Quietly listening to Peter Sarstedt on the train as I watch a smackhead get arrested. What a lovely Sunday this is.
Wes Anderson can make you love a song that you otherwise wouldn't have. I've just seen Bottle Rocket, so now I have seen all his films, and somehow, by placing a certain song in a certain film, perfectly and seemingly without effort, he can win you over completely to his own taste in music. He's the reason I love Peter Sarstedt, the reason I rediscovered the Kinks, and he even made me love a song by the Proclaimers, which I never expected. I'd already heard some excellent Yeh-Yeh pop by the time I saw Moonrise Kingdom, otherwise I would have him to thank for that discovery.
