Oh, that 0-4 in the Nou Camp followed by some Leeds fans wearing Barca shirts to Old Trafford in the FA Cup.
Manchester United are looking into the possibility of bringing former centre-back Gerard Pique back to Old Trafford in January. The Spain international left the Red Devils to rejoin his boyhood club Barcelona in May 2008 for £5miilion, but according to the Express, United are hoping to lure him back to England for a second time. After being a regular for the La Liga giants in his 6 full seasons there, Pique is now less of a guarantee on new manager’s Luis Enrique’s team sheet, with Javier Mascherano and summer acquisition Jeremy Mathieu appearing to be the first-choice centre-back pairing this term. Signing a world-class defender is certainly United boss Louis Van Gaal’s priority when the transfer window re-opens in the New Year, and Pique would undoubtedly fit the bill. Since his return to the Nou Camp, the 27-year-old has picked up 4 La Liga titles and 2 Champions League trophies with the Catalan side, as well as 1 European Championships and 1 World Cup with Spain. Pique only signed a new 5-year ...

And now Della Valle admits that Cuadrado could leave if a deal is agreed before August 15, a deadline imposed by the Italian club and he believes that an offer will come in. Reports in Italy claim United are closing on a deal worth over £30million for the right-sided star - who impressed hugely at the World Cup finals. "Should it happen that an important offer arrives, we would have to allow Cuadrado to leave," he told local journalists. "So with that I am not so optimistic about a positive final situation as I think an offer will arrive in the next few days, but he will only leave for certain amounts. "But you need to understand if an imp ...

Manchester United have been heavy favourites to land the Former Arsenal man, but the Gunners also have a clause in their former captains clause which allows them to have first pick on the central-midfielder. Louis Van Gaal, who will take over at Old Trafford in the summer, identified Fabregas as his main target, but reports emerged that Manchester United did not wish to pursue Fabregas anymore which left the door open for Jose Mourinho to make a move. Fabregas and Barcelona have now allegedly agreed terms with Chelsea ...

Champions League: How Bayern, Barca Held To First Leg Draws. Bayern Munich and Barcelona were held to 1-1 draws against Manchester United and Atletico Madrid respectively in their Champions League quarterfinal first legs played on Tuesday night Bayern, overwhelming favourites in the tie, dominated possession at Old Trafford but were left to rue their lack of cutting edge when Nemanja Vidic rose highest to head in Wayne Rooney's corner in the 58th minute. The holders hit back in the 67th minute with Bastian Schweinsteiger expertly steering home from a Mario Mandzukic knock-down. Schweinsteiger was sent off in the 90th minute for a second booking and will miss the return leg next week. Atletico substitute Diego opened the scoring at the Nou Camp with a sensational long-range strike for the La Liga leaders who lost top scorer Diego Costa with a hamstring injury in the 30th minute. Old Trafford side want Nou Camp enforcer. Former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song could be set for a move back to the Premier League with Man United said to be very interested in signing the Barcelona bit-part player according to the Daily Mirror. The 26 year old has struggled to retain a foothold in the Barcleona first term and may be ready to consider a move back to the English top tier, where he enjoyed seven seasons at the Emirates Stadium. Song would provide David Moyes with some much needed bite to help repel opposition advances and may well be made available by a Catalan side that doesn’t appear to have much of a need to keep hold of the defensive midfielder. The Man United boss is likely to offload Anderson on a permanent basis, with the Brazilian currently on loan at Fiorentina, and Tom Cleverley is playing for his future after a series of ineffective displays whilst veteran Ryan Giggs may opt to hang up his boots at the end of the current campaign. Song has started just nine of Barcelona’s 25 La ...

Ron Atkinson's side were given little chance of overturning that deficit against the Spanish giants, who were managed by World-Cup winning coach Cesar Luis Menotti and boasted a certain Diego Armando Maradona in their illustrious ranks. This match ranks arguably one of the greatest atmospheres experienced inside Old Trafford.

