Why PDP lost –Daniel A former governor of Ogun State, Mr. Gbenga Daniel, has said the Peoples Democratic Party lost the governorship election to the All Progressives Congress on Saturday because the party failed to reconcile aggrieved members, causing them to defect to other parties. He said this at Iperu-Remo in Ikenne Local Government area of Ogun State on Sunday during Labour Party’s summit. Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the APC defeated the PDP candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore by over 100,000 votes Daniel described the outcome of the election as a ‘political tsunami.’ According to Daniel, the lesson of the election is that peoples’ power is the supreme power and “I have no doubt in my mind that the people of this federal constituency will do what they have to do to ensure that the Labour Party coasts away to victory.” He also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for creating the atmosphere which engendered free and fair election in the country. OYINLOLA' LETTTER TO GOODLUCK JONATHAN Dated 30th July, 2014 “Your Excellency, you are very conversant of all efforts made by me and very importantly, by respected leaders of the party to get this matter resolved and truly reconcile all aggrieved parties. “I, however, learnt that you were not sure of my support for you, given my closeness to former President Olusegun Obasanjo hence the decision to disallow me from returning to my legally recognized position as the National secretary of the PDP. “I have met you on several occasions on this matter to pledge my loyalty. At my last meeting with you, which was at the instance of the party’s National chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, you requested that I be part of the ongoing Osun State governorship campaigns. Impeachment frenzy: Lawmakers break loose: (Owerri), Tony John (Port Harcourt), Moshood Adebayo (Abeokuta), Tony Osauzo (Benin), Jeff Amaechi Agbodo (Abakiliki) Following the successful impeachment of Navy Rear Admiral Murtala Nyako (retd) as Adamawa State governor recently by the State House of Assembly and the progress made towards impeaching the Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, the alarm bell may have sounded across the country. Also the hammer is set to fall on the Enugu State Deputy Governor, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, whose impeachment process is fast drawing to a close. Particularly hit by the new development are state governors, who have had in the last fortnight embarked on massive reviews of their relationships with their legislatures, the judiciaries and in some cases the Presidency. There is a groundswell of speculations that the presidency is the unseen hand behind the gale, which is believed to be a growing tradition before any general elections. Recall the impeachments that ...
Oyinlola: I’ll quit PDP: Former National Secretary of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Olagunsoye Oyinlola has threatened to dump the party. The former governor, who made this known in a letter to President Goodluck Jonathan, hinged his decision on what he described as the brazen refusal by the party to obey a Court of Appeal ruling which order his re-instatement as the national secretary of the party. PDP, acting on a Federal High Court ruling of January 11, 2013 had removed Oyinlola as its national secretary. The former governor, however, challenged his removal at the Court of Appeal and got a reprieve as the appellate court quashed the judgment, which pronounced his removal and ordered that the former governor be reinstated. Oyinlola who noted that although the appellate court’s verdict is currently being challenged by a state chapter of party at the Supreme Court , expressed surprise at the failure of the party to obey the ruling of the appellate court in the same swift manner it obeyed t ...

Otunba Gbenga Daniel REACTED AGAIN !!! I didn’t steal 1kobo as Governor; Amosun must order trial of Dipo Dina’s suspected killers – Gbenga DanielBy Wale Odunsi on July 24, 2014 A former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has again dismissed accusations that he committed fraudulent acts during his eight years tenure. “I, Otunba Gbenga Daniel did not steal one kobo from the accounts of Ogun State. I call on anyone with evidence that I did to come forward,” he told newsmen at his private residence yesterday. How will a governor use road expansion project as a yardstick to seek for re-election after wasting more than 3 years in power? Ours is a good example in Ogun state. As it stands, our governor doesn't have any other laudable project(s) which we can all point to as major achievements across various critical sectors of our local economy. It is indeed a sheer waste of time and resource. We made a mistake by voting for him in 2011...we can not afford to repeat such mistake again.
Cardinal John Onaiyekan Cautions President Jonathan Overy Calling Opposition & Critics Boko Haram. According to The Nation, while speaking about the political insinuations surrounding the insurgency issue in the country, the cleric was quoted saying as he spoke on Rockcity 101.9 FM Abeokuta, Ogun State: "The issue of the politicisation is very serious and dangerous, where the party in government sees anybody who doesn’t agree with them as the Boko Haramist that are out to destroy the nation. What this means is that, if you do not agree with me, or if you are not in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), you don’t love Nigeria…" Onaiyekan stated that such attitude would not help to advance Nigeria and handle its current challenges. He claimed that disagreements between the parties don’t mean lack of love for the country. He also criticized the opposition over the same issue saying they consider themselves "the only ones who love Nigeria". The cleric also lamented about Goodluck Jonathan’s informatio ...
Cdhr Oou wrote ; UPDATE ON OOU SCHOOL FEES REDUCTION STRUGGLE At the CDHR meeting held today in PS, CDHR's position on the call for reduction is that as a first step towards reassuring OOUites and sending a message of seriousness to the university management and the Ogun State Government, the OOU Students Union must as a matter of urgency rescind its earlier instruction that students should pay the outrageous fee, the Union must announce that students should cease paying the fees until the reduction issue has been resolved. We are convinced that asking students to pay the fees while consultations are still ongoing is hypocritical on the part of the Student Union, and is interpreted to majority of the students as foot- dragging and reluctance to fight for the reduction of the fees. We call on the Union to take other steps while consulting in order to send a clear message to the concerned bodies that we mean business. Lecture boycotts and the convening of a General Assembly must be seriously considered now. ...

