MADNESS! Is Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State with ill-senses? How could he oppress and humiliate a common man on the street by suing him for fair criticism made regarding his administrative activity, when he swore to the letter of the Constitution to uphold the freedom and protection of the common man? Moreover, if the statement is considered seditious, it must be the type that will disrupt public peace or overthrow a constitutional constituted government, but the statement was made to draw attention to the defects or errors in the government (which is a defence against sedition, if the charge was sedition); and it wasn't meant to ridicule or injure reputation, for it to be considered libelous. Everyone is guaranteed fundamental right of freedom of exprsession (under section 39(1) of the 1999 Constitution). Thus, Amosun has no case! Anyway, let Amosun's counsel enjoy his money while it last. If the lawyer of the accused is smart, once judgement is given in favour of the defendant, is to commence immedia ...
Our condition for peace with Amosun – Kaka …Says sending people to beg Osoba is hypocritical By: Bashir Adefaka on September 02, 2014 || Vanguard Newspaper Lagos—Former Deputy Governor of Ogun State and a serving Senator, Alhaji Olugbenga Kaka, has given conditions for peace to reign in the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC. According to him, the solution to the crisis in the party lies in the hands of Governor Ibikunle Amosun. Kaka told senior editors during a courtesy visit to the Lagos corporate head office of the Vanguard newspapers, yesterday that peace would return to Ogun APC if the governor did the needful rather than sending emissaries to beg former governor Olusegun Osoba. Senator Kaka said the conditions for peace included: re-organising the party structure, ensuring all-inclusive government, ensuring that each of the 20 local councils of the state has a commissioner instead of the current scenario where some councils have three and four commissioners while some co ...

How Amosun plans to turn 7,000 Ogun University students to drop-outs The governor of Ogun State promised to reduce the tuition fees of the school in his election campaign. The current face-off between the students of the state-owned Olabisi Onabanjo University and the Ibikunle Amosun led Ogun State Government over the payment of the back-log of school fees owed by the students and the policy by the government that only those who have paid their fees up to date will be eligible to write the harmattan semester examination of the 2012/2013 academic session is one that has been overshadowed by the propaganda of the state, hence the need to put the records straight. The institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Saburi Adesanya, in reaction to the protest by the students over the crisis on Monday, 20th May, 2013 had said that the regularization was in line with the Federal Government’s directive through the National Universities Commission, NUC, requesting all universities to provide a comprehensive students ...
Why is it difficult to resolve the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) crisis before you ordered the closure of the school? "In a more decent environment, my predecessor would not be in a state to be walking around freely, grandstanding and spreading false information to cover up the obvious lack of planning manifest in the administration he headed. In one fell swoop, he created four tertiary institutions and raised the number of tertiary institutions owned by Ogun State Government to 10. Even Lagos with all the money has just five. He then funded them for two months and stopped and then accumulated debts of unpaid salary and subventions. We came in and inherited all manners of debt. In Olabisi Onabanjo University alone, he left a debt of N1.8bn. For eight years, the OOU couldn’t hold any convocation because they couldn’t process results of students. We have to clear all the backlog of unpaid salary and allowances. We held convocation for over 40,000 graduates in one fell swoop. Every government around ...

The below is from a friend: Fela Rotimi. VETTING A SUCCESSOR. When you sit-in on an interview panel in the organized private sector, an impressively presented CV tells half the narrative of a job applicant. It's only when you engage with a candidate that part of the entire story-line starts to build-up and make sense. To get a true perspective, you certainly need to prise answers by asking leading questions, dream-up scenarios, demand for comments, afford applicant privilege of a three-minute expose and ask questions meant to unsettle a candidate. A common refrain by gubernatorial aspirants in all parties is an ability to deliver. But can they all deliver ? What are those factors that are likely to tilt perception and help in deciding a peoples' choice. As we expect an elected Governor to know something about everything and everything about something; it would be interesting to test the state of awareness *** alertness of aspirants. What are the real issues at-play in Ogun State ? What are their prioritie ...

