl in the fifth over, but Levi led a recovery effort with skipper Dane Vilas, who contributed 43 not out in an unbroken 115-run stand for the second wicket. Earlier, Ravi Bopara and Vaughn van Jaarsveld carried the Dolphins' middle order after they had won the toss and opted to bat. The visitors were reduced to 22 for three in the sixth over, but Bopara hit 60 off 44 balls before he was run out, and Van Jaarsveld made a controlled 36 at a little slower than a run a ball. The duo combined in a 84-run partnership for the fourth wicket, ...
The Sunfoil Dolphins have produced a below- average performance in their Ram Slam T20 Challenge match against the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras.  Their total of 134 was built around an exhilirating knock from English international Ravi Bopara after some tight bowling up front.   After winning the toss on a hot Cape Town afternoon, Daryn Smit chose to bat first.  On a slowing pitch, Charl Langeveldt and Beuren Hendricks kept things tight up front.  Khaya Zondo edged the very first ball from Langeveldt to Owais Shah at slip, but it went through his hands, but Jonathan Vandiardeparted a few balls later to a controversial leg before decision.  Zondo and cody Chetty followed him in short order, both trying to hit Hendricks out of the ground.   With the Dolphins in trouble at 22 for three, the experienced duo of Vaughn van Jaarsveld and Bopara rebuilt the innings.  They speeded up as the overs ran out, adding 84 off 80 balls.  Their partnership was both a new record for the franchise and at the ground.  Va ...
Match Details: Dhaka Gladiators 172 for 9 (Anamul 58, Rubel 4-44) beat Chittagong Kings 129 (Mahmudullah 44, Thomas 3-19, Mosharraf 3-26) by 43 runs A mix of the unheralded, the young and a Twenty20 stalwart in Mosharraf Hossain, Anamul Haque and Alfonso Thomas helped Dhaka Gladiators to a second consecutive BPL title with a 43-run win over Chittagong Kings. When Enamul Haque jnr was run out by Darren Stevens in the 17th over, it ended a campaign in which they were favourites from start to finish. During the Kings' chase of 173, Mosharraf took three crucial wickets in the middle to trigger a collapse, and for this he was the Man of the Match. The left-arm spinner broke the promising 25-run second-wicket partnership between Nurul Hasan and Jason Roy. Nurul holed out to long-off before Saqlain Sajib took the wicket of Ravi Bopara, a batsman not in the best of form. Mosharraf then took the key wicket of Ryan ten Doeschate, caught at point by Tillakaratne Dilshan for just 2. A ball later, he bowled Roy to lea ...
Sohail Tanvir,Azhar Mahmood,Sajit Patel,Owais Shah,Ravi Bopara. It's fair to say that RAM SLAM has not drawn the big names in world cricket.
Dhaka Gladiators 168/6 (20/20 ov) Chittagong Kings 139/9 (20.0/20 ov) Gladiators won by 30 runs! Though Kings are defeated by the Gladiators but remember, Kings didn't play with their full strength. As the major players Shaun Tait, Kevon Cooper, David Miller, Ravi Bopara, Mahmudullah Riyad, Nayeem Islam didn't play today's match. It was an experimental match for the Kings to explore the local talents and they got the feedback! 19 years old Nurul Hasan who scored 43 (30b 5x4 2x6) SR: 143.33 can be a successful replacement for inform Brendan Taylor and 17 years old Taskin Ahmed can be a better choice to make entry in the top eleven for the playoffs, can be very useful on death overs. In his 4 overs he just gave away 31runs with one wicket wicket and economy rate of 7.75
'It's great to show you can come through as an Asian sportsman' A 19-year-old Leicestershire allrounder is proving to other cricketing hopefuls from his community that they can make it too Shiv Thakor seems unflustered by his - admittedly premature - anointing as the British Asian community's next great cricketing hope. Combining a classical batting technique with canny medium pace, Thakor has raised legitimate hopes that he can become the first British Asian allrounder to prosper for England. It has been a challenge for players of Asian background to forge lengthy and successful international careers. The likes of Ravi Bopara, Samit Patel and even Monty Panesar have had their detractors and have spent long periods out of the side. To try to make the grade as an allrounder is an even greater task. Thakor shrugs away such concerns. "Obviously there is going to be the pressures of expectation, but it's something that I've grown up with and it's something that I enjoy." He may be a 19-year-old who has played ...

Kings players Shaun Tait, Ravi Bopara, Arafat Sunny, Enamul Haque Jr, Jason Roy and Taskin Ahmed were present during the ceremony which was followed by a fashion show. Kings owner Sameer Quader Chowdury also attended the programme. The West Indies legend later spoke to the press. On his experience with Chittagong Kings so far “It is great to see how the team interacts off the field. Chittagong Kings might not have started well in the tournament. We just have one win in three matches but we are an improving team. I think theteam is going to move from strength to strength but I did enjoy interacting with you people and I have enjoyed the show, it was really wonderful.” What are the differences that you have found between Bangladesh and the Caribbean? “Obviously it is a much bigger country here, but similarities are with the friendly ...

Ravi Bopara used to go to my Sixth form!
Nothing to show for two sessions with the ball. England could do with Ravi Bopara or to come on and mix it up!
Breanan bowling at 80mph. Not quite Ravi bopara pace.
Joe Root already has a better test reputation than Ravi Bopara
Only Nick Knight would bring up Ravi Bopara's name as still a test option for England.
Bopara had far too many chances in an England shirt. Samit been very harshly treated in general though
Owais Shah, Ravi Bopara, Samit Patel.faces dont fit - but bit too early in the morning to question why...
