HISTORY HAS BEEN WRITTEN! The LA Kings are officially the first team in NHL history to win 3 game 7's on the road during one playoff season!! They have made a huge comeback and defeated the Chicago Blackhawks in 5-4 OT!!! The game was nothing short of amazing with the kings trailing 2 goals in the 1st Period and then again found themselves down 1 late in the 3rd! It was truly a Playoff Series for the ages with both teams leaving nothing left in the tank and taking it to a fitting OT!! LA goal Scorers. Jeff Carter, Justin (Mr. Game 7) Williams, Tyler Toffoli, Marian Gaborik and the Game winning goal by Alec Martinez. Chicago goal scorers: Jonathan Toews (PPG), Brandon Saad, Patrick Sharp with 2 goals (1 PPG) We now have our Stanley Cup Game on Wednesday between Rangers and Kings and this match up could easily go to 7 aswell. Can the Kings continue this miraculous run? or will Alain Vigneault and Martin St Louis continue there lucky break in being traded to the right team? Tell us your thoughts!
The Chicago Blackhawks fall to the Los Angeles Kings. The final score 4-3. Goals scored by Jonathan Toews who scored two goals for the Chicago Blackhawks and Patrick Sharp. The Los Angeles Kings lead the series 2-1.
I enjoyed the writing in this article I found on the website. I hope you do. -Brenda - There are few surprises between the two teams in the 2014 Western Conference Final. They have played each other too often in too many big games to have secrets from each other. If there were a hidden wrinkle or two introduced by the Los Angeles Kings of the Chicago Blackhawks, it has been observed and game-planned against by the other. "I think both teams are well-coached, have great scouts, and I think everyone is pretty prepared as far as what the other team is going to do," Chicago forward Patrick Sharp said. "It takes a couple of games to know the tendencies of the guys you are playing against. Every series we have ever played in, by the end of the series it seems we know the other team inside out and vice versa and we are starting to see that now." The teams are tied at one win apiece in this best-of-7 series with Game 3 at Staples Center on Saturday (8 p.m. ET, NBC, CBC, RDS). For four of the first five periods of ...

On their heels and playing a man short for most of the second period.the DEFENDING Stanley Cup CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS put on a scoring playoff clinic scoring three--no make that FOUR goals in the final period---eliminating the St. Louis Blues and moving on to the second round of the NHL playoffs with a 5-1 win. Kudos to goalie Corey Crawford who held this team together during SIX Blues Power Plays. The Captain, Jonathan Toews scored early in the third to give Chicago a 2-1 lead. A minute and a half later Patrick Sharp scored his first goal and point of the series as the Hawks went up 3-1. Defenseman Duncan Keith unloaded a laser from the blue line that Andrew Shaw got a stick on and redirectd past Blues goalie Ryan Miller to make it 4-1. Duncan Keith scores on a break away on an empty netter. 5-1. He also had THREE assists. My stars- Toews, Crawford and Keith with the number one star!!! What a brutal, bruising series. Thuggery, high sticking, hard hitting and I loved every minute of it. Very well play ...

Blackhawks host showdown against Sharks January 5, 2014, at 11:20 AM ET (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Jose Sharks hope to shrug off their recent woes against the Chicago Blackhawks as they visit the Windy City for Sunday's battle at the United Center. The Sharks have lost four straight overall in this series and were dealt a 5-1 loss on Nov. 17 in Chicago. That setback was San Jose's sixth in a row at the United Center and its eighth loss in the last 10 meetings as the guest in this series. Patrick Sharp, who recorded a hat trick for Chicago in Friday's win at New Jersey, had two goals and assist in the Blackhawks' rout over the Sharks in mid-November. Corey Crawford also stopped 23-of-24 shots to help Chicago beat the Sharks for the sixth time in seven meetings. Sharp posted his fourth career hat trick and his second in Chicago's last five games, as the Blackhawks used a four-goal third period to take a 5-3 triumph over the Devils on Friday at Prudential Center. With nine goals in his last six games, Sha ...

Ducks get shootout win against Blackhawks The Anaheim Ducks went to a third straight shootout, and this time they made sure it didn't last very long Friday night at United Center. Nick Bonino and Kyle Palmieri scored in the shootout, and the Ducks earned the extra point in a 3-2 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks. After allowing a goal to Jonathan Toews to start the shootout, Anaheim goalie Jonas Hiller made saves against Patrick Sharp in the second round and Patrick Kane in the third to end it, giving the Ducks (19-7-5) their first shootout victory since Oct. 18 against the Phoenix Coyotes. "We've been in shootouts the past three games and those are where you've got to get those extra points," said Corey Perry, who scored his 17th goal early in the first period. "Those extra points are crucial. Guys buckled down tonight and got the win." Ryan Getzlaf assisted on Perry's goal and scored on a power play midway through the second period. Along with a secondary assist by Dustin Penner on Perry's goal, th ...

I watcheds the first pre-season games for the New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks yesterday and have to say I was impressed with both teams, Schneider was amazing and I was supprised to say the same for Eddie Lack for the Canucks he was great in net. They still lost it in the 3rd to the San Jose Sharks when they couldn't get the goal to tie it up but still an amazing game from everbody, Shinkaruk was also a great addition to the team I'm hoping for great things from him this season! Being outshot 42 - 16 they definitely need to get more shots off but had a great passing game they held it in the zone like champions. With penalties left and right that could've been anybody's game but I can't wait for the next one! I'd love to hear everybody else's opinions on the pre-season openers or any game from any team! For any other Official Detroit Red Wings fans stop reading this now cause they're currently down 2 - 0 against the Chicago Blackhawks after the second with goals by Patrick Sharp and Ben Smith in t ...

