Songs of 2014 Selection FKA Twigs- "Pendulum"; Album: LP1 Twigs is divisive. On most of her tracks she is easily quickly written off as too weird, too Tricky/Martina Topley-Bird, too Bjork, too fashion... maybe even a bit too reliant on the talent of her hotshot hype producers. But single 2/Track 4 from her heavily hyped and praised debut "Pendulum" takes little time to assert its dominance of the new generation of R&B and Electronic pop. We all know the best work in the genre cuts directly to the soul, enacts transformative healing, sensual or grieving experiences on the listener, or in some way matches the pulse of the beating heart of its generation of listeners. Not only does FKA (Formerly Known As) perform all of these feats, but she completely exhilarates- thanks in no small part to the (now Grammy Nominated) hypertextured production from she and Paul Epworth. Her voice departs the realms of Trip Hop kitsch, (the launching pad of her career and aesthetic) and is wielded expertly as a precision instr ...

U2 PUSH BACK NEW ALBUM AND TOUR TO 2015 After high profile promotional appearances at the Grammys and Academy Awards and the unveiling of the new song “Invisible” during the Super Bowl, it appears U2 will again leave the spotlight and return to the studio to continue work on the follow-up to 2009’s No Line On the Horizon. Billboard reports the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame quartet has delayed the release of their next record until 2015 in order to schedule new recording sessions with producers Ryan Tedder of the Grammy-winning pop group OneRepublic and Paul Epworth, known for his work with Paul McCartney and pop singer Adele, among many others.

New is an upcoming album by Paul McCartney, to be released on 14 October 2013. UK Oct 15 US. It is his sixteenth studio album and his first since 2007's Memory Almost Full to consist entirely of new compositions McCartney had initially intended to trial four of his favourite producers and select the best to record the whole album with. McCartney ended up recording with all four: Mark Ronson, Ethan Johns, Paul Epworth and Giles Martin. Martin produced the majority of the tracks and as acted as executive producer on the album. Recording took place at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles; Avatar Studios in New York; Abbey Road Studios, Air Studios and Wolf Tone Studios in London; and The Mill in East Sussex. Ronson had been selected following his set as DJ at McCartney's wedding to Nancy Shevell two years before production began. The producer noted that he was preoccupied with his own wedding occurring at about the same time as McCartney's, and had nearly forgotten to call him back to accept the offer. .. ...
For any recording project that includes a vocal, capturing the ultimate performance might require some push and pull between the producer and the talent, and often the tact and technique of the producer plays a pivotal role in the quality of the recorded performance. Echoes’ Andre Calilhanna sat with producer/engineer/studio owner Jon Marc Weiss to discuss production techniques and gather insight into how to get the optimum vocal performance on tape.   I read an article in which Adele commented on how Paul Epworth – or it might have been Rick Rubin – got her to sing notes on 21 she didn’t know she could sing. I found that really interesting, that someone who had already achieved success and notoriety as star vocalist was able to discover new facets to her voice because of a producer she obviously trusted. As a producer, how do you know how far you can push an artist?   I think the producer’s experience plays a big part in this. How many artists they’ve worked with in their career ...

Talk about pressure in my section at the Governor's Ball following the Oscars! On one side of this particular table was Barbra Streisand (with James Brolin), Adele (with co-songwriter Paul Epworth), and Shirley Bassey along with songwriters Alan and Marilyn Bergman (whom I adore). On the other was John Travolta and Nora Jones. Yet, the butlers I had watching over this table did an excellent job.
Paul Epworth never gets the mainstream credit his talent deserves. Has penned brilliant songs over the years for Florence Welch and Adele.

So the guy who picked up the Oscar with Adele, Paul Epworth, was responsible for producing a high percentage of the music of the mid-00's that made me believe doing Altrok was worthwhile. The Futureheads, Bloc Party, Maximo Park, The Long Blondes, The Rakes and Florence + The Machine were all his productions. Nice to see him getting this kind of recognition.

Streisand to perform at Oscars First live performance at Academy Awards since 1977 By Jon Weisman Barbra Streisand will perform at the 85th annual Academy Awards on Feb. 24, headlining a ceremony that is rapidly filling with performances and music. It will be Streisand's second performance ever at the Oscars and first in 36 years, since singing "A Star Is Born" in 1977. She won an original song Oscar for "Evergreen" that night. "In an evening that celebrates the artistry of movies and music," said Oscarcast exec producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, "how could the telecast be complete without Barbra Streisand? We are honored that she has agreed to do a very special performance." Streisand also won a lead actress Oscar for 1968's "Funny Girl" and has been nominated three other times in three different categories. Previously, the Academy announced that Adele will perform the Oscar-nominated title song that she co-wrote with Paul Epworth from "Skyfall" at the Oscars, and that Norah Jones will perform "Everyb ...

Adele To Perform Bond Theme Song ‘Skyfall’ Live At Oscars LONDON (Reuters) – British singer Adele will return to the stage next month after a year absence to perform her Oscar-nominated song “Skyfall” at the 85th Academy Awards, the show’s producers said on Wednesday. The theme tune to the latest James Bond movie was written by Adele and Paul Epworth. It is the first Bond theme to be nominated for the original song award at the Oscars since “For Your Eyes Only” in 1981. The Feb. 24 show will be Adele’s first live performance since the Grammy Awards last April and the first time she will perform “Skyfall” live, as she has kept a low profile since giving birth to a son last October. “It’s an honour to be nominated and terrifyingly wonderful to be singing in front of people who have captured my imagination over and over again,” Adele, 24, said in a statement. “It’s something I’ve never experienced and probably only ever will once!” She was in Hollywood last month to pick u ...
