Now imagine that you are a black student in 1957 preparing to go to Little Rock Central High School to attempt what seemed impossible -- the integration of public schools. These students were aware of what the public thought of their entering into a "white" high school. They didn't worry about fitting in. Most whites, including the governor at the time, Orval Faubus, stood against them. Most troubling to the students was the fact that many blacks thought that the integration of Central would cause more trouble for their race than good. On this day in Black History: Daisy Lee Gatson Bates (November 12, 1914 – November 4, 1999) was an American Civil Rights Activist, publisher, and writer who played a leading role in the Little Rock Integration Crisis of 1957. Bates was raised by Orle and Susie Smith, whom she believed to be her birth parents for many years. In "The Death of my Mother," Bates recounted learning as a child that her birth mother had been sexually assaulted and murdered by three local white men. Her father left the family shortly after her mother's death and left her in the care of his closest friend. L.C. Bates, an insurance salesman who had also worked on newspapers in the South and West. L. C. dated her for several years, and they married in 1942, living in Little Rock. The Bates decided to act on a dream of theirs, the ownership of a newspaper. They leased a printing plant that belonged to a church publication and inaugurating the Arkansas State Press. The first issue appeared on May 9, 1941. The paper became an avid vo ...
The Six Black U.S. Presidents Thomas Jefferson the third elected president, who served two terms between 1801 and 1809 was described as the “son of a half-breed Indian squaw and a Virginia mulatto father,” as stated in Vaughn’s findings. Jefferson also was said to have destroyed all documentation attached to his mother, even going to extremes to seize letters written by his mother to other people. Only in recent years did the family of Thomas Jefferson acknowledged he was the father of the (5 or 6) children born to a slave on his plantation, Sally Hemmings. President Andrew Jackson, the nation’s seventh president, was in office between 1829 and 1837. A renowned African-American historian J. A. Today In Black History HBD Dorthy Dandridge • November 9, 1731 Benjamin Banneker, astronomer, surveyor, and almanac author, was born in Ellicott’s Mills, Maryland. When he was old enough to help on his parent’s farm, his formal education ended. In 1753, he carved a wooden clock that struck hourly, using a pocket watch as a model, and continued to work until his death. He began to study astronomy using borrowed books and equipment in 1788. In 1791, Banneker was hired to assist in the survey of what is now the District of Columbia, however due to illness he only worked on the project for three months. Banneker made astronomical calculations that predicted solar and lunar eclipses that he included in a six year series of almanacs from 1792 to 1797. The almanacs included the times for the rising and setting of the sun and moon and were commercially successful. Banneker expressed his views on slavery and racial equality, including a plea for justice for African Americans, in a 1791 letter to United State ...

Borrowed from a brilliant man: it wasn't the Democrats who freed the slaves; it was the Republicans. The Republican Party was formed as an abolitionist party to eradicate slavery in the U.S. It was Republican President Abraham Lincoln who signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Republicans in Congress voted 94% to pass the 14th Amendment granting citizenship to former slaves. Not one Democrat voted for the 14th Amendment. Republicans elected blacks (Hiram Rhodes Revels, Benjamin Turner, Robert De Large, Josiah Walls, Jefferson Long, Joseph Hayne Rainey, Robert Brown Elliott)to Congress after the Civil War. The chairman of the Republican Convention in 1884 was a former slave, Rep. John Roy Lynch. Democrats formed the KKK and fought against Civil Rights laws and enacted the Jim Crow laws. And it was the slave owning Democratic president Andrew Jackson who forced the Native American Indians to relocate to reservations during the infamous 'Trail of Tears.' And it was the Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhowe ...
The Democrat Race Lie This whopper deserves all the attention it can get. Again, it shows the ignorance and contempt of the electorate liberals depend on. In 2010, Democrats gave their website a facelift and whitewash. Click on the screenshot above to see what they used to say about their Civil Rights history. Prior to 2010, the following is what readers got when they clicked on the Democrats.org “History” button…. Democrats are unwavering in our support of equal opportunity for all Americans. That’s why we’ve worked to pass every one of our nation’s Civil Rights laws, and every law that protects workers. Most recently, Democrats stood together to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act. On every Civil Rights issue, Democrats have led the fight. We support vigorous enforcement of existing laws, and remain committed to protecting fundamental Civil Rights in America. Isn't the Democrat party the party of KKK, Jim Crow, Orval Faubus, Bull Conner, George Wallace and Rob Byrd? Yes it is!
A much needed history lesson just before the election... Truth about the Democratic Party. One of the problems with the American system of voting is that the voters, generally are not well informed when it comes to the political parties or the candidates. Take for instance the belief by most blacks in America that the Democratic party has allways been the party that has supported Civil Rights. The fact is, that is not true. Lets look at several instances concerning Congress's response to Civil Rights: 1956: Ninety-seven Democrats in congress condem the Supreme Court's decision in Brown V. Board of education and pledge to continue segregation. 1957: Sparking criticism from Democrats such as Senators John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson, President Dwight Eisenhower deploys the 82nd Airborne Division to Little Rock, AR to force Democrat Governor Orval Faubus to integrate public schools 1963: Republicans condemn Democrat sheriff of Birmingham, AL for arresting over 2,000 African-American schoolchildren marching .. ...

55 Years ago – September 4, 1957 - A Little Rock, Arkansas: nine young black students were banned from re-entry to Central High School (previously reserved to the only white children) by the State Governor, Orval Faubus, who will go up to call in the guard of Arkansas to respect its decision. Riots broke out while the black students come before the establishment and are insulting. The decision of the Governor will set in motion a major conflict with the federal Government and will lead to the intervention of president Dwight d. Eisenhower who will be eventually forced to place the National Guard of Arkansas under the control of 1,000 Federal soldiers from the 101st division airborne to force the integration of the high school. Constantly harassed, nine students ("the Little Rock 9") saw assign each a member of the 101st as a bodyguard. The Governor chose September 12, 1958, to close schools rather than accept qu'elles are multiracial. The federal courts ordered their reopening, upheld by the supreme cou ...
People tell me I am too enamored with big government, but there is a reason for everything. Growing up small government states rights was represented by George Wallace,Bull Connor and Orval Faubus ,men whose shared characteristics included crueltry ,bigotry, ambition and backwardness. and what stopped them. Presidential power, federal legislation and federal troops in short big government. You may say this can't happen again, but its been my experience that human nature doesn't change only circumstances and opportunities do .
goes on a rant about how Robert Byrd, George Wallace, and Orval Faubus were evil Republicans.
" Those who are on the historically wrong side of the Chick-Fil-A controversy should think back to the civil-rights era, when people voiced outrage at the intolerance of famous bigots like George Wallace and Lester Maddox and Orval Faubus. The people who organized boycotts of these bigots and the places they represented back then were similarly accused of "intolerance" at the time. The lesson of that history remains a simple and clear one: One cannot end racial, ethnic, religious, or sexual intolerance by "tolerating" the people who practice it. They will only change when they are faced with becoming pariahs. It is no different today than it was fifty years ago."
The votes have been counted, and Phyllis Schlafly edged out Orval Faubus to be named the 2012 best worst name in US History. Congrats!??