He hails from Imeko-Afon Local Government Area in the Ogun West Senatorial District. He contested the 2011 governorship on the platform of PPN and emerged third in the contest, losing to Amosun. He was originally the PDP governorship candidate before an order of Justice Abdul Kafarati of an Abuja Federal High Court altered the ticket in favour of Olurin. Undeterred, the investment bankerturned politician wants to run for the governorship again; this time around on the platform of LP. He is regarded as Daniel’s loyalist. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka - GNI For Governor, OGUN 2015 PRESS RELEASE 14th August, 2014 Amosun's school fees slash, a deceit, says GNI campaign organization The campaign organisation of Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI) has described the purported reduction of school fees of tertiary institutions in Ogun State by Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led government as another deceit from a drowning government, employing all political gimmicks to seek an undeserved re-election. The reduction is coming barely a week after Lagos State Governor, Raji Fashola bowed to pressure from protesting students of LASU to revert to the old school fees regime of N25,000. A press release signed by the Director, Media and Publicity of the campaign organisation Mr Ifekayode Akinbode noted that the reduction was not just a deceit which cannot change the dwindling fortunes of the clueless government but a panicky measure that exposed the shallowness of Amosun's administration. The campaign organisation of the foremost Labour Party (LP) aspirant observ ...
Ogun Labour Party to withdraw suit against Daniel Given the intervention by the national chairman, Labour Party, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu and a national leader of the party and governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, the suit against a former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel by a factional state executive of the party led by Mr. Bode Simeon, would be withdrawn anytime from now. A pointer to this was contained in a statement jointly signed by the state Secretary, Mr. Sunday Oginni and state financial secretary,Mr. Abayomi Arabambi, and the national leadership of the party. The party had been enmeshed in leadership crisis between Daniel and the Mr. Olabode Simeon-led executive, which polarised the party into two factions in the state. In the statement, the party said it has commenced a move to discontinue with the suit filed against Daniel challenging his authority in the party before a Federal High Court, Ikeja, Lagos. The statement read in part: “In a bid to end the crisis, Ondo State Govern ...
The ultimatum by the Northern Elders Forum given to President Goodluck Jonathan to rescue alive the abducted Chibok schoolgirls in order for him, the President, to have their support in 2015 was uncanny, unwarranted and gratuitous. The Boko Haram insurgency is an impracticable ideology emanated from an Islamic extremism that stands against western system of education amongst other impossible or unattainable demands. It is unfortunate that the Northern elders and leaders did nothing about the nomadic culture that would abdicate or evade their parental and social responsibilities to their children and wards, thereby turning Almajiris, street beggars and street urchins. To defeat and root out Boko Haram, every Nigerian, including Northern elders and leaders must support, encourage and pray for the President Goodluck Jonathan and security operatives to succeed in this hard task to rescue the abducted girls alive and unmask those behind Boko Haram. REDUCTION OF FEES IN OGUN: PROTESTING STUDENTS REJECT IMPLEMENTATION DATE Posted by Publication Director in EDUCATION, NEWS, POLITICS on August 14, 2014 11:58 pm / no comments Pandemonium broke out today in the city of Abeokuta as students from various tertiary institutions in Ogun State under the umbrella of National Association of Nigerian Student (NANS) Joint Campus Committee, JCC, Ogun State chapter took to the streets in protest to condemn the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration for “playing pranks and lying to the public on the reduction of fees in their schools.” It would be recalled the government had earlier this week announced a reduction of about 61 percent in the school fees of all state-owned higher schools of learning and presentation of 13 new buses to them as well as Federal Government-owned tertiary institutions in the state. The protesting students, led by Olasunkanmi Ahmed the Ogun Chapter Chairman of the JCC, NANS however made it known to NigerianEcho that the governor was e ...