Update: ‘Why I killed my father at RCCG camp’ Twenty-one years old Tolani, Ajayi, has given an insight into why he killed his father, Charles Ajani (SAN), stabbing him repeatedly with a kitchen knife and also cutting the man's throat with machete. The 300 level students of Department of History and International Relations of the Redeemer University (RUN) Ogun State, said he was driven by a fit of anger to slaughter his father last Thursday inside the Redemption Camp along Lagos – Ibadan Expressway. His father's remains were recovered in a nearby bush at Canaan land Street within the RCCG Camp, in a box, where Tolani dumped them after he had hacked the man to death. But on Tuesday at Eleweran, the Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command, the lad who admitted that he was into drugs at a time, said substance played no part in the lethal attack, and begged his mother and siblings to forgive him for what he did. Our correspondent also learnt that there are plans to hand over the PDP governorship ticket to former speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole as a way of wresting power from the APC led government in the state. To that effect, the PDP according to sources, is planning a rally in Abeokuta where key members of the Osoba, Daniel and Bankole group have been invited to discuss terms for moving to the PDP. Osoba has been at daggers drawn with the leadership of the APC over control of party structure in Ogun, which culminated in his declaration that his group would not have anything to do with the state chapter of the party last month. Efforts to broker truce among the factions were deadlocked at the weekend, as the meeting which held in Abuja hit the rocks, as Osoba ma ...

TRUELY AN END TIME, 21 YEARS OLD KILLED HIS FATHER “I didn’t miss church throughout this semester. I never missed church for once. It is not about the church,” he said. - PREMIUM TIMES Tolani Ajayi, the 21-year-old undergraduate who killed his father, has declared his readiness to face the consequences of his action. Speaking to journalists on Tuesday at the Eleweran Police Headquarters, Abeokuta, Tolani stated that he hacked his father, a lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria to death, because he angered him. Tolani said his father provoked him by beating him with a stick; and that he needed no help from Nigerians. “There is no way Nigerians can help me. I am going to face my judgement. I am meant to pay for what I have done ” he said. “It is not as if I am ready, it is something that is inevitable – something that is going to happen; I am just waiting for it.” PREMIUM TIMES’ findings revealed that Tolani, a 300- level student of Department of History and International Relations of Rede ...

The suspect told newsmen on Tuesday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, when he was brought to the Police headquarters for further interrogation. Tolani Ajayi It was learnt that the suspect had been asked to face the disciplinary committee of the university, where he is a 300-level student of History and International Relations, before committing the offence. Poor governance responsible for Boko Haram An Islamic scholar, Ustaz Abdulhafeez Salaudeen has attributed the rise of the Boko Haram insurgent to poor governance. Ustaz Salaudeen, the Chief Executive Officer Kapel Foods, Abeokuta in Ogun State described as propaganda the linkage of Boko Haram to Islam. He spoke at the Annual Ramadan lecture organised by the Movement for Islamic Culture and Awareness (MICA), Alimosho branch in Egbeda, Lagos. Ustaz Abdulhafeez said Muslims should not shy away from telling the whole world that Boko Haram represents evil, hence should not be link with Islam. He said: “One of the basic things Muslims must do is to spread the information that they (Boko Haram) are not part of us. Never should you have it in mind that Boko Haram is Islam. You know what? Nigerian government gave birth to Boko Haram. First, we are not having good governance; good governance guarantees social security for the people. So, in the event of violence, terror, you should take a cover under the governme ...

On May 29, 2011, an unprepared government with a "MISSION" without VISION found itself in Oke-Mosan through blackmail, propaganda and deception; three years down the line, the result to Ogun State people are demolition of houses without adequate compensation, building of schools in bushes and isolated areas while existing ones are begging for attention, total collapse of micro businesses and increase in unemployment, needless disengagement and maltreatment of civil servants, misplacement of priorities, war against our Youths and Students of Tertiary Institutions etc. In Labour Party, we are determined to run a "PEOPLE FIRST" government, reposition the state Economy to make LIFE MORE ABUNDANT for all and sundry. As we move towards 2015 election, I seek for your support to lead this struggle and together we can move Ogun State Forward. LP.. Forward Ever Thank you. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka GNI...BELIEVE

On this day 7th July, 1998 Chief MKO Abiola died. What lesson do we all learn from His livelihood of an archetypal Aare Ona Kakanfo? * Early life Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola was born in Abeokuta, Ogun State.[1] His name, Kashimawo, means "Let us wait and see".[2] Moshood Abiola was his father's twenty-third child but the first of his father's children to survive infancy, hence the name 'Kashimawo'. It was not until he was 15 years old that he was properly named Moshood, by his parents. MKO showed entrepreneurial talents at a very young age, at the age of nine he started his first business selling firewood. He would wake up at dawn to go to the forest and gather firewood, which he would then cart back to town and sell before going to school, in order to support his old father and his siblings. He later founded a band at age fifteen where he would perform at various ceremonies in exchange for food. He eventually became famous enough to start demanding payment for his performances and used the money to ...

