Brendan Rodgers’ side are down in 11th place in the Premier League table after a stuttering start to the season which has seen them pick up only 14 points from 11 games. Liverpool also finished second under Benitez in the 2008/09 campaign - winning 25 matches and losing just two games but drawing 11 times to finish four points behind champions Manchester United. But Benitez’s side also struggled the following season and took 18 points from the first 11 games in the 2009/10 campaign in which they eventually finished seventh. Benitez told Sky Sports News HQ: “You have to have this experience and say ‘what can we do now?’. We cannot change what happened so we have to think ‘what can we do for the future? How can we be in the same position?’ So I think that’s the ...

There is work to do on this team, and this is always more agreeable than, say, walking into Old Trafford to take over a Manchester United team who have won the league by a mile. At Stamford Bridge, Rafa Benitez hands over a squad with flaws, which lacks balance, depth and power in areas. Yet it is a squad which retains a formidable ...

Second-half goals from Eden Hazard and Ramires ensured that Chelsea remains in the FA Cup as a comeback equaled first-half Manchester United goals from Wayne Rooney and Chicharito. The first half was dominated by the Red Devils as Chelsea endured a torrid first 10 minutes, with Chicharito opening the scoring with a header, before Rooney extended the lead with a fortuitous free kick. It was truly a tale of two halves though as Chelsea controlled the second period, eventually getting its just rewards with a stunning effort from Eden Hazard and a smart finish from Ramires The Blues were unable to complete the comeback despite some late pressure. Sir Alex Ferguson chose to retain the bulk of the side that fell to a disappointing Champions League exit on Tuesday, though he made four changes as Jonny Evans, Shinji Kagawa, Wayne Rooney and Chicharito came in, at the expense of Nemanja Vidic, Danny Welbeck, Ryan Giggs and Robin Van Persie. Rafa Benitez, meanwhile, made wholesale changes as only Petr Cech, David L ...

January 11, 2013 Stoke v. Chelsea Preview (Sky Sports) Tony PullisStoke will feel that they are entertaining Chelsea at a good time, with the Blues having wobbled of late. The Potters came unstuck in their last Premier League outing, against Manchester City, but that was their first setback in 11 matches. The consistency displayed by Tony Pulis' side has them sat inside the top 10, but 11 draws have prevented them from pushing into the pack chasing European qualification. A morale-boosting victory over Chelsea could see them back in that particular hunt, though, and Stoke have yet to taste defeat in front of their own supporters this season. Rafa Benitez will be all too aware of that fact when he takes his troops to the Britannia Stadium. Chelsea suffered a painful Capital One Cup defeat to Swansea in midweek, while they also came unstuck in their last top flight outing - against Queens Park Rangers. They need to get back on track if they are to keep their fading title hopes alive, with Manchester United ...

New Rumor- Lampard to Manchester United- Wilkins sees United benefit in Lampard. Wilkins, who worked with Lampard when he was assistant manager at Stamford Bridge, believes Chelsea's loss can be Manchester United's gain. "He'll cost nothing, he's about four years younger than [current United players] [Ryan] Giggs and [Paul] Scholes and he scores goals from midfield. He's scored more goals this year than [Michael] Carrick, [Tom] Cleverley and Scholes combined. He's comfortably got two or three more seasons in him. He won't play 90 minutes every week but if he starts 20 games for United he'll score them seven goals. "He was fantastic [against Everton], wasn't he? In the 11 games he's played, he's got six goals already. This is the club's [Chelsea] decision to let him go - it's nothing to do with [interim coach] Rafa Benitez - and in my opinion it's the wrong decision. You need these older players to show the youngsters what it means to play for Chelsea." Lampard has given over 11-years of service to Chelsea ...

