North Korean Foreign Minister Visits Moscow After Calling for Reunification at UN General Assembly Meeting On October 4, a high-level meeting was held in Inchon between a high-level delegation from North Korea led by Hwang Pyong So, the top political officer for the Korean People's Army, and South Korean Unification Minister Ryoo Kihl-jae and national security director Kim Kwan-jin. The two sides agreed to hold a new round of high-level consultations in late October/ early November. What is generally not reported is that last week, North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Su-yong, from the UN General Assembly rostrum, called for reunification of the two Koreas according to the confederation formula, proposed by Kim Il Sung in the late 1980s. This is the only way to prevent war and guarantee peace, the minister said. Also, according to the Guardian, following the General Assembly meeting, North Korea's foreign minister arrived in Moscow on Sept. 30 to begin a 10-day visit with a bilateral agenda that includes figh ...

Looks like a father's fear of flying doesn't necessarily transfer to his son. This past weekend, Kim Jong Un and his wife Ri Sol Ju arrived in style to attend a combat flight contest, showing up in their own Russian-made IL-62, decorated with “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea” written in Hangul on the body. North Korea's flag was also on the side, and a large red star symbolizing Kim was painted on the wing. This is the first time Jong Un's personal jet has been seen by the public. Kim's father, Kim Jong Il, was terrified of flying, and his attempts to keep his feet on the ground bordered on the obsessive partly due to to his personal phobia but also because he feared assassination and terrorist attacks. Instead of flying, Kim Jong Il took all of his long distance excursions by heavily armored train carriages. It appears the Jong Un is taking a cue from his grandfather, Kim Il Sung, who flew frequently and had a much more visible profile than his son, Jong Il. Jong Un even modeled his hair and ...

Petition to Expel North Korea from the United Nations. Recently the UN Human Rights Commission of Inquiry (COI) revealed the human rights situation in North Korea at the Geneva Human Rights Summit. The international community was shocked at the revelations of the report. Kim Jong Un’s own uncle, Jang Song Taek was openly punished; tortured and executed. Jang’s torture was evident in footage and photographs taken before his execution. Jang was killed by machine gun and his body further defiled by chemical weapons. We defectors who have experienced life in North Korea have lived through three generations of dictatorship. Kim Jong Un may be the “new” generation, but the government’s methods of torture, persecution, and execution are not likely to change. But the reality of today’s North Korea has been revealed by the COI and the country’s elite was shocked by rumors of public executions among their ranks. After the death of Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il blamed So Kwan-hi, the Agricultural Secretary ...

Kim Il Sung is alleged to have said that only Christianity can cut the root of Communism in North Korea.
"The bigger question puzzling commentators is just how strong is Kim Jong Un's grip on power," CNN's Paula Hancocks says in response to readers' questions. "The execution of his uncle by marriage, Jang Song Taek, last year has some experts predicting he has now consolidated power while others believe this shows he is weaker than thought. The fact he felt the need to order the killing of a member of his family so publicly might suggest he’s still fighting to gain ultimate power. North Korea didn’t air its dirty laundry in public under Kim Il Sung or Kim Jong Il, which, analysts say, may suggest those leaders felt more secure in their power. And of course there’s the school of thought that Kim Jong Il was pushed into this by the military and felt he had to appease the all powerful National Defense Commission. As always with North Korea, there are plenty of assumptions but few facts."

"There are more posters of Kim Il Sung in North Korea than America has of Anchorman 2" Zing!
I believe that there is no plausible link between the recent purges and North Korean military activity. The purge of Jang Sung Taek was purely a domestic matter, where a growing family brawl within the Kim's clan was skilfully used by the young Marshal Kim Jong Un to discipline the elites and to reiterate the economic and political course chosen sixty years ago by his grandfather, Kim Il Sung. The international message associated with the liquidation of uncle Jang was that Kim Jong Un assumes the full control of state affairs and it is him who should be negotiated with (not any extended family member). If Park Geun Hye or Barack Obama want to resume dialogue with North Korea they are only one call away from the progress. Still, President Park and Secretary John Kerry continue to be more ideological than pragmatic. They talk about provocations and denuclearisation but refuse to address the core issue – the Korean War which has not ended yet. The first major purge in North Korea was also associated with t ...

Congress`s `Bharat Nirman'.This Sonia govt.is spending taxpayers' money to promote some `leaders' and this govt`s supposed achievements,it is a practice they copied from the Soviet Union, Maoist China and North Korea. It reached its apogee during the Emergency when Indira Gandhi was projected (Kim Il Sung style) as the 'great leader' and her son Sanjay as the little great leader. They are spreading half truths, claiming credit for private sector`s acheivements (Tele-Density).But things have changed a lot now,due to internet people are much aware & even know the dark truths of `family',what congress gains by splurging people`s money will be known sooner.

(CNN) -- The body of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez will rest in a glass case on public display. Forever. At least, so said his deputy, Nicolas Maduro. While the idea may seem alien to some, Chavez will be the latest in a line of leaders whose remains have been embalmed and put on show in a glass casket. Perhaps the best known is Russia's Vladimir Lenin, whose body still lies in a mausoleum in Moscow's Red Square, nearly 90 years after his death. Others include Stalin, China's Mao Zedong, Vietnam's *** Chi Minh, and North Korea's founding leader, Kim Il Sung. So Dennis Rodman sees himself as a diplomat now, huh? Gone are the days of wine and roses; wedding dresses and walking around an empty Pontiac Silverdome parking lot, firing shotgun blasts into the sky. In North Korea, every person is property and is owned by a small and mad family with hereditary power. Every minute of every day, as far as regimentation can assure the fact, is spent in absolute subjection and serfdom. The private life has been entirely abolished. One tries to avoid cliché, and I did my best on a visit to this terrifying country in the year 2000, but George Orwell's 1984 was published at about the time that Kim Il Sung set up his system, and it really is as if he got hold of an early copy of the novel and used it as a blueprint. ("Hmmm … good book. Let's see if we can make it work.")" Actually, North Korea is rather worse than Orwell's dystopia. There would be no way, in the capital city of Pyongyang, to wander off and get lost in the slums, let alone to rent an off-the-record love nest in a room over a shop. Everybody in the city has to be at home and in bed by curfew time, when all the lights go off (if they haven't already failed). A recent nighttime photograph of the Korean penins ...