Solskjaer backing United pal Fletcher to give Scotland boss Strachan big boost for Euro 2016 As Bayern Munich's class of 1999 would readily lament, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows a thing or two about impeccable timing. A last-minute flick of the baby-faced assassin's outstretched boot instantly bestowed him hero status at Manchester United; the Miracle of the Nou Camp ensuring the Old Trafford club were crowned the kings of Europe for the first time since 1968. Now manager of Molde in his native Norway, the still youthful-looking 40-year-old believes his friend and former club-mate Darren Fletcher is destined to make a timely return for Scotland, just as the nation's fortunes are finally in the ascendancy. A team-mate of Fletcher's when he took his reserve bow for the Red Devils, a quirk of fate ensured Solskjaer was also an opponent when Fletcher made his international debut in a 0-0 draw in Oslo in August 2003. And, after a chance meeting in Manchester recently, Solskjaer is convinced the 29-year-old Scot . ...
Reports in the Daily Mail are suggesting that Andres Iniesta's row with Barcelona over a new contract may tempt Manchester United to make an audacious bid for the exceptional midfielder. Since his arrival at Old Trafford, David Moyes has attempted several big name moves, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Cesc Fabregas linked to the reigning Premier League champions. Today, it is being thought that the Red Devils may do the unthinkable and approach Barcelona over the availability of their talismanic midfielder. Iniesta, alongside midfield partner, Xavi, and the world's best player, Lionel Messi, has brought unprecedented success to the Catalan club over the past decade, becoming one of the best footballers. The 29-year old is part of an elite group of Barcelona players who look intent on spending their whole careers at the Nou Camp, however, contract negotiations between club and player have turned sour. Moyes coy over Thiago connection David Moyes has admitted he is doing everything he can to strengthen his Manchester United squad amid reports the club are close to completing the capture of midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona. Rumours that Thiago has opted to quit the Nou Camp in favour of Old Trafford in order to maximise his chances of making Spain's World Cup squad next summer have circulated for some time now. However, so far, the transfer has not been concluded and Moyes opted not to offer any specific updates when he met the media for the first time on Friday. Reports have emerged in Spain, though, that representatives of both clubs will meet next week to finalise the transfer. Thiago is available at a cut-price £17million as he did not feature in the number of first-team games stated in his Barca contract and it is claimed will sign a five-year deal to become Moyes' first significant capture since replacing Sir Alex Ferguson. "Manchester United will always be close to the best players," Mo ...
Thiago Alcantara could see his salary trebled should he join Manchester United this summer. The in-demand Barcelona midfielder is David Moyes’ main transfer target ahead of the Scot’s debut season in the Old Trafford dugout and Moyes is willing to pull out all the stops to get his man. The 22-year-old, who captained Spain’s Under-21 side to European Championship success last month, has found his first-team opportunities at the Nou Camp limited, leaving Manchester United positive they can agree a deal. Alcantara is expected to fetch a fee of around £15m and the reigning Premier League champions are believed to be prepared to offer the youngster three times what he is currently earning in Spain to convince him to quit his boyhood club. Bayern Munich, however, could make life difficult for Manchester United, with the Champions League holders thought to be preparing a late bid to take Alcantara to Germany.
Thiago Alcantara Chris Wheeler writes in the Daily Mail... Barca hold crisis talks with Thiago Barcelona will hold last-ditch talks with Thiago Alcantara to try and persuade the Spain midfielder to turn down a move to Manchester United. The Premier League champions have agreed personal terms of £5.5million-a-year with Thiago and his father, former Brazil World Cup winner Mazinho, and are confident of wrapping up a £17m transfer. Barca still hope to persuade the 22-year-old that he will be a ‘leader’ at the club for years to come but he remains unconvinced after struggling to secure a first-team place. Thiago has gone on holiday leaving his father and representatives to hold talks with the Spanish champions, and they are expected to tell Barcelona that he wants to quit the Nou Camp for Old Trafford. United have even gone to the effort of gathering character references on the player and are aware that both Manchester City and Bayern Munich could make a counter offer. They are understood to have no int ...
Manchester United could be ready to accept a cash plus player offer for unsettled striker Wayne Rooney according to reports in The Express. The Red Devils have already expressed a keen interest in Thiago Alcantara who seems to favour a move to Old Trafford, but Barcelona are now eager to make the most of United’s interest by bringing Rooney to the Nou Camp. The news comes from Catalan paper Sport who believe Barca would offer United Thiago plus £10 million for the number 10. The audacious deal would see an eventful beginning to Moyes’ tenure at United and would add more funds to the transfer pot as he looks to stamp his authority at the club. The Scot has a fractious past with the 27 year-old who he brought through the ranks at Everton. In 2006 the new United boss sued Rooney for libel after he claimed that he leaked his reasons for leaving the club to the press, Rooney later apologised for such an allegation. The centre-forward, who has asked to leave the club twice in three years managed to net 16 ...

