Noriyuki "Pat" Morita (June 28, 1932 – November 24, 2005) was an American film and television actor who was well known for playing the roles of Matsuo "Arnold" Takahashi on Happy Days and Kesuke Miyagi in the The Karate Kid movie series, for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1984. Pat was the lead actor in the television program Mr. T and Tina, regarded as the first American sitcom centered on a person of Asian descent, and Ohara, a police-themed drama. Both television shows were aired on ABC, but they were both short-lived. Pat Morita was born in Isleton, California. He developed spinal tuberculosis at the age of two and spent the bulk of the next nine years in Northern Californian hospitals, including the Shriners Hospital in San Francisco. For long periods he was wrapped in a full-body cast and was told he would never walk. It was during his time at a sanitarium near Sacramento that he was given his stage name, "Pat". Released from the hospital at a ...

Rob Lowe/Snow White.Bad? Sure. 2 years prior was the power trio of Telly Savalas, Pat Morita and Dom DeLuise
With voices from Eddie Murphy, Pat Morita and George Takei, you can never go wrong
Got off early from work and came to work out; pros= gym is empty. Cons= I got to work out with a dudes that look like Don Knotts, Walter Matthau, and Pat Morita
Watched "Thoroughly Modern Millie," a children's movie, from 1967 over the weekend starring Carol Channing, Mary Tyler Moore, and Julie Andrews. Well, I guess some things have changed over the years... Cantonese laundry men (Jack Soo, Pat Morita, and that "steal the pebble from my hand, Grasshopper" guy) in league with a chopstick-coiffed white Dragon Lady (Beatrice Lilllie, in her finest final post-vaudeville performance) in white slavery: drugging and kidnapping single, orphan, young women for export to.? Best line, by Julie Andrews at the very end to her beau: "I don't want to be your equal, I just want to be a woman!" Yep, I guess things have changed a bit since '67...
Stumbled on this and am fascinated and horrified: Walker played Howard Cunningham's cousin and appeared on Happy Days -- set in the 50s. Yet this show takes place in 1977. Pat Morita appears as Arnold -- again: 1977. Eddie Mekka was STILL on Laverne & Shirley but playing a different role on this show. Scott Baio and Lynda Goodfriend are in the cast before joining Happy Days. The theme is the same singer who did L&S theme. Caren Kaye was always hot. Nice cheesy wink at the end. Jeff DiVeronica and Chuck Creme and Dave Blask: you should watch this.

Get Paid to Act No Matter Where You Live This text is from a member of the National Board of Directors of the Screen Actors Guild, currently based in Hawaii and consulting with two television programs located there, Scott Rogers. Title implies expletive (deleted). This book is a practical guide to working as an actor without moving to Hollywood. It was written for the tens of thousands of actors living all over country (and world!) who dream of being paid as a professional actor and fall into two basic categories: 1. Actors who are building experience and reel before making the big move to L.A. Both experience and reel are easier to get in smaller markets, as you will see in the book. 2. Actors who have decided to live where they are because they enjoy their quality of life or in order to maintain their commitments to family or their jobs. These actors are content to pick up acting jobs when they come along. This book is not meant to be an attack on Hollywood (in spite of the title!) But there is a miscon ...
Watching Karate Kid. Still floored that Ralph MacChio is older today than Pat Morita was when the movie debuted.
Need to say this before i go to sleep and forget it. Life is my pat morita.
But even tho I'm not posting the video, I did point out the Chinese leader guy looks like Pat Morita's illegitimate son. WAXONWAXOFF!

I think I just saw Pat Morita, riding a Harley, in True Religion sneakers. Crazy.
Here's something to lighten the mood: Jay Leno & Pat Morita in...a buddy cop movie?
you be Ralph MacChio and I'll be Pat Morita
i mean you probably had the connection anyway but because I saw him in person one time, now it's a lot closer of a connection, to Pat Morita
so if you ever need to do a Six Degrees of Pat Morita thing, and you follow me on here, now you have the connection
i once saw Pat Morita at a buffet at I want to say The Mirage hotel in Las Vegas in 2005, like three months before he died
Washed two cars. By hand. Just like the good old days.wax on wax off.I needed Pat Morita for guidance...
He's supposedly dead, but I'm pretty sure I Pat Morita is hanging out at the cabaret at the Paris Hotel in Vegas. And he dances pretty well for a dead guy.
The moment you realize that Pat Morita was in Happy Days...
1984 was the year Pat Morita taught us how to love
Which of these anniversaries make you feel older: 1. The film A Christmas Story turning 30 this year. 2. The film Napoleon Dynamite turning 10 next year. I am still trying to come to terms with the fact that Ralph MacChio today is older than Pat Morita was when he played Mr. Miyagi in the original Karate Kid.
S/O to Noriyuki "Pat" Morita (Mr. Miyagi) for doing the voice of The Emperor in
I'm thankful that I've never heard Pat Morita talk unless he was playing Mr. Miyagi.
Okay but for real, Pat Morita is seriously the wisest man ever. I wish I could've talked to him.