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, had a secret meeting with the former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, at his Hilltop home, Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State on Tuesday.Tambuwal who arrived the former president’s residence around 5.30pm left around 6.18pm.Our correspondent gathered that the visit might not be unconnected with the speaker’s ambition in 2015.It is being rumoured that he was nurturing a presidential ambition. However, his media aide, Mr. Imam Imam, said Tambuwal and Obasanjo only rubbed minds on the state of the nation, and how to move it forward. He said, “You know Baba is a father to all in the country. The visit was a consultation. “It is about rubbing minds on how to move the country forward, and make Nigeria better.”Asked whether the visit was in connection with Tambuwal’s alleged presidential ambition in 2015, Imam said he could not confirm that because it was a closed door meeting between Tambuwal and Obasanjo. He said, “I could not say ...
BEING THE PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS (NANS OGUN JCC) ON TUESDAY 12/08/2014 @ EXACTLY 12:00PM FROM THE DESK OF THE PULIC RELATION OFFICER. Combatants greeting to all Nigerian students of Ogun State. Nemesis in life is a twin sister to Genesis, evil that men do wont only lives after them but will also dwells in the corridor of their siblings and family. It call for a sober reflection when the rights and privilege of Nigeria students is being Victimised, oppressed,by those at the helms of affairs just because of there personal interest and political agenda for 2015,they Fractinalise NANS using there errand boy called Okiki, using him to impersonate NANS. Today we record another bad historical antecedents in ogun state 12th of August 2014. Free education in Ogun: The untold story Written by Soyombo Opeyemi “I used to pay school fees and buy textbooks for all my children from the primary school to tertiary level. When Amosun came and talked about free education, I was a bit sceptical. But when my daughters in the primary and secondary schools did not pay school fees throughout the last session (2011/12) and returned home with writing materials and textbooks, I was so happy. I have also not paid school fees for my boy in the nursery school in the last one year. Now, I only pay for my daughter in Ojere (MAPOLY). I am very grateful for this financial relief by the Amosun administration.” That was the voice of a chauffeur at the workshop of an auto-mechanic in the fall of 2012. I was only drawn into the chit-chat when the man mentioned nursery school. I thought there was a mix-up somewhere. Was there a charity organisation running free nursery school? Up till that time, I must confess, I did not know that many government’s primary schools ...

Wakaabout In Ogun Gorvernor Ibikunle Amosu of Ogun state has done the unthinkable! He has reduced tuition fees across all the state owmed tertiary institutions in the state. Some he reduced by 61%, while some will be paying as low as 29,700. He has also removed indigene and nonindigene dichotomy. So all students in each level and course will pay the same amount. For details of the new tuition fees, check the website of each school. Thank you, governor IbiFUllHOUSE (Ibikunle).
Once beaten twice shy! OOUites it is time to rise up and take your destinies into your own hands, because everything that the state government has done so far indicates their non-readiness and insincerity towards the reduction of our school fees. Ask yourselves, is it the same man that trekked the length and breadth of Ogun state in 2011 to promise the drastic reduction of the school fees of all tertiary institution within the state and has not done so in 3years, 2months, 2weeks, and over 20hrs since he has been sworn in as the state governor that you will believe? Now that he has come with another promise that is to be effected after the next election. This government does not have the credibility or history of a promise keeper and his latest promise is one of the highest insult and assault of our intelligence as students of a tertiary institution and if we allow ourselves to be fooled a second time, then we may never be wise again. Don’t forget that he has promise an SUG bus to all tertiary institutio ...

