1. Calling the Priests "Father" is forbidden FACT: Catholics are taught to call their priest, "Father", as a religious title of respect. Christians in the first century never called their leaders, "father". This first happened hundreds of years later. Question Does Jesus approve of calling the leaders of the church, "Father"? Answer : Matthew 23:9 o YES NO o "Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. Matthew 23:9 2. Praying repetitive words using Rosary beads is forbidden. FACT: Catholics pray repetitive words with Rosary Beads that were first invented in 1090 AD, by "Peter the Hermit" and made popular by St. Dominic in 1208 AD. Catholics believe that Mary appeared to St. Dominic in 1208 AD, at the church of Prouille and revealed the Rosary Beads to him. From this time, Catholics prayed 15 sets of 10 consecutive "hail Marys" in a row (150 times), in the Rosary. However, in 2003 AD, Pope John Paul added a new set of Mysteries, so now it is 20 sets of 10 "Hail Mar ...

Muslim Belief This is a true story and the author, Rick Mathes, is a well-known leader in prison ministry. The man who walks with God always gets to his destination. If you have a pulse you have a purpose. The Muslim religion is the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States, especially in the minority races!!! Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained each of their beliefs. I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say. The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video. After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers. When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Imam and asked: Please, correct me if Im wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [H ...

Gripping Mystery Now at the Ahmanson In 1978, a little-known country priest is inaugurated as Pope John Paul I in an uneasy compromise. Thirty-three days after his election, he is found dead and no autopsy is performed. David Suchet (Agatha Christie’s Poirot, PBS) stars in a gripping mystery, inspired by the true-life event. "Conspiracy theories surrounding the pope's sudden demise ran rampant after his death and continue to this day," writes the Los Angeles Times. "'He was buried without an autopsy — the quickest burial of any pope in living history. We will never know to this day what happened,'" added Suchet. Read the complete article. The Last Confession is now open and runs through July 6 at the Ahmanson Theatre.

4 years ago I walked into Pope John Paul II High School for the first time. I was a shy, intimidated 14 year old freshmen. That memory to me seems like yesterday. As tomorrow I walk into Splendora High School for the last time as an official student. These last 4 years have been a roller coaster; full of ups and downs and twists and turns, yet a lot of fun the whole time. Sadly, all things must come to an end. All incoming high schoolers and current under classmen, take my advice. Enjoy every minute of these 4 years, because you blink and they're gone. High school has come and gone for me, but I have a lot of things left in life to accomplish. So lets get it started!

Nine years. Nine long gut wrenching years! Arsenal has finally lifted a trophy. I must say I liked it much better when our captains had back pains from lifting the *** things. I’m not waiting nine years for the next one! You hear me Wenger? To my long-suffering fellow gunners, here’s an A-Z insight into your personality. Arsenal fans are: A barrel of laughs. I guess we needed a sense of humour to take us through those hard times. Badass. This reflects in everything we do. We’re tough, aggressive and formidable. We strive for excellence.  Calendrical. We will tell you to the millisecond; the lasttime we won a trophy (Incase you’re wondering it’s been five days….!) Day dreamers. We always think that one day, Wenger will actually spend serious money on players. Ebullient. We have undying spirit. We never jump ship. Thoughts on Eco-Spirituality from Saint Pope John Paul ll: In a message for the World Environment Day, June 5, 1995, John Paul II, the "ecologist" pope of the Catholic Church, reiterated his concern for the Earth, our home, created by God with a delicate balance which must be maintained and, where it is necessary, restored. The Earth is not ours to do as we please. He continued, as always, to emphasize the dignity of the human person, the importance of the common good, the value of human life and the protection of the weakest. He appealed to end this very moment the plundering of the Earth to satisfy ever growing demands for consumer goods and for greater profits as an end in itself. This link on Eco-Spirituailty

