He won 6062 recently and last year indoors 647662 in Davis Cup. Lets look at djoker's return numbers over their last 3 matches (8 sets): -64% with 6 breaks -37% with 3 breaks -39% with 4 breaks Conversely here's berd's returns numbers: -33% with 1 break -25% with 0 breaks -29 percent with 2 breaks That is 13 breaks vs 3 and a much higher break liklihood for djoker. This slow court saw berdych his ZERO winners in his horrific 1st match vs wawrinka and t ...

February 8 2014 Dubai UAE    Novak Djokovic is accustomed to defending titles, but his defence of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships crown he claimed in 2013 will have a special edge to it. The Serbian will not only be bidding to equal Roger Federer’s record title tally of five when play in the ATP World Tour 500 Series Event begins on 24th February, he will also be trying to accomplish a career-first and win a title for the fifth time.   So the pressure will be on as he faces a spectacular field that includes not only arch-rival Federer but 2013 semi-finalist Juan Martin Del Potro, recent Australian Open semi-finalist Tomas Berdych and the entertaining Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.   “The pressure is always there as a top player. I do feel there's always high expectations,” said Djokovic, who won the title in 2009-11 as well as 2013. “But it's all part of our sport. It's what we need to deal with. It's what we need to accept and, you know, try to use it in a positive way.   “By saying that, I ...
Jack’s Tennis Tip – Racket talent or athletic ability? I have a theory that you can put tennis players (any player) into one of two categories. They either fall under the category of 'racket talented' or 'athlete.' I made up this theory quite a while ago but I still think it is valid. There are a few players that confuse me but for the most part I think my theory holds true. Obviously the lines blur in some instances and without a doubt all of the players on the professional tour are racket talented and supremely athletic too, but bear with me; Rafael Nadal - athlete Novak Djokovic - athlete Stanislas Wawrinka - racket talented Juan Martin Del Potro - racket talented David Ferrer - athlete Andy Murray - athlete Tomas Berdych - racket talented Roger Federer - racket talented Richard Gasquet - racket talented Jo-Wilfried Tsonga - athlete Kei Nishikori - racket talented Gael Monfils - athlete Milos Raonic - racket talented John Isner - racket talented Grigor Dimitrov - racket talented Serena Williams - A ...
His latest triumph advanced Nadal into Sunday’s men’s singles final, where he will face the second-best Swiss tennis player of this generation, after Federer. Nadal scrapes into Australian Open semi-final Rafael Nadal has made it to the Australian Open semi-finals for the fourth time, after coming from a set down to defeat No. 22 seed Grigor Dimitrov 3-6, 7-6, 7-6, 6-2 in a thrilling quarter-final on Wednesday. The No. 1 seed and 2009 champion was pushed to the limit by Dimitrov, who was playing in his first major quarter-final, but raced away in the fourth set after edging the impressive young Bulgarian in the second and third set tie-breaks. Nadal's semi-final opponent on Friday will be sixth seed Roger Federer, who overcame Britain's Andy Murray 6-3, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3. The other semi-final sees Tomas Berdych, who knocked out Spain's David Ferrer in four sets, pitched against Stanislas Wawrinka, who ousted defending champion Novak Djokovic in a blockbuster five-setter yesterday. Thursday’s second women’s singles semifinal pits No. 5 seed Agnieszka Radwanska, fresh off her upset of two-time defending champion Victoria Azarenka, against No. 20 Dominika Cibulkova. Radwanska leads their head-to-head 5-1. Thursday’s men’s semifinal matches No. 7 seed Tomas Berdych, who ousted third seed David Ferrer, against No. 8 Stanislas Wawrinka, who upset three-time defending champion Novak Djokovic. Wawrinka holds an 8-5 career advantage and has won their three most recent meetings. But Berdych beat him a year ago in Davis Cup in four sets and, with Radek Stepanek, won the doubles over him and Marco Chiudinelli in a monster 24-22 fifth set. The TV ratings should be good in Switzerland with Roger Federer showcased on Wednesday night and Wawrinka 24 hours later. In Canada, Bouchard’s win over Ivanovic drew 1.6 million viewers, more than the average National Hockey League weeknight game. But that’s still about 100 times fewer than the estimated 116 million Chinese who watched Li win the ...