He said this at Obas complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta during the award ceremony for teachers and pupils who distinguished themselves in the 2013 President’s Teacher and Schools Excellence Award, held in Abuja. He said, “No fewer than 49,000 applications have so far been received by the state government. Of the applicants, there were some Ph.D holders and over 600 Master’s degree holders.” In June this year, Amosun had announced plan by his administration to recruit 3,000 environmental marshals to ensure healthy environment. Pastor Enoch Adeboye has refused to cancel RCCG's 62nd annual convention against the directive of ogun state commissioner of health! The flimsy accuse is "we have our preparations in its advanced stage. So we can't cancel it!" Pastors are becoming more powerful than the Nigerian government and this shows a crazed flaunt of authority which puts the nigeria public in harms way. Pastor G.O is fully aware that Lagos has more than 25% of its population being RCCG members and there is a high probability that an Ebola carrier will attend this very convention! Convention is attended by all RCCG members from all the 36 states of the federation! Why should our government not arrest Adeboye for endangering the public?
Reasons Why WAEC Withheld 2014 Results I have come across several hundreds of comments and forum posts where candidates who sat for the just concluded 2014 waec examination are asking why some of their results were withheld. According to the official board, which is the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has clarified that the withheld WAEC 2014 results was due to examination malpractices in centres, contrary to speculations that it does so to witch-hunt candidates who performs excellently in their exams. This information was made known by the Zonal Coordinator of WAEC in charge of Lagos State and Ogun state, Mrs. C.O. Why PDP lost –Daniel A former governor of Ogun State, Mr. Gbenga Daniel, has said the Peoples Democratic Party lost the governorship election to the All Progressives Congress on Saturday because the party failed to reconcile aggrieved members, causing them to defect to other parties. Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the APC defeated the PDP candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore by over 100,000 votes Daniel described the outcome of the election as a ‘political tsunami.’ According to Daniel, the lesson of the election is that peoples’ power is the supreme power and “I have no doubt in my mind that the people of this federal constituency will do what they have to do to ensure that the Labour Party coasts away to victory.” He also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for creating the atmosphere which engendered free and fair election in the country. Impeachment frenzy: Lawmakers break loose: (Owerri), Tony John (Port Harcourt), Moshood Adebayo (Abeokuta), Tony Osauzo (Benin), Jeff Amaechi Agbodo (Abakiliki) Following the successful impeachment of Navy Rear Admiral Murtala Nyako (retd) as Adamawa State governor recently by the State House of Assembly and the progress made towards impeaching the Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, the alarm bell may have sounded across the country. Also the hammer is set to fall on the Enugu State Deputy Governor, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, whose impeachment process is fast drawing to a close. Particularly hit by the new development are state governors, who have had in the last fortnight embarked on massive reviews of their relationships with their legislatures, the judiciaries and in some cases the Presidency. There is a groundswell of speculations that the presidency is the unseen hand behind the gale, which is believed to be a growing tradition before any general elections. Recall the impeachments that ...
Oyinlola: I’ll quit PDP: Former National Secretary of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Olagunsoye Oyinlola has threatened to dump the party. The former governor, who made this known in a letter to President Goodluck Jonathan, hinged his decision on what he described as the brazen refusal by the party to obey a Court of Appeal ruling which order his re-instatement as the national secretary of the party. PDP, acting on a Federal High Court ruling of January 11, 2013 had removed Oyinlola as its national secretary. The former governor, however, challenged his removal at the Court of Appeal and got a reprieve as the appellate court quashed the judgment, which pronounced his removal and ordered that the former governor be reinstated. Oyinlola who noted that although the appellate court’s verdict is currently being challenged by a state chapter of party at the Supreme Court , expressed surprise at the failure of the party to obey the ruling of the appellate court in the same swift manner it obeyed t ...

OAU Student Graduates after 13 Years of Admission Here is the story of a student of OAU that graduated thirteen years after he got admission into the University. Akinola Saburi is a former SUG president of Obafemo Awolowo University and his involvement in campus activism kept him longer than he expected. Read the full details of this news as reported by National Mirror: Akinola Saburi was 19 years old when he gained admission into Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State to study a five-year course. But something happened along the line that his stay on campus was prolonged with additional eight years. When Akinola Saburi was admitted by Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife in 2000, he had no feeling that he would not graduate on a record time. His course of study, Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology, in any Nigerian university is for five years. Though, extension could occur on academic grounds when students have deficiency in one course or another or the school is shut due to st ...

