I really think Elgin Baylor is one of, if not, the most disrespected legend in NBA history. The guy was 6'5 and averaged 27-13 for his career. Everyone talks about MJ and Dr.J's respective aerial assaults, but Elgin Baylor was the original high-flyer. Elgin still holds an NBA Finals record for most points in a game (61), multiple all-star appearances and All-NBA teams. Elgin Baylor was a top-10 talent in NBA history imo, and the only thing that somewhat holds him back is the lack of a ring. He retired 9 games into his last season due to injuries, and that Lakers team went on to have a 33-game winning streak, and won an NBA title. If Eddy Curry got a ring last year and barely did anything, I don't see the issue with giving Elgin credit for a ring. That's just me though.

On an afternoon commemorating perhaps the most memorable game in Pete Maravich Assembly Center history, Johnny Jones' new crop of Tigers did their best to usurp it.

Did we have a treat today. My son called and said he had 2 tickets to the LSU basketball game so we decided to go. On the way I looked at them and found they were playing Alabama, all right! On the way in, I found myself next to literally the tallest man I have ever seen! He was a member of one of the past basketball teams honored at half time. He had to be close to 7 ft. tall. LSU beat Alabama in triple overtime 97-94, great game especially since it was against Alabama. It was the first triple overtime in the history of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, PMAC for short. I really got a kick out of the signs that were on the stall doors in the ladies room at the PMAC. It reads "sometimes trying not to touch the toilet seat is a sport too". LOVE IT!

People will hate me for this but I think Michael Jordan is way overrated. 1st he hit the nba when there was very little competition. A lull in top talent teams. 2nd after winning the 3 titles and retiring the bulls only won 2 less games the next season and still went to the conference championship. You might argue well they won 72 when he came back.. yes but that is also the year they picked up Dennis Rodman. 3rd he was Nike's first golden boy so he was over advertised to build up an exaggerated persona of greatness to make nike money (think Rocky movies only not fixed) if anything scottie pippen should be hailed as the best player ever. While watching Miami blow out Duke tonight, I was glad they showed Rick Barry's retired jersey hanging in the rafters. Barry scored the most points at a game I attended when he hit for 52 with the New York Nets against the Carolina Cougars. Barry always shot his free throws underhanded and had a 90 lifetime percentage. wonder why no one else learned how to shoot like that.