Manchester United Fans still appear torn on whether selling Rooney would be a good or a bad thing, but there’s transfer news for them in the Daily Mail, with Thiago Alcantara reportedly having agreed personal terms at Old Trafford. A new midfielder has been on David Moyes’ wish-list since he took the helm, and the Spain and Barcelona starlet could be the perfect fit. The paper writes that the 22-year-old will set United back £17m after his release clause reduced at the Nou Camp because of a lack of first-team opportunities, and while a deal will not be formalised on Friday, discussions between the two clubs will continue over the weekend.
DAVID De Gea appears to have written hat-trick star Thiago Alcantara a cheeky ‘welcome to Manchester’ message. The Manchester United goalkeeper looks to have scribbled ‘See you in Manchester!’ on his Euro Under-21 final match-ball. Spanish midfielder Thiago is wanted by new United boss David Moyes as a long-term replacement for Paul Scholes. Barcelona’s whizkid capped some dazzling form in the Euro Under-21 Championships with a first-half treble in Tuesday’s 4-2 final victory over Italy and kept the ball as a souvenir. It was signed by every member of the victorious Spain squad. And it appears De Gea took the opportunity to give his team-mate a nudge towards a move to Old Trafford. Thiago was photographed holding the ball with the message ‘Nos Vemos en Manchester’ — which means ‘see you in Manchester’. De Gea has spoken openly of his desire for Thiago, 22, to join him in the Premier League — and Moyes could get him for just £15million. The Spaniard’s Nou Camp contract includes a ...

The Daily Star says United are braced for a long fight to get him to Old Trafford from Barcelona. Some of Sir Alex Ferguson's Most Memorable Moments; 1] The Treble 1998/99 The success generated from just 1 season won't be repeated in English football for a long time. The season started innocuously with a heavy loss to Arsenal at Wembley in the Charity Shield along with 2 draws to Leicester and West Ham but by January, United really get going. The highlights in the opening half of the season would be a thrashing of Wimbledon at Old Trafford coupled with a vital win over Liverpool at home thanks to a stunning Paul Scholes strike. The Champions League group contained the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona was always going to be difficult and a night to remember would be a 3-3 draw at the Nou Camp when the combination of Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke announced themselves on the European stage. They would qualify after a 1-1 draw to Bayern Munich. The route to the FA Cup wouldn't be easy either. A nervous win at home to Middlesbrough followed by a dramatic comeback at Old Trafford against Liverpool was a de ...
My take on the whole Ronaldo malarkey... I like Ronaldo a lot and appreciate what he did for us between 2003 and 2009, but I really think it's unwise to try to recreate the past and I think people need to move on. Ronaldo moved on in 2009, United moved on, signed other players (including the likes of Chicharito and RvP) and have won more trophies, so it's not as though we can't win without him, is it?! We won this season's title in style, we were declared Champions on 22nd April with 4 games to spare! *** I was sad in May 1997 when King Eric retired. Gutted, in fact. But things moved on and two years later, Teddy and Ole were responsible for the best night of my life at the Nou Camp on 26th May 1999! Ronny is a part of our great & glorious history, like the Babes, Law, Best & Charlton, Robbo, King Eric and so many others. He made a name for himself with us and we should be proud of that. BUT, let's all move on, please. Let's sign NEW players and allow them the chance to make names for themselves at Old .. ...
United targeting Cesc Fabregas; De Bruyne set for Chelsea return Former Manchester United left-back Denis Irwin has revealed the club’s top summer transfer target is FC Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, ESPN understands. Fabregas, 26, is reportedly seeking a move away from the Camp Nou after receiving inconsistent playing time under manager Tito Vilanova last season. According to reports, Arsenal have the ‘first-option’ to re-sign Fabregas, but United are confident they can outbid their English Premier League rivals for the Spain international. Irwin is currently an “ambassador” at Old Trafford. He was among the first experts to reveal the Red Devils’ interest in Arsenal forward Robin Van Persie last summer. “Cesc Fabregas has zoomed up Manchester United’s transfer target list to the top position and the champions are going to move heaven and earth to get him,” Irwin told the Sunday World. “The Barcelona star wants out of the Nou Camp and United want him badly, so the deal should be ...
David Moyes’ summer plans may have been dented with news that two of his former players may not be joining him at Old Trafford. It is thought that Moyes would be looking to add Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines to his squad at Manchester United but it appears neither will be following him to Old Trafford. Fellaini is one of many midfielders Moyes has looked at but it is believed that Arsenal have triggered the £22m release clause in Fellaini’s contract and are set to open talks with the Belgian about a move to The Emirates. Moyes has been actively seeking to bolster Manchester United’s midfield with Kevin Strootman, Thiago Alcantara and Cesc Fabregas all linked with the club, and whilst there is still a possibility that Strootman and Alcantara may arrive, Cesc has insisted that he will be staying at the Nou Camp. Leighton Baines has long been linked with Manchester United and this has increased further since Moyes was announced as new United manager, but the man the replaced Moyes at Goodison P ...
Mark Richardson raised a discussion topic on RadioSport yesterday about great sports stadiums or arenas. For him Lord's, the home of cricket, is the best stadium in the world. Some people might say Wembley, Old Trafford, Suncorp Stadium, the original Lang Park, the Nou Camp or Wimbledon. Sticking to rugby league only, what's your favourite stadium and why?