Redemptoris Mater, Bl. Pope John Paul II 6. All this is accomplished in a great historical process, comparable "to a journey." The pilgrimage of faith indicates the interior history, that is, the story of souls. But it is also the story of all human beings, subject here on earth to transitoriness, and part of the historical dimension. In the following reflections we wish to concentrate first of all on the present, which in itself is not yet history, but which nevertheless is constantly forming it, also in the sense of the history of salvation. Here there opens up a broad prospect, within which the Blessed Virgin Mary continues to "go before" the People of God. Her exceptional pilgrimage of faith represents a constant point of reference for the Church, for individuals and for communities, for peoples and nations and, in a sense, for all humanity. It is indeed difficult to encompass and measure its range. The Council emphasizes that the Mother of God is already the eschatological fulfillment of the Church: ...

"At this moment in the Church's history, the Charismatic Renewal can play a significant role in promoting the much-needed defense of Christian life in societies where secularism and materialism have weakened many people's ability to respond to the Spirit and to discern God's loving call. Pope Francis is visiting Israel. I mean… Israel and Palestine. Or should I say Israel and the Palestinian Authority...? Well, let's just say - The Holy Land. The closest I ever came to the Pope was when I flew the entourage of His Holiness Pope John Paul II during his visit here in 2000.
Dr. Gersten reports that, "Dreams of Sai Baba are more than dreams. They are genuine visions and have as much validity as if one were actually awake and in his physical presence in India. The letter from Pope John Paul II has its roots in a "Baba Dream." In the early 1980's Sai Baba said that the Sai Baba Centers around the world needed to be singing some bhajans (devotional songs) in the language of a given country. More specifically, for the United States he said that the mix of English to Indian language bhajans should be at least 50:50, but preferably 80 percent in English. Like many physicians, I am a musician, specifically a classically-trained guitarist. After hearing of Sai Baba's recommendation, I began to write English devotional songs, and when I had ten good ones, I began recording them and called the album "Giving and Forgiving". The recording project started in December, 1984 and was completed in 1985, after 80 hours in a recording studio. The final step in recording is what is called, "mixi ...

What is the mark of the beast? Is it the chip, or is it "what Saith The Lord Yah" ? I used to believe the chip, and the biometric tattoo was the mark of the beast. I have since been given revelation from the spirit that it is something else altogether. If anyone wishes to examine the scriptures with me, now. We ought to be very careful what we promote as the "mark" since it is a matter of condemnation to those whom bear it. To be clear, I still warn everyone NOT to take the chip, for it is a means of control in what is becoming "communist/totalitarian" America. satan is the "great counterfeiter" don't ever forget that _ Mark of the beast 00:14:10 duration _ The Mark of the Beast is described in the book of Revelation. Rev 13:16-18, "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. "And they will do this because they have not known the Father or me" (Jn 16:3) If I think of all the people I admire - whether biblical figures, leaders in the Church or people I encounter in daily life - I find that what stands out is their deep relationship with God. They know him. (today's Gospel) Blessed Mother Teresa fed lepers on the street; Pope John Paul II went to the prison cell of the man who had shot at him; St Paul underwent numerous dangerous voyages to preach the good news. Would all this have been possible if they had not known the Father or Jesus? In Acts we see two distinctly different Pauls - the Paul before he knew Jesus and the Paul afterwards. After he met Jesus he became an apostle to the Gentiles. What about us? As Christian do our lives - our deeds, our actions, our whole way of being - portray to the world around us that we know the Lord? Are we making a difference in our homes, workplace, Small Christian Communities, or our Church? One of the best ways to know Jesus or get to kn ...

Redemptoris Mater, Bl. Pope John Paul II 3. The circumstance which now moves me to take up this subject once more is the prospect of the year 2000, now drawing near, in which the Bimillennial Jubilee of the birth of Jesus Christ at the same time directs our gaze towards his Mother. In recent years, various opinions have been voiced suggesting that it would be fitting to precede that anniversary by a similar Jubilee in celebration of the birth of Mary. In fact, even though it is not possible to establish an exact chronological point for identifying the date of Mary's birth, the Church has constantly been aware that Mary appeared on the horizon of salvation history before Christ.6 It is a fact that when "the fullness of time" was definitively drawing near-the saving advent of Emmanuel- he who was from eternity destined to be his Mother already existed on earth. The fact that she "preceded" the coming of Christ is reflected every year in the liturgy of Advent. Therefore, if to that ancient historical expecta ...

