I liked a video Neil Young and Pearl Jam - Rockin' In The Free World
Trying to tune to KPCC, and stumbled on basically my high school radio station: Soup Dragons, Neil Young + Pearl Jam, Wolf Alice*.
Went to a concert which showed Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Tom Jones, Nora Jones, the Beach Boys, Band of Horses, and Florence and the Machine. Florence was by far the best.
Another Bridge School benefit concert that was awesome! Neil Young, Florence and the Machine, Brian Wilson, Pearl Jam, Tom Jones, Norah Jones, etc.
Enjoying a nite with my friends Nora Jones, SoundGarden, Tom Jones, Florence & the Machine, Brian Wilson, Pearl Jam, & Neil Young.. Oh, and Jenni at the Shoreline Amphitheater supporting the Bridge School. Here is the Ultra Rare and pinnacle moment of the nite; Pearl Jam & Chris Cornell jamming Hunger Strike together.
Healing night of music! Thank you Florence and the Machine, Pearl Jam, Neil Young, Brian Wilson, Band of Horses, Soundgarden and Tom Jones!
Bridge School was incredible this year aside from the obvious awkwardness of Neil Young & his wife splitting up. Florence & the Machine was straight to the soul! Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Band of Horses, Nora Jones. Even Tom Jones was entertaining . Brian Wilson was great in his day, but that was my low point of the night. Best Bridge in a few years!
Wound up at bridge school benefit and saw Florence, Pearl Jam, and Neil Young 👌😌
Pearl Jam amazed the sold out crowd Saturday night at Neil Young's 28th annual Bridge School benefit.…
In from the concert. ..Neil Young...Soundgarden...Nora Jones.Tom Jones.Brian Wilson.Pearl Jam...Band of Horses. .Florence and the Machine. ..rocking great acoustics in an outdoor venue from 5 to 1 am...NO RAIN.
. They were fine untill Neil Young got his hippy stink on Pearl Jam!
I've been challenged to list the 10 most influential albums in my life by Carolina Chacon. My take is to look at the ones I've probably listened to most and that represent why I started liking certain kinds of music. Most of these go back to when I first received a cd player for Christmas and hooked up a record player and started playing some of my mom and dad's vinyl. These are the top 10 in no particular order. (oh, and I cheated by including more than 1 album for a few select artists) 1. Pink Floyd – (The Wall, Division Bell, Dark Side of the Moon) 2. The Beatles – (Rubber Soul, Revolver, Abbey Road, Sgt Peppers and The White Album) 3. Neil Young – Harvest 4. Nirvana – (Unplugged in New York, Nevermind) 5. Metallica – Black 6. Pearl Jam – Ten 7. Dr Dre – The Chronic (the original Nine Deuce) 8. Simon & Garfunkel - Collected Works 9. Frank Sinatra – Nothing but the Best 10. Red Hot Chile Peppers – Blood Sugar Sex Magik
I was reading this thing on the internet... i had traced Perfect Circles song Passive. found the lyric. devastating. ok so then there is a utube of the singer and Tori Amos. so then i follow a thread to a 2010 tori fans blog who mention me - that said i said that Tori sounded like Kate Bush, until she found her voice, and that offended Tori fans, who still liked my work even though that 'was a 'very Joni' thing of me' to say how Tori sounded like me. I laughed. One said I am so good and so unknown. I thought, heck she's right. I Am unknown, now, virtually. Understand, those two Rolling Stone covers - yes two in two years did not matter one bit ten years later. so all we have is the progeny, who honor us by talking about our work. Pearl Jam bringing on Neil Young... that was righteous. do you remember that uh Goddess thing, the Canadian? I was not offered, and was refused a slot on that tour. They would not have me, but they invited just about every other girl singer in the business. well eve ...
Anyone out there know where I can go see bands that play covers of the following. Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bob Seger, Nirvana, pumpkins, Foo Fighters, CCR, chisel, cat, soundgarden... suppose I could keep on going :) ha ha ha

In honor my my dad's birthday... here are the albums he listed as the most life changing for him... It was supposed to be "15 records"... but he couldn't stop at 15. What I SHOULD do today, is have a record marathon like he used to when he was a teenager... but, I'm unprepared... no vinyl and nothing to play 'em on. Gotta work on that. Highway 61 Revisited/ Blonde on Blond - Bob Dylan, 1965/66 Blood on the Tracks/Desire/Street Legal - Bob Dylan, 1975/76 Astral Weeks - Van Morrison, 1968 Songs of Leonard Cohen - Leonard Cohen, 1967 Procol Harum - Procol Harum, 1967 Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme - Simon and Garfunkel, 1966 Days of Future Passed - The Moody Blues, 1967 The River - Bruce Springsteen, 1980 Tea for the Tillerman - Cat Stevens, 1970 The Best of Sam Cooke - Sam Cooke, 1962 Late for the Sky - Jackson Browne, 1974 OK Computer - Radiohead, 1997 After the Gold Rush - Neil Young, 1970 Automatic for the People - REM, 1992 Ten - Pearl Jam, 1991 Sticky Fingers - Rolling Stones, 1971 The White Al ...