Stanislas Wawrinka ended the reign of four- time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic with a stunning quarter-final victory. The Swiss eighth seed won 2-6 6-4 6-2 3-6 9-7 to set up a semi-final against Tomas Berdych, and gain revenge for an epic five- set defeat by Djokovic in the fourth round last year. It was the first loss for Djokovic under the guidance of new coach Boris Becker, and brings to an end a winning streak of 28 matches on tour - and 25 matches over three years in Melbourne. The Serb was bidding to become the first man since Roy Emerson to win four straight Australian Open titles.
Australian Open Update: It was the upset heard all over the world as number one-ranked Serena Williams fell to Ana Ivanovic of Serbia, 6-4, 3-6, 3-6, at the 2014 Australian Open women’s singles on Sunday. Another top seed who got eliminated was Maria Sharapova, who was tripped by 20th-seed Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. Li Na advances to the quarterfinals to face Flavia Pennetta of Italy after the Chinese cruised past Ekaterina Makarova of Russia, 6-2, 6-0. Over at the men’s singles draw, Novak Djokovic and Stanislas Warwinka meet at the quarterfinals after besting their respective opponents during the weekend. The winner will go on to face the victor between Tomas Berdych and David Ferrer in the semis. Filipino Treat Conrad Huey is firing it up at the double’s division as he and partner Dominic Inglot of Great Britain go up against Eric Butorac of the USA and Raven Klaasen of Russia in the quarterfinals of the men’s doubles. In mixed doubles, Huey and Raquel Kops-Jones of the USA ...
Good day to everyone!!! Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday so far :D It's early morning in Melbourne with Day 8 of the Aussie Open looming with exciting tennis action. I know yesterday was full of amazing tennis with some expected results and some not so expected. Novak Djokovic showed his usual brilliance on a tennis court and was not hindered by the flashy and unpredictable style of his Italian opponent. He dropped only 5 games to Fabio Fognini as he cruised into the final 8. Stanislas Wawrinka also dispatched the veteran Spaniard Tommy Robredo for the first time in 7 encounters. Although he got it done in straight sets, the last two came down to two close tiebreaks. This victory sends Stan into the final 8 where he will see a very familiar foe. It's a rematch of his epic 5 set match against Nole last year one round earlier. I'm curious to see if this year will be any different. Tomas Berdych had no trouble in his match with Kevin Anderson. He moves onto the last 8 with a straight sets ...
Richard Gasquet is eliminated in 4-sets by Tommy Robredo, the SAME Man, who eliminated federer in the last year's US Open in straight sets... Well done robredo (Qualifies to the round of 16)! Samantha Sam Stosur is out AS WELL.. but that was a really close one out there though the score was: Ana Ivanovic bt Sam Stosur 6-7 6-2 6-2. As usual, Novak Djokovic bt Denis Istomin in ALMOST straight sets, 6-3 6-3 7-5... Tomas Berdych is also through to the fourth round and so is David Ferrer, and Kei Nishikori. and Yeah, Li Na almost lost. Lucie Safarova had three or four match points in her name, ALL OF WHICH were saved by Li when she was 3-5 down in the second set, all to get the set 7-6(10-8)... thunderous Li. She won the third and final set 6-3. What a Comeback Li in the Melbourne 40+ degree heat! Well PLAYED Lucie Safarova, well there has to be only one winner, Li Na... Serena Williams is also through, with an of course EASY win for her.. Roger Federer in action tomorrow along with Andy Murray, Jo Wilfried T ...
If you're looking forward to the tennis from Australian tonight (or today), we're hoping the heat won't cause suspension of play again today. The forecast is not vey optimistic, however. But there are some enticing prospective matches on the roofed courts, if worst comes to worst. Serena Williams leads the way on Rod Laver Arena, taking on Daniela Hantuchova. David Ferrer v. Jeremy Chardy will follow, and local player Casey Dellacqua will then play Jie Zheng. Over on Hisense Arena, American Alison Riske will try to take down the no. 9 seed Angelique Kerber. Li Na should be able to cope with Lucie Safarova, but Tomas Berdych may face a challenge from the talented Damir Dzumhur. If you're up late (or early), Ana Ivanovic is scheduled against local favorite Sam Stosur on Rod Laver Arena in the night session, followed by Novak Djokovic v. Denis Istomin, In the night session on Hisense, Tommy Robredo will play Richard Gasquet in a match that could be a long-drawn out affair between two veterans. And doubles ge ...