Recently Pope Francis declared two previous popes saints: Pope John xxiii and Pope John Paul ii and he is planing to declare another previous pope as a saint,Pope Paul vi.The primary criteria that the Vatican uses to declare a person saint is that the person must work miracles while dead.In declaring previous popes saints show that the Papacy believes and teaches that the dead are still alive, the natural immortality of the soul.According the Bible it is only God who has the right authority to declare people saints[Rev 14:12].The ceremony conducted by Pope Francis declaring people saints shows that he believes that he is God.THIS IS BLASPHEMY AGAINST GOD.John 10:30-33.my malawi my views

Many of those nations, notably Spain, Italy and Greece, have so low a birthrate in their main ethnic groups, that it is already too late for them to recover and rebuild their populations; they are going to be submerged by their Muslim immigrants. This raised a related thought for me. When the Catholic Church had to replace Pope John Paul the Second, I said that they should elect Cardinal Arinze of Nigeria as their next Pope, disarming everyone who charges the Roman communion with racism. The College of Cardinals chose instead to elect a blah, ...

Important Dates In The Life Of Pope John Paul II Pope John Paul II waves as he arrives at Miami International Airport at the start of his 1987 trip to the United States. (CNS photo/Joe Rimkus Jr.)The longest reigning pope in modern history, John Paul II, took his message on the road, visiting 129 countries -- several repeatedly -- on 104 trips and logging more than 700,000 miles in a papacy that lasted more than 27 years. Blessed John Paul died at the age of 84 at the Vatican April 2, 2005, the vigil of Divine Mercy Sunday. As the first non-Italian pope in 455 years, John Paul became a spiritual protagonist in two global transitions: the fall of European communism, which began in his native Poland in 1989, and the passage to the third millennium of Christianity. The day of his canonization is Divine Mercy Sunday -- an observance Pope John Paul put on the church's universal calendar in 2000 on the Sunday after Easter. The Polish pope was a longtime enthusiast of the Divine Mercy devotions of St. Faustina . ...

With great joy, the Catholic Church celebrates the Canonization of Pope John XXlll and Pope John Paul ll. Tommy and I could not get close, but had a view the screen (sort of) over the Tiber River, across from Castel San't Angelo. What a festive time to walk the streets around the vatican! No cars, no buses, no honking—just us pilgrims!
My mother was a devote Roman Catholic. She had a dream 3 days ago about Pope John Paul. My mother passed away on a Sunday, Divine Mercy Sunday, the day Pope John Paul was Canonised (whom she loved) and at the same hour that she prayed daily, from 3 - 4pm, (the hour Jesus died) she left this world to meet Our Lord at 3.10 pm. I hope you know I tried my best to look after you ma xx
I am sick to death of constantly hearing about the canonization of the 2 former Popes. I wish the Catholic Church would root out the child molesters and adopt a more humane attitude to adult sexuality. It really enrages me that Pope John Paul the Second is being canonised. A least unlikely candidate if ever there was one. Of course John Paul the Second was a great friend of Margaret Thatcher and Reagan who brought the curse of neo-liberalism which has wrecked the worked, and the de-regulation of Banks with the consequence for all to see

So when was it Ok to call these pedophile Popes, Saints? That decision doesn't belong to the Catholic Church..ONLY GOD knows WHO His Saints are...(unless, " they sit in the seat as God, desiring to be worshipped as God..")only He knows what is in a man's heart..and if this folly is what's inside their hearts..Im sorry, but that makes you a wolf in sheeps clothing!!!( Im not surprised if yall think Pope John Paul is a Saint..after all..."The whole world shall wander after the beast.")