Starting to get pumped up about the 2014 solo acoustic shows coming up. Going old school a bit and bringing back the SR-16 Alesis drum kit. So its not just gonna be just some James Taylor and Neil Young type shows but more like some Pearl Jam and Nirvana and STP. Im gonna blow out some fkn windows on this run.
Mr. Waters, Music is supposed to act as a bridge between people and cultures and not create a gap between them. Your attitude doesn't help to break the wall, it only makes it higher. The impression you make is that you're not really interested in bringing peace and co-existence in the Middle East and that's too bad because many of us here are… Maybe you've succeeded in convincing Pearl Jam not to come here, because you're sort of a "father figure" for them, but Neil Young is not a child and he will be here because he knows that music lovers are the same anywhere in the world.

It was broadcast on Pay-Per-View and portions of the show were released on VHS and CD, but on March 4th a Super Deluxe version of the concert will hit shelves on CD and DVD/Blu Ray. Highlights from the show include Dylan's solo acoustic rendition of "Girl From the North Country," Neil Young's frenetic "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues" with Booker T And the M.G.'s and George Harrison's beautiful take of "Absolutely Sweet Marie," which marked his final time performing in public. Ace Frehley on stage with Pearl Jam for the second time since October 1st 2005 when they did Neil Young's cover of Rockin In The Free World.
Day 6: (a day late..) Pearl Jam. Say what you want about their music or my ridiculous connection to it, but it's obvious to the casual observer that few things in my life have impacted me as deeply and permanently as this has. On the surface, yes, they are just songs.. But I am anything but superficial with music. This is the first band I identified with: The first sounds that commanded every sensory responses' attention and drove me to research every facet within.. I have traveled places and met the most amazing people on the planet through these "songs".. Scott, Calvin, Josh.. Moments I would have surely not experienced otherwise.. I attended my first Bridge School Benefit concert in 1999 because PJ was playing and walked away with the single most beautiful experience of my life.. And it had nothing even to do with the music.. I met a little girl named Sofie night 2 and right then and there I knew I'd found my future daughter's name.. I was exposed, for the first memorable time to people, students, with ...
Kay, bright side, bright side... I picked up two new albums at HMV before I left. Originally I was going to grab a couple of AiC albums since I don't have many of theirs, but then I decided that I'd like to hear some new stuff, so based on some of the stuff I've heard this year, I picked up Neil Young: Live at Massey Hall (1971) and Radiohead's "OK Computer". I'm looking forward to those whenever I have the chance to listen to them.I may head up there again next pay and also grab some Velvet Underground and either AIC's Facelift or Dirt, or possibly Pearl Jam's new album.

People:I survived Farm Aid!4 angels came and rescued me from the terrible rain and the coldness of weather. The most unforgettable moment? It's hard to decide.Willie Nelson and his son Lukas Nelson sang my all-time-favorite Pearl Jam's"just breathe"?or the great Pete Seeger surprised fans and sang "This Land is Your Land"? Or Neil Young forgot his lyrics but continued speaking more to advocate people of food safety, climate change and The evilness of Monsanto?

I added a video to a playlist Pearl Jam & Neil Young - Walk with Me
Monday was Canada Day so today’s list I thought I’d dedicate to 10 of my favourite Canadian bands. Sadly Canadian music is dominated by some appalling artists such as Nickelback, Justin Bieber, Bryan Adams and Avril Lavigne but dig a little deeper and you’ll find some amazing indie and punk bands. Here are 10 of my favourite artists from Canada: 1. Alexisonfire – Hardcore band, one of my all-time favourites. I was lucky enough to catch them on their Farewell Tour last year. It’s gone down as one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to. Must hear album – Crisis 2. Neil Young – A classic rocker that keeps on rocking. 35 solo studio albums plus 3 albums with CSN&Y and 3 albums with Buffalo Springfield, he’s been a busy man. Neil is known as the Godfather of Grunge due to his significant influence on bands such as Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Sonic Youth, he’s a living legend. Must hear album – Harvest 3. Japandroids – Bro rock at its finest, the kind of music you want to experience up loud with ...

