What did I want to watch this evening of Snowcopalypse 2014? Twister. Of course. Helen Hunt sure knew how to rock a wife beater tshirt and Bill Paxton had an irritating grin and Jamie Gertz wore a white linen pantsuit during a series of downdrafts and microbursts and talked on a cell phone the size of a hair dryer. There were cows. And it was the first time I remember meeting Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Thank you, Dusty. See you in the suck zone.
Watched "Twister" tonight with Syd, and a few things proved to be true: Bill Paxton is terrible, Helen Hunt was only "sexy" for that one summer, its crazy ti watch Phillip Seymour Hoffman and think he EVER won an Academy Award, the movie is fun but horrendous, and the song "Humans Being" from Van Halen kicked a$$!
Did you know/remember that Phillip Seymour Hoffman is in the 1996 action/adventure movie, Twister, starring Helen Hunt and "It's Over Man" Bill Paxton? I hadn't, but there he is. He's adorable in this role. Before Hoffman went on to play such dark and serious roles as Truman Capote and a sketchy priest in Doubt, he was a long haired goofball stormchaser geek who is the comic relief of the Michael Crichton-scripted movie. And do you remember how scary Twister is? I mean, there's not much scarier in this world than a real life tornado. The film got Oscar nominations for both visual and sound special effects, and they were doing this all old-school.
OK, I know most of you don’t really care about the Oscars, but a few of you do. I want to make a few predictions, and I’m interested in your perspective.   Best Picture: Lincoln (Sorry, Austin) The Academy loves this studio (going so far as giving one of their documentaries best original song.) Its phenomenally acted with a big name director. Dark Horse: Silver Linings Playbook. Awesome movie, well acted, well directed. A lot of support from critics.   Best Adapted Screenplay: Lincoln How would they win Best Picture and not win this? Though I almost hedged my bets by predicting Silver Linings Playbook here instead.   Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway (Les Mis) Les Mis is blatant Oscarbation, and Hathaway had the Oscarbation role. Frankly, I didn’t think Helen Hunt was that great, and the rest of the field is relatively mediocre.   Best supporting actor: Phillip Seymour Hoffman Not so much that he’s better than Tommy Lee Jone’s role in Lincoln, but he’s Phillip Seymour Hoffman in an ar ...

“Please tell me Bill Paxton Helen Hunt are part of the team?! :-) Phillip Seymour Hoffman too!
Assuming you are played by Helen Hunt and Mr. Sage by Bill Paxton or maybe Phillip Seymour Hoffman? "ITS HEADED RIGHT FOR US!"
Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton take on nature itself and rekindle their lost love. Phillip Seymour Hoffman acts like a weirdo.
Remember that one time Phillip Seymour Hoffman played a supporting role to Helen Hunt?
I'm down for Twister 2, but only two can be Bill Paxton & Helen Hunt. *Sigh* I'll be Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