GALILEO GALILEI HONOURED ON ITALIAN STAMP: planned for February, this stamp commemorating the 450th anniversary of the birth of Galileo will be issued by ITALY on 5 April 2014. Galileo was an Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher who revolutionized astronomy. He has been often referred to as the "father of modern science". Galileo's research strengthened his belief in Copernicus' theory that Earth and all other planets revolve around the Sun. In 1616 the Inquisition declared heliocentrism to be formally heretical. Books on heliocentrism were banned and Galileo was ordered to refrain from holding, teaching or defending heliocentric ideas. Galileo was accused twice of heresy by the church for his scientific beliefs. The Inquisition tried Galileo in 1633 and found him "gravely suspect of heresy", after which he was kept under house arrest for the rest of his life. In the 20th century, many popes acknowledged the great scientific achievements of Galileo, and in 1992, Pope John Paul ...

Many years ago, Pope John Paul !! came to Harlem. For days the city had been hard at work, heavy machinery was brought in filling huge potholes in the streets that too long had been neglected and forgotten. City workers scoured and brushed the streets, buildings were cleaned and Harlem was "prettied" up for the Pope's arrival. One women, looking out her apartment window, saw the unusual activity in the heart of Harlem, and commented: "It's nice. But I kinda' wish he could have seen it like it really was". May that serve as a parable for us all.

Prayer for the Family Lord God, from You every family in heaven and on earth takes its name. Father, you are Love and Life. Through Your Son, Jesus Christ, born of woman, and through the Holy Spirit, fountain of divine charity, grant that every family on earth may become for each successive generation a true shrine of life and love. Grant that Your grace may guide the thoughts and actions of husbands and wives for the good of their families and of all the families in the world. Grant that the young may find in the family solid support for their human dignity anfd for their growth in truth and love. Grant that love, strengthened by the Sacrament of mariage, may prove mightier than all the weaknesses and trials through which our families sometimes pass. Through the intercession of the Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that the Church may fruitfully carry out her worldwide mission in and through the family. Through Christ our Lord, Who is the Way, the Truth and the Life for ever and ever. Amen. ~Pope John Paul ...

While preparing the shrimp for tonight's family dinner (approx 15 guests) I was watching/listening to the Frontline story titled "Secrets of the Vatican". After 23 minutes of listening to the victims accounts of Priests raping and abusing children from all over the world, and the Vatican's attempts to cover up the scandal rather than address it, I turned the *** thing off. 23 minutes of an hour long documentary was all I could stand. Pope John Paul and Pope Benedict were *** cowards and if there is such a place, they better be rotting in *** We shall see if this current guy is any different. I am unaware of the previous hundreds of years of these monstrosities committed by this religion on it's children.

Big win over VES! Trailing 31-24 into the half against a very good VES team out of Lynchburg, the Cadets had the defense going throughout the 3rd quarter holding VES to only 8 points and taking a four point lead into the 4th quarter. Outscoring the Bishops 18-16 in the 4th, the Cadets won 61-55 for a very good win as they enter Senior Night tonight against Pope John Paul the Great. Shaheen and Bailey lit it up behind the three point line connecting on 5 between the two of them. However C.J. Wiggins stole the show last night with a game high 18 points and 7 assists. Johnson bucketed 16 and Bailey finished with 11 as both Cadets finished in double digits. The Benedictine Cadets are back in action tonight for Senior Night against Pope John Paul the Great, Tip off is set for 7:00. Good luck Cadets!

"Devotion to the Blessed Virgin is a privileged means “of finding Jesus Christ perfectly, of loving Him tenderly, of serving Him faithfully” (Treatise on True Devotion, n. 62). St. Louis immediately expands this central desire to “love tenderly” into a passionate prayer to Jesus, imploring Him for the grace to participate in the indescribable communion of love that exists between Him and His Mother. Mary's total relativity to Christ and through Him, to the Blessed Trinity, is first experienced in the observation: “You never think of Mary without Mary interceding for you with God. You never praise or honour Mary without Mary's praising and honouring God with you. Mary is altogether relative to God; and indeed, I might well call Her the relation to God. She only exists with reference to God. She is the echo of God that says nothing, repeats nothing, but God. If you say `Mary', She says `God'. St. Elizabeth praised Mary and called Her blessed because She had believed. Mary, the faithful echo of God ...