Rafa Benitez will be reunited with old rivals Everton when Chelsea visit Goodison Park on Sunday lunchtime. The interim Chelsea boss knows all about David Moyes' side from the Spaniard's days as manager of Liverpool in Merseyside derbies. He is therefore unlikely to receive a warm reception at Goodison Park but he will not be interested in making friends. Benitez also remains unpopular among some Chelsea fans but he has brought about a turnaround in the club's performances. The London outfit have scored 12 goals in their last three Premier League matches and sit third in the table as a result, albeit 11 points behind leaders Manchester United. But fifth-placed Everton could overtake their visitors with a win and they have lost just one of their last eight Premier League games against Chelsea. Moyes will as a result be desperate to improve his record against Benitez, who has won five and drawn one of his last six Premier League meetings with Everton.
Rafa Benitez has insisted that Chelsea will continue to improve as they wait for Manchester City or Manchester United to make further errors in the Premier League title race.
England: Norwich - Chelsea Date: 26.12. Time: 16:00 Norwich City will welcome today Chelsea at Carrow Road in one of the matches from Premier League, an encounter I see to end with the guests as the winning team. Chelsea is coming after a severe win against Aston Villa, 8-0 while Norwich after lost at WBA with 1-2. Norwich has a good home record as lost only one match with Liverpool, and note Manchester United and Arsenal lost with 1-0 against Chris Hughton's boys on Carrow Road so we can say that this one is not going to be an easy road trip for Chelsea. Chelsea won last 2 matches in Premier League and has 2 points ahead of Arsenal, Tottenham, WBA and Everton, all waiting Rafa Benitez's boys to lose point or points today. True Norwich home record is great and with the guests still trying to find their way under their new manager and home team even if will lose this one will not happen by more then 1.5 goals difference and this would have been my bet for this meeting but the fact that home side has some . ...

WENGER CAN PULL OFF TRIPLE TRANSFER BLOW ON FERGIE As he sees Manchester United runaway with the Premier League lead, Arsene Wenger, for his all problems at Arsenal, can stick one in the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson during next month's transfer market. Fergie wants Theo Walcott - and Raheem Sterling, who is also on Wenger's shopping list. The Frenchman can leave his great rival empty-handed by offering Walcott to Liverpool for Sterling in a swap. And should he really want to turn the screw, Wenger can also nick Crystal Palace dazzler Wilfried Zaha ahead of United. For all the pull of United, Zaha is a mad Gooner and given the chance would jump at the opportunity to play at the Emirates. By January 31, it could be Wenger 3, Fergie 0. Chelsea, Man United ahead in race to sign Walcott Following Arsenal Winger Theo Walcott’s contract fall out with the club earlier this season, it is being reported that fellow Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester United have emerged as new favourites to sign the England international. Meanwhile Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez has been a long term admirer of Walcott and looks to urge his superiors to prise him away from Arsenal.
Chelsea already have four Brazilian’s in their side – David Luiz, Oscar, Lucas Paizon and Ramires – and appear keen on adding to that number by targeting Paulinho in January. Former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo appeared to have singled out the 23-year-old as his main target in January, and according to reports that remains the case under new boss Rafa Benitez. Now according to the Mirror Chelsea may face competition from Manchester City after boss Roberto Mancini reportedly identified Paulinho as the man to help his side’s ailing title defence. The Citizens sit six points adrift of rivals Manchester United after their 3-2 defeat against Sir Alex Ferguson’s side on Sunday.
Exclusice: Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez has written an open letter to the club's fans pledging to do all he can to bring success to the Stamford Bridge side. Benitez has endured a testing baptism to his time in the Blues hot-seat and has been jeered by some supporters unhappy with his appointment in the wake of Roberto Di Matteo's sacking. The Former Liverpool boss saw his new charges claim their first Premier League win under his tenure at the fourth attempt against Sunderland on Saturday just days after their Champions League defence was brought to a shuddering halt at the group stage. The Spaniard has highlighted the relentless schedule of matches since his appointment, with the Sunderland game their fifth in a fortnight, and was keen to pay tribute to the Chelsea fans who have been in touch to offer their support. Benitez told his personal website: "From the moment I accepted the offer to join Chelsea, my team and I have worked towards improving the results and getting the wins that we all want - no m ...
Two under-pressure managers meet at the Stadium of Light as Martin O’Neill’s Sunderland aims for only a third victory of the season against a Chelsea side that after impressively topping the league in late October, now finds itself with a new manager in Rafa Benitez and 10 points behind league leaders Manchester United. Indeed, even Benitez’ first win as interim boss of the Blues against Danish side FC Nodsjaelland in midweek was tempered by their exit from the Champions League at the group stage, the first time the defending European cham
Rafa Benitez has again defended Fernando Torres, saying the Chelsea striker is starting to score a lot in training while praising his defensive work. Torres has now gone over 11 hours without a goal, but Benitez said confidence is still not an issue for the £50 million striker. "Fernando is doing a great job," he said. "Yesterday we have a training session with finishing and Fernando scored a lot of goals. I think he has more confidence and, the team-mates, they know he is trying very hard and that is the main thing." Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville criticised Torres' movement on Monday night but, asked about the Former Manchester United defender's comments, Benitez made note of Torres work off the ball and when defending set-pieces. "I think Fernando is a great player and the team know he is a great player. If he is in the right positions they will play with him; if he is in the wrong positions, maybe not. I can make a lot of analyses here, watching television, one way or another and I will be right. "I ...