Governance is primarily about improving the lives of the citizens. No doubt that the Ogun State Governor is really making frantic and concerted efforts at improving the environmental aspect of living standard by constructing roads and bridges in the state. Many owners whose houses have been demolished to pave way for good road network are expectantly waiting to receive compensation claims almost a year after their buildings have been demolished along Sango - Agbado- Akute- Ojodu Road. Really, the affected owners are keeping quiet, as though they have nothing to do, they are bitter about their plight, hoping that sooner or later, the present regime in Ogun State will come to an end and they will have the opportunity to exercise their right to elect another Governor. As a person who is close to some of the owners who have been meeting regularly to map out strategies as to how they can achieve their aim and have their compensation claims received from the next Governor. I advise that every effort should be m ...

"The same scenario is currently playing out in Ogun State, where the PDP and Labour Party are waxing stronger by the day despite the projects being done by the Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. Public opinion among the elites favour the APC and Amosun in many centres. But it is a different story among the lower classes, who constitute at least 70% of the voting population. The urge to control the APC structure in Ogun State has divided the party and currently giving undue advantage to the opposition, who appear set to rid Oke Mosan of Amosun come 2015". Extract from Wale Adedayo's write-up "Fayose’s victory, another lesson for APC leaders"
THE EXCLUSION OF OGU (EGUN) PEOPLE FROM THE LAGOS AND OGUN NATIONAL CONFERENCE DELEGATES' LIST The continuous marginalization of the Ogu (Egun) people of South-West Nigeria is common knowledge. The late sage and Premier of the then Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo has remained the reference point in leadership not only because of his selflessness and capability, but primarily because of his inclusiveness. For example, it was Chief Awolowo who appointed the Aholu, Claudius Dosa Akran from Badagry as the Minister for Economic Planning and Community Development (1958 – 1964) in the then regional government. At the same time, Chief D. K Aihonsu (from Ipokia, present day Ogun State) was a member of the Regional House of Representatives through the support of Chief Awolowo. Since the demise of this sage (and the leadership style he represented), there have been spirited efforts to present the South-West Nigeria as a mono-ethnic region. In this vain, political representation (other than local elective pos ...
FULL TEXT OF CHIEF TOM IKIMI'S STATEMENT ON THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC) CONVENTION OF 13TH JUNE 2014. PL READ CAREFULLY: 1. On 1st of May 2014, I wrote to the then APC National Interim Executive Council Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande reporting to him the overwhelming unfavorable report I had received from across the Country on the status of our Party. I informed him that I had spoken to Party members and leaders across the country and that the feeling was unanimous regarding the downward trend of things. I emphasized that the latest problem arose from the Congresses, which were very poorly managed nationwide and suggested to him that the National Interim Executive Council meeting be immediately convened to address the problem. My letter was dispatched to him by email and copied to about twenty-five key leaders across the country. There was a delay in convening the IEC meeting that I requested and during the period of delay my letter got leaked to the press by someone from Ogun State. It was this alar ...

OGUN STATE IS NATURALLY ENDOWED NOT CREATION OF ANY INDIVIDUALS Ogun State since creation, had been investment haven of local and foreign investors because of its natural endowment with mineral resources and priviledged location as Gateway to Nigeria and Nations Sea and land ports. Those Companies in Agbara, Ota, Ewekoro, Sagamu and lately Ibese came into business because of these natural factors and not because anybody in Government created them by their own standard. One can give kudos to Heads of Government who deliberately created the industrial Estates in Ikeja, Ilupeju,Ibadan, Ogba and policies on free trade zones etc as these are deliberate creations and materialisation of their iventive genius which gave rise to idustrial growth of the States. This is the kind of creation any administration can lay claim to with great attestations. Counting investments by companies in a State like Ogun State as part of Government achievement need be verified and put in perspective. If a company that needs to locat ...
Tinubu, Oyegun Condemn Military Action Against Governors * * The National Leader of All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu and the Chairman of the Party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun have accused the Federal Government of allegedly using the security agencies to suppress innocent Nigerians. The APC leaders who spoke in Ado-Ekiti yesterday described the arrest of the Governor of Rivers State, Hon Rotimi Amaechi and the barring of Edo state Governor Adams Oshiomhole from coming to the APC rally in Ado Ekiti, as a flagrant abuse of power . The Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Rocha Okorocha, Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun and a chieftain of the party, Audu Ogbeh , urged Nigerians to resist the PDP’s efforts at plunging the country into anarchy. When contacted on phone, the Public Relations Officer of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, Ondo State, Capt Ademola Adegoke who denied the allegation, said his men did not arrest, stop or prevent any of the governors from landing or ente ...

They expressed this view during a programme tagged "A Day Out With the Governor", which saw Amosun leading public servants on tour of projects in the three Senatorial Districts of the state as part of the events commemorating the 2014 Public Service Week. The tour took them to the long stretch of Abiola Way nearing completion, Sapon and Itoku road and flyover projects as well as the newly constructed ultra-modern mechanic village and model college under construction in Onijanganjangan area of Abeokuta. Ogun Will Continue to Project Wole Soyinka Image - Amosun Ogun State Government has assured that it would continually support whatever meaningful projects that would project the image of the Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka. Governor Ibikunle Amosun yesterday gave the pledge in Abeokuta, the state capital at a press conference in preparation for the 80th birthday anniversary of the celebrant. Represented by Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa, the governor described the celebrant as a rare breed, who would forever be celebrated. Amosun also expressed delight at Soyinka's records of achievements in academics and emancipation of the black race, stating that, "Although, Soyinka is everybody's product, but we in Ogun State are proud to continue to celebrate him because, he has continually put Ogun State on the world map. OGUN STATE YOUTHS ASK, MUST IT CONTINUE LIKE THIS? In continuation of our series, the Ogun State Youth Association of Nigeria wish to state unequivocally that we are being driven by the overall well being of our fellow youths and the general populace and not by any other motives or politician as being speculated after our last press release. If the government of the day had been responsive to Ogun State people’s demand and genuinely proactive to solving their problems there wouldn’t have been need for any write up in the first instance. We therefore challenged the government to show to the whole world the welfare package they’ve been chunning out to the public that elected them into office. Aside the welfare package we advocate for, it is suffice to note that our executive governor seems to have been running a one man show where we are sure the expert advice of almost all the aides serving in the present cabinet are not being carried out as advice, the sycophants seems to be having the upper hand wi ...

