The show ran its course after a few seasons, but thanks to Raiders manager Roger Hart‘s idea about a vehicle for lead singer Mark Lindsay and bandleader Paul Revere – one that, as he put it, took a look at what was happening on the pop scene – the duo scored their own variety show. A pair of shows,…

Paul Revere, founder of the Raiders, is 76 years old today. Paul Revere & the Raiders saw considerable U.S. mainstream success in the second half of the 1960s and early 1970s with hits such as "Kicks" (1966; ranked number 400 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time), "Hungry" (1966), "Him Or Me - What's It Gonna Be?" (1967) and the 1971 No. 1 single "Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian)." The Raiders began as an instrumental rock band led by organist Paul Revere. In his early 20s, Revere owned several restaurants in Caldwell, Idaho and first met singer Mark Lindsay while picking up hamburger buns from the bakery where Lindsay worked (this circumstance was later referred to in the tongue-in-cheek song "Legend of Paul Revere"). Lindsay joined Revere's band in 1958. Originally called The Downbeats, they changed their name to Paul Revere & The Raiders in 1960 on the eve of their first record release for Gardena Records. The band scored their first P ...

Mine...Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere and the Raiders. Years later...I actually interviewed him on the 12 News noon show! Funny story there I might share someday.

Took away our ways of life, the tomahawk,... ♫ Indian Reservation [feat. Mark Lindsay] by Paul Revere & The Raiders —
Hmm. Listening to the words of the oldie 'Indian Reservation' by the Raiders, sans Paul Revere and I assume, Mark Lindsay. Song is about the Cherokee Nation, I'm wanting to think 'The Trail of Tears' forced upon the Cherokee's by the federal government. My paternal twice great grandparents perished during that particular blemish in our history, orphaned my great grandmother at, I believe, age five. Which brings to mind how government is getting it's tentacles more and more into our daily lives... Study the American Indian, then tell me how "good" our lives will be with more and more control set upon us by our government.
Mark Lindsay, former lead singer / songwriter / producer and co founder of the seminal 60′s Garage Rock band Paul Revere & the Raiders has released “Like Nothing That You’ve Seen,” the first single from his upcoming.
Beatle Bob's Greatest Rock & Roll Events That Shook The World: Paul Revere & the Raiders at the Lake Oswego Armory (1964) While trying to achieve nationwide success, Northwest kingpins of the teen-scene, - Paul Revere & the Raiders - thought they right on the cusp of success when signed a record contract with Columbia Records in 1964. However, several early 45's they released on the record company giant failed to even dent the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Dismayed, the Portland, Oregon based quintet soldiered on performing to packed houses at various teen clubs, banquet halls, gymnasiums, skating rinks, armories, and VFW halls throughout the Northwest. The Raiders stage attire in 1964 had consisted of wearing collarless blazers with flamenco boots which later became, because The Beatles used them, Beatle boots, but they were actually Spanish dancing boots. This was not unlike what any number of groups wore back then. Then one day Paul Revere and lead singer Mark Lindsay were walking in downtown Portland one ...

"I don't want it all/Honey, I just want a Little Bit ..." On the occasion of Jerry Lee Lewis' 77th birthday, here's one of my all-time favorite "Killer Cuts" -- the Ferriday Fireball's propulsive, high-octane cover of Roscoe Gordon's sly, suggestive rhythm-and-blues standard "Just a Little Bit." Produced by Huey Meaux, this inspired rock 'n' roll recording -- featured on Jerry Lee's electrifying Mercury Records album SOUTHERN ROOTS: BACK HOME TO MEMPHIS (1973) -- united the Killer with an all-star studio lineup made up of the MGs (Steve Cropper, Donald "Duck" Dunn and Al Jackson Jr.), Tony Joe White, Mark Lindsay (of Paul Revere and the Raiders), Jerry Lee's longtime band leader Kenny Lovelace, James Hooker of the Amazing Rhythm Aces, the Memphis Horns and the Sugar Sweets, plus the Killer's old friend and former Sun Records label mate, Carl Perkins. Happy Birthday to the Last Man Standing -- Live Forever, Killer!
Paul Revere & Raiders ...especially in love with lead singer, Mark Lindsay
I forgot to relate what else we did today. We had to take four different lines on the subway to go from the World Trade Center station on the silver line to the Aquarium station on the blue line. After getting our tickets for the whale watch, we walked to the Ols State House and viewed the exhibits and listened to two presentations. The first was the history of the building. The second was an explanation of the Boston Massacre. We then walked on the Freedom Trail to Paul Revere's house; he was not at home, but I did see him in 1970 in concert; Mark Lindsay was cuter. We toured the house and then walked to the Old North Church and the Paul Revere statue.

"Him Or Me" by Paul Revere and the Raiders --recorded ca. last week June 1967 --released on Spirit of 67 LP -- the last song and LP produced by Doris Day's son the late great Terry Melcher, who had produced; co-wrote along with Mark Lindsay, and sang backup on all of the Raiders Top Ten Hits from 1965 through 1967. Great stuff from yet another of America's best, but least heralded, garage bands. Mark Lindsay lead vocals; Mike Smith drums; Freddie Weller lead guitar; Phil Volk on bass, and Paul Revere piano and keyboards; In mid-1967, with three gold albums to their credit, The Raiders were Columbia's top-selling rock band. This Great Lost 45 features one of the best samples of Revere's piano playing -- in almost all of the other Raider songs, he plays a Vox organ instead.

Friday, July 25, 2008 Mark Lindsay, Where Is He Now? I stumbled across the website for Paul Revere and The Raiders the other day and discovered that Mark Lindsay and about all the original members are no longer with the Raiders. So what happened to Mark Lindsay, who I thought made Paul Revere and the Raiders the band they were? I guess the best place is to start at the beginning of Mark's career and then expose where he is and what he is doing now. It may surprise many of you. Mark Lindsay began performing at the age of fifteen with local bands that played local venues. He was tapped to sing in a band called Freddy Chapman and the Idaho Playboys after he won a local talent contest. After Chapman left the area, Lindsay saw the other band members and a new member, Paul Revere, playing at a local I.O.O.F. (International Order of Odd Fellows) Hall. He persuaded the current band to allow him to sing a few songs with them. The next day he was working at his regular job at a bakery when Paul Revere came in to bu ...

This is a wonderful 6:45 interview that *** Clark conducts with Raiders' lead singer heartthrob - Mark Lindsay for a segment on Where The Action Is. Before the interview takes place, you hear Clark talking in the background about the winner of a Paul Revere & the Raiders contest in which the winner gets three-inches of hair from lead singer Mark Lindsay's ponytail! To win you had to send in a letter stating why you would want to win Mark Lindsay's locks. Judges would pick the winning letter based on they thought was the most creative entry. The winner was a girl named Judy from Michigan City, Indiana who said she would trade her 3-foot pet Green Iguana lizard for Mark's hair. While Clark is narrating the winner's name and the contents of her letter, those wild & wacky Raiders can be seen cutting the three-inches of hair off Mark Lindsay's ponytail while he sits in a chair on a boat-dock on a Marina bay. The deposed hair is then put into an envelope to be mailed to Judy. This short segment is followed by ...