# One of the biggest COMEBACK of 2013 Berdych d. Novak Djokovic 2-6, 7-5, 6-4, Rome Quarter-finals Novak Djokovic boasted an insurmountable 6-2, 5-3 lead against Tomas Berdyc has he approached the clay-stained baseline at the Foro Italico, one service hold from booking a spot in the semi-finals of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia for a third consecutive year. “I lost concentration and started to play more defensively,” lamented the Serb. Three forehand errors later and the two-time champion suddenly faced his first break point of the match. A sublime down-the-line backhand by Berdych would punctuate the break and Djokovic was left ruing his missed opportunity. The Houdini act continued as Berdych astonishingly reeled off eight of nine games to close out the second set and grab the early advantage in the third. Djokovic had won 11 previous meetings with the Czech, since Wimbledon2010, and 13 of 14 overall, but the sixth-seed’s sutured gameplan proved to be flawless. Berdych powered past an increasing ...
Novak Djokovic and Tomas Berdych during Davis Cup final draw ceremony, today in Belgrade.
The tennis season is over, and I can say : King of 2013 : Rafael Nadal * Queen of 2013 : Serena Williams * Prince of 2013 : Novak Djokovic * A good player (men ) : Juan Martin Del Potro ,David Ferrer A good player (ladies ) : Victoria Azarenka The black horse : Tommy Haas A hard worker player : Tomas Berdych ,Stanislas Wawrinka A hard worker player (ladies ) : 1) Na Li , 2) Sara Errani A good comeback : Richard Gasquet Disappointment of the year : Maria Sharapova Shock of the year : Marion Bartoli * Rafa and Djoko dominated the Masters series ( Rafa got 5 and Djoko got 3 + the final championship ) and only Murray could take one of them " Miami " they also dominated Grand Slams and also Murray could get only one , and Djokovic won 1 and reached the finals of 2 of them . * Serena lost only 4 matches during this year . Rankings Report: Men's Top 10 Changes Top to Bottom in 2013 November 12, 2013 at 05:24AM No Top 10 player ends 2013 in same spot he began itHow many Top 10 players ended the 2013 season ranked in the same position they started the year? Zero. Zilch. Nada. With the Barclays completed Monday when Novak Djokovic conquered Rafael Nadal, the year-end rankings were released with just one minor change from a week ago, Roger Federer reclaiming the No. 6 spot in the world from Tomas Berdych. Overall, the Top 10 retains nine of the same players who started the year there. The only addition being Stanislas Wawrinka, who checks in at No. 8 after beginning the year 17th. He replaces Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic, who at age 29, went into a rankings freefall, finishing the year No. 36 after a 20-24 campaign. For Nadal, it's his third season finishing No. 1 at year's end, the second-most among active players behind Federer's five. The only other players to do so more three or more times in the Open Era are Jimmy Connors (5) ...

So three of the four semifinalists have been confirmed now. Rafa Nadal was first in, then Novak Djokovic and the fact that Nadal beat Tomas Berdych in their last round robin match, Stan Wawrinka is through. So who will be the final one? In a straight shoot-out Roger Federer plays Juan Martin Del Potro. The semis line up will be Djokovic v Wawrinka and Nadal v Federer or Del Potro.
Great serving was de rigueur today in Paris. Novak Djokovic, John Isner, Tomas Berdych, and Milos Raonic weren’t broken in the first sets of their round-of-16 matches, but Jerzy Janowicz’s serving might have been the most impressive of all. In a game that lasted all of 49 seconds, the Pole fired four consecutive aces then, in his next service game, bombed a 143 M.P.H. ace and a 145 M.P.H. service winner. Janowicz then showed off the big guns—his biceps—to the crowd. Unfortunately for Janowicz, his opponent also started out serving impeccably. Rafael Nadal has never wowed with his serve the way he has with his running gets or whipping forehands, but it’s become one of the pillars of his game. It can bounce sky high on clay, but even on fast surfaces, Nadal makes the most of his lefty serves, placing them like a skilled archer. Of course, Nadal also owns what may be the best ground game on the planet, so that helps him hold more often than not as well. The point is, for as good a server as Janowic ...
Draw Done for Shanghai Rolex Masters: The Rolex Boutique and in particular the “Rolex Experience” on the historic Bund was the venue for the draw for the 2013 Shanghai Rolex Masters and it was an event that attracted some very special guests. The man who all others are compared to in tennis, the great legend Rod Laver was in attendance. He was joined on stage by the very popular Jo Wilfried Tsonga and by China’s No.1 Zhang (George) Ze. Then, at the very end, just as the draw was completed, appearing in front of the Rolex Crown logo Roger Federer appeared through the shadows. It was a moment greeted with gasps and applause as Federer made his way onto the stage to be greeted by the dignitaries. Novak Djokovic starts his title defence with a first round bye as do the other top eight seeds – Rafa Nadal, who takes over as No.1 next week, David Ferrer, Tomas Berdych, Federer, Juan Martin Del Potro, Tsonga and Stan Wawrinka. Should the seedings hold up, the quarterfinal line-up would be Djokovic v Feder ...