ST. GILES MARY of ST. JOSEPH In the same year that a power-hungry Napoleon Bonaparte led his army into Russia, Giles Mary of St. Joseph ended a life of humble service to his Franciscan community and to the citizens of Naples. Francesco was born in Taranto to very poor parents. His father’s death left the 18-year-old Francesco to care for the family. Having secured their future, he entered the Friars Minor at Galatone in 1754. For 53 years he served at St. Paschal’s Hospice in Naples in various roles, such as cook, porter or most often as official beggar for that community. “Love God, love God” was his characteristic phrase as he gathered food for the friars and shared some of his bounty with the poor—all the while consoling the troubled and urging everyone to repent. The charity which he reflected on the streets of Naples was born in prayer and nurtured in the common life of the friars. The people whom Giles met on his begging rounds nicknamed him the “Consoler of Naples.” He was canonized i ...
in 1995 Pope John Paul II apologised for the injustices by the Catholic Church against women, as if they were even close to ending injustice
"...But especially contradictory is a notion of Tradition which opposes the universal Magisterium of the Church possessed by the Bishop of Rome and the Body of Bishops. It is impossible to remain faithful to the Tradition while breaking the ecclesial bond with him to whom, in the person of the Apostle Peter, Christ himself entrusted the ministry of unity in his Church... In the present circumstances I wish especially to make an appeal both solemn and heartfelt, paternal and fraternal, to all those who until now have been linked in various ways to the movement of Archbishop Lefebvre, that they may fulfill the grave duty of remaining united to the Vicar of Christ in the unity of the Catholic Church, and of ceasing their support in any way for that movement. Everyone should be aware that formal adherence to the schism is a grave offence against God and carries the penalty of excommunication decreed by the Church's law.(8)" - Blessed Pope John Paul II, Ecclesia Dei Adflicta [The Injured Church of God]

“It is Jesus that you seek when you dream of happiness; He is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; He is the beauty to which you are so attracted; it is He who urges you to shed the masks of a false life. It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives.” Blessed Pope John Paul II

Why go on pilgrimage? A pilgrimage involves a two-way journey, a journey of the heart towards God through the physical and often uncomfortable journey to a holy place. It is amazing that young people respond so generously to this invitation to come to Lourdes. Pope John Paul II challenged young people to join him on particular pilgrimages to different parts of the world every two years. Taize offered a pilgrimage of simplicity and prayer which thousands of young people made each year, sacrificing much to come to meet other young people from different denominations around the world. Lourdes, World Youth Days, Taize and many other local pilgrimages demonstrate that young people are captivated by these pilgrimages which somehow help them in a dramatic way at a particular time on their faith journey. Whatever the initial motivation to make these journeys, it cannot be underestimated what a profound effect they have on them. It has not been uncommon for young people on the Lourdes Youth Pilgrimage to make life ...