"I once asked a Peruvian writer and militant who visited the DPRK(Democratic People's Republic of Korea) many times, wrote a laudatory book about it, talked at length with Kim Il Sung several times and played an active part in the '100 per cent solidarity movement' with North Korea why he did it. He answered: ‘They fought the North Americans; they have done incredible things in the economy; it’s the only Third World country where everyone has good health, good education and good housing.’ So I asked him what he really thought about it, as a poet. His reply: ‘It is the saddest, most miserable country I’ve ever been in in my life. As a poet, it strikes bleakness into my heart.’" - Jon Halliday Thoughts? (Barry)

Source: crimes committed by right-wing dictators have always been easier to track down than the crimes against humanity committed by communist leaders, so the figures for communist leaders like Stalin and Mao increase almost yearly as new secret documents become available. To this day, the Chinese government has not yet disclosed how many people were executed by Mao's red guards during the Cultural Revolution and how many people were killed in Tibet during the Chinese invasion of 1950. We also don't know how many dissidents have been killed by order of Kim Il Sung in North Korea, although presumably many thousands. I often get asked if Hiroshima/Nagasaki qualify as a genocide. I disagree. First of all, why only nuclear weapons? The carpet bombing of German cities and of Tokyo killed the same number of people. Second, Winston Churchill and Harry Truman did not start that war: they ended it. It is even debatable if these bombings killed or saved lives: Hiroshima probably saved a lot of Japanese lives, becau ...

Was doing research on countries where Christianity is illegal..this is crazy people...countries where bibles are scarce the believers are dying and standing up for their faith in Christ. We have bibles at our disposal here in america and most Christians do not know their bibles nor care to read it. Wow...we have to give these Christians honor for what they do. North Korea’s persecution of Christians knows no equal, and being a Christian there is considered one of the worst crimes possible. North Korean communist dogma considers religion an ‘opiate’ of the people, unless of course that religion is the personality cult of ‘Great Leader’ Kim Il Sung or his son, ‘Dear Leader’ Kim Jong Il. North Korean Christians must hide their faith at all times, and Christian parents can’t teach their faith to their children until the kids are old enough to understand the dangers (and for parents to be sure their kids won’t turn them in). Just owning a Bible in North Korea is grounds for execution or depor ...

This is what I was saying about North Korea and how wacked out they are. U.S. Suffers Enormous Losses in Korean War Pyongyang, July 30 (KCNA) -- Nearly sixty years has passed since the Democratic People's Republic of Korea defeated the United States in the Korean War (June 1950-July 1953). The war was ignited on June 25, 1950 by the U.S. imperialists by instigating the South Korean puppet army. The U.S. brought to the war more than two million troops and huge latest weaponry, including one third of its ground force, a fifth of the Air Force and most of the Pacific Fleet, troops of its 15 satellites, the South Korean armed forces and the Japanese militarists. However, the war ended in the DPRK's victory. During the three years of war the enemy lost 1 567 128 troops, including 405 498 U.S. aggressor troops and 1 130 965 South Korean troops, and an enormous amount of combat equipment and war supplies, including 12 224 aircraft, 564 ships of different types, 7 695 artillery pieces, 3 255 tanks and armored veh ...

Went to an amazing reading as part of Poetry Parnassus tonight, from Ribka Sibhatu, who escaped the dictatorship in Eritrea, Cambodian Kosal Khiev, who was born in a refugee camp in Thailand and later deported from the US where he'd grown up, to Cambodia, where he'd never been, and Jang Jin-Sung, who escaped from North Korea after being Kim Il Sung's court poet for years. Amazing life stories and amazing poems to go with them. So disappointing there were less than 50 people in the Great Hall at Dartington. So few people, even avid prose readers, will give a poetry event a go.
Remember when Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il controlled the weather? It never this hot it North Korea.

The very latest and important new from North Korea - Kim Jong Un's Treatise Makes People Miss Kim Il Sung Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- Upon receiving the dear respected Kim Jong Un's treatise titled "The Great Comrade Kim Il Sung Is the Eternal Leader of Our Party and People", the Korean people have been seized with ardent yearning for President Kim Il Sung. Ro Si Hwan, a researcher at the Academy of Social Sciences, told KCNA: "President Kim Il Sung was the great leader of the revolution, benevolent father of the Korean people and peerlessly great man revered by the world people. The more I read Kim Jong Un's treatise, the deeper my yearning for the President grows. The President was the greatest man ever in history and a prominent thinker and theoretician recognized by the world public. Thanks to the Juche idea founded by him, the Korean people became the driving force of history and the genuine masters directly responsible for the revolution and construction. "The investigation of GMA is a must if this society is to clean itself up. And cleanup is a must if it’s to rise from the bottom in Asia to the top where it belongs, and would be if it had the right leaders. The right leader is critical to where a country goes. Look at Singapore under Lee Kuan Yew versus North Korea under Kim Il Sung. President Aquino is rightly driven by his single-minded focus on corruption. The Philippines will get nowhere till that’s cleaned up. If the economy must suffer through lack of attention, it’s a price worth paying. Examples must be set at the top to send the message all the way down that honest performance in society is an essential."