How will a governor use road expansion project as a yardstick to seek for re-election after wasting more than 3 years in power? Ours is a good example in Ogun state. As it stands, our governor doesn't have any other laudable project(s) which we can all point to as major achievements across various critical sectors of our local economy. It is indeed a sheer waste of time and resource. We made a mistake by voting for him in 2011...we can not afford to repeat such mistake again.
Cardinal John Onaiyekan Cautions President Jonathan Overy Calling Opposition & Critics Boko Haram. According to The Nation, while speaking about the political insinuations surrounding the insurgency issue in the country, the cleric was quoted saying as he spoke on Rockcity 101.9 FM Abeokuta, Ogun State: "The issue of the politicisation is very serious and dangerous, where the party in government sees anybody who doesn’t agree with them as the Boko Haramist that are out to destroy the nation. What this means is that, if you do not agree with me, or if you are not in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), you don’t love Nigeria…" Onaiyekan stated that such attitude would not help to advance Nigeria and handle its current challenges. He claimed that disagreements between the parties don’t mean lack of love for the country. He also criticized the opposition over the same issue saying they consider themselves "the only ones who love Nigeria". The cleric also lamented about Goodluck Jonathan’s informatio ...
Cdhr Oou wrote ; UPDATE ON OOU SCHOOL FEES REDUCTION STRUGGLE At the CDHR meeting held today in PS, CDHR's position on the call for reduction is that as a first step towards reassuring OOUites and sending a message of seriousness to the university management and the Ogun State Government, the OOU Students Union must as a matter of urgency rescind its earlier instruction that students should pay the outrageous fee, the Union must announce that students should cease paying the fees until the reduction issue has been resolved. We are convinced that asking students to pay the fees while consultations are still ongoing is hypocritical on the part of the Student Union, and is interpreted to majority of the students as foot- dragging and reluctance to fight for the reduction of the fees. We call on the Union to take other steps while consulting in order to send a clear message to the concerned bodies that we mean business. Lecture boycotts and the convening of a General Assembly must be seriously considered now. ...

Soyinka was born on 13 July 1934 at Abeokuta, near Ibadan in western Nigeria. Early life and education A descendant of a Remo family of Isara-Remo, Soyinka was born the second of six children, in the city of Abẹokuta, Ogun State in Nigeria, at that time a British dominion. His father, Samuel Ayodele Soyinka (whom he called S.A. or "Essay"), was an Anglican minister and the headmaster of St. Peters School in Abẹokuta. Soyinka's mother, Grace Eniola Soyinka (whom he dubbed the "Wild Christian"), owned a shop in the nearby market. She was a political activist within the women's movement in the local community. Update: ‘Why I killed my father at RCCG camp’ Twenty-one years old Tolani, Ajayi, has given an insight into why he killed his father, Charles Ajani (SAN), stabbing him repeatedly with a kitchen knife and also cutting the man's throat with machete. The 300 level students of Department of History and International Relations of the Redeemer University (RUN) Ogun State, said he was driven by a fit of anger to slaughter his father last Thursday inside the Redemption Camp along Lagos – Ibadan Expressway. His father's remains were recovered in a nearby bush at Canaan land Street within the RCCG Camp, in a box, where Tolani dumped them after he had hacked the man to death. But on Tuesday at Eleweran, the Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command, the lad who admitted that he was into drugs at a time, said substance played no part in the lethal attack, and begged his mother and siblings to forgive him for what he did. Narrating how the incident happened to reporters, Tolani said it has daw ...

On this day 7th July, 1998 Chief MKO Abiola died. What lesson do we all learn from His livelihood of an archetypal Aare Ona Kakanfo? * Early life Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola was born in Abeokuta, Ogun State.[1] His name, Kashimawo, means "Let us wait and see".[2] Moshood Abiola was his father's twenty-third child but the first of his father's children to survive infancy, hence the name 'Kashimawo'. It was not until he was 15 years old that he was properly named Moshood, by his parents. MKO showed entrepreneurial talents at a very young age, at the age of nine he started his first business selling firewood. He would wake up at dawn to go to the forest and gather firewood, which he would then cart back to town and sell before going to school, in order to support his old father and his siblings. He later founded a band at age fifteen where he would perform at various ceremonies in exchange for food. He eventually became famous enough to start demanding payment for his performances and used the money to ...

Amosun now amending his ways due to the fear of losing on the upcoming election. He is paying salaries areas, promoting civil servants, etc the one that pain me is the money (billions) he gave all the appointee of Ogun state from 2007-.(Is this bribe or something?) I want him to go 4 d second term provided he will do something about the state of Tertiary education in the state, if not he will be embarrassed out of office. We must come out to say the truth, we student of Ogun state are not happy with him. Governance is primarily about improving the lives of the citizens. No doubt that the Ogun State Governor is really making frantic and concerted efforts at improving the environmental aspect of living standard by constructing roads and bridges in the state. Many owners whose houses have been demolished to pave way for good road network are expectantly waiting to receive compensation claims almost a year after their buildings have been demolished along Sango - Agbado- Akute- Ojodu Road. Really, the affected owners are keeping quiet, as though they have nothing to do, they are bitter about their plight, hoping that sooner or later, the present regime in Ogun State will come to an end and they will have the opportunity to exercise their right to elect another Governor. As a person who is close to some of the owners who have been meeting regularly to map out strategies as to how they can achieve their aim and have their compensation claims received from the next Governor. I advise that every effort should be m ...