By the time am back here next year, Rafa Benitez should had been sacked, chelsea officially out of UCL, Arsenal slowly dropping form, A Cole a Manchester United player(oh yes), Thierry Henry on loan to Arsenal(will love this), and yes Falcao a Man City or Chelsea player, Aubameyang a Newcastle player or better still Aston Villa(one reason I want to see more of Emerick, his cute hair), ETC.
Rafa Benitez could not inspire Chelsea to victory over Manchester City in his first game in charge and was the subject of protests from some fans in a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge. The Spaniard has succeeded the sacked Roberto Di Matteo on an interim basis and his former connection with Liverpool has made him unpopular in London. Sections of the Chelsea support held up banners against Benitez and they also stood and applauded in the 16th minute, which was Di Matteo's shirt number in his playing days, before the game ended in a forgettable 0-0 draw. Sergio Aguero wasted the best chance of a turgid Premier League encounter in driving rain, which the visitors had the better of in the first half but the home side the second. The draw moved unbeaten champions City to within a point of new leaders Manchester United, leaving Chelsea fourth. Benitez has shored up the Blues' defence during his four days in charge but he has his work cut out to get them playing the scintillating football demanded by the watchin ...

THE MANCHESTER UNITED CONSPIRACY Ever wondered why referees who give United bad decisions never repeat the trick? It's because they get taught a heavy lesson from Fergie, The FA & PGMOB. The conspiracy unravels within. The fortunes of the institutions surrounding football in the UK will be negatively hit should any proof of corruption come out. It is naturally in their interest not to investigate the matter. In fact, the managers that have come out and questioned the refereeing selection process (Rafa Benitez, Andre Villas Boas) have been turned into laughing stocks by the English press corps. So, investigate some more I did. And some of the stuff I found out surprised even me. During United’s title winning 2010/11 season, they only lost 4 league games. I looked at who refereed those games and how long they then spent without being assigned Manchester United games as well their subsequent trend of behavior towards United. Michael Oliver took charge of their first defeat, the February 2011 2-1 loss at ...
Consistency – That’s What I Want Posted on 29. Oct, 2012 by Adam Smith in Blog, Debate Who shot JFK? Did man really land on the moon? Why do Manchester United get more favourable decisions then any other team? I don’t believe in conspiracy theories. I don’t believe that there’s some grand plan by the FA to help Manchester United win matches. But I do believe that there are too many incorrect big refereeing decisions week in, week out and something needs to be done. This weekend David Moyes opined that diving will drive people away from football. I think his sentiment is right, but his topic is wrong. Diving won’t drive people away anywhere near as much as consistently poor refereeing will. On Sunday Liverpool played Everton at Goodison Park, refereed by Andre Mariner. And he was poor. All three of the officials were poor. Throw-ins given the wrong way, free-kicks given for nothing.