Andy Murray will take on Tommy Robredo in the third match on Centre. Reynolds, ranked 156th, made Djokovic work but the top seed prevailed in one hour and 55 minutes, and will play Jeremy Chardy or Jan-Lennard Struff in the last 32.The result means there will be no American man in the third round at Wimbledon for the first time since 1912. Tomas Berdych, Juan Martin Del Potro and Richard Gasquet made progress, but fourth seed David Ferrer did not make it onto Court One to play Roberto Bautista Agut before the rain arrived. Canadian 17th seed Milos Raonic wa ...
To the 27% of fans on ESPN who voted (4) David Ferrer the biggest threat to (1) Novak Djokovic on his half of the draw, I say you guys are "high"! Only (7) Tomas Berdych and (8) Juan Martin Del Potro should scare him at all in the top half. (2) Andy Murray obviously is his biggest threat overall.
Novak Djokovic proved shock-proof as a sense of order was restored on Tuesday after the tremors that rumbled around Wimbledon on opening night following Rafa Nadal's defeat. A day that began with Belgium's Steve Darcis waking up as the sport's latest giant-slayer after his shock first round defeat of 12-times major champion Nadal on Monday, continued in far less dramatic fashion at the All England club. Djokovic outmanoeuvred Mayer, a player just outside the top 32 seeds and who he faced in the quarterfinals last year, for a 6-3 7-5 6-4 victory. Nadal's fourth-seeded compatriot David Ferrer, who he beat to win an eighth French Open, completed a far-from-memorable Centre Court programme with a 6-1 4-6 7-5 6-2 win against Argentina's Martin Alund despite several tumbles. Other men's seeds also flourished with Czech 2010 runner-up Tomas Berdych, Argentine 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro, Germany's Tommy Haas and talented Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov all enjoying straight sets wins. Djokovic had not ...

It’s always great preparation for Wimbledon for me because I know that the quality of the tennis and the opponents is always really high,” said Novak. “Stoke Park is a beautiful place to play and the crowd always makes it lots of fun for us too.” Nole will be joined at The Boodles 2013 by an all-star field including the 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro, 2011 Wimbledon runner-up Tomas Berdych, 2012 The Boodles winner Marin Cilic, world no.9 Richard Gasquet, rising Canadian star Milos Raonic, former junior Wimbledon champion Grigor Dimitrov, Jerzy Janowicz and Sam Querrey. from:
Not the Usual Suspects The Big Four, consisting of Andy Murray, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, have been almost unbreakable in the past five years when it comes to who will appear in any Grand Slam semi-final. But, with Murray's withdrawal from the event and Federer's loss in the quarterfinals to Tsonga, the potential opponent in the final (for Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal) will either be Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Spaniard David Ferrer. This will mark the first time a player outside of the Big Four will play in a Major final since Tomas Berdych faced Rafael Nadal at the end of the 2010 Wimbledon fortnight. Surely the odds will not be in Tsonga or Ferrer's favor, but they have made it this far and would only need to pull off one more upset to win. The Frenchman lost in his only previous Major final to Novak Djokovic at the 2008 Australian Open while Ferrer has never reached the championship match before.
ROME (AP) -- Novak Djokovic can't seem to find any consistency on clay courts. And with French Open less than 10 days away, he will enter Roland Garros coming off two early losses. The top-ranked Serb wasted a chance to serve out the match and was beaten 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 by sixth-seeded Tomas Berdych in the Italian Open quarterfinals on Friday. In the semifinals, Berdych will face six-time Rome champion Rafael Nadal, who defeated fellow Spaniard David Ferrer 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. While he struggled at times, Nadal appeared sharper than in his three-set win over Latvian qualifier Ernests Gulbis a day earlier. It's the second consecutive week that Djokovic has struggled, having also lost to Grigor Dimitrov in the second round of the Madrid Open, where he was bothered by a right ankle injury. Djokovic said he had been playing pain-free this week. Still, he will need to get his game in shape in a hurry with the French Open, the year's second Grand Slam, starting on May 26. ''I know I can play well on clay and so I shou ...