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to miss El Clasico — to keep him safe for the huge clash against Manchester United. Jose Mourinho will not risk his main man today because Real Madrid regard Tuesday’s Champions League return at Old Trafford as their biggest game this season. They need at least one goal after the 1-1 first-leg draw at the Bernabeu. With Real trailing Barcelona by 16 points in La Liga, Ronaldo is set to start on the bench this afternoon, though he may get a second-half run-out. Real travel to Manchester buzzing after beating Barca 3-1 in the midweek Copa Del Rey semi-final at the Nou Camp. WHAT THE PAPERS SAY : Ronny's double warning Ronaldo fires twin warning to United Cristiano Ronaldo sent a chilling Champions League warning to ManchesterUnited. The Real superstar’s Nou Camp double sunk bitter rivals Barca in front of Sir Alex Ferguson and his No 2 Mike Phelan. And it earned under-fire Real boss Jose Mourinho a Spanish Cup final spot. Real and Ronaldo head to Old Trafford next week with their Champions League last-16 second-leg tie poised at 1-1. And former Red Devils favourite Ronaldo, who was targeted by a home supporter’s laser pen, said: “This win gives us enormous confidence for the game against Manchester United. It was a great game and we played brilliantly. From the first to the last minute we were very serious, with a great attitude. We played better than Barcelona, to scorethree goals at the Nou Camp is extremely complicated.”

Well, well, well. It looks as though the succession question for the hottest job in football may have been answered, and it's not pleasing news for Jose Mourinho. As revealed a few weeks ago by ESPN and others, a senior delegation from Old Trafford went to meet Pep Guardiola in New York, where he is currently enjoying a sabbatical, with the message that the job is effectively his to refuse. - Sir Alex defends Mourinho This is quite a turnaround from the narrative of recent years, which has seen Mourinho as the frontrunner to take over for Sir Alex Ferguson. Their chumminess has been notable, seen most recently in the ITV documentary, "Mourinho", where the Scot steadfastly refused to criticise some of the Real Madrid manager's worst excesses. There would be an unparalleled level of enmity between Mourinho and Guardiola were the Former Barcelona boss to beat him to the throne left vacant by Ferguson. Guardiola, after all, has already beaten him to one plumb position, taking charge at the Nou Camp even after ...
“I have walked out at the Nou Camp with almost 100,000 Catalans whistling at me, played in front of 90,000 fans at Wembley and faced up to the abuse 75,000 supporters inside Old Trafford can muster. Anfield has a capacity of half of some of those venues, but its power remains untouchable.” — Steven Gerrard, ‘My Liverpool Story’
Stumbled on dis nd thought 2share it. Lionel Messi admits he would like Barcelona to sign Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, despite his bad-boy antics on Friday. The Argentina international rates Rooney among the best players in the world and feels he would be an instant hit at the Nou Camp. He is pessimistic regarding Barca’s chances of luring the England striker away from Old Trafford, but knows you can never rule anything out. Messi believes Rooney would be successful at any club on the planet, with his passion for the game setting him apart from most of his contemporaries. “It would be a dream to play with Rooney if Manchester United ever came to the point where they needed to sell him,” Messi said in the Daily Star Sunday. “I would personally go to the Barcelona president and ask that he be signed myself. There are always a handful of players in the world at any one time who can go down in the footballing history books. At the moment, there are maybe (Cristiano) Ronaldo, Rooney, Xavi an ...
I'll put it this way, if I won the EuroMillions I'd buy a corporate box at the Nou Camp rather than Old Trafford!

1. LEGENDARY keeper Peter Schmeichel is returning to Manchester United. The Great Dane is to take up a new role at Old Trafford — most likely as an ambassador for the Red Devils. I miss Utd –Ronaldo April 24, 2012 | Filed under: Sports | Posted by: admin Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo admits he misses life at Manchester United. The Portuguese forward became the world’s most expensive player when he left Old Trafford to move to the Bernabeu in an £80million switch three years ago. Since then, Ronaldo has emerged as one of Real’s greatest-ever players, scoring a jaw-dropping 140 goals in 138 matches. His latest strike was the winning goal in Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona at the Nou Camp which sent Jose Mourinho’s men seven points clear at the top of La Liga. But despite his success in Spain, Ronaldo claims he still has fond memories of the time he spent in the North West under Alex Ferguson. The 27-year-old said: “I speak with Sir Alex sometimes and of course I miss Manchester. “It felt like I left a family back there because I spent six years with all those guys and I still have a very good relationship with Ferguson and the rest of the ...