2015 General Election: Ogun State In Perspective By Badero Olusola It is 243 days from today to February 14, 2015 General Election and 347 days to the next Inauguration Day in May 29, 2015. Under this pretext, I will lay bare the expected determinants of what could make Gov. Ibikunle Amosun continue to govern Ogun State beyond 2015 or cease to occupy that office. If you have been a follower of events in the state in the last 3 years, you will agree with me that the followings can't be totally ignored in the race towards the next election in our state. We are currently being ruled by a man known for incompetence and cluelessness. A ruthless sadist and most corrupt governor ever in the long history of this state. A vengeance and hatred inclined administrator. And above it all, a complete dullard in the corridor of power. Governor Ibikunle Amosun came to power with lots of promises, to be different from what we are used to in governance as a people. He promised to improve our infrastructures like schools, h ...

Fares: Angry passengers burn NRC stations, loot offices There was pandemonium at the Nigerian Railway Corporation stations in the Agbado and Itoki areas of Ogun State on Tuesday as some passengers and hoodlums set fire on the offices after vandalising them and carting away some amount of money. PUNCH Metrogathered that the uproar, which began at about 7am when passengers were boarding trains, was over a hike in the fares. Our correspondent learnt that the fare to Oshodi for the economic class shot up from N150 to N230, while the executive class went from N500 to N750. The Vice President, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, had come to Lagos on Monday to inaugurate two new air-conditioned coaches at the Iddo Terminus. The new trains were expected to increase the daily train passengers in the state from 16,000 to 22,000.
Ogun: A tale of two administration Insecurity used to be a major issue in Ogun State. How was your government able to contain the situation? Section 14 subsection 2b of the 1999 Constitution states that “the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.” Amosun has fulfilled this all-important provision one hundred per cent. A woman was recounting the other day how restrictive life was in the state, especially between 2008 and 2011. You dared not remain in your shop till 8p.m. Often by 6pm, most shops in Abeokuta would have closed for the day. The state was awash with gun-toting youths, who commanded shop-owners to surrender their money or life. So many people became penniless as a result of this reign of terror. Some public officials were even alleged to have kept guns in their lockers. The current governor himself escaped death by a hair’s breadth. Others were not that lucky to escape the furry of the machete-wielding men, the then lords of Ogun State. Some indigen ...

Warning Bell: Ogun State Labour Party By Badero Olusola. It is no more a secret that Labour Party is the fastest growing Political Party in Ogun state today. In fact, the ratings of the party in its recent outings has been unprecedented and very encouraging. This can be likened to the open declaration of the likes of Hon. Remmy Hazzan, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, the trio of Chief Sarafa Isola, Sina Kawonise, Gboyega Isiaka (Governorship candidates of the party) and many serving House of Assembly members. The highest boost to the camp of the LP was when the former Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel openly declared for the party at the Party's Secretariat in Abeokuta. Where the former executives of the party embraced the new ones headed by a unionist Chief Osoba. To be honest, LP Ogun State have started on a very sound footing. The big wigs in OGUN State politics are in LP. But the purpose of writing this piece is to call the attention of the LP handlers in the state to an impending but avoidable pitfall ahead of us as ...
Babcock University Agog As Davido, 1544 Others Celebrate Convocation David Adeleke, aka Davido was one of the 1,544 students that celebrated their convocation ceremony in Babcock University, Ogun State last week. The popular singer who made a disruptive entrance to the occasion was greeted with so much jubilation by his fellow students at the venue which made his father, Chief Deji Adeleke, who was among the dignitaries at the occasion became very angry with his son’s attitude. The musician came in to the event when Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Nigerian minister of Finance was delivering her speech. Eye witnesses describing the scenario said that the moment the singer walked into the venue, shouts of his name from students and fans rented the air, making the minister to have to have her speech suspended. However, Chief Deji Adeleke (Davido’s father) rescued the situation by calling out to his son. “David! David! Leave this place now, and follow me where ever I go”, the father intervened. The Omo Baba ...

APC PAID ADELEKE TO CONTEST PDP PRIMARY — BELLO JUNE 8, 2014 BY FEMI MAKINDE In this interview with FEMI MAKINDE , the former Director-General of Senator Isiaka Adeleke Campaign Organisation, Mr. Adejare Bello, who is now Senator Iyiola Omisore’s running mate alleges that Adeleke lied to him and the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State during the PDP primary election Are you not worried by allegations of violence being leveled against Senator Iyiola Omisore, who you now work with? I feel very happy to be nominated by the Peoples Democratic Party to be the running mate of Senator Iyiola Omisore. I am delighted that Senator Omisore himself ratified the nomination. The allegation that Omisore is a violent person does not hold water. It is baseless and a calculated attempt by some wicked politicians to discredit and bring his political career down. We have been together since 1999 when Nigeria returned to democracy; he was the deputy governor under the Alliance for Democracy and I was the minority leade ...