RENS Collegiate Player of the Week: JERMAINE LAWRENCE Jermaine Lawrence is an alumni of The RENS out of Pope John Paul XXII High School in Sparta, NJ. His efforts of 18.8 points, 13.0 rebounds and 6.4 blocked shots as a junior earned him national notice. He is now a 6'9 power foward at the University of Cincinnati where he plays 18 minutes a game for the Bearcats as a freshman. Jermaine Lawrence, who has been out with a turf toe injury on his left foot, came back against UCONN last Thursday. “My legs are good,” Lawrence said. “I was surprised at how good I was doing, that I really wasn’t that winded. It was good to get back and just be part of the team again. It’s been a long time, so I’m excited.” Jermaines rebounding was missed a ton by the Bearcats. He's one of the best offensive rebounders on the team. His offensive rebound percentage is near 10%. UC went from pulling down over 40% of their misses to 34.4%. Michael D. Greaney, Center for Economic and Social Justice (www.cesj.org): What we’re concerned with today ...is R. Buckminster Fuller v. the Wage System. And now for another caveat. That’s Wage System, NOT wages. Yes, believe it or not, whenever we’ve said something ungood about the Wage System, there has always been some agent of Big Brother around to howl that we’re advocating abolishing wages. So, to be perfectly clear, we are all in favor of a just wage. We always have been. A just wage is one of the essential features of any economy. If people are not justly compensated for their labor, it’s a sure sign that something is wrong in the system. As Pope John Paul II said, “[I]n every case, a just wage is the concrete means of verifying the justice of the whole socioeconomic system and, in any case, of checking that it is functioning justly.” (Laborem Exercens, § 19.) The problem is that there are some people who will read that statement and declare that the pope has infallibly decla ...

Extract of the book of Prophet Kacou Philippe: 35 And on April 24, 1993, when that voice sounded on the earth to take that mystery from the right hand of the Lamb and to reveal the unknown language, certainly, Daniel could but he was not on earth. You see? But of all the living, pope John Paul II and his cardinals were not worthy. The thousands of prophets were not worthy. Billy Graham, Frank Ewald, Osborn, Billy Paul and Joseph Branham were not worthy. The pastoral schools were not worthy. The Holy Spirits that act in catholic, protestant, evangelical and branhamist churches were not worthy. The presidents of church were not worthy ... none of those who had the name of Jesus in their mouth was worthy. Who could therefore reveal it? And John could weep again for, if one of all those people cannot who will be able to? You see? And I wept in this vision of the April 24, 1993! But one of the twenty four elders said to him: Do not weep! The lion of the tribe of Judah has overcome to take someone who is nothin ...

Today marks the 22nd observance of which was established by Pope John Paul II. This special day is an opportunity to REFLECT and RECOMMIT ourselves to praying for and serving those who are ill. It is also a day to CELEBRATE and HONOR caregivers; remembering their hard work, dedication, and sacrifice. Thank you to all who serve the sick, whether you do so in your career, your personal life or both.
Thinking today of Pope Benedict Emeritus. Several things come to mind… He brought Adoration to World Youth Day 2005. It was the first time we'd done that...To kneel with hundreds of thousands of pilgrims, it was an awesome image of the church as the Body of Christ. I will also never forget that he shared in a few words, how he too was grieving the loss of his friend, Pope John Paul II, who loved WYD so much. It was a beautiful moment. I will never ever forget in 2011 at WYD Madrid when they stopped during adoration because of lightning, despite the pleas of the security people, he would not leave us during the storm...This sherpard never left his flock. This time last year he listened to the Holy Spirit and showed us humility. True and amazing humility of spirit...We know that he spends his days praying for us. Lets pray for him!!
Today is the World Day of the Sick, which was instituted by Pope John Paul II in 1992. We remember those today who are suffering both near to us and also around the globe. A Novena for Life DAY ONE Created to Live with You Prayer Father of life, help us to long for the fullness of life and to know the wonder of what awaits us beyond the dimensions of this earthly existence. A reading from the Book of Job 19:1, 23-27a Then Job answered and said: Oh, would that my words were written down! Would that they were inscribed in a record: That with an iron chisel and with lead they were cut in the rock forever! But as for me, I know that my Vindicator lives, and that he will at last stand forth upon the dust; Whom I myself shall see: my own eyes, not another’s, shall behold him; And from my flesh I shall see God; my inmost being is consumed with longing. (silent reflection) Prayer God of all creation, grant us the wisdom to understand fully the mystery that life has no meaning apart from you. A Reflection by Pope John Paul II2 The Eucharist is a straining towards the goal, a foretaste of the fullness of joy promised by Christ (cf. Jn 15:11); it is in some way the anticipation of h ...

