Some people have asked where they can hear and buy the songs that we sing, because we only have the one CD that doesn't have some of the ones we have more recently learned. We just want to give credit to the groups that have written and/or recorded many of the songs we play, and we encourage you to buy their albums and keep Bluegrass and Bluegrass gospel alive and kickin'! We hope to make another CD in the near future and hope to have at least 15 to 20 songs on it. Keep checking back for that! Some of the songs we sing are traditional hymns or of unknown origin, But some are more recently written.. many have asked about "Vision of Mother". That was by The Stanley Brothers ( Dr. Ralph Stanley ) and also recorded by Ricky Skaggs and Dolly Parton, and can be found on Ricky's album "Don't Cheat in our Hometown". "There is A God" was written and recorded by Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver . "By The Mark" was written by Gillian Welch and also recorded by Official Dailey & Vincent. We also sing many songs by Bill . ...
Say hello to our friend ….Jeff Brown Jeff is the guitarist for The Love is Loud!! A multi-instrumentalist, with diverse taste, he holds a very ambient and textured style, which provides a large canvas to place the music upon. The Love is Loud !! will be releasing two, full length LP’s Vol 1 & 2 in the Fall. - // INSPIRATION // Growing up, I was fortunate enough to play with a lot of really talented individuals that provided me with all kinds of encouragement, mentoring, and exposed me to a very wide range of music. I had Johnny Cash, Elvis, and Ralph Stanley floating thru my house, and Led Zeppelin, early U2, and The Smiths, floating thru my fingers on my guitar. //SOUND // I am self proclaimed gadget geek. I am constantly experimenting and toying around with new sounds, filters, pedals, instruments, and amps. Went to guitar center yesterday and as I walked into the acoustic room an older gentleman was playing on a guitar. you could tell right away he was a seasoned player. I set in the privacy room with the doors open. And as I set down he started playing a song that I'm familiar with so I joined in. we both played and sang songs together for about 45 min. and then he gave me a lesson on the guitar. I can't recall his name, but he told me he played with a band named, Ralph Stanley and The Clinch Mountain Boys. So afterwards I went home and checked it out on youtube. Sure enough he was telling the truth.
my dad's was good friends with Earl Scruggs and Lester flat. They taught him how to play. He played with them, Ralph Stanley ,
A little info about Black Sunday '35 EmiSunshine is a 9 Year old with the heart and soul of 100 old time musicians tangled up inside her. She writes and performs with every ounce of her being. Her influences are Buddy and Julie Miller, Emmylou Harris, Mike Farris and Levon Helm. Writing or Co-Writing 16 out of the 18 songs on this Album Emi brought an eclectic mix to fruition. She has several old time Killin' Songs and loves to spin a yarn about love gone wrong. At 9 you might think Taylor, Justin or the likes would be her influences but not so with little Emi. Emi grew up listening to everything from Tom Petty to Ralph Stanley. She is more likely to belt out a Bob Dylan Tune than a Disney teen sensation melody. Emi divides her days between lovin on her Turkeys, Chickens and Pot Belly Piggies and making music with her family. Playing more than 100 gigs last year alone Emi has a lot of experience under her tiny belt! Emi Began singing out live at 4, Wrote her first song at 5 and began playing the ukelele a ...
Musical career: Ezel is my little hometown in Morgan county. In 1969 he performed in a musical contest in Ezel, Kentucky, with brother Dwight on five-string banjo. Ricky Skaggs was also in the contest. Skaggs and Whitley hit it off right away and quickly befriended each other. As teenagers, Whitley (15) and Skaggs (16), both born July 1954, were discovered in Ft. *** WV by Ralph Stanley who was 45 minutes late due to a flat tire. Ralph was in a bad mood and when he opened the door of the club he heard the Stanley Brothers playing on what he figured was a jukebox. He said it was two young gentlemen who "sounded just like me and Carter in the early days" (pg 279). [Keith became lead singer for Ralph after Roy Lee Centers funeral in 1974 in a diner (pg 323)] The two soon joined Ralph's band. Whitley also played with J.D. Crowe & the New South in the mid-seventies.[7] During this period, he established himself as one of the most versatile and talented lead singers in bluegrass. His singing was heavily influe ...