"The same scenario is currently playing out in Ogun State, where the PDP and Labour Party are waxing stronger by the day despite the projects being done by the Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. Public opinion among the elites favour the APC and Amosun in many centres. But it is a different story among the lower classes, who constitute at least 70% of the voting population. The urge to control the APC structure in Ogun State has divided the party and currently giving undue advantage to the opposition, who appear set to rid Oke Mosan of Amosun come 2015". Extract from Wale Adedayo's write-up "Fayose’s victory, another lesson for APC leaders"
THE EXCLUSION OF OGU (EGUN) PEOPLE FROM THE LAGOS AND OGUN NATIONAL CONFERENCE DELEGATES' LIST The continuous marginalization of the Ogu (Egun) people of South-West Nigeria is common knowledge. The late sage and Premier of the then Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo has remained the reference point in leadership not only because of his selflessness and capability, but primarily because of his inclusiveness. For example, it was Chief Awolowo who appointed the Aholu, Claudius Dosa Akran from Badagry as the Minister for Economic Planning and Community Development (1958 – 1964) in the then regional government. At the same time, Chief D. K Aihonsu (from Ipokia, present day Ogun State) was a member of the Regional House of Representatives through the support of Chief Awolowo. Since the demise of this sage (and the leadership style he represented), there have been spirited efforts to present the South-West Nigeria as a mono-ethnic region. In this vain, political representation (other than local elective pos ...
FULL TEXT OF CHIEF TOM IKIMI'S STATEMENT ON THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC) CONVENTION OF 13TH JUNE 2014. PL READ CAREFULLY: 1. On 1st of May 2014, I wrote to the then APC National Interim Executive Council Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande reporting to him the overwhelming unfavorable report I had received from across the Country on the status of our Party. I informed him that I had spoken to Party members and leaders across the country and that the feeling was unanimous regarding the downward trend of things. I emphasized that the latest problem arose from the Congresses, which were very poorly managed nationwide and suggested to him that the National Interim Executive Council meeting be immediately convened to address the problem. My letter was dispatched to him by email and copied to about twenty-five key leaders across the country. There was a delay in convening the IEC meeting that I requested and during the period of delay my letter got leaked to the press by someone from Ogun State. It was this alar ...

