PLAY LIKE Real Madrid In soccer it appears that whatgoes around comes around. The domination of the well-drilled tiki taka possession teams has been so expertly picked apart in recent times that counterattacking football has made a major comeback. Possession, we now know, isn’t everything.Jose Mourinho gave a master class with Inter Milan back in 2010, taking apart Louis van Gaal’s Bayern Munich side, but nowhere has the countering technique been better executed than at Real Madrid in the past few months.First there was the resoundingwin over Barcelona in the final of the Copa Del Rey, with a galloping Balegoal that has seen him nicknamed the Road Runner. Then there was the 4-0 demolition of Bayern, the heaviest defeat their coach, Pep Guardiola, has ever endured in European football. It seems Real’s quest for a 10th European Cup trophy, La Decima, is within their grasp.would make them even more vulnerable. With the pace of Ronaldo, Di Maria andBale, Real possess a counterattacking mechanism that tr ...
Transfer update on David Luiz: His preference is Barcelona whom he has agreed personal terms with and the offer satisfies Chelsea financially and has been accepted. However Bayern Munich is acting on Pep Guardiola's long standing interest in Luiz by offering cash+ Mario Mandzukic. An offer Chelsea also accepts based on Jose Mourinho's considerations for the technical needs of playing staff.PSG however is massively interested and have also made a bid.Barcelona responded to the rival bids by offering Alex Song+cash to entice Chelsea further.Mourinho has been trying to get Song while at Inter Milan so he may consider this deal.PSG may use Chelsea's longtime admiration for Lavezzi to boost their chances in the race.Ultimately the key thing is David Luiz will be allowed to choose his destination with Chelsea benefitting no matter the outcome
I dont think it is proper for Samuel Eto to call Jose Mourinho, his coach previously at Inter Milan and recently in Chelsea FC, a fool. When he was rejected at Barcelona FC for bad behaviour in the dressing room by Pep Guardiola upon all he achieved on the field of play as a player it was Jose who took him to Italy, mentored and coach him. Inshort, Jose Mourinho rehabilitated him. If Jose Mourinho had sarcastically labelled him an old man in a private discussion with a friend, all that Eto should have done as an African who respect elders was to either approach him to express his annoyance in the most appropriate way and then go on to proof him wrong on the football field and not to call Jose a fool. To insult or called an elder a fool is a taboo. Thumb down to you Samuel Eto.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, insisting that the Sweden international was a dream to coach at Inter Milan. Ibrahimovic famously fell out with Pep Guardiola, who has had plenty of run-ins with Mourinho, during his ill-fated spell with Barcelona in 2009/10. However, the Blues boss has described working with the world-class striker as "easy" rather than a chore. When asked by Yahoo what it was like to coach Ibrahimovic, Mourinho responded: “Easy, easy. I don’t understand when people say he is a difficult guy to work with or a difficult personality. “A difficult personality [is] when you have to work with people who don’t want to win or don’t want to improve. When you have somebody that is a winner and wants to win all the time and wants to be the best and is not afraid of the big responsibilities, I think he is very, very easy. “I only coached him for a year but it was a good year, a good experience and I rate him as one of the ...

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Gives Explosive Views on Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola Zlatan Ibrahimovic has delivered a no-holds-barred insight into Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola, claiming he “lacks balls” and cannot hold a candle to former Inter Milan and current Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho. The enigmatic Ibrahimovic, now of PSG, has played under both coaches during his stellar career but, in his new book “I am Zlatan Ibrahimovic”, reveals he could not think less of Guardiola compared to Mourinho. In an extract provided by the Daily Mail Ibrahimovic writes: "He (Mourinho) is the exact opposite of Pep Guardiola. If Mourinho lights up a room, Guardiola draws the curtains. Mourinho would become a guy I was basically willing to die for." The Sweden international spent one season under Mourinho at Inter, scoring 29 goals, before making a €66 million switch to Barcelona. However, his debut spell at the Camp Nou ended in disappointment as Mourinho’s side came back to haunt Barca, beating them in the 2 ...