ARTICLE FROM YUSUPH OLANIYONU (BEFORE WE FORGET!) Before We Forget! - By Yusuph Olaniyonu The pressure on governments in our country to document, dramatise, advertise and celebrate their achievements, no matter how modest or little, stems from the tendency of our people to easily and quickly forget the difference which such achievements have brought to their lives. Often, our people shake off the effects of what used to be and live what presently obtains as if the present condition has always been the norm. The difference between the old times and the present situation easily pales into insignificance. The result is that governments at local, state or federal levels are tempted to spend significant time and resources to put on record what positive difference they have brought to the people. It is the era of what government information organs now call the ‘before and after’. Officials of these organs are constantly reminded, even by members of the public, of the need to ensure that they record what the ...
Why Fashola Needs To Address LASU Tuition Fees Crisis. When western education was first introduced in Nigeria decades ago, the intention was for every Nigerian to be educated at no cost. Notably, the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo was able to realise this laudable objective in the old western Nigeria with his 'free education policy' when he was the governor of the region. The late Awolowo's actualisation of the free education policy during his tenure enabled many great men of today to acquire formal education for free or at most, at a minimal cost. But this trend seems to have suffered a serious setback as education in Nigeria has become almost limited to children of the 'privileged' in the society. The poor standard of learning in Nigeria has also contributed in no small measure to lowered people's motivation to seek formal education especially in rural areas across the country. In Nigeria today, most institutions of learning have been proliferated in such a way that parents would have to pay through their n ...

MR Dada Adeyeri is from Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State but is domiciled in Ijoko-Ota, Ogun State with his two wives and children. A true regional migrant, one would say. But another thing Adeyeri was good at regionally was stealing, as he used to traverse states in the South West in quest to steal motorcycles. And he was perpetrating the act in the dead of the night. After making a lot of money from the operations, Adeyeri decided to up his ante by paying a deposit to procure an English pistol in 2013. But before he could pay the balance, he was arrested and charged to court. After a short remand in prison, Adyeri perfected his bail, came out of prison and decided to complete the gun transaction. As he was planning this, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ogun State got a wind of intention. Led by the Officer-In-Charge, Superintendent of Police Mohammed Tijani, arrested him on May 16 at a hotel where the gun was being handed to him. Also nabbed were one Taiye Ayo (27) who used to help him take stolen motorcycles t ...
Oil first discovered in Ilaje not Oloibiri — Confab delegate, Ebiseni. Mr Olusola Ebiseni, Commissioner for Environment in Ondo State and a delegate to the National Conference, says oil was first discovered in Ondo State and not Bayelsa contrary to what is widely believed. He was completely ruffled by the omission of his name. Others had been called. They had also spoken and another phase of the debate was just a click a way, signaling an end of the debate. A vote for the adoption of suggested amendments and other proposals was anticipated. For more than eight hours or so of the debate, he patiently sat, waiting to be called to no avail. Just then, he shouted,” Point of Order”. Granted, he explained how he had written his name on the list of those who would be contributing but was omitted. Humorously, he regaled the leadership and was eventually asked to continue since he was already standing. The issue at stake was the report of the Committee on Environment. The event was the ongoing 2014 Nat ...

Those who plan to push the political violence in Ogun State on Governor Ibikunle Amosun as a prelude to their planned perpetuation of violence should know that Ogun State will never go back to those era gain never! The era where a governor mobilized jobbers who openly, in broad daylight, carried rituals and deposited it in front of the State House of Assembly. We may need to start reminding these people of their evil deeds, lest they think we have collective amnesia.

My ward ran away from Kano when Yorubas and Hausa, Fulani people engaged in one of those numerous end-all-burn-all battles that Nigeria is known for. Yoruba masquerades in Ogun State had caused the death of a young Northern woman, allegedly a sex worker. Northerners especially in Kano went on a rampage of murder and mayhem. No alliances mattered. Muslims killed Muslims. Christians killed Muslims. Muslims killed Christians.Yorubas went to work, slaughtering Hausas, Biroms, Nupe, Fulanis, Muslims, Christians...any northerener they found around in the affected south west enclaves. Within a couple of days, as those fights usually went, the Hausa, Fulanis, Kano indigenes...descended on the Igbos in Kano. The Igbos are like the proverbial butler. They always dunnit. The Igbos descended on the Northerners or anyone who looked like he was a northerner in Onitsha and Aba, especially in reprisal killings. They added any Muslim at all to the mix of victims. Armageddon was Nigeria for nearly a week. My ward and her f ...

