So according to Sky Sports we've made a bid for Sevilla Left back Alberto Moreno. What do you think of this as a back four next season. Flanno. Ilori. Sakho. Moreno. 21yrs. 21yrs. 24yrs. 21yrs. At a first glance it looks young and inexperienced, but take into account that you have the French Captain, Primera Liga experience and Premiership experience amongst them, it doesn't look so bad. FC Porto are set to face major interest from the Premier League for Jackson Martinez after revealing their star striker may leave the club. Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are amongst those interested in bringing the Colombian to England, according to the Daily Star. Martinez has become one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe after scoring 46 goals over the last two seasons in the Primera Liga. Initially, the Portuguese champions wanted to keep the 27-year-old for another season but may now cash in to avoid losing him for free next summer when his contract expires. It is reported that Martinez has a clause in his contract allowing him to move for £32million. In recent years, Porto have sold various of their biggest names including Hulk, Radamel Falcao and Joao Moutinho. The club are in no financial troubles forcing them to sell this time round but are aware keeping Martinez for another season could prove difficult, especially if the player attracts more admirers at this summer’s World Cup ...
Real Madrid and Barcelona clash in a Clasico encounter with much more than just pride on the line as the race for the Primera Liga crown enters the final stretch. It was Barca who earned bragging rights in the reverse fixture in October as Neymar and Alexis Sanchez secured a 2-1 win at the Nou Camp, although it is the Galacticos in the driving seat this weekend as they sit three points clear at the top of the standings. In fact, Carlo Ancelotti's men enjoy a four-point lead over the Catalans, who are third in the table and one point below Atletico Madrid, who they will face in the Champions League quarter-finals. A Madrid win would, therefore, hoist the Spanish giants seven points above the defending champions and six clear of Atletico, who are only in action 24 hours later, against Real Betis. On the team news front, the hosts, who come up against Borussia Dortmund in the last-eight of the European Cup, are unlikely to have Karim Benzema available this weekend as he struggles with a hamstring strain. Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Rui Patricio wanted at both Emirates Stadium and Anfield Arsenal and Liverpool will have to increase their bids to land Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Rui Patricio, according to Portuguese newspaper Diario De Noticias. SEVILLA JESUS NAVAS:I'M JOINING Manchester City Spanish midfielder Jesus Navas has claimed he is on the brink of joining Manchester City after bidding farewell to Seville. The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium and could be the first player to join City under the new regime headed by manager in waiting Manuel Pellegrini. Navas is certainly keen on the idea and after the final game of the Primera Liga season at the weekend he made it plain his heart is set on helping City regain the Premier League title. ‘I’m open to anything. I want to win more and reach my goals,’ Navas said, before revealing he has been in contact with City officials. ‘Manchester City has done all it can to bring me in and I have to be grateful for that. I want to go on and win trophies.’ Navas was part of the Spain squads which won both the World Cup in 2010 and the Euros in 2012 and his chief assets are his close control and an ability to run at defenders with pace.
Barca, Real hit back to win Barcelona bounced back from their UEFA Champions League defeat to beat Sevilla at home as Real Madrid also came from a goal down to overcome Deportivo La Coruna. Lionel Messi scored for the 15th Primera Liga game in a row as leaders Barcelona recovered to beat Sevilla 2-1 at Camp Nou. Sevilla silenced the home crowd three minutes before half-time when Alberto Botia headed home Coke's set-piece. But the fit-again David Villa headed Barcelona level seven minutes into the second half before Messi struck the winner on the hour mark. Gonzalo Higuain scored an 88th-minute winner as Real Madrid came from a goal down to sneak past a gutsy Deportivo La Coruna side 2-1 away from home. Depor broke the deadlock in the 35th minute when Riki latched on to Pizzi's pass, cut in between defensive duo Ricardo Carvalho and Pepe before beating Diego Lopez at his near post. Higuain had a goal ruled out for offside in the second half before Real deservedly levelled when Kaka fired low into the net f ...