Very intelligent and a great motivator. Guardiola’s philosophical team talks on the other hand – they are bull***t for the advanced.‘Guardiola is a fantastic coach. But as a human? He is a cowa ...
To many Chelsea fans, Jose Mourinho is a God who has taken the form of a mortal; to the rest of us, he is simply a well-dressed, slightly annoying and possibly even overrated manager. He surpassed all expectations at FC Porto, and during his first spell at Chelsea, before impressing with Inter Milan by joining the elite group of managers to have won the Champions League with two different clubs. Although he tasted success with Real Madrid, he only won La Liga once in three years, and failed to deliver the coveted tenth Champions League title that the Spanish club so desperately crave. Many will look on his time at the club back with indifference. Now, just a few weeks into his second tenure as Chelsea manager, things aren’t exactly going to plan either. He lost his first competitive game against old foe Pep Guardiola, before losing to Everton and Basel within a week; certainly not the start he or Chelsea fans would have hoped for. His blatant exclusion of fans’ favourite Juan Mata has raised a few eye ...
Bayern Munich became the first German club to win the treble by beating Stuttgart 3-2 in a dramatic German Cup final. Bayern appeared to be cruising when a harsh penalty, converted by Thomas Mueller, and two Mario Gomez goals put them 3-0 ahead inside 61 minutes. Stuttgart, hammered 6-1 by the Bavarians in the Bundesliga, then gave them a real scare as Martin Harnik pulled two goals back. Bayern hung on to complete a memorable season and give departing coach Jupp Heynckes the best possible send-off as he ended his third stint in charge to make way for Former Barcelona supremo Pep Guardiola. They became the seventh team to win their league, cup and European Cup in the same season, following Inter Milan (2010), Barcelona (2009), Manchester United (1999), PSV Eindhoven (1988), Ajax Amsterdam (1972) and Celtic (1967). Just as in last week's 2-1 Champions League final win over Borussia Dortmund, Manuel Neuer prevented Bayern falling behind with some outstanding goalkeeping. Stuttgart nearly took an early lead ...

Arjen Robben has warned Arsenal that Bayern Munich are stronger than the team that lost the Champions League final on penalties last season. The German league leaders face the Gunners this week and are aiming to win the tournament before Pep Guardiola takes over next season. Bayern lost two Champions League finals in the last three years, as they also went 2-0 down to Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan in 2010 and the hurt of last season’s defeat to former club Chelsea still lingers with the German side. Robben said: ‘It’s very strange how things can change so quickly in football. ‘In the end Chelsea made it. If you look at the final again we should never have lost it — but we did. We’ve improved from last year, new good players coming in and everything is going well. ‘We showed last season that we can be up there with the best teams in Europe so we want to be in the final at Wembley.’ ‘The last eight years — no trophies. That says it all. If you look around at the moment there are some tea ...

Benitez speaks on way forward for Chelsea LONDON (AFP) – Rafael Benitez said he was focused on the job in hand, rather than worrying about being a stop-gap appointment, after being presented to the media as Chelsea’s new interim manager on Thursday. The former Liverpool coach, 52, is under contract until the end of the current season and replaces Roberto Di Matteo, who was sacked on Wednesday after Chelsea lost 3-0 at Juventus in the Champions League. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, who has fired seven managers during his nine-year tenure, has reportedly made repeated overtures to Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola, but Benitez said the speculation would not distract him. “I have a very good relationship with Guardiola. He’s a great manager,” said Benitez, who had been out of work since leaving Inter Milan in December 2010. “What will happen in the future, you never know. We have a massive game at the weekend (against Manchester City) and five trophies to fight for. “When you analyse why y ...
As declared on the Chelsea official website on Wednesday, Rafael Benitez has been appointed as the replacement for sacked manager Roberto Di Matteo. As quickly as Roberto was fired, Rafa was brought in—and in less than 12 hours—Chelsea had a new interim manager. Interim—the first clue that Benitez hasn’t been brought in by Roman Abramovic for the long term. Abramovic made it clear that he was happy to wait for Pep Guardiola to finish his 12-month sabbatical before trying to convince him to come to Stamford Bridge. In fact it was even suggested that Di Matteo was only on a one year contract as Roman waited it out for the ex-Barca boss (Mirror Football). What is there to suggest that Benitez hasn’t been offered that exact same opportunity? Rafael has the attitude and personality to believe he can change things at the Bridge, and rightly so. He has had many high profile jobs, such as Valencia, Liverpool and Inter Milan, and has won a Champions League, two La Ligas and an FA Cup during his time ...
LONDON -- Six months after guiding Chelsea to an unlikely Champions League title, Roberto Di Matteo was fired Wednesday with the team on the brink of becoming the first defending champion eliminated from the group stage. Di Matteo, who was hired on a permanent basis in June, was dismissed a day after a 3-0 loss to Juventus in Turin left Chelsea's title defense in tatters. Chelsea also is struggling in the Premier League, having picked up just two points from its last four games to fall to third place. "The team's recent performances and results have not been good enough and the owner and the board felt that a change was necessary now to keep the club moving in the right direction as we head into a vitally important part of the season," Chelsea said in a statement. There was no immediate announcement on a replacement for Di Matteo, but former Liverpool and Inter Milan coach Rafa Benitez has been heavily linked with the job. Pep Guardiola, currently on a break from coaching after leavingBarcelona at the end ...
Carlo Mazzone remains very good friends with Pep Guardiola and believes “if he comes to Italy it’ll only be for Milan or Inter.”
5. Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Another first-rate traitor, he has never been known for his loyalty. After Juventus, when he was a part of the Calciopoli scandal and got relegated to Serie B, he moved to rival club Inter Milan, where he had a good first season, helping the Serie A side win the Serie A. He then moved to Barcelona, where he didn’t have a great time due to problems between him and then-manager Pep Guardiola. In July 2010 his relationship with Guardiola completely deteriorated, and he was loaned out to AC Milan, which became a permanent deal later, thus seeing him play for a rival club again. After two excellent seasons there, he moved to the cash-rich PSG, and may move to another club again. After all, who knows? Read more:
Ex-Barcelona coach Guardiola ready to return - at AC Milan Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola is ready to resume his career in Milan. Sportmediaset says Guardiola made the revelation to close friend Carletto Mazzone, his former Brescia coach. "He's ready to return to coach and wants to go to Milan," Mazzone told Sussidiario.net. "Soon we'll see him. As a tourist or a coach? Both." While Andrea Stramaccioni is on shaky ground at Inter Milan, it is AC Milan where Guardiola is expected to arrive as a replacement for Massimiliano Allegro. There's already talk of his assistant coach being sounded out - Roberto Baggio is the big rumour. My take Though I expect Guardiola to deny this story, this looks more like it...
Leo Messi is now the second highest paid footballer in the world, just one place behind his Former Barcelona team-mate Samuel Eto'o. Messi does not just help Barcelona win titles, he also helps the club line its pockets every time he wows crowds and television audiences with his magical left foot. Messi has a clause in his contract which sees him earn an extra amount of money every time he wins a trophy. 'La Pulga' won 14 trophies under Pep Guardiola, which saw his his income rocket to around 18 million euros per season. Sources consulted by AS confirmed the figure and revealed that when Messi is offered his new contract, which will be the sixth time he has renewed his deal with the club since 2005, he will be offered even bigger bonuses. Therefore, it will be up to Messi to see if he can overtake the amount which Anzhi offered Samuel Eto'o to swap Inter Milan for the south of Russia and, at 25 years old, become the footballer with the highest salary in the world (not including income from endorsements an ...