Pat Morita just made me laugh with his short sword Joke! Was not expecting that on a friday night.
Watching Karate Kid with my son...life is good! Not the POS with Jayden Smith...the 1984 Ralph MacChio/Pat Morita classic, the only version...No Mercy!
If I fought in the UFC I would come out to the theme song from the Karate Kid with a Pat Morita lookalike
Not only did Will Smith remake the Karate Kid, but he also made Pat Morita die in real life. A lot of people don't know that.
Something to think about for those of you who saw the original Karate Kid movie - Today, Ralph Maccio is now as old as Pat Morita was in the movie back in 1984 (well within a year anyway). One of the odd facts mentioned in my C7 Business Model class this past weekend. Time flies.
*** Butkis and Pat Morita in the same Magnum PI episode lol forgot about this one
Died this day in history: Lee Harvey Oswald, Freddy Mercury, Eric Carr, Albert Collins and Pat Morita!
I never knew Katy Perry was Japanese ... Would rather listen to Pat Morita...
On this day in 1991 Freddie Mercury died of AIDS complications!! In 2005 Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi from Karate Kid) died of kidney failure! And in 2012 Puerto Rican boxer Hector Camacho died from gunshot injuries!! All on November 24!!!
8 years ago today we lost a great actor and karate instructor. Pat Morita.RIP
Today in history, Let us honor Pat Morita today. This is the day of his honorable passing. If you don't know the man he was, look it up. R.I.P. Pat. You are missed.
Played football this afternoon and now I feel like the oldest man. Not Richard Attenborough-old, though, but Pat Morita-old. When he was alive, obviously, though that might change later.
THOUGHTS I HAD WHILE PEELING POTATOES: When my sons were small, we used things we saw on TV to teach lessons. Now, I know TV is the evil giant, blah, blah, blah but we shared a lesson on honor and pride from the Karate Kid series of movies that I could not have taught if I had said "Now let's sit down and discuss the ancient custom of honor among 17th-18th century Samurai and how it influences the Asian culture to this day". Thanks, Ralph MacChio and Pat Morita. Granted the TV today is not the time of innocence we find in *** Van *** Bonanza, Mayberry type shows but there are still points to be discussed, lessons to be learned. Who has not wanted to Gibbs-slap someone, (probably someone like Sheldon Cooper), work side-by-side with an undercover boss and get some good stuff for it because of your excellence as an employee or travel with Gordon Ramsey to a diner and tell those people you had a TERRIBLE DINING EXPERIENCE WITH THEM? My point? Yes, there is one. TV may seem like it is pulling us down ...

When Time Ran Out! When Time Ran Out... is a disaster film released in 1980, starring Paul Newman, Jacqueline Bisset, William Holden, James Franciscus, Ernest Borgnine, Red Buttons, Burgess Meredith, Valentina Cortese, Veronica Hamel, Pat Morita, Edward Albert, and Barbara Carrera. It was directed by James Goldstone. Produced by the "Master of Disaster," Irwin Allen, When Time Ran Out... is marginally based on the novel The Day the World Ended by Gordon Thomas and Max Morgan-Witts detailing the factual 1902 volcanic eruption of Mount Pelée on Martinique, which killed 30,000 people in five minutes by pyroclastic flow.

Happy Birthday to: Melvin James Kaminsky, but most people know him as Mel Brooks, the sheer comedic genius behind so many television programs and motion pictures. Here are just a few titles: "Your Show Of Shows", "Get Smart", "Blazing Saddles", "The Producers", "History Of The World Part One", "Young Frankenstein", and so many more. One of my favorites is the ever-changing, always hilarious colloboration with fellow genius Carl Reiner as "The 2,000-Year Old Man". Gilda Susan Radner, who left us way too soon, but whose legacy will live on in features like "Haunted Honeymoon" (with then-husband Gene Wilder) and "The Woman In Red", and especially the plethora of fabulous characters on "Saturday Night Live" (with previous husband, house band guitarist G.E. Smith). Thank you for all the laughs, Gilda, you were awesome! Noriyuki Morita, who provided hundreds of characters and voices in just about every television program and motion picture over four decades. Always a class act, Pat Morita was also a talented st ...

King Kublai Khan in the play Yellow Shakespeare gets deliberately mis-pronounced by entertainment exec Martin Cain (Chadd Stoops) as "King Cobra Kai," noted to be from a particularly iconic 80s movie starring Ralph MacChio/Pat Morita by Director Andy Lowe. Today I'd like to honor the man who raised me to know right from wrong. The man who taught me the value of respect and honor. To breathe in and breathe out. To wax on, to wax off. The greatest mentor a growing boy could ask for, Pat Morita! Thank you, Mr. Miyagi. Happy Fathers Day, everyone!
China pressing claims for Okinawa? Ralph MacChio: I would do something, but they'll sweep the leg and Pat Morita's dead...
My Netflix Top 10 includes... The Karate Kid Part II. *** this might be a violation of my civil rights. I never EVER browsed anything that was remotely relevant to martial arts, children, or Pat Morita.