OGUN STATE IS NATURALLY ENDOWED NOT CREATION OF ANY INDIVIDUALS Ogun State since creation, had been investment haven of local and foreign investors because of its natural endowment with mineral resources and priviledged location as Gateway to Nigeria and Nations Sea and land ports. Those Companies in Agbara, Ota, Ewekoro, Sagamu and lately Ibese came into business because of these natural factors and not because anybody in Government created them by their own standard. One can give kudos to Heads of Government who deliberately created the industrial Estates in Ikeja, Ilupeju,Ibadan, Ogba and policies on free trade zones etc as these are deliberate creations and materialisation of their iventive genius which gave rise to idustrial growth of the States. This is the kind of creation any administration can lay claim to with great attestations. Counting investments by companies in a State like Ogun State as part of Government achievement need be verified and put in perspective. If a company that needs to locat ...
Tinubu, Oyegun Condemn Military Action Against Governors * * The National Leader of All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu and the Chairman of the Party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun have accused the Federal Government of allegedly using the security agencies to suppress innocent Nigerians. The APC leaders who spoke in Ado-Ekiti yesterday described the arrest of the Governor of Rivers State, Hon Rotimi Amaechi and the barring of Edo state Governor Adams Oshiomhole from coming to the APC rally in Ado Ekiti, as a flagrant abuse of power . The Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Rocha Okorocha, Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun and a chieftain of the party, Audu Ogbeh , urged Nigerians to resist the PDP’s efforts at plunging the country into anarchy. When contacted on phone, the Public Relations Officer of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, Ondo State, Capt Ademola Adegoke who denied the allegation, said his men did not arrest, stop or prevent any of the governors from landing or ente ...
You All Need To Hear This. Until last night when I saw the video of his interview on Channels Television's Sunrise, I never knew the that we have a Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in the person of Bimbo Ashiru. I'm happy to tell you that after our first investors summit, we have received over 500 investors both locally and internationally coming to invest in Ogun State. What we did was to look into their genuity and prune them down to 46. Ogun State APC Charpters, Fellow Patriots, We are using this opportunity to salute our courage and the support to the just concluded Party's National Convention. It was a massive outing as witnessed in the history of Nigeria Politics. The voting was free and fair and the emerged candidates according to the pooling results were the preferred and formidable fellows for the Executive post. Kudos to our respective leaders and Governors, especially Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who go out of his way to encourage the large turn out of Members at the gathering. It looks as if it was only Ogun State people that registered APC if compare the census at the venue (Eagle Square). APC is the Party to be recognized. We have achieved it again and so shall it be permanent in Jesus Name. Thank you for the patience. Hon. Sunday Babatunde Adetola.
Ogun Will Continue to Project Wole Soyinka Image - Amosun Ogun State Government has assured that it would continually support whatever meaningful projects that would project the image of the Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka. Governor Ibikunle Amosun yesterday gave the pledge in Abeokuta, the state capital at a press conference in preparation for the 80th birthday anniversary of the celebrant. Represented by Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa, the governor described the celebrant as a rare breed, who would forever be celebrated. Amosun also expressed delight at Soyinka's records of achievements in academics and emancipation of the black race, stating that, "Although, Soyinka is everybody's product, but we in Ogun State are proud to continue to celebrate him because, he has continually put Ogun State on the world map. "Soyinka has led a turbulent life through struggle for justice, but we thank God for his achievements so far in life and his attainment of the privileged 80 years of ...
OGUN STATE YOUTHS ASK, MUST IT CONTINUE LIKE THIS? In continuation of our series, the Ogun State Youth Association of Nigeria wish to state unequivocally that we are being driven by the overall well being of our fellow youths and the general populace and not by any other motives or politician as being speculated after our last press release. If the government of the day had been responsive to Ogun State people’s demand and genuinely proactive to solving their problems there wouldn’t have been need for any write up in the first instance. We therefore challenged the government to show to the whole world the welfare package they’ve been chunning out to the public that elected them into office. Aside the welfare package we advocate for, it is suffice to note that our executive governor seems to have been running a one man show where we are sure the expert advice of almost all the aides serving in the present cabinet are not being carried out as advice, the sycophants seems to be having the upper hand wi ...

2015 General Election: Ogun State In Perspective By Badero Olusola It is 243 days from today to February 14, 2015 General Election and 347 days to the next Inauguration Day in May 29, 2015. Under this pretext, I will lay bare the expected determinants of what could make Gov. Ibikunle Amosun continue to govern Ogun State beyond 2015 or cease to occupy that office. If you have been a follower of events in the state in the last 3 years, you will agree with me that the followings can't be totally ignored in the race towards the next election in our state. We are currently being ruled by a man known for incompetence and cluelessness. A ruthless sadist and most corrupt governor ever in the long history of this state. A vengeance and hatred inclined administrator. And above it all, a complete dullard in the corridor of power. Governor Ibikunle Amosun came to power with lots of promises, to be different from what we are used to in governance as a people. He promised to improve our infrastructures like schools, h ...

Fares: Angry passengers burn NRC stations, loot offices There was pandemonium at the Nigerian Railway Corporation stations in the Agbado and Itoki areas of Ogun State on Tuesday as some passengers and hoodlums set fire on the offices after vandalising them and carting away some amount of money. PUNCH Metrogathered that the uproar, which began at about 7am when passengers were boarding trains, was over a hike in the fares. Our correspondent learnt that the fare to Oshodi for the economic class shot up from N150 to N230, while the executive class went from N500 to N750. The Vice President, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, had come to Lagos on Monday to inaugurate two new air-conditioned coaches at the Iddo Terminus. The new trains were expected to increase the daily train passengers in the state from 16,000 to 22,000.
Ogun: A tale of two administration Insecurity used to be a major issue in Ogun State. How was your government able to contain the situation? Section 14 subsection 2b of the 1999 Constitution states that “the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.” Amosun has fulfilled this all-important provision one hundred per cent. A woman was recounting the other day how restrictive life was in the state, especially between 2008 and 2011. You dared not remain in your shop till 8p.m. Often by 6pm, most shops in Abeokuta would have closed for the day. The state was awash with gun-toting youths, who commanded shop-owners to surrender their money or life. So many people became penniless as a result of this reign of terror. Some public officials were even alleged to have kept guns in their lockers. The current governor himself escaped death by a hair’s breadth. Others were not that lucky to escape the furry of the machete-wielding men, the then lords of Ogun State. Some indigen ...