Ogun: The Den Of Kidnappers I've been informed of the kidnap of a girl in Ijebu Ode for 5 days now. She is the daughter of the owner of Ajoke Store in Ijebu Ode. Her Kidnappers are demanding for N20mn before she can be released or they will kill her. I heard the mother is begging them with N5mn but the kidnappers are not accepting. I don't know the efforts of the Ogun State Police on this but I'll like to plead with the police to get down to work and bring back this girl. I even heard the mother is in a total shattered state of mind and currently hospitalised. I know the economic situation in our state is biting *** the people. Especially the youths. But I'll plead with our people to remember that we are all victims here. Rather than vent ur anger on the innocent business men and women, let's face and fight the looters in our midst. Ajoke Store owner, the woman doesn't deserve this from you. I pray this girl return to her mother alive. Good Morning. Maiyegun Glasgow

Detailed Analysis of Gov. Amosun's Three Years In Office Speech Part II By Badero Olusola. June 3, 2015. HEALTH "EFFICIENT HEALTH CARE DELIVERY" -Amosun. Here is the short summary of your speech on health care: "Construction of health center in Totoro Abeokuta, planning to construct 9 others across the state. Improved immunisation, introduction of first and second phase of conditional Cash transfer CCT called "Gbomoro" that in return increased the number of antenatal attendance in just three local govts namely; Abeokuta South, Ipokia and Sagamu. Upgraded equipments in our hospitals and employed 782 Medical workers. Continuos immunisation of our children. Refurbished over 100 health centers across the state. And blah blah blah. Analysis: lol... Mr Governor sir, if you are reading this, please use your left palm to clean your mouth, you are a terrible liar. My Late Granpa of a blessed memory would say and I quote, "If you must lie, make it brief". You repeated your bogus "Gbomoro" achievement over five time ...
Give chance to absolute healing not to the wound but by forgiving your foes. Do not place them in an unbreakable shell of your judgment for their past or wrong doing. When the river gets to the ocean, its free! So give space to healing by acceptance. Forgiveness is a turning point in the mirror of your heart. Its like changing the unsightly face to exquisiteness, the tantrum to tolerance, the uneven duos to fair images, your rival to a better people etc. Break the shield of your verdicts. Let your wound embrace the salve of lenience. Let inhale the air that is not tainted by the breath of our decrees no matter how harsh the conditions are. Forgiveness like fresh air imbues the lungs of healings. To forgive or to forget which is the hardest? Is the first more difficult than the latter? When does love turned to hate, when do hate turn to love, when do we say its enough, when do we give it all up and when do we have to stop hating? If you have failed to forgive others you have also failed to forgive yourself ...

As we praise God on our various gatherings, let's learn to thank and praise Him for the "real" things He has done for us. We all are exceedingly grateful when we escape accidents, get prompted, finally get pregnant, get a job, get healed etc but little is known and said about the "real" things. Aren't these real? Surely they are but at a level. We "see" the baby, the healing, the promotion, and also the escape from death but none of these can compare with God taking our sin away, making us new creations, seating us in heavenly places and making one with Himself and these are the "real" things - even those not born again enjoy these things but can NEVER EVER have joint seating with Jesus like you do. Ephesians 2:4-6 "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, [5] Even when we were dead in sins, he made us alive together with Christ, by grace you are saved;) [6] And has raised us up together, and MADE US SIT TOGETHER IN HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST JESUS" 1 Corinthians 6:17 "But . ...

Micro-seconds from death By Wale Adedayo Contrary to the advice of my friend, I feel one should put fingers to the keyboard to detail what happened in Ilishan town last Saturday, 10 January 2009 at about 10pm as I was returning to Abeokuta from Ijebu Ife, through Atan, Ijebu Igbo and Ago Iwoye. Maybe, because one is now thousands of miles away, there is a certain lower level of anxiety (not fear!). But for whatever it is worth, as a writer, this is my story: The Ogun State Government had a retreat for all senior officials of Government on Friday, 9 through Saturday, 10 January 2009. But virtually all of us arrived on Thursday, 8 January, because we were supposed to occupy about four hotels in Ijebu Ode. I understand that about 2 to 3 days before then, regular and additional mobile policemen were deployed to the roads leading to Ijebu Ode, ostensibly because of participants' safety. Shortly before the engagement ended on Saturday afternoon, I had cause to visit my hometown, Ijebu Ife from where I later lef ...
My Illness Was A Blessing In Disguise -Pa Kasunmu Pa Kasumu who is fully back into acting while speaking on the present situation of his health he said: “My health is better now, glory be to God”. On the exact nature of the ailment he said: I cannot really say what the nature of the ailment was but the day I got to know was when I went to my family doctor’s hospital at Jibowu, Lagos. They tested me and said I needed to go to another laboratory for a more comprehensive test. When I went to the laboratory, they checked my heart and carried out some other tests on me and later referred me to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba. It was there that I knew that I needed to be thoroughly checked medically. That was how it started in 2009. It was there that I realised that I had problems with my heart, liver and it was getting to the kidney before it was stopped at LUTH. The actor who said the Lagos State government gave him 1.5million while Ogun State Government gave him 2.5m for his treatment asi ...