my comment there: ""Why oh, why... Tell me this - 'stars which still shine over the places where jewish died'..." Mr. M. Bärlocher (The author of "Grown by Matthew B.") "And the dark sceleton like shadow appeared, and did tip with his boney finger on the left shoulder of the typing person. The typing author said: 'I'm sorry Mr. Jew, but your, arr, dead since about - how long was that ago again - arr, whatever I say, dead, you're a dead ghost in my eyes. So please don't stups me!' The Jewish, sitting in the Ghetto said something across the by Galileo Galilei described expression of the force gravition, the far-distance-flight of planets, also of planet earth... 'Whatever, so I keep you in an ignoring manner.' Then came the police of the sky, arr, so called 'heaven of the christianity' (not the sky, even) the secret lounge of the black tritheists, shubsed by a member of Opus Dei, who got tickled just a small moment afterwards by Pope John Paul II., who meant something like; Ow, no, not he... If we get enough people to sign the petition to exhume her and as i suspect she has actually decayed we might be able to stop her rising from the grave as a saint , i think it's going to be a little more difficult with pope John Paul, but nobody said it was going to be a walk in the park!
"When the late Pope John Paul II decided to place the woman so strangely known as "Mother Teresa" on the fast track for beatification, and thus to qualify her for eventual sainthood, the Vatican felt obliged to solicit my testimony and I thus spent several hours in a closed hearing room with a priest a deacon and a monsignor, no doubt making their day as I told off, as from a rosary, the frightful faults and crimes of the departed fanatic. In the course of this, I discovered that the pope during his tenure had surreptitiously abolished the famous office of "Devils Advocate," in order to fast-track still more of his many candidates for canonization. I can thus claim to be the only living person to have represented the Devil pro bono." Christopher Hitchens

January 28, 2014 "You are not able to see my Son as He is in Heaven, but let me describe to you His physical appearance as He was in the world. His features were so beautiful that no one looked at His Face without feeling joy and consolation, even when depressed." The Blessed Virgin to St. Bridget of Sweden For Reflection: Could it be that this is why Pope John Paul II asked us to meditate on the Holy Face of Jesus? Practice doing so in your time of prayer today. Journal any consolation or grace that you receive. Consider the fact that Jesus took on Mary's flesh. In light of this, what does this quote reveal to us about Mary as well? Reread St. Maximilian Kolbe's quote for January 16. Journal any new inspirations or insights.
Rev. Glen Mullan A Land Overshadowed by Death January 26, 2014 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time (A) (Mt 4:12-17) When Jesus the Messiah began his public ministry, he did something unexpected. Instead of centering his ministry in Jerusalem and Judea to the south, he established his headquarters in the region of Galilee far to the north, in the ancient tribal regions of Zebulun and Napthali. This area was part of the old northern kingdom, long since conquered by the Assyrians, who scattered the ten “lost tribes” of Israel. At the time of Jesus it was a mix of pagan gentile peoples, and small colonies of Jewish settlements. Jesus began his ministry there, in fulfillment of a prophecy from Isaiah (Is 9:1-2): “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, on those dwelling in a land overshadowed by death light has arisen.” This Gospel reading is very apropos today. As in the time of Jesus, we l ...

While in Brugges, I visited a basilica that houses a vial of what is claimed to be the blood of Christ. That was very interesting to see. So, I just read that thieves recently stole a vial with the blood of Pope John Paul II. Is it a requirement that all popes, saints, and saviors give blood?
Pope John Paul II touched our hearts. He showed us joy in the face of bodily decline, a joy based on the knowledge that the decline was only a short wait on the way to infinite happiness. — from Good Pope, Bad People
Somedays, you write the headlines. Other days, the headlines write themselves. Today is the latter, as a very creepy tale of theft is emerging from a tiny church in the mountains of Italy. Evidently, a church was holding on to a bit of Pope John Paul II's blood that was spilled after an attempted as...

