Civil Secretariat re-opens at Jammu : JAMMU, November 10 : The Civil Secretariat re- opened in Jammu today morning. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inspected guard of honour at the Civil Secretariat and offices started Functioning. Along with the Secretariat, the Raj Bhawan, Police Headquarters and other institutions associated with the Move practice also started functioning at Jammu from today. As the Ministers can’t take important decisions due to imposition of Model Code of Conduct and they were busy with election campaigning, they were expected to give a miss to the Secretariat, official sources said.

Omar government is completing its term on January 19. This was decided at a high level meeting held under the chairmanship of Governor, N N Vohra, who is also chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) at Raj Bhawan, Srinagar today. The meeting was attended by Director General of Police K. Rajendra, CEO of Shrine Board, R.K. Gupta, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Shailendra Kumar, IGP Kashmir, A. G. Bharat Ratna sign drive for Biju Patnaik in March BHUBANESWAR: A social organization on Sunday said it would launch a signature campaign, demanding Bharat Ratna for former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik, in March. The campaign will start from colleges and then extended across the state, said convener of Biju Smruti Parishad Sanjay Kumar Mohanty at a news conference here on Saturday. "After completion of the signature campaign, we will submit a memorandum to President Pranab Mukherjee, mentioning the reasons why the former Chief Minister deserves the coveted honour. We will also launch rallies in all districts," said Mohanty. He said the parishad activists would also stage a dharana in front of Raj Bhawan here. "Biju was a leader of international stature. NEWS: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi arrived in Srinagar after laying the foundation stone of a hydro electric power in Jammu region. The Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), an umbrella body of various employees associations and unions, has also decided to stage a sit-in protest outside Raj Bhawan in Jammu on Saturday amid pen-down strike.