Top seeds Spain moved to the brink of a shock Davis Cup exit on Friday when their weakened team slumped to a 2-0 deficit at the hands of Canada in a world group, first round tie played on lightning quick Vancouver hardcourts. Novak Djokovic was in no mood for upsets, however, and earlier got right back in the groove after his Australian Open triumph with a crushing defeat of Olivier Rochus as Serbia surged into a 2-0 lead in Belgium. Holders Czech Republic were locked at 1-1 after the first day against a Switzerland side minus world No 2 Roger Federer - Tomas Berdych levelling the tie after Lukas Rosol had been outplayed by Stanislas Wawrinka.

Tuesday 22: from 7:30pm local time faced in the Rod Laver Arena, Novak Djokovic against Tomas Berdych :).
World Sports News Berdych ignores Aust Open hype Talk is cheap to Tomas Berdych, even when it's a big vote of confidence from Lleyton Hewitt, tennis Nostradamus. The Australian predicted last month that Berdych, the world No.6, would be the next player to have a Grand Slam breakthrough. Berdych would have done nothing to dampen that enthusiasm on Wednesday when the tall Czech breezed past Guilliame Rufin of France 6-4 6-2 6-2 in the second round at the Australian Open. Hewitt has credibility when it comes to such calls - last year, he tipped Andy Murray would win a Grand Slam only a few weeks before the Scot's maiden US Open title. The former world No.1 was also on the money about Juan Martin del Petro before his 2009 US Open title and was talking up Novak Djokovic ahead of his second Australian Open win in 2011, despite Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal then being the dominant forces. But Berdych knows only hard work will matter if he is to join the big four of men's tennis - Djokovic, Federer, Nadal and Mu ...

Tennis Djokovic to face Almagro in Abu Dhabi final Novak Djokovic began his season with a merciless 6-0 6-3 demolition job on David Ferrer to reach the Mubadala Tennis Championship final in Abu Dhabi, where he will face Nicolas Almagro of Spain. The world number one swept aside Spain's world number five Ferrer in the opening set before bouncing back from an early break of service with four straight games to win it in two. Ferrer barely had a chance to replicate the impressive display he entered the previous day against Tomas Berdych in the $250,000 winner-takes-all event. "I love this court and the conditions here. I wish all the tournaments in the world were played here," Djokovic said. "It's definitely a great surface. It's not too warm here, not too cold, it's ideal to prepare on.

Roger Federer was awarded a ‘Men in Black’ suit by Will Smith after winning Madrid By Chris Chase | Busted Racquet – Sun, May 13, 2012 2:37 PM EDT . . Sure, Roger Federer won his 20th Masters 1000 title with his 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 victory over Tomas Berdych at the Madrid Open. And, yes, it was his 45th win in his last 48 matches, gave him seven titles in his last 10 events, made him the first player to ever win at least 10 championships on each major surface and earned him that bizarre Ion Tiriac trophy. This doesn't even mention that he moved past Rafael Nadal to regain the No. 2 spot in the ATP rankings, made a huge dent in Novak Djokovic's lead for the No. 1 ranking and came out on top in a week that was defined by childish whining and threats from the former top two. But all of that pales in comparison to receiving a framed "Men in Black" suit from Will Smith. Smith is in Europe doing press for his new film, "Men in Black 3," and watched Sunday's final with his wife, Jada. After the match, Smith s ...