What about Christian contemporary song writers? Ccm Musician I would like to start a series of short articles where we look at a new song writer every week. I have noticed that this is a very touchy subject among young people. I have also noticed that a lot of people like to ignore facts or simply know very little about the song authors they are listening to and in some cases idolizing. A few things we will notice as we explore the truth about these musicians, they are as follows. 1. Radical Ecumenical Philosophy. 2. Acceptance of Rome and her heresy. 3. Association with and idolization of secular rock bands. 4. Their music is the music of the Emerging church or the new Christianity. 5.Ultimately they play a part in the back to Rome movement and the one world religion rise of the anti christ. Lets look at Michael W. Smith Michael W. Smith is one of the most prominent names in contemporary praise music. In 1982 Smith became Amy Grant’s keyboardist, but he was quickly vaulted to musical fame in his own ri ...
TODAY'S CULTURAL INTIMIDATORS There is special need of spiritual courage among believers today because of the uncommon power of a number of cultural intimidators that surround us. Political correctness can often inspire a powerful fear of ridicule, prejudice, or ostracism. It can cow a person into concealing or acting against his convictions. It can exercise its influence over a wide spectrum of daily life , from parish liturgy committees to state legislatures, from television network news to scriptural translations. The power of fashion , "O tempora, o mores!" , and the fear of not conforming, reduce personal freedom of choice and dictate not only externals like clothing and music, but also intellectual and spiritual values like truth and conscience. "It is not the world's applause," said Pope John Paul this past June in Germany, "but the faithful confession of Jesus Christ that is the sign of an authentic disciple of Christ." Sexual permissiveness is another powerful intimidator. Since the so-called sex ...

Wednesday, January 08, 2014 St. Angela of Foligno (1248-1309) Size: A A Some saints show marks of holiness very early. Not Angela! Born of a leading family in Foligno, Italy, she became immersed in the quest for wealth and social position. As a wife and mother, she continued this life of distraction. Around the age of 40 she recognized the emptiness of her life and sought God’s help in the Sacrament of Penance. Her Franciscan confessor helped Angela to seek God’s pardon for her previous life and to dedicate herself to prayer and the works of charity. Shortly after her conversion, her husband and children died. Selling most of her possessions, she entered the Secular Franciscan Order. She was alternately absorbed by meditating on the crucified Christ and by serving the poor of Foligno as a nurse and beggar for their needs. Other women joined her in a religious community. At her confessor’s advice, Angela wrote her Book of Visions and Instructions. In it she recalls some of the temptations she suffere ...

"Sexuality, by means of which man and woman give themselves to one another through the acts which are proper and exclusive to spouses . . . is realized in a truly human way only if it is an integral part of the love by which a man and woman commit themselves totally to one another until death . . .That total physical self-giving would be a lie if it were not the sign and fruit of a total personal self-giving." - Familiaris Consortio, Pope John Paul II, 11

1-7-13 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36 NIV). A milestone event has taken place in my family; my five year old son Kyle asked if he could watch Star Wars. The inner geek in me shed tears and immediately ordered it from Netflix. There is just something about Star Wars that every boy has to go through. I chose to begin with Episode One instead of the original Star Wars simply because I knew that, as a five year old, he would enjoy it more and it would keep him interested in the entirety of the series. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that young Anakin Skywalker would one day become the infamous Darth Vader. I am curious as to how watching Star Wars in this order will affect his perception of Darth Vader compared to what mine was. For those of us born before the 90’s, we first met Darth Vader as the evil villain that he is and felt little emotional connection with him. It wasn’t until we met Anakin in Episode One that we first felt a connection with him as ...
Feeling pretty nostalgic, today… Does anyone remember that Maratona di Roma date was shifted from the traditional March schedule to January 1st in 2000? Celebrating the beginning of the new millennium, the event was titled IAAF Rome Millennium Marathon and started from Saint Peter's Square. Pope John Paul II gave his benediction to the runners and the Bells of Saint Peter's replaced the starter's pistol.

I found a quote by Pope John Paul XXIII that I would like to share: Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do. I wish all my dear friends and family a blessed, healthy and prosperous 2014.
