My third time lusting after that airbrushed Oksana Baiul jean vest.
I woke up and the first thing that came into my head was the voice of Matt Vasgersian saying "Oksana Baiul"
This is the most ridiculous question I've ever asked but did Matt Vasgersian ever make a quip about Oksana Baiul in an MLB the Show game?
John McEnroe, Richard Sherman Oksana Baiul and any footballer that does a good end zone dance
I got you but Kerrigan and not Oksana Baiul? There was some great skaters in that era
Sometimes I wonder what Oksana Baiul, Nancy Kerrigan, and Tonya Harding are up to.

Man o man! I dont even know where to start!! Mr. G was someone who truly cared about each and every one of his students, he didnt care if you were a troubled student, a popular student or someone who hated art, he cared about you equally! I have so many stories of Sajo that I honestly dont know where to start! He was there for me when a group of girl bullied me all through 7th grade, I spent many lunch hours in his room while he painted birdhouses and (does anyone remember this) licked his paint brushes to smooth the hairs so he could get just the perfect line :) I remember he would always sing this crazy little song "oksana baiul, oksana baiul, oksana baiul your so cruel"... sadly enough I still sing it! In his class room was the first time I ever heard Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin!! But most importantly are the memories I shared outside of the classroom with this man. Sam and my dad were such good friends, and they instilled life lessons in me that I will never forget! Sam taught me how to properly hoo . ...

"Sweet dreams about Oksana Baiul."                                            - Kimberly Windham Reid, Summer 1994 To my cousin who knew and my old Russian-American school mates and friends. I remember this dream from September or October of 1994 during the Autumn, I dreamed that I was at Maury High School; I was at my homeroom, 218, which was my German teacher Frau Rosie Martin. After homeroom ended, I went on to my next class as i'm still on the 2nd floor. I stopped at the French classroom because inside I saw a familiar face as I turned around and I walked from my friends, inside the classroom I saw sitting next to the French teacher Yvelette Pickett... Oksana Baiul. It's Oksana Baiul. She's here and she was in her pink uniform and tan skates, crying like in the Lillehammer Games. I can now finally talk to her, but Pickett was like "Leave". I went to the 4th floor but I was smitten as Richard Duquette pulled me on to the 4th floor to Joann Bashay's class, Social Studies, I believe ...
It was 20 years ago that figure skating took a turn for the scandalous, when Olympic skater Tonya Harding stood accused of conspiring to have rival skater Nancy Kerrigan whacked in the kneecap. Now, all these years later, Logo brings you Ice Queens, a Vine-based re-telling of the Kerrigan-Harding scandal, starring RuPaul’s Drag Race favorites Willam Belli (as Tonya) and Morgan McMichaels (as Nancy)—plus Delta Work as an FBI agent, Yara Sofia as Oksana Baiul, Vivienne Pinay as a reporter, Colby Melvin as Jeff Gillooly and Christopher Adames as Shane Stant, the man who actually committed the dastardly deed. The whole thing is two-minutes long, so don’t pretend like you don’t have the time. That time Nancy Kerrigan was all, "Come on. So she's gonna go out and cry again. What's the difference?" Re: Oksana Baiul.
Paul Wylie and Nancy Kerrigan's coaches come off really bad in that 30 for 30 when sounding bitter about Oksana Baiul
Just watched Nancy Kerrigan on the Olympics closing show. I have a new sense of respect for Nancy Kerrigan...she has really let all of it with Tonya go. Good for her. I do wonder about the other skaters of that era...Oksana Baiul, Chen Lu, Surya Bonaly and the ice queen herself Katarina Witt!
here's my The Olympic Games comment: I still dont think anything compares to the era (and superstardom) of Oksana Baiul, Nancy Kerrigan, Brian Boitano, Scott Hamilton, Kristi Yamaguchi and such.
Is it me, or has the quality of women's ice skating gone down considerably the past 20 - 30 years? I watched 9 skater's last night at the Olympics and 5 of them, count them, 5 of them fell down. (Two of them fell twice) I can't recall seeing so many falls in the Olympics before. Two of three Americans fell, including Gracie Gold. Has the bar been lowered? It also seems like today's skater's don't get the kind of lift for their jumps like they used to. I don't expect everyone to be like Dorothy Hamil, or Peggy Fleming, but it just seems to me that there is too many falls and stumbles for today's women ice skaters. Does anyone else see this too? My all time favorites are Tara Lipinski, Katarina Witt, and the great Oksana Baiul.
I wasn't going to watch any of the Olympics but I caved for the ice dancing. It is weird to think that the Lillehammer Olympics were TWENTY years ago. Drama between Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan (although Oksana Baiul won the gold after years ot true struggle). The "Russians" still dominated ice skating/dancing then. Bonnie Blair in speed Kating. Torvill and Dean came back ten years after their Bolero triumph at Sarajevo. And Sarajevo itself had been significantly damaged since being in the spotlight in 1984. Anything else? I don't remember - gotta Google.
Tim McCarver is interviewing Oksana Baiul. Looks like Minnie Driver with blond hair. Very pretty.
Incredible figure skater for Russia. Yulia Lipnitskaya, only 15 years old, is absolutely amazing! Moments of Michelle Kwan and Oksana Baiul but all brilliance! Wow!!!
I miss Kristy Yamaguchi, Oksana Baiul, Surya Bonali, Tara Lipinski, Ekaterina Witt and Nancy Kerrigan right now. Not that these girls are bad, just a little nostalgia.
Watching figure skating, and of course I don't recognize any of these folks. I remember skaters such as Scott Hamilton, Kristi Yamaguchi, Nancy Kerrigan, Michelle Kwan, and Oksana Baiul. The list goes on and on and it makes me feel old lol.