Warning Bell: Ogun State Labour Party By Badero Olusola. It is no more a secret that Labour Party is the fastest growing Political Party in Ogun state today. In fact, the ratings of the party in its recent outings has been unprecedented and very encouraging. This can be likened to the open declaration of the likes of Hon. Remmy Hazzan, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, the trio of Chief Sarafa Isola, Sina Kawonise, Gboyega Isiaka (Governorship candidates of the party) and many serving House of Assembly members. The highest boost to the camp of the LP was when the former Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel openly declared for the party at the Party's Secretariat in Abeokuta. Where the former executives of the party embraced the new ones headed by a unionist Chief Osoba. To be honest, LP Ogun State have started on a very sound footing. The big wigs in OGUN State politics are in LP. But the purpose of writing this piece is to call the attention of the LP handlers in the state to an impending but avoidable pitfall ahead of us as ...
Babcock University Agog As Davido, 1544 Others Celebrate Convocation David Adeleke, aka Davido was one of the 1,544 students that celebrated their convocation ceremony in Babcock University, Ogun State last week. The popular singer who made a disruptive entrance to the occasion was greeted with so much jubilation by his fellow students at the venue which made his father, Chief Deji Adeleke, who was among the dignitaries at the occasion became very angry with his son’s attitude. The musician came in to the event when Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Nigerian minister of Finance was delivering her speech. Eye witnesses describing the scenario said that the moment the singer walked into the venue, shouts of his name from students and fans rented the air, making the minister to have to have her speech suspended. However, Chief Deji Adeleke (Davido’s father) rescued the situation by calling out to his son. “David! David! Leave this place now, and follow me where ever I go”, the father intervened. I feel very happy to be nominated by the Peoples Democratic Party to be the running mate of Senator Iyiola Omisore. I am delighted that Senator Omisore himself ratified the nomination. The allegation that Omisore is a violent person does not hold water. It is baseless and a calculated attempt by some wicked politicians to discredit and bring his political career down. ARTICLE FROM YUSUPH OLANIYONU (BEFORE WE FORGET!) Before We Forget! - By Yusuph Olaniyonu The pressure on governments in our country to document, dramatise, advertise and celebrate their achievements, no matter how modest or little, stems from the tendency of our people to easily and quickly forget the difference which such achievements have brought to their lives. Often, our people shake off the effects of what used to be and live what presently obtains as if the present condition has always been the norm. The difference between the old times and the present situation easily pales into insignificance. The result is that governments at local, state or federal levels are tempted to spend significant time and resources to put on record what positive difference they have brought to the people. It is the era of what government information organs now call the ‘before and after’. Officials of these organs are constantly reminded, even by members of the public, of the need to ensure that they record what the ...
Why Fashola Needs To Address LASU Tuition Fees Crisis. When western education was first introduced in Nigeria decades ago, the intention was for every Nigerian to be educated at no cost. Notably, the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo was able to realise this laudable objective in the old western Nigeria with his 'free education policy' when he was the governor of the region. The late Awolowo's actualisation of the free education policy during his tenure enabled many great men of today to acquire formal education for free or at most, at a minimal cost. But this trend seems to have suffered a serious setback as education in Nigeria has become almost limited to children of the 'privileged' in the society. The poor standard of learning in Nigeria has also contributed in no small measure to lowered people's motivation to seek formal education especially in rural areas across the country. In Nigeria today, most institutions of learning have been proliferated in such a way that parents would have to pay through their n ...