Home with Justin who has the stomach bug today. :( Watching the original Karate Kid -- had forgotten how really great this movie is! Pat Morita is awesome, WAY better than Jackie Chan!!!
You need to tell Stan or Mel(maintenence employees) to fix or water heater tmrw. I can cause more heat than Pat Morita fixing Daniel before he faces the Cobra Kai The text message to my morning supervisor.
This "Karate Kid" with Will Smith's kid is crap... And Jackie Chan, though great, is no Pat Morita. Long live Daniel-san and Mr. Miyagi!
All of the fight scenes in the original Karate Kid were real, taken directly from Pat Morita's home video collection.
Older than Pat Morita was during the first Karate Kid film.
In honour of the passing of Allan Arbus, just watched one of his early ('73) M*A*S*H episodes. Also starring... John Ritter and Pat Morita?!
Whats scary is that Ralph MacChio is the SAME AGE as Pat Morita when they made the 1st Karate Kid. Nice 2 see Billy Zabka 2.

Random thought I just have to share: Pat Morita was much more Mr. Miyagi in my mind than Arnold from Happy Days.
Pat Morita + hacker = best moment. I'll regret to the day I die I didn't get it on tape.
The actor Noriyuki "Pat" Morita really was a hero in real life. He conquered obstacles. Many only know him by the role Mr. Miyagi in film

Prepare to feel old. Pat Morita was 51 when the original Karate Kid came out. Ralph MacChio is now 51 years old.
Now that Ralph MacChio is Pat Morita's age in the first Karate Kid, it would be great to see a movie about Daniel Larusso teaching an Asian Kid Martial Arts using the skills he learned from Mr. Miyagi. Even if it was only direct to DVD I'd pick it up. With Bill & Ted 3, Ghost Busters 3 and a new Goonies constantly being rumored, why not?

This week on Downton Poorhouse: Upon learning that Lord Grantham has agreed to participate in a boxing match to settle the debts of the manor, a concerned Shrimpie sends his martial arts coach, Mr. Miyagi to Downton. Pat Morita guest stars.
Has our generation become way too suspicious about the intentions of adults toward children in movies? Watching a horror movie called Burnt Offerings where an elderly Burgess Meredith is watching a young lad out a window. First thought above all others was 'don't go near him kid...probably a peadophile'. I just know I'll feel guilty about my accusation later when he saves the family. If I were watching The Shining or Karate Kid for the first time nowadays, I'd probably point the same finger at Scatman Crothers and Pat Morita...
Can't sleep, so I'm up watching my favorite WWII war movie. I know for most guys my age, it's Saving Private Ryan, and I even know a few fellas that put Enemy at the Gates at the top of their list (that one is actually second on my list). No, for me it's the 1976 classic Midway, staring Henry Fonda and Charlton Heston. Not only was it a pretty accurate tactical recounting of one of the War's most pivotal battles at sea, but had a cast with as many powerful stars of the time as Private Ryan. Along with Heston and Fonda, we had Hal Holbrook, James Coburn, Robert Mitchum, Cliff Robertson, Pat Morita, Robert Wagner, Toshiro Mifune, Robert Ito, and Dabney Coleman just to name a few.
I hope the Senators ask Leon Panetta why he sold Al's Diner to Pat Morita.
Elizabeth Shue is fit in an 80's way but Ralph MacChio looks 9. Doesn't help if you are 16 & called Ralph! The late Pat Morita makes it.

Fun fact: They originally wanted Scott Baio for the role of Daniel, but Pat Morita kept referring to him as "Fonzie's cousin"
So was Pat Morita judo chopping dishes in 'Happy Days' learning karate?
I was actually more jealous of Pat Morita's hair.
"Rule: karate is for defense only. Rule follow rule - Mr Miyagi
I think it was smart to focus on Pat Morita's character after the first film though. Daniel really doesn't have much story left.
Seriously how did Pat Morita not win at least 2 best supporting actor Oscars, Mr Miaygi is a friggin legend. In USA and Okinawa!
Watching Karate Kid - the original. Pat Morita is so good.
A Person with no forgiveness in heart live with worse punishment than death - Pat Morita (Karate Kid 2)
Bonzai! Bonzai Daniel-san! *** you Pat Morita and Ralph MacChio for making it so hard to turn off the TV and sleep!
Growing up I loved "The Karate Kid" movie with Ralph MacChio & Pat Morita..& it just happens to be on AMC right now.
In my younger days I never noticed how romantic Karate Kid II is
It's some kind of shame that Pat Morita passed away before we got the chance to hear him say "Will the real Slim Shady please stand up?"
I'm watching Karate Kid and Annie is now practicing her wax on, wax off moves and deep breathing techniques.
