Paul Hornung & Roger Staubach

Paul Vernon Hornung (born December 23, 1935) is a retired Hall of Fame professional football player who played for the Green Bay Packers from 1957-66. He, O.J Simpson, Earl Campbell are the only people to have won the Heisman Trophy, been selected as first overall National Football League draft picks, and been inducted into both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and College Football Hall of Fame. Roger Thomas Staubach (born February 5, 1942 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is a businessman, Heisman Trophy winner and legendary Hall of Fame former quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys from 1969 until 1979. ***DID YOU KNOW*** Of all the Heisman Trophy winners in the history of the award(78 years).only EIGHT have went on to have Hall of Fame careers (Barry Sanders, Marcus Allen, Tony Dorsett, Doak Walker, Paul Hornung, Roger Staubach, O. J. Simpson, Earl Campbell). Six runningbacks and two QBs. When he retires, Charles Woodson will be the only defensive player ever to win the Heisman and go to the HOF.
For you football fans the NFL has lost one of the caretakers of the game. Steve Sabol of NFL films passed away. Who can forget the famous line " Roger Staubach knew the only way over the mountains was thru the Raider badlands" or " Like a Nordic warrior Paul Hornung disassembled the once mighty Viking defense"
Here's the thing about lists (and around these parts, football-related lists): You'll never get everyone anyone to agree. When NFL Network debuted NFL Films' Top 10 Heisman Trophy Winners on Monday night, let's just say there was a strong reaction . Keep in mind this list ranks Heisman winners based on what they've accomplished in the NFL. See if you can identify where people are having issues: 1. Barry Sanders 2. Roger Staubach 3. O.J. Simpson 4. Paul Hornung 5. Charles Woodson 6. Tony Dorsett 7. Tim Tebow 8. Earl Campbell 9. Marcus Allen 10. Cam Newton One through six reads without heavy controversy, but then we hit Tebow at No. 7. NFL Films is floating the idea that Tebow's two-year NFL career has catapulted the feats of two Hall of Famers -- Campbell and Allen (not to mention the Doak Walker of the Detroit Lions ). We have questions with Newton making this list, but three spots below Tebow? You try convincing Ron Rivera to swap his quarterback for the New York Jets backup. This one didn't sit well wit ...
The latest episode of the NFL's Top 10 on the NFL Network, lists Heisman Trophy winners. 10. Cam Newton 9. Marcus Allen 8. Earl Campbell 7. Tim Tebow 6. Tony Dorsett 5. Charles Woodson 4. Paul Hornung 3. O.J. Simpson 2. Roger Staubach 1. Barry Sanders Tebow ranked ahead of two Hall of Famers and one player who was offensive rookie of the year ago? Really? Give me a break. He hasn't done enough to warrant a place on this list, especially since his playing time is going to decrease in New York. Where's Tim Brown? Jim Plunkett? Doug Flutie? Billy Sims? Herschel Walker? Vinny Testaverde? Eddie George? Reggie Bush? All of those players had better careers than Tebow. What a joke.