She was sorely hated by the Onitsha fake medicine traders at the brigde head market in Anambra state because of her relentless confiscation of their illicite drug dealings. Some sections of the Orlu patent medicine market spoke ill about her because many of them were sent to their various villages to become farmers when their medicine stores were shot by the incurriptible Nafdac boss. The people of Ariaria int'l market who dealt on fake drugs had it hot when she took the market by stormed and rided it of counterfit drugs. Those in Kano, Kaduna, Rivers, Lagos and Ogun states who were counterfit drug dealers would never forget about the outrageous cleansing that took place in their various markets. Consequently, alot of people in various locations in Nigeria who engaged themselves in counterfit medicine business lost their source of livelihood. Untold hardship became their heritage eventually. UNCOMMON ROGUERY & THE LIES ABOUT "UNCOMMON TRANSFORMATION" IN AKWA IBOM STATE. By Ita Awak We have said it time and again that all the talk about Akwa Ibom recording some kind of "uncommon transformation" in terms of infrastructural development under the watch of Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio in the last seven years is absolute baloney & an unconscionable fraud. We have consistently argued that the dualization of 3 selected federal roads in parts of Ikot Ekpene and Uyo Senatorial Districts, one of which passes through the governor's hometown, cannot truly translate into what government agents dubiously hyperbolise as "uncommon transformation." In many fora, I have asserted that in view that our annual budget is 4 times that of our neighbouring Cross River State and also equal the annual revenue of all the 5 Igbo-speaking South Eastern states, we can only rightly say that our State has recorded some degree of "uncommon transformation" if practical evidence can be shown that what we've recorded in terms o ...
Tributes flow as Ado Bayero bows out One of Nigeria’s most prominent Islamic leaders and Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Abdullahi Bayero, 83, is dead. The octogenarian died peacefully in his palace after a long battle with cancer in the morning hours and was buried at 4 pm, a palace spokesman, Mahe Bashir Wali announced on Radio Kano. Palace sources said that the revered late Emir who was the second-highest Islamic authority in the country, after the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar 111, died after about 50 years on the throne. Ado Abdullahi Bayero, with the Shehu of Borno were among the three influential traditional rulers in the Muslim-majority north, appointed in 1963. The Islamic leader, a former critic of Boko Haram insurgents, narrowly escaped being killed by the Islamic group, in January last year in an attack that led to the death of four of his body guards. Although security sources said then that Bayero was not hurt in the attack, he was later flown to London for treatment over alleged shoc ...

Ekiti June 21st: Dr Kema Chikwe said in Ado Ekiti today that Dr Ayodele Fayose will give Ekiti people quality education. Even in my moment of sadness, I managed to laugh a bit. How can a man whose HND is a subject of eternal controversy give quality education to a people whose passion for quality education is arguably the best in the country? My venerable dad always tells me a man cannot give what he does not have. With all due respect, Ibikunle Amosun has HND as his first degree and he's not doing badly as the governor of Ogun state. Ditto for Rauuf Aregbesola who has an HND in Civil Engineering. These guys are sound and of modest breed when it comes to social engagements. Can the same be said of Fayose?... Anyway, like I do say all the time, only the people of Ekiti state will elect the leadership they deserve.
There are two sides to the APC coin in Ogun State. As speculations persist about whether to move away or not, the most attractive option, to a number of us from Ijebu East Local Government, is PDP, not Labour Party, and certainly not UPN. But the ONLY esinsin in the ointment is GEJ. But if indications at my disposal are correct, we are determined to remain in APC despite the current challenges. It is not a good option to allow a re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan. Discussions among key leaders in the 11 Wards, thus far, indicate they do not want the Egbe to scatter further. Final decision is tomorrow. May God help us all!

Jonathan, Oil-producing States’ Governors Meet Yesterday,President Goodluck Jonathan had closed-door meeting with governors of oil producing states at the presidential villa, Abuja. Okonjo-Iweala who also attended the meeting between the president and the governors yesterday had stated that many of the states get monetary allocations that far outweigh the annual budget of some neigbouring countries. Speaking at the Babcock University’s convocation lecture in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, the minister urged Nigerians to be more discerning. because the governors had no reason not to develop their states. , judging by the huge amounts they regularly got from Federation Account. The governors who attended the meeting are Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom); Theodore ...
NEWS: ABIOLA IS GREATER THAN YOU. HAFSAT TELLS OBJ. BY BAYO AKINLOYE The daughter of the annulled June 12 presidential election winner, Hafsat Abiola-Costello, has said that her father, Moshood Abiola was greater than former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and as such he did not need the ex-president’s recognition. This is coming on the heels of Obasanjo’s statement on Saturday acknowledging that Abiola made sacrifices for the nation. Obasanjo made the remark in Abeokuta, Ogun State, at the 4th founder’s day of Nobelhouse College, and 85th birthday of an industrialist, Chief Olatunde Abudu. “Ogun State would have produced three presidents if not for ‘bad belle.’ I want to agree with him (Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo) that Abiola sacrificed for the nation,” he said. His remark came less than two weeks to the 21st anniversary of the annulled June 12 election, which was widely believed to have been won by Abiola but was annulled by Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retd). But yesterday, at the Ku ...
TOM IKIMI, SHERIFF SET TO DUMP APC By Abeokuta, Sulaiman Fasasi / April 13, 2014 Ikimi, Sheriff set to dump APC over Tinubu Amosun, Osoba hold parallel congresses in Ogun Strong indications emerged yesterday that former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, and a member of the constitution drafting committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Tom Ikimi, were planning to decamp from the APC to another party, over alleged high handedness of the Leader of the party, former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu. A reliable source, who is a member of House of Representatives from Ogun State, while speaking with our correspondent yesterday under a condition of anonymity, revealed that the leaders have revealed their intention to desert Tinubu. It would be recalled that Sheriff, a fortnight ago, nearly engaged Tinubu in fisticuffs during a National Executive Council meeting, held at the party’s headquarters in Abuja. Pressing issues in the party including wards, local governments, states and nationa .. ...
My quarrel with Obasanjo over –Atiku Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said that the quarrel between him and his former boss, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo is over. Atiku also said that he did not harbour any “hatred or enmity” against the former President. The former VP spoke on Tuesday, in Abuja, when he granted audience to the leaders of the Northern Youth Leaders Forum, a group that recently embarked on a mission to settle the quarrel between the former President and his deputy. The group, led by one Eliot Afiyo, had some weeks back met with Obasanjo in his Ota farm, in Ogun State, during which the ex-President announced that he had forgiven his former deputy. Both Obasanjo and Atiku ruled the country together as numbers one and two between 1999 and 2007 but the two were at loggerheads towards the end of their tenure over the former’s alleged third-term agenda, which contradicted his deputy’s ambition to become the president. “I don’t harbour any grudge against my former boss. Ye ...

