A High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, has ruled that Chief Adebayo Dayo is the authentic chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. But the court verdict has not paved the way for reconciliation among the three factions locked in supremacy battle in the state. Dayo, the embattled chairman, has achieved victory, but he is still incapacitated because his group cannot do without the two factions waging war against his leadership. Since the court ruling, efforts to forge unity have collapsed. The national leadership of the party is concerned. Many party leaders expect former national leader, Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo, to act as a father and broker peace. But the ex-resident is the pillar of support for one of the factions. Early in the year, the leadership crisis rocking the chapter escalated as policemen sealed off its state secretariat. Dayo, an engineer, and other members of the State Executive Committee, were denied access to the office. They cried foul, saying that certain ...

Former governor of the State of Osun, Mr. Olagunsoye Oyinlola, is currently facing new crisis as National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following the decision of the Ogun State Executive Committee of the party, asking an Abuja Federal High Court to order his removal from office. In the suit filed by the chairman of the Ogun State Chapter of the party, Mr. Adebayo Dayo and Secretary, Alhaji Semiu Sodipo, they challenged the retention of Oyinlola as a national officer in the party. Mr. Daniel made this statement at the 50th birthday anniversary of Sina Kawonise, the former commissioner of information and strategy during his administration held at conference hotel, Ijebu- Ode, Ogun State. "The question is this, why was Jesus christ crucified despite his good work, why was Obafemi Awolowo persecuted, why was Abraham Adesanya persecuted. It was only because they dare to correct the wrong in the society". Mr. Daniel held that he has been falsely accused of being a ritualist, a murderer and a fraudster in order to crucify him. A HOUSE BUILT ON A SAND WILL NOT STAND BEING MY REACTION TOTHE SO-CALLED CONTEMPT SENTENCE DELIVERED BY JUSTICE C. E.ARCHIBONG, OF THE Federal High Court, LAGOS TODAY. My attention has just been drawn to a “judgement” of Hon. Justice Archibong of the Federal High Court Lagos in a case involving the Omo-Ilu faction of PDP in Ogun State, PDP National body and the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC). The judge, has “sentenced” the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of OgunPDP, Chief Ireti Oniyide, myself and the other member of the committee, Hon. Fasiu Bakene, to “six months imprisonment for contempt”! My reaction is as follows: 1. I have instructed my lawyers to challenge this scandalous judgement, which I believe; like a house erected on a sand, cannot stand.2. This obvious abuse of judicial powerswill not go unremedied, as I have instructed my Counsel to prepare to take on Justice Archibong personally as in “convicting” me without being served, without a hearing, in abse ...