Brighton will check on the fitness of defender Bruno before going in search of another Premier League scalp in the FA Cup fourth round, with Arsenal hoping to avoid suffering the same fate as Newcastle at the AMEX Stadium. Premier League Champions Manchester City have been heavily linked with a swoop for the 20-year-old midfielder, who it was thought has a £17million release clause inserted in his current deal. However director of football Mario Husillos has revealed that Isco will resist any offers from City and other reported interested parties such as Italian giants Juventus, by signing a new deal to stay with Malaga. We will be here shortly to announce the renewal of his contract. It's not renewed as yet, but I think it will be very shortly. BARCA STUNNED; GRANADA WIN Barcelona suffered their first defeat of the season as they went down 3-2 to Real Sociedad in the Primera Liga. Barca had previously dropped just two points all season and looked set to extend their remarkable record to 19 wins out of 20 as they opened up a two-goal lead, only to be stunned by a Sociedad fightback. Lionel Messi opened the scoring when he latched onto Andres Iniesta's pass and cut in to slot a left-footed shot low past Sociedad goalkeeper Claudio Bravo from the edge of the penalty area. Pedro added a second on 25 minutes with a finish from close range after Xavi dinked the ball over the top for Dani Alves to cross. However, Gonzalo Castro halved Sociedad's deficit before the interval with a brilliant strike and Barca were reduced to ten men in the 56th minute as Gerard Pique was sent off for a second bookable offence. Castro's curling effort was then deflected into his own net by Barca substitute Javier Mascherano to make it 2-2, and Imanol Agirretxe poked Carlos ...
Almost half of skysports.com readers believe Jose Mourinho will be managing Chelsea again next season. The Real Madrid boss announced his intent to return to English football in the future during an interview with Sky Sports earlier this week. Mourinho's position at the Bernabeu has become tentative, with Madrid third in the Primera Liga, 18 points adrift of leaders Barcelona. Meanwhile, Rafael Benitez is struggling to win over the Blues faithful in his inconsistent interim reign at Stamford Bridge, prompting calls for the return of 'The Special One' this summer. And in a Skysports.com readers' poll, 44 per cent of the votes identified Chelsea as the club most likely to be managed by Mourinho next season, with his current employers receiving just 2 per cent. Surprisingly, Manchester United received 22 per cent of the votes, but with Sir Alex Ferguson giving no indication that he intends to stand down from his job, Mourinho to be at Old Trafford next season is unlikely. Manchester City took in 16 per cent ...
ARE ENGLISH TEAMS WEAKER TEAMS ? Balon D’Or a triumph for Spanish football, but is La Liga best in the world? The awards Gala for the Balon D’Or held in Zuruch on Monday night can be seen as a fiesta for Spanish football. Not only did the three finalists for the prestigious Balon D’Or, Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Andres Iniesta all play in the Spanish BBVA Primera Liga, all play for either FC Barcelona or Real Madrid, but the 11 players named in the ideal team of 2012 all play in Spain. Meanwhile Vicente del Bosque, named the best coach of theyear, is the coach of the Spanish national team, while the other two nominees, Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola are the current Real Madrid and former Barca coach in turn.
Swansea boss Michael Laudrup says star man Michu is 'staying put' in January Liverpool want Tom Ince from Blackpool for 4 mill wont sell unless its 6 mill or more Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is looking to bolster his goalkeeping options, with only Mike Pollitt providing back-up to No.1 Ali Al Habsi. Martinez has been scouring the transfer market for a new keeper and Cobeno has come onto his radar. The 30-year-old has found his first-team opportunities limited this season, making just eight appearances for the Primera Liga side. The former Sevilla goalkeeper's contract at Rayo expires this summer and it is thought he could be allowed to leave on a free transfer this month. Martinez has already brought in Honduras midfielder Roger Espinoza and Manchester United's on-loan striker Angelo Henriquez this month and he is now weighing up a move to bring Cobeno to the DW Stadium.
Please??? Anfield return possible for Bernabeu midfielder? Xabi Alonso has admitted he could return to the Premier League as his ongoing contract talks remain clouded in uncertainty at Real Madrid. The Spain international is under terms at the Bernabeu until the summer of 2014 but his hesitation in committing his future has led to speculation. Liverpool are reported to want to re-sign Alonso some three-and-a-half years after selling him to Real in a £30million deal and it is not yet out of the question. “I’ve no idea what will happen,” World Cup, Champions League, Primera Liga and European Championship winner Alonso told Spanish media. “I have not decided on my future. I will only stay at Real Madrid if I can offer the same level on the pitch as I can now and we will see what happens in the next few months. “There is always a chance I could go back to the Premier League as I always enjoyed good times there.” SOURCE: Sky Sports Liverpool fans would of course love to see Xabi Alonso make an emo ...

