After 12 dismal months, the Pittsburgh sports scene is looking pretty good at the moment. The Pens are one win away from the Eastern Conference Finals and have not played consistently well. There is some upside still left for them. The Pirates are 29-18, 28-13 since their 1-5 start. Pitt is moving to the ACC, which should generate some additional interest.

Been listening to a lot of Pittsburgh sports radio as usual and way to many people talking about Fluery. Vokoun has been the better goalie all year no dispute better record better GAA & way better save %. Fluery had his chance if Vokoun starts to struggle you put MAF in its really not very complicated

A Kristin Granche moment: Yesterday Kristin & Joey were at the Pittsburgh Zoo. When they went in to see the deer, one deer kept licking Kristin's face and ear. Kristin noticed that one of her Penguin's earrings was gone. She forced the deer's mouth open, and there was the earring! Thankfully, the deer allowed her to do that and she got it out before it got into the deer's intestines. Kristin is probably one of a few people who can say she pried a deer's mouth open!

It's a Hockey Night In Pittsburgh!!! Pens lead the Sens 2 games to 1 going into Ottawa tonight. My prediction: Crosby comes out early on and scares the Sens goaltender so bad he forgets about the rest of the Penguin team. Neal breaks out of his mini-slump and gets a goal. Malkin, upset with the way he gave up the tying goal on Sunday, does his best impersonation of Jack Lambert against the Cowboys in the Super Bowl and picks up a goal in the process. Jokinen does his best impersonation of Tyler Kennedy against the Islanders and comes back and gets the game winner. And just for the heck of it, Tyler Kennedy picks up another goal (assuming he isn't sitting out because Jokinen is back. And if he is, then Sid picks up the goal.). Another worthy performance from goalie Vokoun. Pens win 4-2. Duane is left with nothing but cold pizza for lunch tomorrow.

However, through four games the series is even at two games apiece, and Penguins Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has looked terrible leading many to wonder if there should be a chance in goal before Game 5 in Pittsburgh. The Islanders evened the series with a 6-4 win on Tuesday Night, scoring the last three goals of the third period. The goal that put the game away was indicative of how the night went for the Penguins goalie as Casey Cizikas just tossed the puck toward the net and it went in off Fleury's arm. With the win the Penguins improved to 16-8-0, while the Flyers continued to flounder in last place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 11-13-1, as they have won of the worst defenses in the NHL, allowing 3.0 goals per game.