Citizens Must Hold Local And State Governments To Account – Bobby Udoh A Nation Building Evangelist, Bobby Udoh, has challenged Nigerian citizens to hold those in authority to account for the vast resources being made available to them for developing the federal, state and local areas. Udoh, who noted that President Goodluck Jonathan, unlike his predecessors, has made available funds saved in the Excess Crude Account, insisted, “The question goes beyond are states judiciously using the money? It is rather, are citizens holding state and local governments to account? That is the critical question.” Udoh, who was speaking during Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, maintained that the comments made by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, during 12th convocation of Babcock University, Ilisan Remo, Ogun State, “is nothing new”. He said that the Minister, during her first tenure under the Obasanjo administration was known to publish local and sta ...
Chief Segun Osoba - Pls wake up 2. Chief even said if God n Jesus Christ shld beg him, he wil not hear. That statement is blasphemous n sacrilegious. It is pride pure n simple. The die is cast. Sen Ibikunle Amosun is our man in Ogun State. Sen Bola Ahmed Tinubu wil never support what is wrong. Amosun is working. Ogun State is moving forward. Osoba shld learn from Chief Bisi Akande who daily supports Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in d state of Osun. He shld wake up from his deep slumber. Shalom
Chief Segun Osoba-Pls wake up. I was an admirer of Chief in his days as a seasoned journalist. He was a great delight. An Awoist of repute. He later became a prominent politician n Governor of Ogun State. He was booed n nearly lynched by students n area boys at d resident of Chief MKO Abiola after his death 4 having sympathy 4 Sanni Abacha. He later became a godfather to Gov Ibikunle Amosun after he crossed over to ACN. The comments he made recently on Gov Amosun is disappointing to say d least. I pity him bcos at one time he was calling d shots in d state thru d support of Sen Bola Tinubu. Today, d story has changed. With his sterling n outstanding performance in 3 yrs , Sen Amosun has earned d mandate of d pple to take charge fully. He doesn't need a godfather who wil impose candidates on him again. Chief Osoba shld wake up n face reality by supporting d pple's governor. Relying on his Awoist credential which he failed to demonstrate as governor is living in a fools paradise. He said God n Jesus wil
Ibikunle Amosun And His Predecessor(s): A Comparative Analysis By Rahman Alli Perhaps it is time to appraise the performance of Governor Ibikunle Amosun vis-à-vis that of his predecessors in Ogun State having spent about three years out of his mandatory four-year term. It then becomes exigent this time around in as much as some people in and outside the Gateway State have incessantly hailed him to high heavens for having performed well above, not only his predecessor; the immediate past Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel but also, all of his predecessors who had governed the State put together. Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the incumbent governor of Ogun State is the 14th man and the fourth civilian governor to rule the Gateway State. For records purposes, little mental exercise and for people to know the characters involved we run through the list of those who have called the shots in the State since its inception on the 3rd of February, 1976 viz: Major Gen. Saidu Ayodele Balogun (March 1976-July 1978), Bri ...
The Holy Bible, in (John 2:19b), quotes “pull down this temple and I will rebuild it in three days”. This statement by Jesus Christ though, a parable generated a lot of controversies, the people who heard him argued it was impossible to pull down a temple and rebuild in 3 days, saying it was blasphemy, but the Lord Jesus Christ was not just speaking literarily but in spiritual sense knowing that nothing was impossible for him. The seeming impossibilities of life lie with mediocre people who have no clue about the world of possibilities they live in. According to Pastor Sam Adeyemi “a vision makes a good leader and a leader does not make a good vision.” True! The vision of Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State from the onset of his administration for the state was to rebuild the state democratically and economically for the prosperity of all and the present realities in the state after three years of his administration attest to the validity of his vision and commitment to better the lot of all in ...
Still on d matter of the good things that ever happened to me was my resignation to continue with this evil administration led by Mr. Ibikunle Amosun. I was able to see early enough the propaganda the man was playing and refused to be part of it. In all ramifications, quote me, the administration of His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel was far better than this present Governor. I hope the good people of Ogun will send this man packing. The good people of Ogun State deserve someone better to be in charge."...Ajiroba Oladipupo Daniel (Former SA to Amosun on MDGs)
Ogun didn’t follow road laws —LP THE Labour Party (LP) in Ogun State said at the weekend that most of the roads constructed by the incumbent administration did not follow legal frameworks. LP state publicity secretary, Mr Deji Kalejaiye noted that the six-lane highways being constructed within the state metropolis in the name of urban renewal is nothing but an aberration and deviation from the laws of the land. Kalejaiye pointed out that the process of urbanisation was not followed before Governor Ibikunle Amosun started demolishing buildings and reconstructing already constructed roads in the name of standard. “It will be recalled that in 2005, the Town Planning Bill was passed into law in agreement with the old Western/Eastern and Northern Region Town Planning Laws. The law clearly defines the process and legal framework for urban renewal,” he added. He lamented that while the Gbenga Daniel administration dualised Lalubu road with a bridge and by direct labour at the rate of N100m per kilometre ...