I am so proud of my husband and his band. I just love them so much. Only 9 bands were choosen to play at the Hard Rock Cafe's Battle of The Bands. The winning band from Denver will compete nationally to win a spot on stage and perform live in London at Hard Rock Rising this summer as well as a tour of Hard Rock's around the globe! Past acts performing at Hard Rock Rising have included Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Paul Mccartney, Stevie Wonder, The Who, Pearl Jam, Peter Gabriel, Bruce Springsteen, The Killers and The Police. Come on out and support Vivid Fiction!
An excellent question posed by Cassie at dinner: 'If you could see any musician alive today for a private concert, who would it be". I'm struggling between: Neil Young, Ryan Adams and Pearl Jam (the high schooler in me). She's going with David Bowie. Who would you see?
Joe Fry is back from 6-9pm tonight. His acoustic performance features a mix of old rock and new rock from the likes of Ray Lamontagne, Pearl Jam, Snow Patrol, Neil Young, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and more. Looking forward to another great evening!
Neil Young:...Godfather of Grunge,,,salute jamz with Grunge,,greatests ...Pearl Jam,,Kurt Cobain,, The Boss and more.. here’s an ache and an angst in Young’s voice that resonates, and his guitar playing feels bare, matter of fact, and honest. Neil Young is often referred to as “The Godfather of Grunge” for the impact and influence he had on the grunge scene– Eddie Vedder and Kurt Cobain in particular. Cobain even went as far to quote Neil Young in his suicide note– using the line “It’s better to burn out, than to fade away” from Young’s song “My My, Hey Hey (Out of the Blue)”.

As the show ended, Johnny Rotten asked the audience, “Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?” and walked out on the band. 1995 - Pearl Jam took the stage with Neil Young in Washington DC for a Voters for Choice benefit. 2004 - Jack White of The White Stripes pled not guilty to assaulting Von Bondies singer Jason Stollsteimer. White maintained that he was acting in self-defense.
As posted back on Dec. 22 a friend of mine and I charged each other with the task of compiling your personal list of your top 100 rock n roll tunes all time. Again, this list is personal, not sales based, not necessarily popularity based (although some are). There are so many reasons why some songs are on and others are not it's impossible to explain but here is the list that has taken ages to put together. I'd love to know yours. And now we move on to the next challenge: The Top 50 Albums All Time. Top 100 songs 100 Maggie's Farm - Bob Dylan 99 I Can't Quit You Baby - Willie Dixon 98 Mary Jane's Last Dance - Tom Petty 97 Asylum - Supertramp 96 Rusty Cage - Soundgarden 95 Stone Cold Crazy - Queen 94 Middle Of The Road - The Pretenders 93 Time - Pink Floyd 92 Here Comes The Flood - Peter Gabriel 91 Alive - Pearl Jam 90 Shattered - The Rolling Stones 89 Cinnamon Girl - Neil Young 88 Subterranean Homesick Alien - Radiohead 87 Lip Service - Max Webster 86 And She Was - Talking Heads 85 Hangin' Round - Lou Ree ...

Last night was a great time with Jenny Brooks -- took in a tribute band concert n Hermosa Beach at Saint Rocke. Saw Nearvana, The Neil Deal, and Vitology, impersonating Nirvana, Neil Young, and Pearl Jam, respectively. Place was packed, and the band's all rocked. It was nice to see Denny Gerard again (you still rock really hard, and are even better!) and it was awesome to be standing right against the stage where all the die-hards were. Vitology were amazing. The lead singer, Aaron, sounds JUST like Eddie Vedder. And for a treat they covered Pink Floyd's "Mother" and The Who's "Baba O'Reilly," which were both too cool. Best songs of the night: "Southern Man" and "Once."
Listening to an old mix tape I made for a girl named Emily back in 2009. By the sounds of it I Made it on a Sunday afternoon when I was way too desperate and swoony. Starts off with Frusciante then kicks into "Maps" by YYY's which flows onto "The Greatest" by Cat Power and then "Elephants" by Them Crooked Vultures slams in. Pearl Jam launch in straight after leading into Fugazi. "Weird Fishes" by Radiohead shuffles by ploughing head first into "La Ciegna Just Smiled" by Ryan Adams. The middle section of yearn is resolved with the addition of Iggy and The Stooges, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin and Hendrix. "Come As You Are" by Nirvana launches the last leg followed by "Sunday" by Sonic Youth and ending with "Good Fortune" by PJ Harvey. I clearly had a serious crush designed by some kind of unrequited and silent love affair. Fear obviously stopped me giving the mix to Emily and instead it stayed in the bottom drawer of my desk with all the other unheard "crush" mixtapes. A real lesso ...

Have a little taste of the real deal ... as one of the commenters said, "Neil Young is a force of nature."
So what band will be doing everything from Original material to Elvis covers, Ryan Adams to Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones to Mott the Hoople, Urge Overkill to Black Crowes, Freedy Johnson to ZZ Top tunes ?? Yes, you guessed it OneTom Short will be on the loose tomorrow at a block party in Teaneck NJ. Then some different strokes tomorrow evening as we kick off an acoustic Lion's Den with some Van Morrison, Pearl Jam, Neil Young, Galaxy 500, Elvis and Queen tunes for the nightcap. We're nothing if not eclectic, the only common thread is good music played with enjoyment in mind. Ours and our audience. Hope to see you at the Den, sorry the block party is kinda closed to the people who live on the block !
So I'll be seeing Pearl Jam, Brice Springsteen, and Neil Young all live in concert next month. Should be epic!!!