Liverpool will have to act fast in a battle with Galatasaray if they want to resurrect their interest in Real Madrid's 29-year-old midfielder Hamit Altintop. 6. Ex-Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola wants a face-to-face meeting with Roman Abramovich before deciding whether to take over as Chelsea manager.

Jose Mourinho rewarded for patient approach at Real Madrid. It's the seventh, but it's been the most difficult." If there was a certain inevitability about Real Madrid finally clinching La Liga at Athletic Bilbao last night, Jose Mourinho acknowledged what an enormous effort it has taken. This win is Mourinho's seventh league championship title in 10 seasons, spread across four countries. Only three coaches have pulled the four-country trick before; Ernst Happel, Giovanni Trappattoni and Tomislav Ivic (who won in five different nations). Yet one of Mourinho's most curious characteristics is his capacity for occasional disarming humility. Despite his regular success, few will need reminding how hard he has had to work for this one, in the shadow of Pep Guardiola's all-conquering Barcelona. Mourinho's assistant Aitor Karanka, the camp's spokesman in recent weeks as the boss refused to address the media, summed up the team's progress. "We managed to win the cup last year, which gave us a lot of hope and brough ...

France coach Laurent Blanc is being considered by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich as the club's permanent successor to Andre Villas-Boas. - Blog: Familiar Chelsea recreated While Roberto Di Matteo has been undertaking his own extended job interview as the Blues' interim boss, Abramovich's aides have been trying to draw up a shortlist of candidates for the managerial position, which was vacated by the sacking of Villas-Boas in March. Delivering Champions League glory to the Blues for the first time could give Di Matteo the opportunity to hold on to the post, but former Manchester United and Inter Milan defender Blanc is among those in the frame to be given the job on a long-term basis this summer. Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola and former Chelsea darling Jose Mourinho are understandably top of Abramovich's wanted list, but the Russian billionaire only has an outside chance of attracting either. A secondary list of candidates has Blanc, whose contract with France expires after Euro 2012, at its summit; Marseil ...
Barcelona’s last trip to London was last May at Wembley when they beat Manchester United 3-1 to claim their fourth European Cup. Should the reigning champions win the Champions League this season it will be their fourth triumph in seven years and they will be the first club since AC Milan in 1990 to retain the trophy. This is the fifth consecutive season that Barcelona have been in the semi-finals of the Champions League. The last team to beat them at this stage was Inter Milan in 2010. Lionel Messi (pictured right) has faced Chelsea six times in the Champions League but has never scored against the Blues. When the two clubs met in the quarter-finals in 2000, Barcelona beat Chelsea 5-1 in the second leg at Camp Nou. That game saw Roberto Di Matteo start for the Blues, whilst a certain Pep Guardiola featured for the hosts.