Blackhawks Looking Toward Another Stanley Cup Win by THE ASSOCIATED PRESS June 26, 2013 CHICAGO (AP) — When Rocky Wirtz took over the Chicago Blackhawks six years ago, they were among the worst teams in the NHL. Fast forward to Tuesday, when the owner mingled with fans and friends hours after the Blackhawks flew home with the Stanley Cup for the second time in four seasons. It's been quite the turnaround, and the 60-year-old Wirtz thinks there is more to come. "I think we're going to see a lot of good years ahead of us," he said. It sure looks that way. Unlike in 2010, when the title-winning team underwent changes because of salary-cap issues, the Blackhawks will be able to bring back many of their top players next season when they try to become the first repeat Stanley Cup winner since the Detroit Red Wings in 1998. Forwards Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp, and defensemen Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook are all under contract for at least two more seasons. Brandon Saad, one ...

Image of the Day Good as Advertised When Stanley Cup Final matchup was set hockey purists were salivating at the thought of an Original Six showdown, as the Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins were mirror images of each other, as experts predicted a long exciting series. The first three games were ruled by defense, on Wednesday it was the offenses that dictated the pace in Game 4 as the Blackhawks evened the series at two games apiece with a 6-5 win in overtime. In the second period the Blackhawks twice had a two goal lead, only to see the Bruins continue to fight back. After the Bruins tied the game 4-4 in the third period, the Blackhawks regained the lead on goal by Patrick Sharp; only to have the Bruins tied the game again 54 seconds later on a goal by Johnny Boychuk. The game went to overtime for the third time in four games, with the Brent Seabrook scoring the game winner.
Image of the Day Working Overtime The Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks went into overtime again Saturday, as the 2013 Stanley Cup Final is shaping up to be an all-time classic through two games. This time it was the Bruins celebrating at the end of the game, as Daniel Paille beat Corey Crawford at 13:48 to give Boston a 2-1 win. Things did not look good early for the Bruins, as the Blackhawks dominated the first period, with a 19-4 shot advantage. However, Tuukka Rask allowed just one goal by Patrick Sharp, as another was waved off do to a quick whistle from the referees. The Bruins would even late in the second period on goal by Chris Kelly, his first of the playoffs. After a scoreless first period, the Bruins came out flying in overtime, dominating the attack time, as Jaromir Jagr narrowly missed winning the game early. The series even at a game apiece, now shifts to Boston for Game 3, which be played on Monday Night.

Blackhawks chase Quick in 2nd period, top Kings 4-2 to take 2-0 lead in West finals CHICAGO - There's a sign in the hallway that runs from the home locker room to the ice at the United Center. It says "EARN IT," and it was sure hard to argue that the Chicago Blackhawks haven't done just that during an impressive start to the Western Conference Finals. Bryan Bickell and Michal Handzus scored on consecutive shots in the second period, and Chicago chased goalie Jonathan Quick on its way to a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings in Game 2 on Sunday night. Andrew Shaw and Brent Seabrook also scored as the rolling Blackhawks grabbed a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series with their fifth consecutive victory. Patrick Sharp and Brandon Saad had two assists apiece, and Corey Crawford made 29 saves in another solid performance. "It's a high-speed game. If we use our speed, we'll be all right," Shaw said. Blackhawks 2, Kings 1 Blackhawks lead Western Final series 1-0 - After giving up an early goal to the Kings' Justin Williams in the first period (only the second shot on goal for the defending champs at that point), the Chicago Blackhawks got two pucks past the lightning reflexes of Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick (who looks strikingly similar to Eminem, only with longer, darker hair), with Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa logging the scores. - Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford stopped 21 of 22 pucks he faced, while, in defeat, Quick stopped 34 of 36 shots he faced for Los Angeles. Knowing what I know about the two teams, I expect seldom goals and more of the same the rest of the series. We'll see what happens in Game 2 tonight. GO BLACKHAWKS!
Marian Hossa’s deflection gives Blackhawks 2-1 victory over Kings in Game 1 On the day before Game 1, Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane and head coach Joel Quenneville were asked about how to solve Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick. Both of their answers involved "traffic" and "second opportunities," something the Blackhawks used Saturday in their a 2-1 victory to take a 1-0 series lead. Chicago did everything they could to beat Quick in the first period, but the Kings netminder wouldn't allow any of the 17 shots fired by the Blackhawks past him. Meanwhile, the Kings managed just two shots on Corey Crawford at the other end, one of them coming off of Justin Williams' stick for a 1-0 lead. Finally, in the second period, the Blackhawks figured out Quick, who had allowed seven goals in his previous five games entering Game 1. First, Chicago cashed in on one of those "second opportunities" when Johnny Oduya's shot bounced off Quick's pad and onto Patrick Sharp's stick, who then put it home f ...

Blackhawks 3, Stars 2 (OT) Marian Hossa scored 1:41 into overtime as the Chicago Blackhawks (4-0-0) remained unbeaten with a 3-2 overtime win over the Dallas Stars (2-1-1) before 17,868 fans at American Airlines Center. Hossa's goal came 1:41 after Chicago went on the power play for a seventh time in the game after Stars captain Brenden Morrow was called for interference 22 seconds into the extra frame. It was the Blackhawks' third power-play goal of the game. Dallas took a 1-0 lead to the first intermission when Loui Eriksson scored a shorthanded goal with 1.4 seconds left. The Stars then had a great chance to double their advantage in the second period when Ryan Garbutt was awarded a penalty shot but his backhanded attempt was denied by Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford. The Stars went ahead 2-0 at 10:41 of the second when Ray Whitney knocked a backhand past Crawford for his second goal of the year. But Chicago's Patrick Sharp made it a one-goal game at 15:57 of the second when he scored on the power ...