Chelsea have appointed Spaniard Rafael Benitez as interim manager at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season. The 52-year-old, who spent six years at Liverpool where he won the Champions League, will meet the Chelsea players at their training ground in Cobham on Thursday. Mr Benitez is a two-time Uefa Manager of the Year. He began his coaching career in Spain where he won the Primera Liga with Valencia. He has also managed in Italy with Inter Milan. Mr Benitez, speaking in Abu Dhabi, told Sport360: "I am looking for a club that can challenge for trophies and Chelsea is one of these clubs." Kudos to Lionel Messi for adding the 2011/2012 Primera Liga player of the season to his palatable list of accolades. Indeed, La Pulga deserves such prodigious award, and come January 7, 2013, MessiDonna will win a record fourth Ballon D'Or. Such a prestigious award from all indication is not about collective triumph, but individual superlatives, as it is for the player who performed the most irrespective of his team winning all the trophies. Remember, the legendary George Weah did not win the Ligue 1 or the Champions League in 1995, but still won the Ballon D'Or with 144 votes ahead of then Bundesliga dangerman Jurgen Klinsman and the Champions League winner Jari Litmanen. So, while Ronaldo won the Primera Liga and the Atomic Flea did not win a so-called major trophy, he still performed more than any other player. Ronaldo is great, but Messi is greater, and with the 25 year old Rosario native already beaten Edson Arantes Dos Nascimento (King Pele) 1958 record of 75 goals scored in a calendar year, with n ...

Karanka praises Real Madrid's defensive solidarity against Celta Vigo The Spaniard highlighted the importance of the team's rearguard during their victory, while also explaining the reason why Kaka was replaced at the start of the second half By Oliver Twist Michael (upcoming) Spainish Football Writer 20 Oct 2012 23:30:00 Aitor Karanka - Real Madrid Real Madrid assistant coach Aitor Karanka has pointed out the fundamental role his defenders played during Saturday's 2-0 victory over Celta, especially given the enforced absence of key members at the back. Midfielder Michael Essien and youngster Raphael Varane impressed against the Primera Liga minnows, and drew praise from Jose Mourinho's backroom team. "The back four played very well. Brazilian side Santos have rubbished reports suggesting that Manchester United tabled a big-money bid for Neymar on transfer deadline day. It has been suggested that the Premier League outfit put a £38million offer to Santos prior to the summer window slamming shut. Having missed out on Neymar's countryman Lucas Moura to Paris St Germain, Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly turned his attention to a player who has attracted interest from Europe's biggest clubs. The 20-year-old Samba sensation has long been linked with a switch to Spain, with Primera Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona prepared to battle it out for his signature. United were understood to be hoping a late swoop would see their efforts pass under the radar, allowing them to wrap up a deal before rival clubs could offer a response. Not true Santos, though, insist they were never contacted by United. The South American outfit have always maintained that they are happy for Neymar to remain in his homeland for as long as he wants, and he has offere ...
Sky Sports news. Bring them on! There is a possibility the title winners from England, Spain, Italy and Germany could all be drawn together in the same group. The worst-case scenario for Manchester City would see the Premier League champions having to face Real Madrid of the Primera Liga, Italian champions Juventus and German Bundesliga winners Borussia Dortmund. City could therefore also be drawn in the same group as European powerhouses such as Barcelona or Bayern Munich, which would make the task of qualifying for the knockout stages that much harder.

Call me 'unique' not 'special' says Mourinho Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho said Tuesday that he would prefer to be known as the "unique one" rather than the "special one" as a result of his achievements. "I'm the only one to have won the three biggest championships in the world," Mourinho said in an interview on Portuguese television channel Sic. "So whether it pleases or not, if one recognises my value or not... people should may be call me 'unique' rather than 'special' until someone else wins three championships like me." It was Mourinho who proclaimed himself to be the "special one" when he was coach of English Premier League side Chelsea from 2004 to 2007. The Portuguese coach joined Real Madrid in 2010 and won the Primera Liga title in his second season to become one of the few coaches to win titles in four different countries -- Portugal, England, Italy and Spain.
