Indeed after houseboats and the mountains it is these gardens for which Kashmir is mostfamous. Nishat Garden Located in Srinagar, Nishat Bagh was built byAsaf Khan, Empress Nur Jahan's brother. Nishat is celebrated for its stately chinar (plane) trees, imported to Kashmir from Persia by the Mughals. Among these, many ofthe giant chinar trees have been planted by the Mughal Emperors. Nishat has 12 terraces representing the 12 signs of the zodiac, which seems to gradually descend and merge in the Dal Lake's periphery. The terraces viewed along with the bed of flower, a mosaic of bright and beautiful colours, creates an unforgettable sight. Bandipora Bandipora district, with Bandipora town as its administrative headquarters is one of the 22 districts in Jammu and Kashmirstate in northern India. This district was carved out from the former Baramulla districtin 2007. It shares boundaries with Kupwara district in the west, Baramulla district in the south and Kargil, Srinagar and Ganderbal districts in the east. It also shares international border on the north east by Skardu district, Pakistan. Located on the northern banks of Wular Lake - the biggest lake of clean water in Asia, the town has a Nishat Bagh similar to the one in Srinagar. Bandipore leads the way to Razdan ...