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the story that shocked the world of skating where Tonya Harding's ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly, and her bodyguard, Shawn Eckhardt hired Shane Stant to break Kerrigan's right leg so that she would be unable to skate. Stant followed her to Detroit after failing to find her at her training rink in Massachusetts, and struck her on the thigh a few inches above the knee with an ASP baton. Her leg was only bruised, not broken, but the injury forced her to withdraw from the national championship. Harding won that event, and they were both selected for the 1994 Olympic team. Harding finished eighth in Lillehammer, while Kerrigan, by then fully recovered from the injury, won the silver medal behind Oksana Baiul. On June 30, 1994, after conducting its own investigation of the attack, the USFSA stripped her of her 1994 U.S. Championships title and banned her for life from participating in USFSA-run events as either a skater or a coach. The USFSA concluded that she knew about the a ...
Still waiting for Weird to cover the Gin Blossoms with "Oksana Baiul".
THE WHACK HEARD AROUND THE WORLD! It is the 20th Anniversary of the Tanya Harding & Nancy Kerrigan Drama, one of the most bizarre scandals in the history of figure skating -- and even though it was really horrific for Nancy (Nancy had to spend the next month rehabilitating her knee and then missed that 1994 Olympic gold medal by a tenth of a point to Oksana Baiul), it did put figure skating in the public eye. Currently, interest in competitive figure skating has been in a SLUMP, especially in the US -- ratings and interest have sunk so low that last year's world championships were not even televised live on an easily accessible US network. I hate to say it, but the sport has to EVOLVE somehow to create interest, and between the overly complicated, difficult to understand IJS system, the lack of television coverage, lack of strategic promotion by the USFS, no skating stars, the expensive cost of tickets ($200 bucks to the 2014 US Nationals) -- Figure Skating -- just like School Figures -- may some day soo ...
THIS DATE IN HISTORY: On January 6, 1994, "Why me???" Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan was attacked outside an ice rink and beaten behind the knee two days before the olympic trials were set to begin. As the story unfolded it was discovered that the attack was orchestrated by Jeff Gillooly (enter joke here) the ex-husband of Kerrigan's chief rival, Tonya Harding. Kerrigan recovered in time for the olympics and skated to a silver medal behind Ukrainian skater Oksana Baiul, (editor's comment, Kerrigan's long program was better and she should have won) who later went on to get pulled over for a DUI. She was underage at the time. I guess the take home message here is don't be an olympic level figure skater.
Things I miss about my childhood: watching Oksana Baiul skate.
Take a drink; And you'll sink To a state of pure inebriation You'll be tanked; Like the whole Irish nation! When you drink enough of my beer; You will find this magic rule Make your every joke a jewel; You'll drive drunker than Oksana Baiul! Go on buds, drink my suds; Till you've reached that pure inebriation Though the beer may be free, you're just renting it from me

In honor of the Olympics, I have updated my profile picture to the one taken at Lake Placid. My bobsled team took silver. I was fortunate to receive a top award trip to Lake Placid for the "IBM Olympics". We were trained by past Olympians, including Oksana Baiul, in most of the Winter Olympic sports and then competed against felllow IBMers. My favorite event was the single-person luge, which I won gold! :-)
